Really enjoyed the game! There is a lot of gun variety and plenty of shell upgrades that keep the gameplay fresh. The difficulty is fine, the game isn't a walk in the park, neither it is "Dark Souls-the Snail version". Great first game from a small team of college friends, I'm really looking forward for the next one, cheers! Expand

Clid the snail was a very pleasant surprise. I hadn't heard about it until it got released but it ended up being a really fun experience. The atmosphere of the different environments is pretty unique as well as the characters you meet. The gameplay is fun and challenging (especially in the boss areas) and the story is also good. Really looking forward to a second part or some sort of DLC.

The idea is great, the graphics are nice and the mechanics are generally fair (even though aiming is hard), but the information is displayed poorly - good luck noticing that "X to speak" message - and the boss fights are ridiculously repetitive and hard, especially comparing with generally simple level fights. Weird Beluga has done a pretty good job. Clid the Snail is a charm and fresh dual stick shooter with a huge amount of weapons, a remarkable narrative and a wonderful art.
The game has a medium difficulty level that smooths out soon, becoming an enjoyable and easy game. The gameplay is fun and rewards your strategy using the special features of your guns to your favor and the exploration

I really enjoyed the game, nice work.

There's potential in Clid the Snail. The postapocalyptic setting feels fresher thanks to the new perspective, and the characters are charming, even if they fit expected tropes from stories about a ragtag bunch being forced to come together. A fascinating setting cannot overcome gameplay that feels repetitive due to unexciting shooting mechanics and enemies that fail to become intelligent until you reach a boss fight. It can be fun if you temper your expectations significantly, but for most people, Clid the Snail won't do it for them.

After some digging, I found that the indie developers at Weird Beluga focused on three design pillars for Clid the Snail “methodical and challenging combat, exploration and puzzles, and an emphasis on narrative.” The team found success with two of these three pillars, the exploration in Clid is quite enjoyable. Made even more so by the absence of a radar like system, I rather enjoyed the very old school approach. Even the story in Clid the Snail hit all the notes of comedy, tragedy and action on queue. But that combat… they absolutely NAILED the challenging part. It’s just a shame that it isn’t much fun and instead just feels like an exercise in futility at parts.

Showing promise in the early stages, Clid the Snail is both a charming shooter filled with a ton of character and visually interesting themes. However, the slow pace, cluttered worlds and repetitive gameplay fail to elevate the game to true greatness.
