    The pro's:

    - Finally a medieval fight game on the PS4! - Playing as a team can be very satisfying. - There is some freedom in how your strikes will be performed (drag) - You can cancel a strike or face the other way in order to avoid hitting team mates. - There are 4 types of warriors with their own weapons and fighting style. - There is a decent variation in area's to fight in. -

    - You can make your character shout like a crazy barbarian!
    - Playing this game makes you feel like you are in a good old Ivanhoe movie.

    The con's:

    - The vote kick system is very annoying, since mostly the players that get voted to kick are not bad sport players.
    - In almost every match there is at least one player who starts attacking his own team mates.
    - Players with high ping make the game very laggy.
    - You need to look up on the internet how to do special moves in order to be able to compete with higher ranked players, otherwise you wont stand a chance.
    - There are a lot of glitches in the game where you can get stuck in a wall or dead players are spinning around, for instance.

This is by far one of the biggest disappointments of a game I have ever played. The controls are next to impossible and lagging. The game is buggy. Horrible port from PC. Save your money give this game atleast a few months on console before you consider purchasing.

Do not buy this game! Buyer beware!

I originally played this game on PC when the community was at it's strongest and I know why the community has dwindled. I originally played this game on PC when the community was at it's strongest and I know why the community has dwindled. I had hoped the game would have been updated for it's PS4 release but it has not. I got the ultimate edition for something like $20.00 over the holidays and I have heavy, heavy buyers remorse. Don't buy this crap! This game is still clearly a cash crab and this studio is contributing to the perpetual downfall of the gaming industry. This game is so absolutely broken... There is just so much shame. I really want a refund.

    Reasons:
    1. The hit detection is horrifically bad. Playing in third person doesn't even help. The hitboxes are absolutely bizarre as are factors like a weapons reach and it's damage. This is only compounded by lag (often heavy lag) despite having "dedicated servers". Let's put it this way, the hit detection is so bad that you people have figured out how to cheat the game by looking in nonsensical directions and by sweeping their camera to help make their swings wider. That is not at all a good sign. It isn't any kind of fun being one shot continuously by a knight with a longsword who isn't even facing you as he's purposely cheesing the game.

    2. There is absolutely no balance between classes. If you're intention is to play and enjoy all the classes (as opposed to just the Vanguard and Knight) you'll want to pull hair out. Archers and Men-at-Arms are horribly under-powered often dying in a single hit. Archers are slow, inaccurate, and despite being the most lightweight class simply cannot outrun the other classes. The constant frustration with the Men-at-Arms class is due to similar reasons. The worst is that it takes a zillion hits to kill a Vanguard or Knight (which everyone plays because they are simply broken) and despite being very fast, you don't swing any faster than anyone else! You have to hit them forever and they just one shot you. It all makes no sense.

    3. There is virtually no weapon diversity. The longsword seems win against everything simply because it has a wide sweep and reach (reach is totally bizarre - it works sometimes and other times not even close). Even using long polearms like spears and tridents you'll get beat out by even the backswing of a long sword. Now try using something shorter. Good luck with that.

    4. This game has been advertised from the beginning as a skill based game. This is simply not true. Total false advertising. Skill doesn't hardly factor into the gameplay at all because so many design aspects in this game are completely broken. Often winning comes down to mobbing a single opponent and swinging wildly killing both friend and enemy alike. If you're on the receiving end you'll try to block and due to the timing of enemies swings you'll block one attack and get hit by the other. This is frustrating because every time you get hit you're stunlocked. You essentially get stuck in a stunlock loop until you're dead. Skill is simply not a factor for any class. Skill doesn't even help you for one-on-ones because the hit detection is horrible.

    5. This game will absolutely infuriate you. You think Call of Duty has gone downhill? Just wait! You'll die from the most ridiculous crap ever and it won't be fun. Nothing is fair in this game, nothing is realistic or well balanced. This game is horrible! I've played thousands of games over my lifetime and have never been as frustrated (read: infuriated to the point of rage) as I have been trying to play this game just so I can feel like I got my $20 dollars worth. Even the horde mode where you fight AI/NPCs is totally broken. If you ever intend on trying to get all the trophies you'll sooner die of a heart attack or stroke before you unlock everything. Screw this game.

    6. The studio has had an outrageous amount of time to fix the issues on PC and they never did it. This was clearly a cash grab project (because they certainly made a lot of cash!). They should be ashamed of themselves for producing such a low quality product. They clearly have no intention of fixing the issues that prevent this game from being even tolerable (a far cry from being even fun or enjoyable).

Please, do not waste your money on this game. I plead with you. You're better off burning your money (just to not deal with the frustration and stress) than having to endure this garbage. The studio deserves to have a lawsuit put up against them. Philosophically we should not support this trash as both consumers/gamers and design-wise the gameplay isn't fun or tolerable. It's just broken. Stay away!

Very disappointing game, with still the same glitches (!!!!) from the PC version.

One thing though: the abundant mousemacro and mousedragging on highest sensitivity is not there (yet) on PS4.

This game does a BAD job in depicting authenthic melee combat.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare was a game I've been interested in playing for a while because it has exactly what I want, large scale online battles that don't involve guns. This type of market is very bare and practically non-existent on consoles which sucks to be honest.
The last game I played of this type was Lord of the Rings: Conquest back on the 360, this game was considered a bomb but

The last game I played of this type was Lord of the Rings: Conquest back on the 360, this game was considered a bomb but I still enjoyed it for it's multiplayer action. The funny thing about Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is that despite this coming to consoles in 2015 it looks worse than LOTR:Conquest or 90% of the games back on the 360.
There has been 0 effort put into this game and I left this experience angry and £18 out of pocket. Let's talk about the good points before I crucify this game for wasting my time and money.
+ Has a great premise, I want more games that blend sword fighting and multiplayer.
+ It's deep with regards to how you can engage with an emphasis on tactics
    Now onto the bad:
    - Absolutely atrocious hit registering system. seriously...what the hell is this? I have situations where I would be fighting a guy and I kill him, only to die due to a late reaction in which the person I killed also killed me.
    - The graphics, I would call this game the most ugly game on next gen consoles. Ride to Hell Retribution looks better than this game and that's considered the worse game of all time (barring E.T of course)
    - Unstable framerate, people who own a Xbone suffer with 30FPS on this game while the PS4 is supposed to have 60FPS, the truth is that it doesn't matter because the likelihood of this game staying at 60FPS for more than a minute is a far cry indeed.
    - Server lag. Normally people would be blamed on their connection with regards to lag but that isn't the case with me. I have fiberoptic at home and I'm the only one that uses it through an ethernet connection so it is extremely frustrating when my money is wasted on all that because some lazy ass can't be bothered to do their job.
This game may be great on PC, I wouldn't know but going from this it's safe to say that Chivalry didn't get a proper port to consoles. I'll just have to wait until For Honor comes out to get the game I want.

This game is dog****! Everything is wrong with it. The developers had a good idea (medieval warfare) but that was all. They didn't have the skills to make a decent game in the least. Spend your money on something else. What a massive disappointment! Do not listen to the positive reviews.

I love this game! Been waiting for it to come out on PS4 for a long time. Easily one of the most unique and satisfying mutiplayer games this year. Don't waste your money on CoD or Battlefront, this here is a multiplayer game actually worth playing in 2015!

This game is 20 dollars and have offered me more fun than most triple A games this year i have played! The combat system is pretty deep and tactical when you get a hang of how it works. There are some bugs and glitches though. Team killing is also a problem. Other than that it is amazing!

Really great game for short term fun!
Its becomes apparent this port wasn't really optimized on consoles, especially in regards of outdated graphics, framerate issues and lacking introduction to new players.
However after getting familiar with the solid variation of game modes, console players will quickly adapt and overlook most of these problems. A single player mode is playable as

However after getting familiar with the solid variation of game modes, console players will quickly adapt and overlook most of these problems. A single player mode is playable as well, but my experience is generally based on the extensive multiplayer.
Classic modes like Free for All or Team Deathmatch as well as Objective Based gameplay or Duell Mode might require a few matches to find ones personal playstyle under the great variety of class and weapon options that are all unlocked without leveling up. A few microtransactions for weapons and character customization exists, though so far I could only make out a cosmetic difference and no pay-to-win advantages.
The game series had been around on PC for a couple of years with a ton of extra content possibly still in development on consoles, so if you love the gameplay you'll look forward to additional stuff in the future.
Considering the 20$ pricetag, gamers new to the franchise get a great value of short term online fun for their money, with similar more content on the way. 8/10

This could have been a great multiplayer medieval fight game (we need more of those on the PS4), but the kick voting system and also the many imature players who kill their own team-mates to protect their friends, even if they are on the other team, kick voting every new-comer that they don't like, take all the fun out of the game. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare's concept is intriguing, but technical problems, clunky controls and a mediocre presentation make for a pretty terrible experience. Shame.
