    This game definitely has endearing qualities that initially grabs the player, but unfortunately the pattern becomes a bit repetitive by the end. I definitely found the narration and plot to be very interesting at first, but by the end I just wanted to finish the game and get it over and done with and skipped the potluck dinner scenes.

    It showed promise at the start but didn't really do it for me, the story was.... just there i guess, i mean i didn't really connect with it and didn't feel the family bond and all that, the combat wasn't deep like i couldn't do stuff i wanted like cancel animation and the skills of all the characters only like two skills were nice, all the rest were not interesting, actually nothing in theIt showed promise at the start but didn't really do it for me, the story was.... just there i guess, i mean i didn't really connect with it and didn't feel the family bond and all that, the combat wasn't deep like i couldn't do stuff i wanted like cancel animation and the skills of all the characters only like two skills were nice, all the rest were not interesting, actually nothing in the game was deep enough but it wasn't bad either it was a nice coop game at least, i would buy it for coop on sale but don't expect much… Expand

    خسته نباشید به تیم سازنده من میخواستم بازی رو بخرم ولی وقتی فهمیدم بازی فارسی نداره یکمی نا امید شدم این واقعا نهایت بی احترامی به مردم ایرانه میدونم حمایت از سمت مردم ایران کمه ولی خب راهو باید باز گذاشت برای کسایی که میخوان حمایت کننخسته نباشید به تیم سازنده من میخواستم بازی رو بخرم ولی وقتی فهمیدم بازی فارسی نداره یکمی نا امید شدم این واقعا نهایت بی احترامی به مردم ایرانه میدونم حمایت از سمت مردم ایران کمه ولی خب راهو باید باز گذاشت برای کسایی که میخوان حمایت کنن

    Very solid hack'n'slash. I like how you develop characters as you unlock perks not only for selected warriors, but also for the entire family. And keep in mind the hack'n'slash battles are in fact part of the more classic action RPG. Good game. The only con is that few cutscenes didn't have narrator's voice-over. That's a bug they could fix.

    Children of Morta is a beautiful pixel-art dungeon crawler with beautiful music and a very nice story.
    The story-teller reveals a bit more every time an event occurs.
    It's overwhelmingly positive reviews are well deserved.

    I like the simple but efficient fights, the many characters, the skill tree, the evolution, ...

    One of the bests of the genre.

    The story of CoM is an aspect you can invest as little in as you like, as it is presented in small chunks mostly between missions. Children of Morta is one of the best and most refreshing games I have played in some time.

    The story of CoM is an aspect you can invest as little in as you like, as it is presented in small chunks mostly between missions. I found myself growing rather fond of most of the characters, even those with cameo roles. This is all due to the powerful narrative voice that single-handedly conveys the significance of each element of the story. The premise isn't anything revelatory; you're fighting off corruption of the land, but each character along the way get their 15 minutes of spotlight that lets you know who they are and why they exist.

    With graphics, CoM walks a tightrope that balances between low-budget functionality and stylistic idiosyncrasies, for despite pixilation in the graphics, each level and character remains recognisable. Enemy attacks can be limited as they are regardless of budgets, yet I never found myself experiencing the dreaded colour palette swaps so prominent in games of this genre. There is definitely some repetition as the purple enemies come more often than I would like, but this is offset by gaining experience from their downfall. Overall, CoM is a game I will always remember and recognise from a simple screenshot.

    The gameplay is the bread and butter of CoM and by far the most memorable aspect. Having over half a dozen characters risks creating repetition in any game, yet CoM does a fantastic job of creating individual identities for every character. Their play styles require different tactics from the player that makes each character feel truly different and not just a different flavour of the same meal. Linda is ranged whilst John is melee, with Joey being slower and more methodical, but I shall not elaborate further to avoid spoilers.

    What sets CoM above similar titles for me is that with each death or completed mission you can retain your money and experience points, therefore having a tangible progression, making each playthrough more beneficial than the last. Each character has skills that benefit the whole family and this gives you an incentive to play as each character.

    The game itself I think is just about the right length, as this avoids inane repetition. The last two levels in particular of CoM are very mechanical both in theme and in practice, so it's good the game didn't outstay its welcome, however there are NG+ options for those who really enjoy this.

    Overall, CoM was a difficult start for me as I struggled to defeat early enemies, however I became more engrossed as I played and loved it and can easily recommend the game to most gamers.    … Expand

    A masterpiece within the roguelike genre. This game surprised me a lot, its story is amazing and its gaming experience gets better with each game session. Its an excellent game for those looking for quality content and beautiful graphics.

    I didn't like it that much at the beginning but the game really grew on me. Beautiful visuals and a fun hack and slash gameplay. The story was ok...not great but not bad as well....
    I liked the diverse number of characters, each one being unique compared to the others, I found the starter character John really boring though but every other character was fun to play with.

    Fun skill tree, corruption fatigue system where you're forced to play with different characters not letting you finish the game with only one of them and a local co-op support

    beautiful and perfect . Comes with pixel graphics and fantastic design. Good narrator and interesting creatures and stories.

    This game is something special. There are a million roguelike games with pixelated graphics out there, but this is the cream of the crop. The Diablo-like combat with different family members works beautifully, as they all play distinctly from each other, and you will gravitate to some more than others based on the roles you like.     Beautiful rouge like , with beautiful pixel art and fascinating story.
    Production quality is admirable especially for an indie developer, huge jump in quality from dead mage's previous games.

    Très bon rogue lite,hack slash,action rpg,qui a le mérite de nous transporter avec son histoire et ses graphismes pixel art au **** oignons.
    Suivre cette famille à été un réel enchantement. Les seuls points négatifs sont le manque de suivi par rapport à la version PC,et,la difficulté un peu basse pour un jeu du genre.

    I absolutely loved this game. You start out fairly weak and feel like the odds are completely stacked against you, but you gradually learn how to evade attacks and use your abilities effectively. Just as you start to feel comfortable, the difficulty climbs again keeping things fun. Depending on the items you find, you'll have runs where you die immediately and runs where you feel like anI absolutely loved this game. The story is simple but binds it all together in a way that made me care about the characters and their fate.

    My suggestion, as others have said: take your time with it. It is short, but a fair length for the price. The best $20 I've spent on a game. 10/10, wish I wipe my memory and play it again fresh.    … Expand

    One of few games I have platinumed (all trophys). One of the best in roguelite genre with good permanent progression system, huge variety of characters that plays completely different, amazing narration (way better than in Biomutant) and gameplay that reminds me of Diablo series.

    Charming game, decent story, not too much replay-ability.
    each character is unique enough to set them apart.
    The graphics is meh... a bit too pixelated, sometimes it's hard to differentiate between enemies and environment obstacles.

    I dont like pixelated games but this made me so happy. Good story, fun to play and easy controling! Who cares diablo3?

    If you are a Fan of Diablo and 8-16 Bit Games, its a must Play! The narrative is so good and the Story...ಥ‿ಥ.

    Children of Morta is a wonderful rogue-like ARPG, with a lot of deep layers in terms of gameplay mechanics, that does a terrific job of acting as an underlay to the simple, but dark, atmospheric story. Everything intertwines together splendidly, and seeing how each character can help to buff up their family members via their shared abilities, both in each characters unique skill trees, or the household's base stat upgrades, there are plenty of moving pieces here that all contribute towards the family's mission to end the Corruption. No run is ever wasted, with each failed attempt still rewarding the family with some positive enhancements for the next run, until that eventual stage boss is defeated. For those who are looking for a new rogue-like to jump into, this should definitely not be missed.

    While the hack and slash gameplay of each individual character is somewhat simple, the variance between each of the six is substantial, keeping things fairly fresh throughout the many runs. Additionally, skill trees and constant stat improvements grant a sense of empowerment and progression. It may not upheave the mechanical norms of roguelikes, but Children of Morta does a good job of weaving storytelling into the well-worn tropes of the genre to create something that feels unique.
