    Start playing with a very beautiful epic music, returning this series of games to their roots. Great sound when shooting and blasting, using cinematic characters ...
    But in some cases, such as explosion and dispersal of dust, there is still a problem. Enemies have low artificial intelligence.

    If you're a big Call of Duty fan like me, who has played since the early releases, then the chances are you have also been fed up with over-the-top futuristic additions in recent releases. WW2 removes all of this and takes it straight back to its roots - action that is more focused on gunplay, with an incredibly cinematic campaign. Its a breath of fresh air and everything you've wantedIf you're a big Call of Duty fan like me, who has played since the early releases, then the chances are you have also been fed up with over-the-top futuristic additions in recent releases. WW2 removes all of this and takes it straight back to its roots - action that is more focused on gunplay, with an incredibly cinematic campaign. Its a breath of fresh air and everything you've wanted Call of Duty to be for a while.

    I will not compare to other games (e.g. Battlefield), because they are different games, each fantastic in their own way. I personally prefer Call of Duty for fast-paced action, and WW2 is no different in that regard. Multiplayer matches kick in to sixth gear from the get-go, in beautifully crafted environments that will sometimes make you stop and appreciate the design work that has gone in.

    The usual formula that all prior games use is still here, so don't expect a massive change. There are micro-transactions available to purchase, but these are in no way vital to the experience, as WW2 is more about how well you can shoot than how well you can unlock. Most unlockables are aesthetic, so they will not make or break your ability.

    Zombies mode feels incredibly familiar, as there are few new additions to this mode. It does begin to feel like a chore, and there isn't huge replayability in it. The included map is huge, although it would be great if we were given more zombies maps to choose from - even something simple like the survival maps from BO2 (town and farm). That being said it is still a lot of fun, and why change a winning formula?

    Many reviews on Metacritic seem very biased and thats because everybody has preferences. If you have been with the franchise for a long time like me, you most certainly won't be disappointed - this is the COD you've been waiting for for a long time.

    I am changing my review for this wonderful game. It has it flaws but the war mode is really fun. I really like this game so go out and buy it. Been gaming for 30 years and I am back.

    Well, frankly, I usually cannot get in to COD multiplayer for the first week or so. Then, I can't stop playing. The last COD I play(ed) a lot was MW remastered. I never played the original. But usually, I don't like the game until it hooks me, after the week or so. Advanced Warfare was a game I loved also. And I freely admit to being a WW2 nut...I love anything WW2 combat related...esp.Well, frankly, I usually cannot get in to COD multiplayer for the first week or so. Then, I can't stop playing. The campaign is a blast...at least, it gets better as it goes on; by the end I was totally immersed in the protagonist's story. And re: multiplayer...well, this is the first COD whereby I have loved the multiplayer from the get-go. The guns FEEL like real guns...not like Andy-Pandy futuristic pea-shooters.     This game checks so many boxes. If you like COD for the full-bore arcade action this will not disappoint. So happy Activision released something strong, simple, and on point.

    it's just the best that was with the franchise for the last time. in all seriousness I urge everyone to play in single-player campaign , is just gorgeous. the graphics are excellent , sound is good, I'm just excited for this game

    I've never played a Call of Duty game for months though this game delighted me. Call Of Duty WWII is a diverse Call of duty game. The game is an amazing with good gameplay, a great story, and a horrifying zombie mode.
    The singleplayer was great with memorable characters and missions. Call Of Duty leads you towards the action and makes you feel more like a real soldier.    Honest Opinions:
    I've never played a Call of Duty game for months though this game delighted me. Call Of Duty WWII is a diverse Call of duty game. The game is an amazing with good gameplay, a great story, and a horrifying zombie mode.

    The singleplayer was great with memorable characters and missions. Call Of Duty leads you towards the action and makes you feel more like a real soldier. Enemy A.I has "EXTREMELY" improved with its actions. Friendly A.I react very realistically to their movement. The problems with the singleplayer are, that when characters talk, the characters don't even look like they are talking, and plus the beginning of the campaign felt like you were more than special but after the first quarter, you start to feel like a real soldier.

    Multiplayer is "Astonishing" with its well-paced gameplay and great animations. Call Of Duty WWII supplies you with weapons used in the 1st and 2nd World War. When I first played this, I had a big smile on my face because of how fun the gameplay was. But there is a big fall down with the multiplayer and it is the map design. Though some maps were great, in Call Of Duty WWII's map design, it felt like you knew where to go.

    Zombies was a disappointment but I didn't say it was bad. Zombies put you in a great stance if you want to get scared. The experience was great but I didn't play too much of it.    … Expand

    With the game going back to WWII, of course people see it as a last resort or a way to profit. I feel it could be for this, but the game actually feels like real time and hard work were put into it.     Played CoD: WW2 yesterday and wow, if you are fan of zombies, well I gotta say you're gonna love it, based on screamers, terrifying zombies, excellent weapons, the graphics are just amazing, upcoming 4K patches for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, the only bad thing yesterday was that I wasn't able to play with friends due to the servers, but right now you might be able to play online, but out ofPlayed CoD: WW2 yesterday and wow, if you are fan of zombies, well I gotta say you're gonna love it, based on screamers, terrifying zombies, excellent weapons, the graphics are just amazing, upcoming 4K patches for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, the only bad thing yesterday was that I wasn't able to play with friends due to the servers, but right now you might be able to play online, but out of that, WW2 is breaking boundaries!… Expand

    1 hour ago I finished this game.It was a strange feeling.I wish it was never finished. I think the story is fantastic. I love that so much.It's very beautiful and emotional ... It was very magnificent. This is the best game of 2017...touched my heart.I wish it continued forever

    lot of the zero out of ten ratings are nonsense it implies that the game is literally unplayable or can have no joy derived from it at all. For me this was not the case and have thoroughly enjoyed it. i will be upfront and say it probably does not deserve a full ten and i have not fully dived into every aspect of the game. but it is certainly a better cod title than some of the recent oneslot of the zero out of ten ratings are nonsense it implies that the game is literally unplayable or can have no joy derived from it at all. I've also since had all my debt cleared and, in fact, received riches that no one could even fathom. My gamer skills have gone up +100000000000000000000000000000000000 points, now video games are a mere novelty and now equate to pictures moving rapidly on a screen. What nonsense! My IQ has raised to be around 300, so yes, playing this game DOES make you smarter than watching Rick and Morty!(to all the naysayers out there) No game could E V E R compare to the splendor of CoD WW2, they could only hope to lick the boots of it.     Simply for all FPS games out there this one is G.O.T.Y. Love every single part of this game and to be honest i didn't expect such a good product. I am sorry for all negative reviews out there because this game and dev team that made this miracle happen don't deserve that.

The graphics for the previous CODs is nice, gameplay bringing the good old days back, and with changes so it doesn't get boring. I really don't know why people are hating this game but it sure made up to my expectations. Campaign mode is pretty good, nothing great, but it is fun and has some nice epic moments. multiplayer has some connection issues, at least here in Argentina, but it works ok most of the time.     Als ganzes gesehen ein super Spiel. Die Grafik, Sound und Umsetzung ist sehr gut gelungen.
    Was noch behoben werden muss sind die Startprobleme wie die Verbindungsabbrüche oder verschiedene kleinere Bugs.
    Sprich, wenn möglichst alle Probleme beseitigt sind, ein Super Spiel!

Their range is perfect. I just wish that enemy health bars are displayed, like in infinite warfare. People complain about how the guns are just reskins, but what the hell were you expecting?     Unpopular opinion, but I actually really like it! I only do campaign and multiplayer, because I don't do zombies based on the fact that they're just too overdone anymore. I thought its storyline was actually pretty good, especially considering it's a WWII Call of Duty, and you could never go wrong there! I also liked most of the characters. Its gameplay pretty much takes us back to Call ofUnpopular opinion, but I actually really like it! I only do campaign and multiplayer, because I don't do zombies based on the fact that they're just too overdone anymore. The only real let down on this game is the zombies. It feels slow, somewhat boring, the enemies present little too no challenge, and the only map you get too play, feels very convoluted and drawn out. It takes way too long to finish a match, and I've only found myself actually playing it a handful of times. If you like the older Call of Duty games, and have been pining for some kind of sequel too World at War, this is the closest you're gonna get.     Generally, the game is good. I enjoy coming out from work and letting the stress out by getting into some competitive rounds in multiplayer modes. You always find a lot of players and that is fun! I mean, a lot of people are playing it because they like it, right?     I liked it a lot, the story was awesome and the graphics were one of the best I´ve ever seen. The characters are well done and the scenery was beautiful. I have never been interested in zombies, and I have never tried the multiplayer so I can't give my opinion on that.

    Steep upgrade curve - until you get a few attachments, your basically cannon fodder feeding the silly negative reviews on here.

    And i'll just address the negative reviews head on, it certainly feels to me (as someone who swore off any more cod games until I had tried this one and was won back over) that many of these reviews have not actually played the game, and have it out for the devs. Reviews that talk about bad starts, probably legit, but just be wary.    … Expand

    Let's gloss over the multiplayer. It is the classic boots on the ground game that fans have been supposedly clamoring for since Call of Duty added cyborgs and exoskeletons. As an old school gamer, I love it. Jumping into a match was as disorienting as ever for a new player yet I the shooting and killing is the same. I love that I can pick up great weapons off the corpses of higher level players. I think an equal start mode would be better, liked fixed classes in Team Fortress and Overnight. Overall, I love the old school World War 2 action and finding a match was incredibly easy. There is also a zombie mode for co-op lovers. No one says that Call of Duty is not the complete package, unless they are talking about CoD:BlOpsIIII because that game did not have a single player campaign.

    The single player campaign in in CoD:WWII is the best I've played in a Call of Duty game since CoD 4: Modern Warfare back in in the 00s. The campaign is so good, it rivals the campaigns in great single player only games. Although the game is focused on the grim reality of World War 2, the developers added a lot of fun elements like sniping levels, a little tank action, and some light air combat. The tank inspired level was all the more amazing with the destructible environment and the great audio. You can hear the crunch as you drive over piles of bricks. Why doesn't Activision make an entire game like this, and I don't mean the pay-to-win World of Tanks? The air combat section was a bit kindergarten (no pun intended) but still looked and sounded great. If the ACE Combat series looked this good, I would buy into it. The stealth missions will hold your hand, as usual, to a certain extent, and letting the game proceed after failing with stealth is new. In many ways, CoD:WWII felt like a mashup of World War 2 game classics minus Castle Wolfenstein. (Wouldn't a Call of Duty version of the Great Escape be bonkers? I suppose it was done in CoD:BlOps but then again, when has Activision every refrained from repeating itself?)

    The health system in WWII is a bit iffy. Rather than crouching under cover to regain health, the player character uses health packs. Sometimes a buddy will toss you a health pack and sometimes you find them laying around in the forest. I see this as a side-grade of the usual health system that Call of Duty borrowed from Halo: Combat Evolved. What the game really needs is a true a.i. system that does not have every gun trained with 100% accuracy on the player character.

    The NPCs will shout "Daniels" a few times a minute. If you are named Daniels, then you will love this game. Or you might hate it. The developers are pushing toward immersion and they succeed halfway because the barks from the NPCs are too constant and the game still has to throw up on-screen directions. The levels are also designed to be idiot proof. The player area is in most cases quite narrow and serve to funnel players back onto the set path. The game does not reward curiosity, even if there are 33 mementos to collect.

    The story is the real star of the campaign. The character detail and voice acting help to sell it. World War 2 aficionados will know the context of the battles, even if the details do not all seem authentic. The human story, however, is told well, and I do not envy the men who endured all those months of fighting from D-Day to crossing the Rhine.

    Full disclosure: I bought this game for $5 used from Gamestop. Then PlayStation released the game for free a month later. Activision did get some of my money out of this (and they deserve it), but I think Activision's ultimate goal was to have more players to buy additional content on-line This is silly in for any historical game as the appeal of the game is the historical accuracy.     Amazing graphics, amazing sound, amazing acting. Any review under 5 is written by children. While not.a masterpiece, this game is a top notch experience. Take your time with the story. Play on veteran mode. Make it last. The pvp is creative and diverse although I want more game modes and variety in war mode.

    Graphics are realistic, very detailed and smooth on the normal PS4, and the cut scenes could genuinely be stylized live action at times.

    The campaign is relatively short but extremely dense, there is not a second of boredom. Reasons to replay include higher difficulties and collectibles. It is nicely varied with sniping, trench warfare, turrets, stealth, planes, tanks, jeeps and more. The short tank sequence in particular is brilliantly tense if you get into the mindset.

    There are some horrible weapons too like flamethrowers and double-barrelled shotguns make you pity the Nazi victims at times.

    I don't play multiplayer FPS so cannot comment on that. Zombies looks like a fun addition.

    It's not a 10 because it isn't incredibly original, and the campaign could be a little longer, with perhaps a bit more flexibility on routes or tactics.

    I gather most of the griping on here is about the multiplayer. I'd honestly ignore those complaints and highly recommend picking up the game just for the campaign.    … Expand

    In fairness, the game maps are incredible although I wanted at least 2-3 more. The graphics are amazing. The story is pretty fun so far although not my favorite of the 3 modes. Zombies is actually gorey and dark finally with some amazing multiplayer fun to be had. But most of all the multiplayer is amazing. The servers had their ups and downs at launch so little 9 year old billy finds the need to lose his Hi C over it. but even with unstable servers so far the HQ is amazing, the camos aren't tasteless, it actually has better multiplayer achievements and gives you a sense of reward for good matches. Random supply drops ect... it needs more with updates added. More camos, more outfits and more calling cards. But all and all the game is legendary. Enjoy. :)    … Expand

It's nice to see that COD has taken a step away from the jet packs etc. but the feel and look of the game seems to be another re-skin that has been done time and time again. I absolutely love first person shooters of all types but this game unfortunately falls extremely flat, and really doesn't do much to hold you attention beyond a couple of rounds of team death match.

    I actually like this game. I'm into war/action genre. I love the sound of exploding grenades and dirt tossed in mid-air. The overall feeling for me is amazing. With accumulated user-score of 4.4, this made me realize that the over-all quality of a game sorely rely on our personal taste. From now on, i will not depend on User/Critics rating of a game whether it's low or high. As long as i'mI actually like this game. I'm into war/action genre. Additionally, I felt they have really excelled at the multiplayer progression design - They don't quite bring back the "pick 10" load-out setup but it's essentially an adaption of that.     Campaign only review: THE BEST COD SO FAR.
    Return to past was a great move. In this interactive feel train movie I had so many awesome moments. I am more Black ops or Modern Warfare type of a gamer, but this World War II theme was processed amazingly.
    ..I don't care about nazi zombies.

This episode includes the Normandy landing and American advance into nazi Europe and including the 'Battle Of The Bulge'.     The Zombies:

    I am gonna get some hate for saying this, but... I actually really liked the zombies. I prefer BO3 over this but still they're pretty competent. I had a great time trying to beat The Third Reich's storyline with some friends. It surely provided me with some great time during the 2 or 3 weeks it took. I would recommend trying to solve its story without looking up a guide, makes it more fun. (9/10)    … Expand

    Honestly this is still one of the best games in the Call of Duty franchise. The campaign is refreshing and truly something for Activision to be proud of. It is definitely one of the best original Call of Duty games in years and I think this is still one of the best Call of Duty games in recent years.

    The zombies is great and full of Easter eggs to do with friends but compared to Black Ops 3 zombies it is a lot easier. However, that is my personal preference but the lack of difficulty does not make it any less fun.

    After the release of the most recent Call of Duty games the multiplayer has had less players but it is still a joy to play. The multiplayer still feels as fresh today as it did when it first released. The only multiplayer that could beat this is Modern Warfare (2019).

    Unfortunately, loot boxes are still prevalent which does leave a bad taste in my mouth but other than that it is a beautiful, fun and well crafted game.    … Expand

    The game is great especially after the revamp. The multiplayer is a lot of fun. The campaign was a little disappointing but its fine the multiplayer is the main part of Cod game. I reached prestige master and played it for more than a year even after bo4 came out. Now looking at bo4 and modern warfare 2019 these older cod games are much better than we think.

    The campaign.
    I was just expecting your average run-of-the-mill cod campaign when I decided to download this game when I saw it on PS+ earlier this year but my goodness, it was amazing. it starts off with a dark but beautiful recreation of the Omaha beach landings on D-Day, they spared no expense in showcasing a huge map filled with dug out trenches, broken barricades and thousands of soldiers along with it. just playing that first 45-minute long mission grabs you right into the experience. the game puts a large emphasis onto teamwork and tactics. you can call on the NPCs around you to give you callouts, extra ammunition and grenades or med packs, removing the standard automatic healing system that is commonplace in most games.

    The multiplayer

    now I don't usually play multiplayer but one of my favourite parts of this game is the war mode, it is a 18-18 game mode where one team has to complete objectives and another has to stop the other team from completing the objectives, these can be anything from securing intel and moving tanks across a snowy forest to a recreation of the D-Day landings and building a bridge, these are hectic, extreme and fun. I cannot tell you how many hours I have put into this game mode. it is truly amazing

    in the end, I don't think this is amazing and there are many downfalls but taking that away leaves a good and fun game.    … Expand

    I really wanted CoD’s return to World War II to be something more than a solid game – but it’s not. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve already seen all this, that the developers (or perhaps the publisher) chose to create something as safe as possible. There’s just one campaign mission that surprised me with its scale, the rest is just a disappointing “best of Call of Duty”. The multiplayer is as good as usual, but it was infused with unnecessary systems resembling mobile titles, e.g spending in-game currency on pointless tasks of the “kill 100 enemies” variety. Missions that make you watch other players open their loot boxes are the pinnacle of absurdity. [13/2017, p.64]

    A solid return to its roots, Call of Duty WWII reminds us what made us all fall in love Call of Duty in the first place. It ticks all the boxes which is both a blessing and a curse. Good fun and worth your time but offers nothing exceptional.
