A great return back to the origins for the franchise, the gameplay is very similar to others CoD the graphic is improved but the awesome in this is the campain C.o.D. WWII has a very cool campain mode, multiplayer is very different compared to others and is very cool to play for the zombie mode is seem very too easy to play but is still good play it with friend

You play as Ronald “Red” Daniels set in different times dusting World War 2. Obviously with a COD game it’s going to look great but they game took my breath away at some points because of how real it looked it happens when one of your partners get shot and you are dragging them all of a sudden a cutscene starts playing and I swear it looks so real it’s crazy, I even showed it to my stepdad who love watching war stuff and he I think had a hard time thinking that it was a game it looked that real. The gameplay is always solid the guns feel great to use because they are all from the 40s or when ever World War 2 happened. But the guns always feel like real weapons because of how they feel and sound. But it doesn’t mean the game is going to hold your hand oh no, they game is difficult even from the start you play on the first level D-Day on the beach it doesn’t hold back, but sometimes there are easy levels then it goes back to BS levels. Overall it’s a very beautiful looking game and one of the most dark COD games I have played it’s free for anyone who has a PlayStation Plus subscription. Expand

I only played the campaign and I just can say that I liked it. Graphics are good and gameplay as well. I normally play games english but because I would have to change the language of my ps4 I played directly in Spanish. VoicesI only played the campaign and I just can say that I liked it. Voices were ok but the recording of the voices was quite bad (sometimes loud, sometimes low). I didn't try the zombies because I'm not a fan of them. Good game.

The campaign is 11 missions plus the epilog and each mission last about half an hour so it will take you about 6 hours.

The zombies is great and full of Easter eggs to do with friends but compared to Black Ops 3 zombies it is a lot easier. However, that is my personal preference but the lack of difficulty does not make it any less fun.

After the release of the most recent Call of Duty games the multiplayer has had less players but it is still a joy to play. The multiplayer still feels as fresh today as it did when it first released. The only multiplayer that could beat this is Modern Warfare (2019).

Unfortunately, loot boxes are still prevalent which does leave a bad taste in my mouth but other than that it is a beautiful, fun and well crafted game.

    The campaign.
I was just expecting your average run-of-the-mill cod campaign when I decided to download this game when I saw it on PS+ earlier this year but my goodness, it was amazing. it starts off with a dark but beautiful recreation of the Omaha beach landings on D-Day, they spared no expense in showcasing a huge map filled with dug out trenches, broken barricades and thousands of soldiers along with it. just playing that first 45-minute long mission grabs you right into the experience. the game puts a large emphasis onto teamwork and tactics. you can call on the NPCs around you to give you callouts, extra ammunition and grenades or med packs, removing the standard automatic healing system that is commonplace in most games.

    The multiplayer

now I don't usually play multiplayer but one of my favourite parts of this game is the war mode, it is a 18-18 game mode where one team has to complete objectives and another has to stop the other team from completing the objectives, these can be anything from securing intel and moving tanks across a snowy forest to a recreation of the D-Day landings and building a bridge, these are hectic, extreme and fun. I cannot tell you how many hours I have put into this game mode. it is truly amazing

in the end, I don't think this is amazing and there are many downfalls but taking that away leaves a good and fun game.

Call of Duty: WWII is peak Call of Duty to me (because I have not played the Modern Warfare reboot or CoD:BlOpsIIII). I think back to playing Call of Duty: Ghosts a few years into the current generation and thinking about how awful it looks next to PS4 exclusives like Uncharted 4. Now we have a Call of Duty that finally looks, feels, and sounds like a current gen game. Activision stoppedCall of Duty: WWII is peak Call of Duty to me (because I have not played the Modern Warfare reboot or CoD:BlOpsIIII). I think back to playing Call of Duty: Ghosts a few years into the current generation and thinking about how awful it looks next to PS4 exclusives like Uncharted 4. Now we have a Call of Duty that finally looks, feels, and sounds like a current gen game. Activision stopped counting money and finally made a great game.

Let's gloss over the multiplayer. It is the classic boots on the ground game that fans have been supposedly clamoring for since Call of Duty added cyborgs and exoskeletons. As an old school gamer, I love it. Jumping into a match was as disorienting as ever for a new player yet I the shooting and killing is the same. I love that I can pick up great weapons off the corpses of higher level players. I think an equal start mode would be better, liked fixed classes in Team Fortress and Overnight. Overall, I love the old school World War 2 action and finding a match was incredibly easy. There is also a zombie mode for co-op lovers. No one says that Call of Duty is not the complete package, unless they are talking about CoD:BlOpsIIII because that game did not have a single player campaign.

The single player campaign in in CoD:WWII is the best I've played in a Call of Duty game since CoD 4: Modern Warfare back in in the 00s. The campaign is so good, it rivals the campaigns in great single player only games. Although the game is focused on the grim reality of World War 2, the developers added a lot of fun elements like sniping levels, a little tank action, and some light air combat. The tank inspired level was all the more amazing with the destructible environment and the great audio. You can hear the crunch as you drive over piles of bricks. Why doesn't Activision make an entire game like this, and I don't mean the pay-to-win World of Tanks? The air combat section was a bit kindergarten (no pun intended) but still looked and sounded great. If the ACE Combat series looked this good, I would buy into it. The stealth missions will hold your hand, as usual, to a certain extent, and letting the game proceed after failing with stealth is new. In many ways, CoD:WWII felt like a mashup of World War 2 game classics minus Castle Wolfenstein. (Wouldn't a Call of Duty version of the Great Escape be bonkers? I suppose it was done in CoD:BlOps but then again, when has Activision every refrained from repeating itself?)

The health system in WWII is a bit iffy. Rather than crouching under cover to regain health, the player character uses health packs. Sometimes a buddy will toss you a health pack and sometimes you find them laying around in the forest. I see this as a side-grade of the usual health system that Call of Duty borrowed from Halo: Combat Evolved. What the game really needs is a true a.i. system that does not have every gun trained with 100% accuracy on the player character.

The NPCs will shout "Daniels" a few times a minute. If you are named Daniels, then you will love this game. Or you might hate it. The developers are pushing toward immersion and they succeed halfway because the barks from the NPCs are too constant and the game still has to throw up on-screen directions. The levels are also designed to be idiot proof. The player area is in most cases quite narrow and serve to funnel players back onto the set path. The game does not reward curiosity, even if there are 33 mementos to collect.

The story is the real star of the campaign. The character detail and voice acting help to sell it. World War 2 aficionados will know the context of the battles, even if the details do not all seem authentic. The human story, however, is told well, and I do not envy the men who endured all those months of fighting from D-Day to crossing the Rhine.

Full disclosure: I bought this game for $5 used from Gamestop. Then PlayStation released the game for free a month later. Activision did get some of my money out of this (and they deserve it), but I think Activision's ultimate goal was to have more players to buy additional content on-line This is silly in for any historical game as the appeal of the game is the historical accuracy. If Activision focuses on making good games, people will buy them.

Great cut-scenes, with a decent story and great voice acting. The multiplayer is also pretty good, though it is lacking in game modes, and maps, but more than makes up for in customization. There are so many weapons in this game, it almost borders on absurd. Some of the guns are just worthless, and have no place, but with the huge selection too choose from you are left with countless possibilities for crafting your own play style. The only real let down on this game is the zombies. It feels slow, somewhat boring, the enemies present little too no challenge, and the only map you get too play, feels very convoluted and drawn out. It takes way too long to finish a match, and I've only found myself actually playing it a handful of times. If you like the older Call of Duty games, and have been pining for some kind of sequel too World at War, this is the closest you're gonna get. Don't let the outrage mob try too convince you this isn't a good game, it's just different from what most people are used too. Expand

I still have to admit it is impressive how the developers caught up what must have been one of the worlds darkest times.

I played this on a PS4 Pro with SSD and I can say there were no framedrops, bluescreens, bugs or long loading times. The game engine provides an intense and brilliant game feeling even facial animations are top notch in this one. Weapons lack a little bit and some weapon handling could be improved. The campaign progresses throughout 12 missions that will take you busy for around 7hrs. Gameplay is covered by quick time events (which are imho more frustrating then useful) and very well made cutscenes.

The world is fittingly dark but the developers were able to bring in diversity with different characters, emotional bonds and nice locations you have to visit not forgetting what it means to be out on the battlefield.

Afterall if you buy it only for the campaign it might be a bit pricey but once again this campaign proves to be very worthy in my opinion.

This game contains a truly fantastic single player campaign. Story as good as most Hollywood war movies, not far off the likes of Fury (simple and overly patriotic but entertaining). Gameplay is tight, accurate and very rewarding.

In my opinion it does what it sets out to do excellently. Don't expect the depth of an open world RPG- this is an action packed, linear shooter that rewards reflexes and accuracy. The story knits it together nicely and has some moral and historical messages that while a little trite might be of value to those not familiar with WW2 history.

Graphics are realistic, very detailed and smooth on the normal PS4, and the cut scenes could genuinely be stylized live action at times.

The campaign is relatively short but extremely dense, there is not a second of boredom. Reasons to replay include higher difficulties and collectibles. It is nicely varied with sniping, trench warfare, turrets, stealth, planes, tanks, jeeps and more. The short tank sequence in particular is brilliantly tense if you get into the mindset.

There are some horrible weapons too like flamethrowers and double-barrelled shotguns make you pity the Nazi victims at times.

I don't play multiplayer FPS so cannot comment on that. Zombies looks like a fun addition.

It's not a 10 because it isn't incredibly original, and the campaign could be a little longer, with perhaps a bit more flexibility on routes or tactics.

I gather most of the griping on here is about the multiplayer. I'd honestly ignore those complaints and highly recommend picking up the game just for the campaign.

The characters, they have charisma and you really get to care about them, having importance in the story and in the gameplay, helping you with supplies and techniques. You will have differnt types of gameplay, controlling a tank or a plane for example, giving a little of variety to the gameplay. Generally isn't that original or anything, but still pretty fun.
Multiplayer: The multiplayer isn't the best of the franchise, but it's pretty fun. They added some modes that really are worth to talk about, the mode War, it consists in one team trying do advance and complete one objective per time, and the other trying to stop it, this mode really explore the map and how you can use the map in favor or against you, it really reminded me from Rush in Battlefield 3, the mode Pop Hunt that is based on things that already existed but is soo much fun, i enjoyed that one very much, it consist in one team becoming and object and hiding, during the other is trying to find those, playing that with friends are a sure fun moment. The variety of weapons considerable, hand to hand and shooting weapons.
Zombies: This mode in this game really made me had a lot of fun, the zombies here aren't completely new but have some good and interesting inovation, the prologue passes in a small house and you can work around that and keep going on wave to wave, very fun to do it so. The Final Reich worked very well to me, a i did enjoyed how the map was constructed and how it worked out, the amount of enemies is ok, not very much. What i really liked it, are the easter eggs, it took time and aren't that easy to do, if you can get together some friends to do them, you will definely have some hours of fun and struggling.
This Call of Duty is the first one that i played since BO2, so i wasn't bored or even knowing what was going on on the franchise very much, so it possibly counted to this review.

In the campaign I have noticed a step forward for the next games of the saga (not extremely large but if remarkable) with the incorporation of point and click and some decision making. This can please people or otherwise but personally to me I liked it despite not having seen it before in a COD. The plot is quite simple but you always get to enjoy it and in some cases get fondness for certain characters. One of the things that I do not like in this way is the duration of the campaign that goes around 5 or 6 hours but if you are a normal player and even a normal rhythm you can reach 9 hours. The campaign lets you do a lot of things like driving and I think they use the concept of WWII very well note of the campaign 8

However, this year, we see a return to form for the series as it goes back to its "boots on the ground," World War II-era that helped define it as the gold standard for console first-person shooters. Once again, this title offers three main ways to play the game, offering a campaign mode, an online multiplayer component, and the co-op survival Nazi Zombies mode. Appropriately enough, each section will be reviewed separately, and finally summarized as one whole package.

History buffs will fall in love with what the campaign of WWII. The story follows American soldier Private Red Daniels and his journey with his platoon through the Western Front. For those hoping to see the war in the Pacific, I am sad to say that the campaign does not explore that aspect of the war. What is easily noticed is the feeling of the war that is captured quite well through the campaign, as the first mission has Daniels and crew storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. The gruesome nature of battle along with the horrific cries of falling soldiers paints a larger picture of the war altogether. The sound and graphical capabilities of WWII make it one of the best looking games of the year. Throughout the story, players will visit a variety of areas, including war-torn towns, German embassies, and snow-covered forests. The variety in location reminds players that progress is being made on the Western Front, and gives a breath of fresh air. The weapons look and sound how they do to their real life counterparts, clearly the developers did their homework on the weapons and equipment used during this time. This year, the campaign introduces squad abilities. Essentially, killing enemies translates into receiving health packs and ammunition from squad mates, providing a feeling of teamwork with AI companions. The story itself is where WWII falls short, however. Red Daniels and his squad are not the most interesting characters, and while the Axis Powers are certainly the enemies, there is no strong central villain for this more concentrated tale about a squad trying to survive the war. The campaign should take about six hours to complete, with replay value through discovering collectibles and attempting to beat the game on a higher difficulty.

Zombies mode returns and is as strong as ever. Titled "The Third Reich," players have to fend off multiple waves of the undead in an attempt to get the highest round count. Players that are strong at multitasking and working together will be drawn to this mode, and the addition of custom loadouts, objectives, and secrets to discover make the replay value for this mode very high. For those patient and skilled enough, there are many secrets to uncover around the map, as well as an easter egg to complete that has become a staple of the Call of Duty Zombies mode.

Finally, the multiplayer. Call of Duty is famous (or infamous to some) for its solid multiplayer gameplay. Even though the series returned to its roots, the developers at Sledgehammer Games made several changes to how this year's game is played. Create a Class is gone this year, and players now choose divisions to play. Divisions are essentially playstyles that help determine how one plays the game, with each having their own drawbacks and strengths. Choose the Airborne division to rush objectives or flank quickly around the enemy, or decide on the Armored division to set up at a location and hold down lanes. Divisions is an attempt to give more defined roles to players. Perks are replaced as well this year, with one basic training slot being chosen. Paired with a player's division, basic trainings provide a bit more variety to class customization. The loss of the perk system does hinder the experience a bit, though. While customization seems to be simpler, the basic training perks do not encourage a lot of experimentation, making more predictable customization. Gone are the days where players wait in lobbies until their next match begins with the introduction of Headquarters, a player hub where supply drops can be opened, orders can be undertaken, and players can engage in one-on-one combat (my personal favorite). These changes give players a stronger connection to their in game characters, and makes ranking up more meaningful. Supply drops also make a return, but the items earned do not impact in-game statistics of the weapons. Instead, all of the items are cosmetic or XP-based, which I am sure many fans of the series will be happy to hear about. The weakest part of the multiplayer is the map design. The game ships with a total of ten maps, but most of the maps feel unmemorable, at least for the good reasons. New players may find these maps difficult to navigate, as experienced players can position themselves in arguably unfair positions oftentimes.

Call of Duty: WWII is a strong addition to the series, and gives a lot of bang for one's buck. The return to the series roots is welcoming.

Oh yeah: no reason to buy supply crates with real money, just earn them, more fun that way. And not owning certain types of weapons is not game changing. See you online! Expand

Really not sure what the negativity surrounding this title is - This is COD at it's heart and soul. Sledgehammer the developer has done a fantastic job of bringing the WW2 setting back to it's glory. Additionally, I felt they have really excelled at the multiplayer progression design - They don't quite bring back the "pick 10" load-out setup but it's essentially an adaption of that.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I enjoyed this game, especially in the context of the underwhelming COD games of the past few years. I have so far only played the single-player, although I have watched videos of people playing the MP and it looks fun- but I'll restrict my comments to the campaign.
First off, the campaign is largely back to basics and this, for me, is a good thing. Gimmicks like missions spent driving a tank or a plane are there, but kept to a minimum. In the main, missions are you and your platoon engaging in advancing towards and objective through waves of enemies with a few enjoyable stealth segments in the mix. This is what I want from a FPS game. I just want an enjoyable combat experience, no gimmicks, no clunky vehicle missions, just fun FPS action- and, in the main this is what COD WWII delivers. (Although there are still annoyingly clunky vehicle sections (but short ones at least)).

The story of the game was also quite enjoyable for me. I liked the characters, the weren't as 1 dimensional as other COD characters have been, I actually cared whether Zussman survives or not. Indeed the fact that your platoon members all have tangible roles and utility (i.e. one can give you health packs, another one gives ammo, another spots enemies) made it for once feel like in a FPS game I'm not winning the war all on my own.

I also thought that the graphics of the game were better than previous COD games, which I felt had produced largely 'same-old, same-old' graphics. This game looked more detailed and vibrant, for a change- although it could be argued that COD still lags behind other FPS games in this regard.

Turning to negatives, going back to my earlier point- there are still clunky gimmick missions- for example the driving the tank section where you're expected to drive a tank in FP perspective, whilst operating the gun and not getting stuck. The problem is that the vehicle controls are always clunky in games not centred around vehicles, thus sections spent flying planes or driving tanks just end up feeling frustrating and gimmicky. The mission where you deliver the briefcase, although arguably gimmicky as well, involved stealth elements which I found quite enjoyable in this game. Thus it was mainly the driving missions which irked me.

In this game sledgehammer have changed melee hits. In previous COD games (as far as I can recall) melee hits are one hit knife kills. In this game this is only true of stealth melee kills from behind, when you rush an enemy and melee attack you hit them with the butt of your gun, this only stuns enemies at full health. As someone who enjoys classic COD games, I personally want a game that stays true to the basic mechanics of those games. What made this COD enjoyable for me was that it was more similar to classic COD in some ways (i.e. returning to BOTG). However, changing the melee kills, and also removing health regen from campaign seemed pointless- if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I also found that there were some glitches in the campaign, particularly I found that heroic actions, where you drag a wounded teammate back to cover would often not resolve themselves when I got the person to the cover spot. By that I mean my character would not set the wounded teammate down when I got to the spot I was meant to get them to. Also I found that sometimes I would be desperately trying to get off of a turret and my character would not do so not matter what I did.

Finally, if you are going to include gimmicky driving missions, try to make the controls not absolutely unbearably clunky.

Overall, I enjoyed this game (the single-player, at least). It returned to a more classic COD formula- with missions that were standard COD-type missions, nothing crazily innovate but highly enjoyable for me. The world and characters were immersive, the story kept me relatively engaged, with only a few glitches and gimmicks putting a damper on an fun experience. I will almost certainly play this campaign again. In summary, if you enjoyed the campaigns of the previous BOTG COD games, then I'd say you'll enjoy this one. As for the MP, you'll have to read other reviews, because as I said at the start of this review I haven't played it yet.

I don't understand all the hate here. Yes, the servers were bad at launch but oh well. Call of Duty is finally back to its roots with World War 2 and boots on the ground. The single player is great and worth a try. The multiplayer is pretty good and so is the zombies.

Call of Duty has went back to its roots, no more jetpacks, wall running, and etc. But I have seen a large amount of people complaining about micro transactions and loot boxes in WW2. I will be talking about my opinion of CoD WW2, the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies.

Campaign - It's probably one of the best Call of Duty Campaigns up to date. Lots of fun, challenging depending on the difficulty, and more. However I feel like the campaign is a little short, you can complete it within 5 hours, but it doesn't matter, as long as I'm having a good time, I have nothing to complain about.

Multiplayer - Now I will agree that this is probably one of the worst launch for any Call of Duty title, however Sledgehammer is continuing to fix it and multiplayer is now playable. I don't like the fact that you lose some XP or you get the correct amount, I hope they fix that sometime soon. Besides all that, boots on the ground made MP better than the last few CoDs. People are saying that "It's a reskin from the past few CoDs" or "They just copied WAW or BF1", now I will have to highly disagree with this statement, didn't everyone want Boots on the Ground Call of Duty back? Why are they complaining now, by the end of the day they just end up playing it no matter what. MP playing with friends or by yourself is still fun.

Zombies - This mode has been in the last few CoDs, starting with WAW, BO1, BO2, AW, BO3, IW, and now WW2. Now this zombies mode doesn't beat Treyach Zombies, theirs will always be my favorite out of all of the CoDs. However zombies is still fun, especially with friends. Sledgehammer did a good job with the map (The Final Reich), zombies can come out of no where and they actually look terrifying, yet they can even scare you at times. I wish there were more maps to play on but I guess we will just have to wait for more DLC.

Micro Transactions - Micro-transactions has been in almost every multiplayer game, Overwatch, Rainbow 6 Siege, Battlefront 2, and more. It's not surprising that Call of Duty: WW2 has micro-transactions, however I see no point of complaining about micro-transactions and here's why. You don't need it. They're just cosmetics for you to wear or use on your guns, and you don't need DLC weapons to be good in a game. To be good in a game, you must be skillful, yes I understand that some CoD players might just sit in corners just to wait for you but here's a solution, throw a grenade to get them out of there. even if they have a DLC weapon or not, they will lose most likely. It's not like Star Wars Battlefront 2 where you get a hero and you become more powerful. Plus people feel the need to get it and the only way to get it is to buy it.... well here's where they're wrong, you don't need to buy items in a game to be good, most likely Sledgehammer is gonna make it so you can spend your Armory Credits on collections to get a DLC weapon and they're not that hard to get. You can complete contracts that will grant you a free supply drop or armory credits or you can be lucky and get a free Rare Supply Drop by the end of the game. So stop complaining, you don't NEED to buy them.

    Issues -
Maps are tiny (Not that bad though)
Some guns are weak (like the Shotguns or some SMGs)
Not enough maps (Only about 9 playable maps, 3 War Maps)
    XP not working correctly
Disconnected by the end of the game
Party not working correctly (Sometimes it will kick you out or you will see a black screen until the next game starts)

Other than that I gave CoD WW2 a 8/10, not a great launch but it is a great game, boot on the ground is back, fun game, I would give it a try.

The campaign is a blast...at least, it gets better as it goes on; by the end I was totally immersed in the protagonist's story. And re: multiplayer...well, this is the first COD whereby I have loved the multiplayer from the get-go. The guns FEEL like real guns...not like Andy-Pandy futuristic pea-shooters. And the maps feel epic from the word go. Honestly? I could not be more impressed with this game thus far. Love it. Expand

If you want to rant about companies taking your money, go to battlefront 2. Now for the review. Campaign was awesome, Multiplayer was nice, and despite what others are saying about sniping, it can be done, it just requires skill lmao. shotguns actually work in this game, and aren't just filler weapons. Their range is perfect. I just wish that enemy health bars are displayed, like in infinite warfare. People complain about how the guns are just reskins, but what the hell were you expecting? You cant just make fictional weapons and call it WW2. TL;DR: Stop hating on this game, its great. MAKE MORE OF THESE GAMES SLEDGEHAMMER!

I really wanted CoD’s return to World War II to be something more than a solid game – but it’s not. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve already seen all this, that the developers (or perhaps the publisher) chose to create something as safe as possible. There’s just one campaign mission that surprised me with its scale, the rest is just a disappointing “best of Call of Duty”. The multiplayer is as good as usual, but it was infused with unnecessary systems resembling mobile titles, e.g spending in-game currency on pointless tasks of the “kill 100 enemies” variety. Missions that make you watch other players open their loot boxes are the pinnacle of absurdity. [13/2017, p.64]

A solid return to its roots, Call of Duty WWII reminds us what made us all fall in love Call of Duty in the first place. It ticks all the boxes which is both a blessing and a curse. Good fun and worth your time but offers nothing exceptional.
