    Brawlout is a super smash brothers game if super smash brothers had absolutely 0 character or charm. This gme is mediocre to its core and im baffled how the game is being sold and not just given away. In Brawlout you start by choosing your mode..     This gme is mediocre to its core and im baffled how the game is being sold and not just given away.
    In Brawlout you start by choosing your mode.. Couch, which is of course local multplayer with up to 4 players, online, a weekly tournament, and finally single player.. and theres not much here at all..
    Single player has a quick play mode where you can create your own match, alter the difficulty of your oppoinents and play either teams or no teams…
    As far as tournament mode there are 3 tournaments to choose from where you can play either 1 on 1, 1 vs 2 or 1 vs 3.. trying to climb the tower for a cash prize… cash that can be used to buy a piñata for one single skin or emote… you will be playing for hours just to unlock one random skin..
    hours in a game that is just mindless button bashing…
    I get tghat a game like brawlout has everything going against it.. its obviously going to be compared to one of the greatest fighting games of all time as it follows the same formula…
    2 to 4 characters damage the other person until theyre easier to hit further and knock them off screen…
    but what brawlout lack is life and character..
    If youre going to create a game with mostly new characters. You need a proper campaign toall me to get to know these characters, teir move sets.. their stories.. get me to care… to want to get good with someone because I like their story… instead the story is dwindled down to a couple liens of dialog throughout a tournament… it just feels lazy and makes this game feel unfinished.. even cartoon networks punchtime explosion had a campaign…and it had a full cast of characters people already cared about..
    I just cant recommend this game… not to anyone,,,
    the game will at times though rare chug along forcing a restart, theres next to nothing on the single player side… there are only 9 characters with the remaining 15 being only a variant of 6 of them.. not even proper new characters… the combat is button mashy, and the 10 maps here feel lifeless

    In this last console generation there have been quite a number of attempts at capturing the feeling that the Super Smash Bros series brings. These games that invoke such a gameplay style are typically called "Platform Fighters," and all have varying degrees of success with this 20 year old formula.

    I am going to give credit where credit is due. The character design in this game is solid, and the graphics look better than almost any other 2.5d platform fighter I've seen (not comparing Smash because that is just not fair.) Like the character models look better than a certain Playstation themed platform fighter, so that is most certainly a plus.

    I must also give praise for the dev team managing to do a commendable job at putting characters like Hyper Light Drifter, Juan (from Guacamelee,) Yooka Laylee, and the guy from Dead Cells into an artstyle with 3D models while still retaining aspects of their respectful series.

    The backgrounds of certain stages are also kind of pleasing to look at as well.

    However. While the actual art style and character design is good for the most part, the core gameplay is horrendous. Every action feels stiff and cheap. Animations seem to have a strange end lag that just feels awkward. There is an interesting system using a meter which acts as both a combo breaker like move, and as a sort of rage like mode. Unfortunately this mode is poorly explained in game and I had to figure it out on my own. While I didn't have too much trouble understanding this, I can see where the average player may not understand this system.

    There is online as well, but it runs atrociously. There also just isn't much replay value to the game as you essentially can only unlock costumes, which I swear by Playstation Allstars is one of the laziest forms of replayability. I would rather be unlocking unique characters and stages to justify me learning this game's mechanics.

    In conclusion I tried to be nice to Brawlout, I really did. I often try to have an open mind when it comes to different forms of entertainment. However I just cannot bring myself to defending such a poor gameplay system that I am paying literal money for. The literal only reason I'd play this game again is for the indie characters. Aside from that I wouldn't even recommend playing Brawlout even if it were free.

    I hate doing this, but I recommend just buying Rivals of Aether if you feel you need to spend money. The combat in that is much smoother and it also has its fair share of indie characters. If you want something that is free then just download Brawlhalla or Rumble Arena. The latter has actual unique characters that don't rip off Smash too, and is constantly updating the graphics and combat system due to community feedback.    … Expand

    This Game is an example of how not to do a Smash Bros. Clone. Just like Brawlhalla, the characters are bland, I and feel no sense of improvement while I play. The characters are poorly balanced, and have very basic designs. None of these characters stick out like Smash. Overall, the game is just very bland, and is not worth any money.

    Brawlout seems supremely content with the middle ground, to be fun but unremarkable. There’s no Mario, Scorpion, or Comic Book front man on the cover; instead, the obscure roster fails to carry the brawler beyond the appeal of any fighting game with an ongoing legacy. The diamond in the rough comes in the form of free character updates, the next one being the Dead Cells hero. However, I can’t base the final on how much better the experience will be a year from now.

    On a surface level Brawlout is a decent Smash Bros. clone. It's colourful and easy to pick up, but the brawling itself lacks impact and edge. If you're looking for a more casual fighting game experience -- something to play with friends, perhaps -- then it's worth a shout, but keep your expectations in check.

    A tournament level fighter strictly focused on being that and nothing more. Though the rest of the game suffers, with multiple modes to fight in, including online and couch co-op and tournaments abound, this is a good fighter to pick up if you're looking for that specifically, or just want a decent Smash Bros. clone for your kids.
