Probably the most controversial and offensive material to hardcore Assassin's Creed fans in years.

Leaving aside the fact that the expansion massively ignores the franchise's "real" universe, you get a handful of extra hours of mythology, the same atmosphere felt in the base game by the worlds of Asgard & Jotunheim - but amplified (with new stealth/action skills, weapons and builds).

It's dozens of additional hours of the same "beat 'em up" seen in Eivor Varinsdottir's earlier dreams, with a narrative that pretends to make an analogy to the Isu Era when in fact it is simply pleasing fans of high fantasy and God of War.

Conclusion: If you're looking for content that massively expands the Assassins, Templars or Isu lore, DoR is not for you. However, if you just want to have fun in a whole new mythical map with stories that allude to the Norse sagas of Odin and his family, the DLC will provide you with an experience at least cool enough to spend a few hours of your days on it (That is, of course, if the occasional stuttering issues on the console don't bother you in the end).

Fact that some people don't understand that this expansion is supposed to be disconnected from other AC games (Valhalla included) and just be fun mythological game, just shows how far humanity has fallen. These comments like "this is not Assassin's Creed blah blah blah" are top cringe at this point. Valhalla is 100% Assassin's Creed, Dawn of Ragnarok is fun expansion, just Far Cry BloodFact that some people don't understand that this expansion is supposed to be disconnected from other AC games (Valhalla included) and just be fun mythological game, just shows how far humanity has fallen. Dawn of Ragnarok marks the end of Assassin's Creed for me. The graphics are still beautiful, and the combat is somewhat challenging, but the story itself and anything that was ever unique in the AC series is just gone. If you long to play as Odin again you might find some interest in it, but I doubt the almost-full-priced expansion you'd end up buying will make it feel worthy. Dawn of Ragnarok is the last straw for me - The assassins need either a brand new leader, possibly not even Ubisoft, or to be left alone.
