By this point everyone should know what they're getting out of a Warriors style game and that is mindless fun. There's nothing wrong with that either, the formula may not change very much from title to title but it also doesn't need to. There's nothing wrong with that either, the formula may not change very much from title to title but it also doesn't need to. Until someone comes along and seeks to challenge Tecmo Koei they will be the kings of Warriors games. They know what they're doing and they do it best and by now I would think reviewers would be tired of always docking it for it's inability to change. Other game series change less from iteration to iteration and yet they still get good scores, Warriors games add in new and fun ways to tear through crowds (Like in Arslan where you can control an entire army at once and charge down the resisting forces) and they're accused of never changing. The introduction of being able to change playable characters without leaving the stage is an excellent new addition and it really mixes up the action. I don't know what this stigma is that people in the West have about Warriors games but the rest of the world loves them and they're not going anywhere. Arslan is just another great hit among Warriors games and just like other anime spin-offs it stands heads and shoulders above the main series of Warriors games. I for one and happy with this game and with Attack on Titan coming soon I look forward to even more great Warriors action from Tecmo Koei. Expand

Do you like the Warriors series? Did you wish Bladestorm was better? This is what you've been looking for. Fun combat, decent story, flattering graphics and massive battles. Worth the impulse buy.

With less personality than a Dynasty Warriors game, totally forgettable story and sparse content, Arslan is only somewhat redeemed by its minor combat improvements. [Issue#268, p.76]

[Arslan is] not really that different from those that have come before it, but the focus on story leads to missions that feel more urgent and engaging.

The tactical depth is somewhat let down by an inconsistent technical quality. [Apr 2016, p.94]
