A wonderful narrative, well written and witty! I loved the choice based gameplay and creative drinks and environments! Well worth the playthrough!

Afterparty a really boring game. The dialog is not funny and conversation are very awkward. Often times confusing. What makes the dialog even worst is that the game is 5 to 6 hours long. 3 hours of this game enough.

The characters - I hate them. Lola has no personality other than "Stereotypical independent black woman". Milo is dull. He tries to be funny but it fails every time. I

Gameplay - A lot like Oxenfree its just walking around. 2 mini games but honestly they ain't great. The game has serious bugs. I got a bug that occur during the end of the game that made beating it impossible. As well as the FPS going to zero crashing my game, even corrupting the file. As well has bug making my screen black. No replay value because all the endings suck. Btw no NG+

Sound - Music is okay. The voice acting is not. Lola poorly dubbed same with Milo.

This game fails at everything it tries to do. Even moral values tried forcing you to understand fail flat.
    Don't buy list.

It got an interesting premise, but it got a little boring by the end, After the genious Oxenfree this one was a bit of a letdown

I played this after having waited years. I am a huge Oxenfree can, and thought this would be as good, but I'm slightly disappointed. The soundtrack is okay. I was expecting the same caliber as Oxenfree, but nope. This game is still really buggy on PS4. It suffers from frame rate drops, when after a patch. The dialogue is okay. Overall it's decent, but it's not Oxenfree.

So in the grand tradition of only extreme judgement in this red & green world i'm going to be the knight of the tipping order, so as to bring this score to balance.

This game is a continuation of the traditions set by the studio with their amazing Oxenfree adventure game. Notice the genre - both are essentially adventure games sans unbearable perverted puzzles - all of your decisions

This game is a continuation of the traditions set by the studio with their amazing Oxenfree adventure game. Notice the genre - both are essentially adventure games sans unbearable perverted puzzles - all of your decisions lead you somewhere (like all good adventure games should), but contrary to some of the "opinions" here - your decisions DO matter and change the story, although not as much as some would prefer. But you can't see everything the game has to offer in one playthrough, as some of your decisions block other paths (think more quantic dream & telltale).

The story is amazing both in style AND substance, but it is very high-brow and metamodern, brimming with weird puns, existential half-jokes and some serious tone roller coasters. If you understand what i've just blabbered about - you'd love the game, but i can certainly see how it's not everyone's cup of cocktail. Oxenfree was straightforward (yet still on par with Afterparty), but it was something most could relate to. Going through a literal hell pondering Sartre-like question about your own identity and relation to others. It requires you being at least a hipster to try to pass off as enjoying the ride. I still feel a sour aftertaste having to reflect on the game, but that's also why i like it. It's as deep as the setting we play in. Both writing and delivery really sell the extensional motifs.

The art is good, but that's apparent from the trailer. Mini games or okay, but they fit really well into the story, so don't be too harsh on them. Yeah, they are simple and waste time, but they are unapologetically framed as such, so i can't fault the tiny studio for that. Music is great. I don't think it jived with me at first, but the more i play (and the more i listen to it), i can see how subtly it plays on the emotional strings of your soul under several layers of hip hip hop.

So if you like to spend you sundays shivering with dread under the sweat-soaked blanket and you are that wallflower who preferred to look at others dance at the disco, while panicking about the choices you've made in your life - Afterparty is for you. Well.. only if you got through it though, if you still battle with anxiety be a tad more careful, as this thing here gets you in da feels.

Technically though, my ps4 struggled somewhat and loading times are pretty long.

While it isn't as smooth and engaging as Oxenfree, Afterparty is a great game and one I thoroughly enjoy despite the technical hiccups. All the voice acting and humour is solid and perfectly delivered, no line felt badly delivered and constantly made me laugh out loud and in general I've probably laughed the hardest I've laughed at a game since Undertale. The "gameplay" is pretty simple but there's more variety than Oxenfree and every minigame the game throws at you is fun. The only legitimate complaint I have is the performance which I can only assume is the level of detail on display compared to the flat level design of Oxenfree. All in all, an excellent game and I can't wait to see what Nightschool make next. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game with a huge focus on story, characters, and world-building. I don't remember the last time when the story absorbed me so much. Yes, there are a few bugs here are there, but nothing game-breaking. Usually minor visual glitches. Expand

Considering there’s the touch of an interesting puzzle here and there, we’d have loved something a little stronger than the tasty but weak cocktail we got. [Issue#170, p.86]

Afterparty is a unique look at the people we are, the people we wish to be, and how the world, its occupants, and even ourselves can frequently f.ck with both. While as a video game it offers mostly persistent conversation, that conversation is excellently performed and smartly written. Despite undeniable narrative and technical shortcomings, Afterparty is still a shindig worth turning up to, even if the invite seemed a little more promising.

Some weird technical mishaps aside, Afterparty is a helluva ride. Night School Studio’s depiction of Hell is wonderfully inventive, quirky, and surprisingly enticing. While it’s certainly up for debate whether it dethrones Oxenfree, Afterparty is a quality followup that will bring a smile to your face. The story is solid with great relatable characters but the constantly hilarious script and dialogue make Afterparty worth sticking with until the very end, even after everybody’s gone home.
