Nice Graphics, but the Rest is only a Joke. I dont see any good reason to compare this Game with hollow knight. In absolutely every part it is such a really really bad downfall. I love metroidvanias so much. But this here is probably as bad as "souldiers". The biggest dissappointment to me in 2022. Don't even wait for Sale... Just skip it.

Aeterna noctis is a brilliant metroidvania if you are up for a challenge. Amazing art, music, story, platforming. 10/10

Exactly what you would want from a metroidvania. Superb game. Couldn't recommend it more

Plain and simple, it's my opinion this game is too difficult to be enjoyable for most, and it's the reason it earns a mediocre score. I was impressed by Aeterna Noctis out the gate, but the more I played it, the less I enjoyed it. I was impressed by Aeterna Noctis out the gate, but the more I played it, the less I enjoyed it. I'm sure there's plenty of better gamers who disagree, but I've been playing metroidvania games for most of my life, and the difficulty of Aeterna Noctis sapped the fun out of it for me. It definitely has the classic addictive trappings of other games in this genre. Gems and hit points similar to Hollow Knight, a skill tree, multiple vendors and side quests, great art and music, and plenty to explore/collect. However, the frustration level of some of the harder loot puzzles got me to the point that I didn't really care if I got everything in this game. I ended up giving up on collecting things that were too hard to get to and weren't directly related to story progression because they crossed the line from challenging to simply a waste of time. The bosses were pretty neat to discover, but fighting them typically came down to banging my head against the wall and losing repeatedly until I learned all their moves and got that perfect, spiteful run. Look forward to plenty of cheap injections of difficulty including far too many adds and ceaseless barrages of bullets. More than anything else, I was just relieved I didn't have to keep fighting the boss anymore once I beat it, and the rewards after became less and less validating. Unfortunately, the unnecessary level of difficulty keeps this otherwise promising game from being much fun. Expand

Aeterna Noctis is a metroidvania as beautiful as it is challenging, which captivates with it visual and it gameplay; and with a solid argument that motivates us to continue exploring every corner of your map.

Aeterna Noctis is a good - but far from perfect - metroidvania: some choices and general ideas could work better, but the game is somehow more than the sum of its parts.
