Aug 24, 2018Great game - cool to see my culture represented in a video game, felt like a distinct world to explore and I liked the story.

May 15, 2019As a whole, 1979 Revolution: Black Friday is a quick and blunt showing of an important piece of history that's made to be accessible to our generation. As a game, the gameplay is straightforward but sometimes clunky, the visuals are lackluster but portray what they must, and the music bolsters the game's chilling tone and narrative. There are some bugs in the visuals and longer load times, but they're minor hiccups when taking into account the game's loftier goal of sharing this important piece of history with people who are largely unaware of it.

Aug 27, 2018iNK Stories’ effort to create both an enthralling story and a factual window into history is admirable, and while it doesn’t quite stick the landing, it’s still an interesting game with plenty of historical information to paw through after you’ve completed it. The price tag is a bit too steep for a three-hour game, but history buffs and Telltale fans alike should see value in 1979 Revolution: Black Friday.

Playstation Official Magazine UKAug 23, 2018To make a game based on real events can be difficult, but thanks to the nuanced writing it becomes clear that in such a conflict, there is no black and white. It’s an earnest attempt at tackling real events, teaching you about a foreign culture in the process. [Issue#153, p.86]
