    this game is going to be remember as a good classic whit amazing narrative, while tlos2 will be rebember by some as the most diviseve fanbase caused by a poor narrative written by neil druckman.
    the remake is an obvious atempt at fiting his poor narrative while meking more chash grabe (in my opinion), this game dosen't need a remake is just fine the way it is.

    This game opened a new door for the gaming industry and showed even people outside the community that games can be just as, or even stronger experiences than top level TV entertainment. At release, and to this day one of the best storytelling, music and scenery of all time.

In 2016 I bought this game because it was on sale not knowing anything about it, and I can say it was the best choice I've ever made related to games, at the time I played a lot of games but most of them were multiplayer or online so I didn't have any experience with story games and this was the best way to start the game is perfect, the story is the best of all the games I've played you create a connection with the characters and as the story goes it only grows stronger, seeing the journey of this 2 characters going through hell to try to save humanity just to turn around and save the one person you really feel attached to, gameplay-wise is a big upgrade from uncharted and it deserves all the awards it got, it will forever be my favorite game.… Expand

    The Last of Us is an extremely derivative product, narratively speaking, as it reuses horror concepts already seen in thousands of other stories, but the plot still manages to be one of the most compelling ever told in a videogame thanks to its greatly nuanced characters and their deeply believable interactions, enhanced by amazing performances of the voice actors. It is a tender but raw depiction of humanity, with a finale that twists the themes on their head with a thought-provoking moral dilemma. Even in gameplay, the game uses concepts and mechanics already seen in other games, but by carefully merging them into a cohesive balance, it creates something extremely engaging and addicting. The game will put you up against hostile humans or various zombie-like creatures, which are groups that require extremely different approaches from each other. Regrettably, the game's greatest failure is precisely the AI of human enemies: they are often painfully dumb and too easy to fool. This makes their encounter much less thrilling than the ones against the zombie-like beings, much more challenging and engaging thanks to their animalistic, unpredictable routines. Nonetheless, by smartly cycling through these two enemy types the game keeps the flow of gameplay excellently variegated, also thanks to an amazing level design with areas often multilayered and always dense of possible routes for both the player and the enemy, granting the player a huge amount of strategic freedom. To fight these enemies we have a pretty small set of weapons, but on top of that we can utilize a series of various tools, traps and explosives. To craft these, the player will need to find the required materials in the environment. The hunt for materials, although pretty tedious after a while, adds a new explorative layer to the game as it makes environments an integral part of the experience. Its also used to enhance immersion, as the story can place dialogue while the player is scavenging for materials. The other thing that the game uses to add flavor between enemy encounters are environmental puzzles, which are extremely simplistic and excruciatingly repetitive, feeling more like padding.    … Expand

    Quite slow through first half, somwhat repetitive. That would be my only criticism. The rest is pretty amazing. Love the way the story is told through gameplay (mostly). Quite pure in comparison with Part II.

    I loved Last of Us 1, but Last of Us 2 was very interesting to play and not in a positive way. I was seriously enjoying the story about Joel's death and Ellie trying to avenge his death, and Ellie's romance on the side. It could have been one of the best games ever.
    Unfortunately, towards the end, I was forced to play as Abby. I really liked Joel as a character, and when Abby killed him,    I loved Last of Us 1, but Last of Us 2 was very interesting to play and not in a positive way. I was seriously enjoying the story about Joel's death and Ellie trying to avenge his death, and Ellie's romance on the side. It could have been one of the best games ever.
    Unfortunately, towards the end, I was forced to play as Abby. I really liked Joel as a character, and when Abby killed him, I, of course, developed a serious dislike for Abby. Furthermore, Abby is just a pissed-off, unlikable character in general. Thus, I really didn't want to play as Abby and found myself just letting zombies kill me because I wanted to return to playing as Ellie, and it was more enjoyable to watch her die than to try to help her survive.
    I tried to play it out as Abby, hoping it would return to Ellie at any moment, but hours went by, and it still made me play as Abby until eventually I just said, "Screw it. I'm not enjoying this game at all, and I stopped playing altogether. I've played almost every rpg there is, and there is only one other game I have stopped playing halfway through. Thus, Last of Us 2 is one of the only games I rate as a 0 out of 10 since it was so unenjoyable that I didn't even finish it. The lesson here is NEVER FORCE THE PLAYER TO PLAY AS AN UNLIKABLE ANTAGONSIST, PLEASE.
    After, being so disappointed with Part 2, I don't recommend either of these games.    … Expand

    It's not a groundbreaking story. We all have read or watched some similar plots somewhere before. But it's really well told. You can't help feeling for these characters. I could replay again and again just to experience the feels and emotions, though the battle mechanics are only acceptable not great.

The fact that each level and ultimately the entire game is essentially a straight line, however, is not necessary, but lazy. This is a combat focused game. The entire gameplay revolves around combat. There is nothing else. There is no exploration, there    Naughty Dog's game design is outdated by about 10 years.

    This is a story driven game, so it makes sense that its somewhat linear. The fact that each level and ultimately the entire game is essentially a straight line, however, is not necessary, but lazy.

    This is a combat focused game. The entire gameplay revolves around combat. There is nothing else. There is no exploration, there are no NPCs to talk to or choices to make, there is no platforming, there is no leveling system or anything like that. There's just combat (and some boring scavenging, how fun). So the combat should better be really good. But... its just mediocre.

    As for the story, I guess gamers who have never read a book in their life consider this some masterpiece of storytelling. In reality, the story is solid, nothing more. It is certainly no planescape torment.    … Expand

    Great game with amazing graphics, story, and voice acting. The controls are sluggish and the framerate inconsistent, which does result in some frustrating aiming mechanics (especially when enemies get close), but I will forgive those issues as everything else is perfect and it is really the PS3 holding back performance and not any issue with the game itself.

    The Last Of Us is basically an interactive movie that plays like Resident Evil done in the style of Uncharted with a dash of Ico/Enslaved in that you have to escort a defenceless partner through hostile territory. Add some RPG elements in how you can search the environment for resources to upgrade your equipment and you have a nicely cinematic experience with enough depth to keep adventureThe Last Of Us is basically an interactive movie that plays like Resident Evil done in the style of Uncharted with a dash of Ico/Enslaved in that you have to escort a defenceless partner through hostile territory. Add some RPG elements in how you can search the environment for resources to upgrade your equipment and you have a nicely cinematic experience with enough depth to keep adventure junkies happy. Perhaps a little too-stealth based for my tastes but a top-notch title nonetheless.… Expand

    the game is perfect in my opinion. i love Ellie. Joel is cool. i love it i love it i love it i love it. i have played this game so much i love it that much. i love it. it is my favorite game of all time. i love it so much i don't even know how to describe it.

    Obviously the story is the main course here, nobody would ever tell you otherwise, but sadly for a near ten year old game, the gameplay feels clunky, you really just go from place to place taking cover and shooting enemies, as a enjoyer of TLOU2 I much prefer the gameplay in that even though the story was not up to the standards for some people.

    It absolutely deserves all the praise it gets, with it's fantastically written, real feeling story that will stick with you for a long time. The gameplay really makes you think about how to use your resources in a way where every bullet counts, and this is probably the most immersive part of it for me. A story about survival set in a world where surviving isn't easy.

    Hand down one of the best games I've ever played. Replayed it several times just because the story was so good. The game mechanics probably not as good as the Uncharted games, but still incredible either way.

    I gave it a 3 due to the props, but the plot is embarrassing, the acting is, with few exceptions mediocre/ hard to see how it got such great ratings. ON episode 3,,, 20 yrs and only Bill and Frank aged? Give me a break !!

    Esse jogo me prendeu por anos, joguei muito na infância principalmente o modo multiplayer, no geral a história é muito boa, a gameplay é excelente e os gráficos são muito bons, o pecado foi no modo multiplayer que é desbalanceado e pay to win, mesmo assim eu gosto por nostalgia.

    An absolute masterpiece. Naughty Dog are the best at telling a story. It's one of the few games I've actually been able to TRULY connect with the characters. I felt upset at points and pumped up at others. It's truly breathtaking. I played it back to back to back just because I loved it that much. The crafting mechanic is spectacular, the map design is perfect and the dialogue can't beAn absolute masterpiece. Naughty Dog are the best at telling a story.     The Last of Us is a great action-adventure game that manages to capture the feeling of post-apocalypse and survival. The story is alright but way too manipulative and borrows heavily from other, better, material. Still the segmented survival gameplay and the amazing audiovisual production makes the game an experience everybody should check out.

    Despite the breakneck pace of the prologue, it takes quite a while for The Last of Us to pick up some speed again. However, once the cold harsh winter arrives, the action (and story) ramps up. So much so, it puts most Hollywood productions to shame. [July 2013, p.76]
