Die Interaktion der Hauptcharaktere, deren wachsende Beziehung, wirkt so natürlich und lebensnah, dass man regelrecht hineingesogen wird in die Geschichte, die das Abenteuer um Joel und Ellie aufspannt. Natürlich trägt auch die kinoreife Inszenierung hierzu bei, die nahezu nahtlos zwischen Gameplay und Cut Szenes überblendet. Zudem ist der Plot extrem gut erzählt, bietet dramatische Höhepunkte und Wendungen, die einen wirklich berühren und teils gar schockieren können. Mit dazu bei tragen auch die vielen authentisch geschriebenen NPCs, die uns auf unserer Reise immer wieder episodenhaft begegnen. Das Gameplay zwischen Stealth und Deckungsshooter ist zudem erfreulich unaufgeregt gestaltet, lebt von der Spannung und gibt Luft zum überlegten Vorgehen. Alle Mechaniken sind einfach, aber gut umgesetzt. Gerade das "on the fly" Craften von Gegenständen bringt Spannung ins Spiel und macht Kämpfe kurzweilig und taktisch zugleich. The Last of Us macht einfach alles richtig, und kann dazu bewegen, wie kaum an anderes Spiel seiner Generation. Warum viele Worte verlieren.     Playing this in 2022, I just did not get what the fuss is about. Sure it is outdated by now, but the gameplay is repetitive as hell, and that's not something to do with technology or graphics. See Mario Galaxy from 2007 - fascinating gameplay that keeps changing gimmicks every 5 minutes. The Last of Us not only has boring gameplay, but it is very cyclical too. And is this really the sortPlaying this in 2022, I just did not get what the fuss is about.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was a good game don't get me wrong but I really don't understand the GOTY hype. I freaking love Naughty Dog. The Uncharted series is one of my most favourite series of all time but this? I found Joel to be very unlikeable, an absolute asshat. And because he was such an asshat it was really hard to enjoy the story. Ellie was the saving grace for me. Controls were clunky and gun play frustrating. I did think the areas you travelled through were quite nice, but not as nice as some other places Naughty Dog has taken me to. Maybe I was expecting something mind-blowing because of the hype or I played this too late after it had been released. Either way, good but not great. I'll still be giving TLOU2 a go which I might actually enjoy more knowing Joel doesn't play such a significant part.… Expand

    Naughty Dog, have outdone themselves with "The Last of Us". Keep in mind I still haven't played "Bioshock Infinite" (Yet), but "The Last of Us" represents the best so far of 2013 and the first game that delivers a level of immersion, emotion and game play we haven't had for quite a long time.

    The plot involves a breakout of spores from the nonfictional fungi "Cordyceps", that in this story have mutated to be able to infect humans. Cut to 20 years later, nature has taken back a lot of the cities and landscapes of America you'll traverse as Joel, a man now in his 40's-50's who's lost large parts of his life to this epidemic. Joel's mission is to escort young teenage girl Ellie, across these wastelands in a tale that spans all four seasons. Unfortunately this also means coming across a lot of desperate people, who are willing to do almost anything in means of survival.

    That's as much as I'm willing to say without spoiling the ever expanding story, and much deeper sense of urgency. The areas in the game are superbly creepy and upsetting. Many times you'll find yourself triggering inappropriate conversations with Ellie, that do wonders in immersing you and building up personalities, therefore investing you further in how the situation will pan out for these characters.

    The Music by Gustavo Santaolalla is superb, and deeply planted into my mind as one of the best I have ever heard while playing a new game (It always shows up at the right time, just to pull you in that little deeper). But getting into the game play aspects, do you finally realise how deep Naughty Dogs efforts were. Improvisation is absolutely essential to survival, as you collect and build all these important tools to help see you through. Depending on your level of skill at the game you'll always find yourself wanting more health or ammo, regardless how much or how little you have. It goes from part drama, part adventure to even survival horror seamlessly, never becoming too overwhelming that you'll find the situation boring.

    My final thoughts on this game go to the terrific performances from Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, for captivating us so well throughout this story. Motion capture is starting to really help blur the lines between movies and games now. Sooner or later I believe that stories like "The Last Of Us", will help define how we will view both mediums in terms of the word "Art", and dare I say "Expression".

    Final Verdict: I consider myself an avid gamer (I even went out and bought a PS3, mostly just to play this game). I loved "Crash Bandicoot" as a kid, and "Uncharted" held me over during the 2000's. Naughty Dog, "The Last of Us" is your masterpiece, to anyone yet to experience it I urge you to take it on as soon as. 9/10.    … Expand

Even on easy mode, it gets a little bit of a tension and desperating moments. For the hardcored players, survivor and punish mode will have your desire fulfilled.     A good game that have some interesting survivors mechanics with knives, bricks, crafts, the aim been not that good, etc. But the game is kind overrated in the subject of the story, the bound between Joel and Ellie is amazing, but that's it... the rest is a common survivor zombie story and game. That said the winter part is awesome and the pittsburgh one is terrible.

    To compare with The Last of Us Part 2 is kind of boring, for me is Part 2 the best game I've ever played, but this first part is not that good as is the user rating score, and I don't know why people hate second part, and this part likes, its boooooring :(

Lo tiene todo una historia conmovedora, una narración buenísima, personajes carismáticos y MUY profundos con una historia detrás, una inmersión logradísima te sientes realmente como un personaje más del videojuego, los gráficos espectaculares lo jugué hace os pero aún me siguen sorprendiendo, buena jugabilidad tal vez el movimiento un poco lento pero eso lo hace másEs el juego perfecto.     The visuals of this game are what most realistic could be asked from a PS3. I'm sure that even a high-end computer from the same release date (2007) of the PS3 would have serious trouble running this game.
    The soundtrack is well thought. It fits perfectly the mood of the game, being calm and relaxed with only the minimal instrument required is what makes it great.
    The gameplay is fun to play while maintaining tense and creepy moments during encounters with the infected, but it's wise at alternating those moments to more relaxed ones, not to make the player feel too suffocated and let him guard down while hitting back without prior notice.
    The only parts that are a little weak are the puzzles, usually slow and tedious. Another problem is Ellie moves like there is no one around in stealth zones, often going face to face with an enemy that won't attack her due to scripting.
    The story narrates of a father, Joel, who lost his child back when the pandemic struck, and now has to survive, bringing Ellie, a girl immune to the infection to a hospital to find a cure to save the world. The bonds that create during this journey shape the characters of the game are perfectly made. The acting of the main characters it's movie-like.
    When you reach for the finale the story keeps hitting you and Joel with tense and element of surprise, that you become one with the character of Joel and it transmits you all those emotions that Joel has in you, like there is some kind of connection between you and him that is like the 4th wall has been broken.
    The Last of Us possibly tell one of the greatest story ever narrated on a videogame, and it does it so well that you feel a deep connection to the characters that no other game has.

The real focus of The Last of Us' story is not itsOn paper, the story of The Last of Us sounds like it's just another zombie-apocalypse story about saving humanity in a dark, depressing and grim enviroment depicting how selfish humans are "the real monsters". And honestly, it is: the derivative nature of this story is blatant and undeniable. But it's also so much more than that. The real focus of The Last of Us' story is not its enviroment and plot, but its characters. The characters and their dialogues in this game are so well-written, so deep and grounded that they all feel like real people, and therefore the entire drama of their situation in this crumbling world hits the player way harder. There is no stereotypical good and evil in this story: there are only humans going by their survival instinct, trying their best to survive in this hell, even if it means doing the selfish choice. You don't play to see where the story goes, but to see how the characters will develop, how they will change each other, for better or worse, all the way to the ending, a thought-provoking moral dilemma about love and sacrifice, that will forever stay in the player's mind. If the ending is so impactful and memorable it's only thanks to these impeccable characters and the believable emotional journey they went through. The story is, without a doubt, the main reason to play The Last of Us. But what about the gameplay?
    Truth is, The Last of Us is also a pretty darn good game, for the most part.
    First and foremost, the game decides to convey the harsh, grim costant survival struggle of the characters in this story by making it an actual component of the gameplay, which is the gathering of resources scattered through the level, to create tools and weapons necessary to comfortably and more efficiently get through subsequent levels. The base concept is really fun and immersive, but in practice it can easily become quite tedious to just spam the triangle button on everything to scavenge mindlessly, especially on subsequent playthtroughs. Still, even so, the thrill of having few ammunitions, and therefore feeling the tension of potentially missing a shot and wasting a valuable bullet, or having to decide whether to craft one medikit or one molotov bomb with your lmited resources adds an exciting layer of strategic planning and improv to the action, greatly enhancing the personal satisfaction after winning battles.
    Speaking of battles, there are two kinds of enemies you'll be facing in the game: humans and infected. And infected come in three varieties, each with their own characteristics and weak points, to be extremely mindful of. Usually encounters with humans and infected are cycled through, creating a nice sense of variety, because as soon as you'll be bored with humans you will most likely stumble upon infected, and vice-versa. The areas in which you'll be fighting these opponents are also extremely variegated, offering countless options to either wreak havoc or approach stealthly, causing distractions, laying traps or flanking the enemy.
    The only downside is that, between infected and humans, infected are almost always the most fun to fight, since not only they're more dangerous and unpredictable, thus offering more of a challenge (the game is way too easy on difficulties lower than Survivor), but the humans' artificial intelligence is often extremely idiotic, which offers some good laughs early on, but just ruins the atmosphere and challenge later on.
    Speaking of ruining the atmosphere: as we've seen, The Last of Us is a story-driven experience, and therefore the story sometimes needs to reach a certain situation, even if the player isn't aware of it yet. Without spoiling anything, this can cause a few awkward situations where the player could realistically do a thing, but said thing simply doesn't work, even if it logistically doesn't make sense, because the player needs to approach the problem in a specific way for the story to advance further.
    Lastly: to offer variety and a change of pace, the game will often present you some "puzzles", to traverse the enviroment or overcome some sort of obstacle. These are great for immersion, but are so incredibly repetitive and tedious that they becomejust a chore to go through. Or, in other words: The Last of Us is firstly an incredible story, because even if the plot itself is for the most part extremely predictable and incredibly derivative, the characters are so exceptionally written and believable that they are more than enough to keep you engaged with their emotional journey. As a game it's just as great: with extremely solid gunplay, great enemy variety and everchanging level design there is lots of fun to be had in many different scenarios, and yet the game can't achieve its greatest potential due to pretty repetitive puzzles, a few awkward scenarios where story and gameplay collide and, generally speaking, a little too easy (mostly due to the often stupid AI and the Over-Powered Listen Mode).    … Expand

    I wouldn't call this game perfect, but it's pretty close for me. I wanted to rate this a 9.8. Since I cannot, I will give it a 10 because it is closer to a 10 than a 9. There IS the occasional glitch (as with most games), but the only thing that really takes me out of the experience is when Ellie will run out in front of the enemies and they will not see her at all!     What to say about one of the best games ever made. Coming in at the end of the ps3s life, the graphics are/were gorgeous. The gameplay although a little tanky still manages to feel grounded and real and the story is one of the most well written, emotional pieces that you'll play through.

    This game is going to stick with me forever. One of the best stories in gaming and the narrative structure is impeccable. Characters are brilliantly written and well-developed. The atmosphere is insanely good and the music is legendary. Gameplay is satisfying even though the core gameplay loop remains simple. Hands down it's my favorite game of all time.

    It plays like a stealth focused Uncharted and as expected, shooting mechanics are not the best. Melee, on the other hand, feels great and is the most enjoyable part of the combat. Overall, I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the gameplay despite the poor shooting. To avoid spoilers, I won’t write a detailed review but I strongly recommend playing the Last of Us if you consider video games as your hobby.

    Multiplayer is actually not as bad as you might expect, but it is crippled with pay2win microtransactions.

Only just played this and was astounded at the graphics on PS3 to this day they still look so good and so pretty. Gonna have to play the remastered one now and the sequel. The story is alright but way too manipulative and borrows heavily from other, better, material.
