    I'm only about 3 hours into the campaign right now, but so far, all I can say is that this is the most fun I've ever had with an FPS. It all comes down to one thing: The Guns. These guns are so much fun to play with, and as you upgrade them they just keep getting better. The enemies are balanced (on normal difficulty) and it's just a blast to keep playing with the guns. They never get oldI'm only about 3 hours into the campaign right now, but so far, all I can say is that this is the most fun I've ever had with an FPS. It all comes down to one thing: The Guns. These guns are so much fun to play with, and as you upgrade them they just keep getting better. The enemies are balanced (on normal difficulty) and it's just a blast to keep playing with the guns. They never get old either, because you are constantly being introduced to new guns, and your old ones get upgraded as you use them. The graphics are "different" but not bad, kinda artsy in a way. The environments are pretty cool, and the levels are well designed. The story is also quite compelling. This is definitely the best of the series, and like I said before, this is my new favorite FPS. Bottom line: BUY THIS GAME.

    Update: I am much farther in the campaign now, and it's still pretty good. Another bonus is that the campaign is quite long, longer than I expected. The plot has gotten even better and I feel real attachment to the characters and their situation. It's really quite good,    … Expand

    Just finished the campaign mode after my midnight pickup from Gamestop. To fans of the series, you will be very happy about what Insomniac has done to the game. It does feel a bit more arcadey as far the feel of the guns but I feel like it is definitely for the better. The upgrade system is fantastic and is a great addition. I am going to play through again in co-op and finish upgrading my weapons and I haven't touched the multiplayer yet on the retail copy. Everything I experienced from the beta from the last month leads me to believe I am going to spend quite a bit of time with multiplayer from here on out. The multiplayer in my opinion is just as polished as COD, Halo & Battlefield but you are just dealing with a more basic concept in R3 and not as intricate. The single player competes with any of those games as well and is very immersive so I would suggest this game to newcomers to the series as well.     Resistance 3 something truly rare, a unique and very expressive first person shooter.
    The narrative is deeper, darker and more personal than "Resistance 2" and "Fall of Man", the protagonist is also more expressive than Nathan Hale and the tone and atmosphere are more serious, mature, melancholic and desperate. But the combat against arms of enemies and bosses still feels epic and intense    Resistance 3 something truly rare, a unique and very expressive first person shooter.
    The narrative is deeper, darker and more personal than "Resistance 2" and "Fall of Man", the protagonist is also more expressive than Nathan Hale and the tone and atmosphere are more serious, mature, melancholic and desperate. But the combat against arms of enemies and bosses still feels epic and intense with a very welcome old school feeling, especially now with the returning of "health packs".

    The variety and originality of the weapons, a well known trace of the series, is back and improved. Enemy AI is very impressive and atmosphere, one of this title strong points, is truly remarkable. The combination of the stylized, expressive, melancholic and gritty art-style with interesting, emotional and dark music produce a very immersive gaming experience.

    The only negative aspects of this game are the initial installation and patching, but these two points are not direct related to the great and unique gaming experience this game offer.

    Resistance 3 and Dark Souls are, in my opinion, the best games of 2011.    … Expand

    I don't care what anyone says. This is the best Resistance so far. The online is not a cluster **** like the previous games and they took out over powered weapons like the Wraith from R2. I'll admit, I do miss the co-op, but I still Love this game.

    wonderful game and the best in the series def a triple a title and one of the best shooter ive ever played has a great and heartfelt story the graphics are great the gunplay is wonderful and the guns are a blast online is awesome to jus a bit laggy but still def playable and a go to ps3 online game def a must buy if u own a ps3

All the interesting gameplay details from the first game are back, the intensity of Resistance 2 is also present, gameplay and pacing evolved drastically and visuals improved artistically.     This is the best Resistance of the three yet for some reason it has the lowest meta-score. And then we have the haters ruining the user score of a really great game scoring it with 0 and 3 and hiding behind silly little arguments and let's not even talk about the fanboys, the main disease of this industry plagued by immature little kids.

    Fanboys are raging about the game not doing anything outside the box but what about the weapon wheel and health system? Resistance 3 is probably the only FPS of this generation where you can carry more than 3 guns and it doesn't has the auto-regeneration health that Halo made so popular back in the day. The truth is that Resistance 3 packs a great story even thought the ending was a disappointment. The gameplay is oldchool (I bet most of you started playing the genre with Halo so I don't think you'll know what I mean by "oldschool") but feels new and it's responsive. Graphics are pretty good but the animations are a bit stiff. The multiplayer is no Call of Duty but can be enjoyable for quite a while.

    Fantastic game. Easily the best in the series and the most under-rated game of 2011 in my opinion. The single player may not be suited to brainless 'hoorah!' COD boys, but it's a great thinking man's shooter with a strong story, great survival elements and characters you can actually care about. The online is now working virtually perfectly and the co-op is a blast too. Highly recommended.

    Resistance 1 & 2 are none-existent. It's all about Resistance 3! This game is totally wonderful. I was NOT a fan of the first two games because there was something missing that I cannot understand. But this third installment is just a gorgeous visual cinematic experience. Plus if you play this on 3D... WOW! It is just breathtaking. Pick this game up. If you do not you will be missing oneResistance 1 & 2 are none-existent. It's all about Resistance 3! Comparing with most shooters, it does not have regenerating health, you can carry a LOT of weapons and behind the grim atmostphere and story, there is a bit of silliness whenever fighting chimera. From my playthrough, on how the game tells the story seriously, it feels like a B movie of some sort. Moving on to the gameplay, it's like a throw back to Serious Sam and Doom with crazy weapons at your disposal and over the top gun fights with monsters and It has been a while since I had fun with a shooter.     Resistance 3 is one of the finest shooters I have ever played, after experiencing resistance 2, which was one of my biggest let downs of a game ever due to its shoddy graphics. I was reluctant to to buy resistance 3, however what a transformation this is. The story is fantastic, and very gripping, giving you the feel of hopelessness, despair as you fight for even a stutter of freedom. The graphics are also much improved, and environments are finely detailed, and atmospheric, accompanied by the music giving a great overall cinematic feel.

    The gameplay is sweet also, as you advance through the game, a great arsenal of weapons become available, that you can level up, the more you use them, the more powerfull they become. Theirs some great moments here, nothing that hasn't been done before, but it's all done so well, with great attention. If you have any doubts that I had when I bought this then you should bite the bullet and give it a go, you won't be disappointed.    … Expand

    While it's not a perfect game, it's the most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time! That deserves a 10! Lots and lots of ememies, tons of action, varied environments, a storyline that moves things along, etc. Go get it!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to admit im a fan of the series, loved the first 1. 2nd one was okay, but this was Great!!!. They nailed it on the spot with this one. Im glad the Weapon Wheel was brought back. even though the game was kinda short i still got a good experience from it. also at the After Capelli closed the wormhole from stopping the world from freezing and from keeping the Pure Chimera form entering through the wormhole. After capelli closed it there were still many chimera left on the planet. The chimera were dealt a blow but was not beaten. this leads speculation to a resistance 4 maybe?? but overall all great game.… Expand

    A great game. Nothing less to expect from the guys at Insomniac , but this Resistance 3 has much more to offer than the previous two games. First off, the famous weapon wheel is back and better. The new weapons in this game offers much more strategy than the previous two games where it was run and gun most of the time. I'd have to say based on my own experience this game is not as boringA great game. Overall, this game is worth your money and time, offers a brilliant and well crafted story along with all those exciting quirks and what not that will make you game out of your mind. Resistance 3 has a great and lengthy single player campaign, its very fun to play thru and even play through more than once.. add in you can co-op play the game locally or online and its really well done IMO. Flaming shotguns, laser guns that lock on and bend around corners, and kill streaks that dont totally unbalance the game and have great weapons like the Augur to use for a few seconds.

    Overall I think this is the FPS of the year on the PS3 and probably on all consoles.    … Expand

    Amazing game, amazing ambiance, decent 3D, great Move controls, and gameplay that follows and improves upon the essence of the first Resistance game. The game is not one to miss, anyone who argues is highly bias.

    Like its predecessors, R3 paints an absorbing and beautifully horrific world.

    I admit to being disappointed in the online component, after R2's delightful 8x coop and chaotic pvp. Not every game should be MAG with its 128v128, but R2 hit a good note in its medium-large matches.

    Now when is an FPS going to offer matchmaking with a serious effort at match balance?

Graphics are pretty good, not the best but still very nice. 3D works very well and I fell it adds To the game, nothing like an agure bultet coming at you in 3D. Move works well, although I wish movement was a little faster when aimed down sight. They lack the option to adjust that bit, they could take a page fromI'm playing the game now, so far it's one of the best shooters this year. The Ratchet and Clank-type upgrade system to the weapon wheel is addictive and makes me love every gun in my arsenal. I played Resistance 2 and was not impressed. The control schemes simplicity is also very on-par, much easier to manage than Resistance 2. The multiplayer is also quite fun, there are a whole selection of the best game modes out there; the multiplayer is level progressive but it actually works out fine once you put some effort in. The existing issues are minor but are annoying. There are moments in multiplayer when the frame rate gets unstable, the graphics are also a bit dated. Graphics don't make a good game however. This will likely prove to be another must have for PS3, get this game.… Expand

    Amazing game is very frsh and new compared to the gerneric space marines shooting a gun and always win the day.

    This is one of best stories in gaming history and would be amazing as a movie,you never feel like your playing game,you just get lost in the amazing story n gameplay. This is GOTY

AI is a little stupid at times, and the multiplayer isn't great (compared to say BFBC2) but as a single player experience it is difficult to beat

I'd have to say though that the graphics are the pro/con of the game not sure why it feels like it but it does. The con would be the textures when your up close to them because they look blurry and just not all that pretty. That's my only gripe or this would've gotten a 10/10 score. The multiplayer is awesome as well and is more personal this time around rather then running and gunning with 63 other players and getting ambushed in a bottle neck. 16 player is perfect for this game and plays very well I did notice a little noticeable lag online, just a little. I'd advise you guys to pick up this game and join the resistance today.… Expand

    Awesome campaign and it actually feels like Resistance 3 other then resistance 2.5 like killzone 3 did. introducing co op on the campaign its really cool probably the best thing about it, weapon are awesome and full of action.

really? well im sorry but i question if you played this or half life. half life in its time was one of the best games and had a very compelling story w/ characters to match. this is resistance 3. and it did not bring the same , it brought new. and i welcomed and enjoyed it.game of the year? no.game worth playing and owning if you are a fan of resistance or a fan of having a good gaming exp, yes. with a ton of generic f.p.s its refreshing to play one which doesnt follow suit. if you look to compare then you will rate the game w/ another in mind. the way i rate, and so do others on here, is to place the game in console and press start with the thoughts of, i hope this is good..and then tell others what this game offered and lacked. half life is one of those games that dont come very often, and if one were to compare this with half life, base the review on such and then rate it poorly, then you are saying half life is a 3 thats when confusion sets in and the rating system is useless. everyone has an opinion, but it seems some also have an agenda. i say this from what i read and see, not by what i think. game is good, it is better than average and has nice visuals along w/ gameplay. 8.5-8.7. and if i were to compare this to games which were down right bad, then this would be a 10. but thats not how it works. simple, play the game and review it honestly and non-biased and if in fact you have good or bad opinions then present material which supports it, and base it on this game. if you are confused to the ratings then try/rent b4 you buy. now go ahead and spam that no button under my review.lol. been gaming forever. mgs4,halo,uncharted,c.o.d. waw,bbc2,mario cart,ultima online,half life,starcraft,diablo 2,max payne,crysis,dues ex,fable 2,kings quest,zelda ocarina,rsv2.few fav's… Expand

    Honestly to me this game has taken shooter of the year so far. Aside from the framerate drops in multiplayer( which insomniac says they will have taken care of inside a week) I can't see how I could enjoy a fps more. The single player campaign, co-op campaign, and multiplayer are all top notch. Get this game it does not disappoint. The weather and particle effects in this game are secondHonestly to me this game has taken shooter of the year so far.     They say the show must go on and in the Resistance world there are still questions to be answered, but the disappointing nature of this third instalment and its failure to deliver at retail most likely means this is the last release in the series. Perhaps such an end is the best option all round.

    Resistance 3 does plenty. It's beautiful, thrilling, and-quite unexpectedly-contains one of the most memorable campaigns this side of Halo and Half-Life. In a year full of Sony-branded disappointments, Insomniac has produced an absolute gem.

    As a conclusion to the franchise (no doubt pending an awkwardly justified fourth game and spin-offs), Resistance 3 manages to send it off as gracefully as possible.
