    Perhaps the greatest sandbox game of all time. It's unlike Grand Theft Auto, as there's still so much to do after getting 100% completion. The graphics are incredible, and the soundtrack is amazing, too. The storyline is involving, but there's so much to do in the huge open world game that it may seem to get in the way.

    A fantastic game, my choice for Game of the Year 2010.

Most notability the glitches which can be frustrating at times, also the multiplayer doesn't feel incredibly fun to play and competitive multiplayer can be quite boring. It certainly isn't for everyone, the first hour or so amounts to nothing more than cattle herding. But the rest of the game is very solid and although the pace never becomes 'intense', it does get quite brilliant towards the end. Finally, the world which the game is set is far more memorable and realistic than Liberty City of GTA IV. Unlike the crowded, drab world of GTA IV, (which was far from bad in itself), Red Dead manages a small collection of easily identifiable towns that have far more charm in them than Liberty City. Overall, It's not outright better than GTA IV, but certainly does Rockstar proud with a 'Game of the year' contender.… Expand

    Red Dead Redemption is a original thriller of Rockstar, is true ... His immersion, graphics effects, his soundtrack and epic love your way to practically all types of players.

    John Marston is a great character and justifies this in the wonderful storyline that the game provides. The missions are well balanced and many things are new at this game.     It's amazing how Rockstar managed to faithfully reproduce the old-with this primacy. It's really one of the greatest games of all time.

For starters the environment is stunning and you will have to ride from town to town with the risk of wild animals attacking you giving a realistic edge to the game. Next there is more to do besides just missions, you can help random people who come up to you for help, you and also hunt for wanted people for a small payment, you can gamble as well with the risk of loosing money or you can completed challenges to improve your fame and honour levels which has many improvements. More fame means more people want help from you which rewards you with money. More honour means bigger discounts at stores and more pay from jobs. One favourite of mine is that you can shoot out both legs of your enemy stopping them from moving then pull out your lasso and tie them up. Now last but not least dead eye, you slow down time to get a better lock on your enemy. Still there are many things to discover if you bye the game,… Expand

The graphics are good, gameplay is non-manatonous, random events occur, and you can kill any animal you see anywhere. Pretty unique game here.     Nowadays sanbox games are as common as never before and most of them don't do much do be diffrent or unique. The gta series is recycled and other sandbox franchises try to imitate it. Red dead, although from the same developer, is nothing like that and is in fact the best sandbox game I have ever played. The gameplay in RDR is varied and goes from the regular shooting/escorting missions to sidequests and mini games. The side quests, though usually not related to the main story, are very good and interesting. There are tons of mini games of all sorts( poker, horseshoe etc.) and they are fun. The game really gets incredible with the story mission. the story is a bit similar to that in gta 4 but more subtle. John Marston is a badass but is very human( unlike Niko). You really bond with the characters so you really want to know how everything turns out in the end. The game is incredible in the sound and graphics compartments as well. The graphics are probably the best in sandbox games history and the sound fits perfectly to the game. You really feel like you are in the wild west and exploring the huge map is great. There is also multiplayer, which I didn't really like but others do, if you are intrested in that. The game has quite a few glitches and sometimes they are annoying but they are far far from being a deal breaker. Overall the game is superb. It takes an overused genre and turns it unique back again. As a whole package this game is everything you could hope for in an action game: fun and unique gameplay, great story, good sound, incredible visuals and a ton of replay value.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For anyone out there that thinks this is just GTA with a western background, we'll maybe your'e partially right but don't let that deter you from enjoying the best game of 2010. We'll start with the graphics...
    The character models are finely detailed, down to the scars on Marston's face and when compared to Niko Bellics character in GTA 4 you can clearly see that Rockstar is continuing to push the power of these consoles. The landscapes are very detailed in some areas while other areas could use some more texturing and you'll still see some pop up as you did in previous Rockstar titles but due to the sheer scope of the game these are subtle complaints that never take you away from overall experience. There where times that I would ride my horse to the edge of a cliff just to look at the enviroment below, it's simply breathtaking knowing that you have the ability to go to any of these areas. Rockstar has done another amazing job crafting a world unlike any of their previous efforts. The land itself is a character full of animals to kill and skin as well as flowers and weeds to pick which of course you can turn around and sell to the local general stores. I followed and watched an NPC look around until he realized there was no one there before he could relieve himself, I also watched a husband take his own life after crying over his dead wife. It's all about the subtle touches that Rockstar uses to bring the world to life.
    The sound is well done throughout the game, whether it's the voice acting, the sound of your horses gallop or the sound of a cougar as it sneaks up behind you Rockstar has done another exceptional job. During one of the final missions, Marston is riding back to his family, there is a song that plays called "Far Away" written by Jose Gonzalez specifically for Red Dead Redemption. The scene itself will leave you in awe, it feels unlike anything i've ever felt playing a videogame. Rockstar went above and beyond and it is immediately noticeable.
    Controlling Marston is immediately accessible to anyone who has played GTA4. The controls are fairly easy to pick up and after a few missions you'll be lassoing horses and using Dead eye with ease. Dead Eye itself gets better throughout the game starting with the ability to slow time...Later on in the game Dead Eye evolves allowing Marston to not just slow down time but also target specific body parts during Showdowns. During gameplay the user will have the ability to use Dead Eye but is never subjected to having to use it. While, the user has no choice when it comes to Showdowns, I actually chose to play most of the game without it bumping up the difficulty. Riding horses is very accessible and never really caused frustration. You might complain that the horses are not fast enough at times due to the size of the world, but let's face it these are not cars. If you have played GTA in the past then you already know what to expect when it comes to a lot of the missions. The story missions are good with some decent voice acting as well as some memorable characters but when it comes to the side missions, this is where the game can get bogged down in repetition. There is some variety in these missions but not enough to keep you coming back to them. Rockstar did a good job of giving the user incentive to do these missions as the user is going to be given either Honor or Dishonor when completing or not completing them. The Honor/Dishonor system actually has some benefit to it, the more honorable Marston is the more praise he will get when going to different towns, Marston will also have access to specific items that are normally unaccessible without gaining the honor. While on the other hand if Marston is dishonorable he gets access to a separate branch of items and praise. Most of these side missions consist of getting back a stolen horse, to helping someone save his hanged wife etc. Marston can also find other things to do around the world such as skinning animals for profit. Skinning animals can be very addictive (at lease for me it was), and there's nothing like taking out 3 bears at once with Dead Eye. Certain animals are worth more in certain parts of the map adding some depth and reasoning to go back to specific stores to sell the skins. The only negative aspect that I found about the wild animals are that they can be pretty linear in how they react and what they are doing when seen. I would have loved to see some deer drinking out of the rivers or birds catching snakes, anything to make the world feel more alive. There are so many things to like about this game and there are so many things to dislike. I myself was blown away by the overall presentation of the title and can easily say that this is better than any of the previous GTA games...Being the first game in the franchise (not counting Red Dead Revolver) has me looking forward to bigger things...fishing anyone?    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The single player campaign was too short for my liking, but the missions in it were well designed and beautiful to play. That being said, I've spent hours just riding around the world, attacking stagecoaches and lassoing horses and it hasn't gotten old yet. The Legend of the West sidemissions are a little tedious, and you can't complete them until the game is essentially over, which makes the outfit you receive too little, too late. In fact, some of the coolest outfits (e.g., FBI uniform granting you amnesty from the law) can only be used after the game has been beaten. I imagine this is to keep the gameplay fair insofar that you must really beat each mission to progress.

    The online multiplayer is enjoyable as long as you've got a couple of friends to play with; it seems as though every random person I've met is an insufferable 10 year old who wants nothing more than to tea-bag your corpse. Co-op missions are varied, attacking gang hideouts is a blast.

    If you get the game, sign up for the Rockstar Social Club! You'll get additional challenges, cheat codes and outfits at no extra cost to you, extending the gameplay for at least a few hours. The DLC is great, too - who doesn't enjoy tomahawking a townsperson or sniping with an explosive rifle?

    Once you embrace the opening cutscene, you will step into the jacked up shoes of John Marston, the main character. He is, if not apparent already, a cowboy, one who is seeking revenge. He was once part of a murderous gang. However, to Marston's surprise, he is back stabbed and left for dead in the desert of America. He is rescued by a rancher who goes by the name Bonnie and in return for her nursing of the man, John Marston repays her by doing odd jobs for her. Still, revenge is only one tree in his enormous forest, as the feds take his family away because of his sins. He is forced to complete tasks for the feds so he can take his family back home and start a new life. But at the same time he must achieve his revenge as he moves on to New Austin and eventually Mexico in which area outstandingly large. John Marston makes new enemies and friends along the way, all of which are memorable and lovable. Player be warned, this game is extremely (I use that word strongly), extremely vast and deep. Starting off with the core story of the game, the amount of words that can be used to describe it is itself incredible. The game has a way to keep you hooked from it's very beginning all the way through its +20 hour storyline. John Marston is a deep, deep character and it is clear he is going through a rough time. As you continue the story, you quickly realize that he is willing to do anything for anybody just to get his revenge and to regain his family back. This may seem silly at first, but you then realize how much he cares for his family. The story is perfectly paced and the missions never get tiresome or boring, as you can ride your incredibly detailed horse around the dynamic vistas of the wild west. You don't get to get closer to your family until near the end of the game, which also is a very moving and strong part of the story. This brings me to the locales and the side missions. The locales are in their own way distinct, diverse, and deep and that adds so much to the story. The characters you meet along the way are some of the best ever in a video game. The chemistry between them and John Marston is engaging in a sense that you'll actually feel like you're in the wild west. The side missions themselves are also some of the best mainly because they actually contribute to the main storyline. They are so good that some of them should go as far as to winning an award for best side mission. However, the gameplay is strong with the dead-eye system as well as deep and solid, but it can get a bit wonky and easy.

    This brings me to the world. Huge, vast, colossal are only few of the words to describe this open heaven. Collect herbs, hunt wolves, shoot birds, skin boars are only some of the few things you can do in this open world. You can go treasure hunting to unlock new outfits or complete challenges to become legend of the west and fill your fame meter, which impacts the way people talk to you. This also brings up the karma system. You can choose to be a goody two-shoes cowboy, or one hell of a bad ass. Either way, this affects the missions that you do. Speaking of doing, despite a few bugs, the best part of the game is the fact that you can ride through the beautiful sunsets of the game while admiring the musculature of the horses and the heavy attention to detail to everything around you especially the characters and towns. Everything is incredibly gorgeous and stunning. The atmosphere created is easily the best of this generation; this feels like the wild west.

    The voice acting is phenomenal in the game. There isn't a single character with a bad voice actor in the game, and I don't know how, but I recognized the people without seeing them, with only hearing their voice. The game sucks you in even more with the tremendous job of voice acting. The soundtrack is just as good, if not better. It fits so seemlessly into the backround when you explore what the game has to offer and it is of such high quality.

    Lastly, the multiplayer is every bit as good as the single player. Create a possy and roam in free play, kill each other to level up and earn new weapons, horses, and characters in team deathmatch, capture the gold, or for the enthusiasts, play it all on hardcore mode. The multiplayer is insanely deep with its leveling system, and it goes on par with even Call of Duty.

    Get this game. Calling it a bang fo your buck would be an understatement. Incredible game. Just incredible.

    I make my own Movie with it. Great Game, Great Graphic. It is easy to lose track of time. When I will finish it, I will start again.

    Great game. Main story is linear but pretty long and interesting. It remainds me movies like Unforgiven. There is large world with a lot of things to do and plenty of side task/quests. If you like TPP action games you have to play it.

RDR is one of the greatest videogame experiences because it successfully gathers a well told story, beautiful scenarios, outstanding characters (both major and supporting roles) and the greatest gameplay mechanics and missions compilation from the whole Rockstar's library. It is trueIt is an absolut merit to say that a videogame could capture a good part of Leoni's western moviesfeeling. RDR is one of the greatest videogame experiences because it successfully gathers a well told story, beautiful scenarios, outstanding characters (both major and supporting roles) and the greatest gameplay mechanics and missions compilation from the whole Rockstar's library. It is true that at first I got a little disapointed with the empty world when compared to GTA IV, but on the other hand, traveling from place to place reminded me of how much GTA San Andreas was awesome. If GTA IV impressed me with a higher maturity level than all the previous titles from the series, this subject takes a step further on RDR, as a one of kind plot on its debate about morality and consequences of your action. Plus, a very enjoyable multiplayer content comes with the pack. Not to say that this game is perfect, the final missions are very anticlimactic compared to the rest of the story, but the final mission and the ending makes this bad experienced to be quickly erased from your memory. In the end, you have a one of a kind opportunity to join John Marston on his journey to save everything left that matters to him, and learn from a tragically beautiful perspective that the scars from his past are deeper than the ones in his face, and to comprehend that the good and the bad relies on single actions and gestures of individuals, because people don't simply change, but the cirscunstances always do.… Expand

    Completed this game just today. A magnificent game that improves over GTA 4 in every possible way. The graphics look more detailed, the gameplay is better and there are far more weapons to be messing about with. My only complaint is that the ending was rushed and I was let down due to the fact that the game felt much shorter than GTA 4.

    Recently, I'm playing the PS3 version for one of the best games from these generations and what I can say it's that, I didn't find any problem at all in the single-player (glitches , technical problems , or playability difficulties ) . In simple words, Red Dead Redemption is another master piece brought to you by the folks from Rockstar , without a doubt is a definitive tittle to your library.

    Just so much fun and so different from all the other adventure shooters out there.

The multiplayer is fun and has some really great game modes. The real treasure of RDR is the single player. A great story, perfect music, and spectacular eye candy make this a must play game.     For me this was pretty much everything GTAIV wasn't... an immersive story line with a new world that was exciting to explore, from the mountains all the way down to the lush green plains and then the rolling deserts...     No game ever deserves a perfect ten, but RDR is the closest to it! Everything about the game is wonderful, the story, the setting and the characters! John Marston quickly becomes a favourite and you become attached to him! My favourite game I have ever played! I didn't want it to end!

    It's much more than just GTA in the West. It expands upon the already solid formula we're so used to from Rockstar's earlier games and brings its own flavor and character to a genre which was sorely lacking. There's something in this game for everyone and once you've finished the 20+ hour long story, there's always the ranked multiplayer to keep you busy in the Wild West for quite some time.

I will not tell you anything about the story, but that it was epic. I still can't believe what happened. I don't care if this sounds nerdy but John Marston is one of my video game role models. Online is epic (again I can't tell you, you have to experience it). Now a question that always hangs, GTA4 or this? If you want to be a good guy, go for RDR. If you want a modern setting, go for GTA4. Simple as that. But just remember that you get your money's worth in this game. Epic story, epic gameplay, epic online. Get this game.… Expand

    Fantastic game by Rockstar. The PS2 Red Dead Revolver I believe has a better story line than Red Dead Redemption. I enjoyed the weapons, enemies, and over all plot. I like the ending which had an excellent twist. I believe this is a solid title with plenty of extras that will keep you coming back for more.

Single-player is better than multiplayer in my opinion, because there isn't as much to do online, and other players often kill you for no reason but XP, meaning that you rarely play as a team.     the game is fun and not so much GTA as people say. i really like the hunting part of the game, there is alot of side quests to do so if you want to play more you can always do all the challenges and stranger side missions

    I think it is the best PS3 game I ever played. The only bad thing I found is that the beginning and the ending are boring compared to the action of the middle of the game. But this is a really good game, with an excellent soundtrack, an excellent scenario, an excellent gameplay, an excellent map, sublime landscapes, long life expectancy (+ multiplayer).

    The best game ever for this style. Better than GTA 4, Better than everything. There's just so many things to do. You can hunt, you can kill outlaws, you can be an outlaw, you can do secondary missions, you can play poker and stuff, you can simply do the main missions (and they're awesome). The only problem is the GLITCHES. the game is loaded of them. I'd give it a 9.5, but I can't. 9 it is, then.

You can hunt for animals that are sprinkled all across the three areas that you can traverse through, there will be countless amounts of dynamic encounters like saving a treasure hunter from pilfering bandits or engaging in a good old-fashioned duel to test the agility and grit of our lone ranging. The Dead Eye Meter as well as regenerative health, while making the game seem like an easy ride the way through, actually distribute a lot of the difficulties from other Grand Theft Auto-inspired games and allow the player to play the game challenged but not completely overwhelmed. There are also tons of other minigames as well, such as arm wrestling, poker, horseshoes, and even little propaganda movies. The lore and the history shown through this game is also captivating as well, and you can feel quite nostalgic from reading old-timey newspapers that are unapologetically misogynistic and retro in their own feel. I was worried that the diversity of the weapons in this game would be few and far in between, but in actuality, there is an arsenal of weapons to find, choose from, and use in the game, if several guns are categorized in the same field, such as sniper rifles, repeaters, shotguns, miscellary, and pistols. the only few gripes I have with this game is that Horse controls can be a little shoddy, and I still haven't quite found a way to stop a horse from moving at all (unless I kill it), and the fact that the main storyline kind of ended on a disappointing note. It wasn't as dramatic as I hoped it would be. Still, this game will definitely be worth your money if you want to engage yourself in a top-notch competitor for other western-themed games to come.… Expand

    I have never played a better western game. How they got all the elements right is beyond me. The horse riding, gunplay, environment and game mechanics deliver a truly western gaming legend. Absolute proof that Rockstar has what it takes to make the next GTA and RDR as good as we want it to be and much more.

    Red Dead Redemption is one of the best western based games of all time. The scenery is stunning and the story sucks you right in straight away. It has a gta feel but it feels more unique. Most of the time I get sidetracked by playing poker or blackjack and forget that I'm a cowboy. The joy you will get from this game is high and it is one of the best games I have ever played. I give it 9/10

But coming from Rockstar, I expect noting less. Including amazing, physics , graphics, and dialogue. As well, as having a ginormous free roaming map. It shows a disguise of being a common shooter game. But in reality, it has all the components of a classic game, within our community. It possesses humor, heart break, and gives you the Western feel. Throughout the game, you feel connections between the characters that you meet, almost as if you really knew them. You feel the tragedies they go through , as if they were your own experiences. In my opinion, this game has single-handedly out shined any game made by Rockstar. I suggest you pick up this game and give it a try, you definitely will not regret making said choice. - Trenton

    Red Dead Redemption is the entire package, a most attention grabbing self-portrait of art, impressive dialogue, and a heart stopping act of scenery. The game itself earned my money, I especially enjoyed the campaign of the game. The campaign included a breath sweeping, mind blowing, and anticipated storyline of a cowboy determined to save his family from the downfall of the United States. The storyline also included laughter, seriousness, acts of realism, and fantastic character posing and acting. If you are looking for a game to play that is both serious, and western-like, get Red Dead Redemption right away. My other love for this game takes part in HD graphic multiplayer mode. If I ever needed some good old fun with my friends, I would rally up some and play the multiplayer non-stop. The problems I have with this game, would only have to be the nudity. Now, before you get all serious, the nudity is unnecessary even though it makes the game more realistic, and adds some interest. There are two parts in which nudity occus (which can be skipped), one where you walk in a barn and there is a man with his genitalia cut off and he is hanging completely bare. The next scene (a follow up to the near-ending of the game), is where Jack Marston (your main character), walks in on an old friend of his and a random mexican woman have intercourse.     I was wary of how well an old western setting could be made into a video game, but this one nailed it. RDR has a great story, setting and mechanics. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, they release "The Undead Nightmare" and throw a twist on everything, but it's great.

    I'm not a huge fan of GTA games. I've played them all and enjoyed most of them, sure. Every new game released by R* is always something that people tend to congregate around and marvel at the incredible skill of these developers.

    Rockstar nailed the look and feel of this game. There's great visual fidelity, and some of the best sound design a game has ever had. There is a mission where you go with a character named irish to mexico, and the ending that leaves you riding through mexico at sunrise with a great song will give you goosebumps. The ending also left me feeling EXTREMELY underwhelmed. It felt like I had dumped 50 hours into the game, and had no idea why. The gameplay is across the board very good, with some standouts and some missed notes. Gunplay, horse controls, deuling, and hunting are excellent, along with the slo-mo dead eye shooting mode which allows you to tag multiple targets and helps you pull off impressive kills/get out of sticky situations. I don't like how whenever you skin an animal, you have to watch the same cutscene of John skinning the carcass again and again, which can get long if you're hunting bears or elk (there is a glitch which allows you to skip it if you park your horse over the animal and then skin it). RDR is one of the games of this generation hands down, and while you're at it, you can also play the excellent multiplayer and the phenomonal zombie apocalypse dlc undead nightmare.     The game just recreated reference western, even the Clint Eastwood did it. In terms of gameplay the truth is sagging because of similar assignments, but the setting and the mechanics of the game and well worth it. Try this game if you love westerns.

    now this is a good game I haven't played single player much as the multiplayer is good enough to justify whatever the cost is now. but that may be me. I have been playing this on and off for two ears now and still can't find a problem with it. very good game. just giving it 9/10 because it isn't my favorite game. glitches are funny too and not a bad thing at all.

The story revolves around John Marston, a former outlaw who tried to leave behind his old way of life and start a family, but this is turned on it's head when the government takes his wife and son away and forces him to hunt down members of his old gang.

    Gameplay wise it is pretty much a reskin of GTA IV, but this is not as bad as it sounds because the mechanics from GTA IV work better in RDR than they do in GTA IV. A new mechanic in the game is the Dead Eye feature where you can slow down time and manually point targets on your enemies and then quickly fire the shots with dead accuracy, Dead Eye is incredibly satisfying to use and a good implementation into the game.

    Being an open world game has its merits and its flaws for this game. On one hand you have this beautiful sprawling open world with the Frontier and Mexico with beautiful vistas and varied locations, but you'll spend most of your time looking at a horses backside because everything is so spaced out (a trick is to just set a waypoint and use a campfire to fast travel there).

    I'll start with the things you (like me) probably won't like. There's a lot of repetition, the animation sequences for picking up ammo, flowers and skinning animals will grind, especially since you might be doing it as many as ten times in a row. You will get tired of being poor and of being told there are new items at the gun store only to find it's just ammo you got from corpses anyhow. You probably won't really start to enjoy the game until quite far in actually. There isn't a lot to do in the world besides hunt so you better learn to enjoy the slow pace and atmosphere of the game, something it really does well I think. I'm sure so far this is putting you off the game, but hold your horses and read on.

    Tips: When you're on a cart with some other character don't skip it, those conversations really help build the story, which isn't delivered in an in-your-face sort of way.

    This game felt to me like one of those books that you force yourself to read, all the while wondering why you're bothering yet stubbornly you push on with that 'I've started so I'll finish' mentality and by the time you finish it you sit in stunned silence realising that this book is the greatest book you've ever read. In a similar fashion I had to wait a couple of days before I could bring myself to play another game, I had to have time to process it all. It was more than just a game, it was an experience!

    As for Undead Nightmare there's only a couple of problems: The button press icon to pick ammo up from corpses doesn't show up reliably. There could be more story cut-scenes. Since it's basically just fun DLC though it's amazingly full featured. The need to conserve ammo and actually run away from the undead coupled with the fact that even when you're armed to the teeth later on you can still die surprisingly easily will keep you on your toes, which is exactly what you want in a zombie game. Undead Nightmare does a surprisingly good job of capturing that survival horror feeling from the early Resident Evil games, and the setting is a nice change for a zombie game!    … Expand

The environments and graphics took my breath away and riding through the wild west on your horse is one of those video gaming moments that I'll never forget. Couple this with a great story and main character and you've got yourself a wonderful, wonderful game. Cut short from being a masterpiece by the slightly sluggish feeling combat and the fact you're dumped with a character you hardly even know at the end of the game.     I think it takes a certain personality to play this game - one with a Slow Pace. If you are looking to ride around doing odd jobs, occasionally getting back to your main objective - all the while enjoying the countryside (graphics), small talk and soundtrack....then this game is for you. Otherwise, hang-up yer spurs and call it a day cow-friend!

    My favorite game on PS3, excellent story, solid gameplay, great music and environments, lots of fun, main quest and side quests are great, and finally we don't see that many games taking action during this period of time so I felt like it was a refreshing experience, Rockstar at his best, even better than most GTAs in my opinion.

    But you are given freedom in the way you handle things outside of the games 13 hour main campaign.
    Outside of the story is where the beauty of this games immersion really starts to shine
    Its clear to me now why so many systems from this game have been added to series like assassins creed and also why it works here and not for them.
    Red Dead redemptions world is basically a giant desert, it’s pretty empty.. this can turn off a lot of players, It won’t and doesn’t surprise me at all to hear many find this game to be boring.. it can be, but isn’t really a run around and have fun kind of game…there are very few npcs roaming and inhabiting the world, but those that do all have a personality and a story to them.
    As you travel throughout the world on horseback you’ll run into strangers asking for your help, all which is optional.
    Some wanting help with getting a land deed, their wife, or are just in need of some materials that you can find organically in the open world.
    All of which you can deal with in your own way, you can pay someone off or just kill them and take what you’re there for.
    There is however an honor scale, you can get away with doing a few not so good things, but if you terrorize the world, the npcs will react to you in a bad manner.
    Adding to the oraganicness, You can also pick flowers, herbs, and hunt and skin animals.
    Hunting in Red Dead Redemption feels so right because the animals feel alive and real like all other npcs, they don’t feel like they are triggered or spawned into the world, they feel like they live there.
    Everything down to the mechanics screams immersion.
    The game asks for physical input in both running and controlling your horse.
    You have to pay attention to the game, you can’t just hold a button and go, It definitely takes time to get used to such a system of immersive mechanics, but once you do you will greatly appreciate it.
    Where the game does loose its spark at least for me is about 1/3 of the way through the main campaign. While the story really is great and the characters are brilliant, the mission design after the first 3rd of the game all plateaus.
    At first you are doing immersive tasks like hurdling cows in a bad storm, going out to catch a wild horse, really bringing the world to life, but later in the game it gets massively boring and repetitive..
    It turns into a lot of cover based follow the marker 3rd person shooter and ride shotgun while you take out the bandits following you over and over and over, luckily if you can manage to stick it out through this grindy section of the mexico part of the game, things start to pick up again for the final 3rd and missions will begin to feel varied just like before.
    But the annoying npcs that accompany you on many missions constantly rushing you and never shutting up about how slow you’re going doesn’t make the campaign any more enjoyable.
    But trust me, it’s worth it to make it to the end of this game.
    There’s also a free roam multiplayer where you can join other players in the same open world from the single player game to take over gang hideout and earn some cash, unfortunately multiplayer these days is pretty nonexistent, so don’t expect to get too much out if unless you have dedicated friends to play with.
    Red Dead Redemption is a beautiful and immersive game.
    I found it to be relaxing, boring and grindy at times, but Escapism at its finest.

    El mejor juego de Rockstar hasta el día de hoy (mejor que GTA V).
    Lástima que a Rockstar no le de la gana de doblar sus juegos.

    This game made me fall in love with Westerns as a genre. Interesting characters, immersive sandbox and a cinematic feeling that doesn't limit player freedom (outside of missions), tied together with some passable shooting and horseriding.

    Even without the online, this game's certainly worth your time.

    One of the best sandbox games of all time. All in this game was made thinking in perfection and rockstar done it. Graphic aspect was stunning at it's time. History is worthy for the cinema. I only can tell you to play it, if you didn't do before.

    An argument with ups and downs in its pace, but its quality remains unquestionable, even improving reaching the end of the story, and bringing one of the best endgame in the history of video games.

    It is playable, but there are still serious failures and the Dead Eye is broken. Its aroma to Grand Theft Auto takes its toll.

    An amazing action adventure that throws you into a beautiful recreation of the old west. There is a solid main narrative but the only thing that holds it back from a 10, having just finished the witcher 3, stories, missions and quests are repetitive and bland beyond the main plot.

    Uno de los mejores juegos de la pasada generación de consolas y sin duda de los mejores videojuegos de género western de la historia.

    A día de hoy, John Marston es un icono en el mundo de los videojuegos a la altura de Marcus Fénix o los Big Daddys de la saga Bioshock. Todo un referente en el género western y los cimientos de los siguientes sandbox de Rockstar.

    Imprescindible.

    Story: the story is that of REDEMPTION ( who would have guessed its in the title) john marston a former outlaw turned farmer forced to be a bounty hunter and hunt down his former gang is a stroke of brilliance, this is one of the best plots in video games , the main character is a believably violent man in a violent world , it is a somewhat ironic game but the irony of it makes john marston a very tragic character , especially more so on your second playthrough, he is a man who wants to redeem himself of his violent and criminal past by being a ...well violent bounty hunter but it all comes full circle in the end

    Worldbuilding: from people challenging you to duels to being a merc in a mexican revolution , to getting robbed on the street this world is packed full of lore and random events. some locations pack lots of detail in them while others do not, most of the world is literally flat. given the setting this isn't out of place but it's certainly boring even when compared to gta 4

    Graphics: for a ps3 game it looks pretty good , even in 2020 , not as good as some other games from that era but still pretty good rockstar games always have a level of quality to them that seems to be rarely matched. its the little details that really shine here , shooting out windows , realistic blood splatter ( or at least as realistic as hollywood dose it) alot of these visual flares are somewhat commonplace today but were novel concepts back in 2010

    Gameplay: back in 2010 this game played great now a days it feels a tad clunky especially with the horses , the gun play however is fluent and slick as ever even more so than red dead 2, it is a little op that you can just have a whole arsenal on you at once but hey that's just a technical limitation at the time so ill shh about that. the shooting is great , every bullet has impact ( unless they shoot you) , shoot someone in one leg they limp shoot some one in both legs they kneel ( I SAID KNEEL) run up to them shoot them in the face , rockstar makes violent murder fun but still violent murder

    Sound design : voice acting is really good , everything in this game is voiced and all main characters are voice perfectly , to the point where i can imagine it getting any better , especially for john. gun shots sound crunchy , like a kfc big crunch sandwich gun sounds just UMPH yummy , the music was a little lackluster though , combat music i never even noticed it , and the couple of actual songs in the game were few and far between but otherwise sound design is top notch

It's a masterpiece for consoles, i don't have words to describe how alive and perfect the word in red dead redemption is, only spending 100 hours on this game to understand the great job that rockstar did on that game.
