I own this game and bought the DLC. If your brain dead and cannot spend the time to understand the stats system then yeah you are going to have a rough time. If you actually spend the time to enjoy the customization involved along with the combat then you will enjoy the game. Great boxing game with heavy customization and you need to enjoy that part to understand the game. If you have seen the movie you understand the background so this is not about the story it's pure action. It's a fun game! Expand

It's strange how people describe this game as being difficult or clunky; I picked it up when I was a kid who didn't have a clue how the stats on your robot worked any further than "bigger number good", but I got through it. Multiple times. The fighting system is actually way more fun and in-depth than you might be led to believe and there are a few different ways to tune your bot.

It's a shame the game's been discontinued and can't be bought anymore.

Based on the movie. In 2020 boxing is no longer practiced by humans. Matches are fought by huge robots controlled by humans outside of the ring. You build your own robot and gradually unlock more parts. It's a shame that the fighting system sucks. [January 2012, p.84]

Real Steel is not a noteworthy videogame. It is a shame, because the idea could have been great if it had been well executed. It has a very limited and repetitive gameplay, and a lackluster appearence.
