The fact that this is a rail shooter blows my mind, humanity ditched it for a REASON: because of progress. If this was a IOS game, it would be acceptable if it was 1 dollar, but I might think twice. Between fake trailer's and HORRIBLE voice acting, there is almost nothing to admire about this abamination

The game is also annoying where you have Rambo screaming almost every time he shots his gun, I must admit I did laugh at first, but wow it got annoying fast... This game doesn't do anyone any favours and it actually is a chore to play.. I only recommend this game to people who like to review **** games on Youtube... I don't usually rate any game a 0 because some games might be crappy but I like to give credit where it's due and try and look for the good in games.. I could not find any good from this game... It plays like an basic "shoot 'em up" arcade game, but in addition there are some more progressive features such as a level up system with points you can use to upgrade stats. The game also uses "active reload" (E.G. Gears of War), this is a manual reload where a perfectly timed reload finishes faster, and in this game, increases the number of bullets in the clip.

The biggest drawback of this game is the graphics, they are very disappointing. It's almost a crime to sell a game that looks like this while PS4 is on the market. There is almost zero voice acting, all the dialogue is original audio from the movies. It's kind of cool in a way, especially since you're hearing the voice of the late Richard Crenna in a 2014 game, but it can sometimes seem tacky and/or have bad sound quality. Also, I won't go into details, but this game is a bit campy. There are a lot of things that missed the mark and made me laugh out loud. 2 Player mode makes for a silly and fun time with a friends.

The game is an arcade style rail shooter. So, most of the bad reviews that are being written, people are playing the game with the analog controller. They are dragging around a cross hair with a control stick. Let me assure you that this was the "secondary" method of play and only if it is the only way you can play it. Then, I say skip it. However, this game was designed with the "Playstation Move Sharp Shooter" in mind. In my mind, this should have been a "PS3 Move Sharp Shooter" exclusive. Forget the xbox and pc. Heck they did eliminate the Xbox version in the US. The blasting action is non stop. It is much more immersive and challenging with this peripheral add on. The QTE's (quick time events) act as a nice violent break from all of the RAMBO AK-47 CARNAGE since you can rest the gun to your side while performing these. I was actually upset that there WASN'T a QTE for the epic knife kill on the gun boat in Part II. It took me 6-8 hours to complete this game on EASY. The 2-4 hour completion time people are clocking themselves at is with the mouse and keyboard. There is ZERO"aiming skill". They are just pointing, clicking and popping heads. Lame. The graphics are my only complaint. But, REEF took a risk with this game on a restricted budget. And, we are comparing it to next gen games already. The graphics are decent enough. As a RAMBO fan, I still love playing through some of the greatest action movie moments of ALL TIME. Riddle the police station with M60 bullets? check. Ride inside the Huey for the epic bazooka battle against the Russian? yep. Shooting helicopters out of the sky with the DShK Heavy Machine Gun accompanied with epic slow motion explosions. OH YEAH. 5.1 surround sound? DO IT. Turn it to 10. Make the neighbors complain like I did. The only mistake with this game is that they should have made this game 5 years ago with the release of the Playstation peripherals. The graphics would have been above average then and Sony would have sold more controllers. Better late than never. This game is getting bad reviews because of the release date. But, this game is much better than "The House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut" which got a 75 on Metacritic just 3 years ago IMO. Expand

It has lots of replay value due to when you unlock more perks you can get higher scores and do more carnage. I am at level 13 and when i last played the first level again it was so much fun by the end i was grinning and my heart was pounding. Now the bad things you need to go into the options from the start and alter the speed of aiming it does tend to fly around the screen otherwise. Some cut scenes do stutter at odd times. The graphics are not great they are just about good but they do the job. The music could be louder but i just turned up the sound and the fun this game is when you are shooting a screen full of bad guys with the Rambo theme in full swing is amazing and brings a smile to your face. On the whole if you like rambo this is a good buy if you love the rambo films and stallone then this is a must buy game. I will be playing this for a long time. I hope they do the fourth film as dlc. Unlike most movie tie-in games that come out to cap on a movie's success, Rambo the Video game simply unearths the license well after it's last debut in the theaters. Sadly enough, that would make you think the company behind it was probably trying to create a game worthy of the license. Unfortunately, as soon as you saw the first screen shot of Rambo in 2013, we all knew it was just going to be a lazy, poorly made cash-in, and that's exactly what we got here.

Initially, setting up Rambo as a rail shooter isn't exactly a bad premise, especially for a game that's supposed to be following the story line set by the first three movies. Plus, rail shooters have proven to be fun on consoles as well as the arcade, so it comes off as a smart move at first. Along with the standard rail shooting, you also have an ability called wrath, which puts you into a rage mode where ammo is unlimited and kills restore your health. It all sounds promising at first, but quickly becomes boring after the first hour without the presence of any real challenge.

The cover system is abysmal and sometimes, it doesn't even work. Often your cover will be destroyed or will fail to take you out of the firing line of your enemies, and that's even if you have the ability to take cover. More than likely, Rambo will just stop and start shooting out in the open, forcing you to take damage against your will. The developers obviously didn't know how to make a game difficult without making it cheap, and nowhere is that more clear than when the game throws new enemy types at you.

You'll fight enemies beside the standard grunts, but none of them are good ideas. Grenadiers suck because the window you have to kill them is so small. If you're in cover yourself, killing them is hopeless. Flamethrowers and armored grunts are sound like good ideas at first, with both of them having their own weak spots, but even then they still absorb a ridiculous amount of bullets before they die. Plus, if you have the auto-aim on, aiming for their head or flame pack is almost impossible.

Nowhere are the game's flaws more prominent than in the final level. The last engagement in Rambo III is punishingly difficult, with the game throwing absolutely everything at you. Divided into three sections, Rambo manages to throw anything and everything it can at you, forcing you to duck in and out of cover while you fire a shot every few seconds. The auto aim is helpful in ensuring you'll hit your enemies when you pop out, but like I said earlier, the auto-aim only inhibits you when taking on armored enemies.

The only relief of gameplay you have from the shooting are the quick time events, which are meant to substitute for any melee combat or stealth mechanics, but they're too easy and grow stale. Even the stealth sections with the bow are boring, and go on for way too long. In all honesty, I did like seeing the fights (which are supposed to be recreated from the movies) from a different camera perspective than the movie, but it was disappointing to see all the inaccuracies involved, which is the biggest insult to this franchise.

The stealth montage of Rambo taking down the officers isn't accurately recreated to begin with, but the biggest problem with it is that the game has you slaughter almost every cop you face. It's one thing to take an alternate approach to a story, but changing it outright is unacceptable.

As if that all wasn't bad enough, the game looks and sounds terrible. The graphics are pathetic, and character models fail to accurately recreate their movie counterparts, with Rambo probably being the worst example. With his freakishly big hair, dumb face, awkward muscle placement and his constant glow from way too much sweat, Rambo ends up looking like a deformed and sweaty Gene Simmons.

As for the sound, almost all of the dialogue is ripped directly from the movie, but the developers were so incompetent they didn't even bother to enhance the sound to standard quality. Needless to say, all the dialogue and speech from movies made over 3 decades ago don't hold up, especially when compared to the rest of the game, making the sound design inconsistent. Plus, hearing the same dialogue and music repeat over and over is beyond annoying.

Rambo the Video Game is just sad. With so many bad elements here, it's easy to ignore the few good things the game had going for it. The prologue, the perks system, and the upgrades are all bogged down by the rest of the crap you have to sift through. With only three hours of gameplay to offer, Rambo the video game is a lazy, incompetent, badly designed cash-in that takes away from the legacy the license already has. Nobody should play this game, not even if you're a hardcore Rambo fan. Stay away.

So it’s no surprise this is a bad game… one that gets worse the longer you play it…
I’ll give the developers credit, they do mix the game up a bit as you travel through the story of the Rambo trilogy for 3 and a half hours…
You’ll do quick time sequences, guns, stealth sections with the bow which were my favorite.. and explosive sequences…
much more variety than any of the heavy fire games… but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this game is just a joke…
It looks and sounds like an early ps2 game… cut scenes are choppy, the level design is uninteresting…
    it’s a chore to get through…
As you do shoot your way through levels either alone or with a friend you get graded based on the difficulty you complete it in, by the way you might as well not even consider playing on normal or easy because you’ll hardly get any credit at all other than story progression… no trophies for you..
You shoot bad guys, full up your wrath meter to slow down time for the opportunity to gain health…
which isn’t too much of an issue until later in the game...
You also level up to unlock skills and perks to buff your Rambo up to your own liking…
However the final mission feels like it’s from an entirely different game…
There is an insane difficulty spike out of nowhere and brings down any hopes of recommendations from me…
They stack heavies turrets and dozens of enemies right on top you, massively spaced out checkpoints, and cheap kill these enemies before the tanks seers you sections that can mean instadeath…
And all of this is so bad because dying on any difficulty other than easy more than a few times means you have to start the mission all the way from the beginning….
This game was just garbage up to this point... now its painful garbage...
It’s like walking on broken glass trying to finish it…
    Don’t play it
I Give Rambo The Video Game a 2.5/10

Rambo: The Video Game just disappoints, over and over. There are no new power-ups or twists to keep you interested, no memorable boss fights, and no touches that fans of the film will go "ooh" over. The team at Reef could've done a lot more with this, something along the lines of what Sega did with its arcade Rambo game. Instead, they took the easy way out. Go watch the movies instead. All of the thrill, none of the pain, Johnny.
  2. It only avoids the worst score I can give by virtue of the fact that it (just about) functions. Rambo inspires more anger than biting your tongue just after you’ve stubbed your toe.
