    While this game doesn't have alot blood and gore, this game is till one of the best action titles out there. The sleek style of Sigma 2 really gives it a unique feel to it compared to it's 360 counter part. There is some camera issues but I feel it adds to the game difficulty as it's a difficult game in itself.     To begin this review, I did not play Ninja Gaiden II for the 360. So I am starting fresh in playing this. I did play all the other Ninja Gaidens starting from the original on NES, SNES, Ninja Gaiden and Black for Xbox. This version is definitely the best one I have played. For one the graphics are superior to Sigma, the sound is 5.1 DTS which is great for Surround Sounds, and this game To begin this review, I did not play Ninja Gaiden II for the 360. So I am starting fresh in playing this. I did play all the other Ninja Gaidens starting from the original on NES, SNES, Ninja Gaiden and Black for Xbox. This version is definitely the best one I have played. For one the graphics are superior to Sigma, the sound is 5.1 DTS which is great for Surround Sounds, and this game play I like better than Batman Arkham Asylum. The collisions and combo system is great on there, but Ninja Gaiden requires a higher level of skill to achieve, and overall is better to me. AA is unique so that is why it's getting more attention right now. The difficulty so far on Warrior isn't hard at all if you played the other Ninja Gaidens. I mastered almost all the combos on the other games, been through some extremely tough missions on Black, and so a lot of those combos are in this game. It's a matter of using your invincible frame rates to get past the aggressive enemies. Now Master Ninja mode is another story, one direct hit and you are dead which adds realism to the battles. I look forward to Uncharted 2 this month, but in my personal opinion, this is my Game of the Year because of the intense action but Uncharted 2 can change me.… Expand

    Bad port. LAGGY as hell and no gore. No wonder why Itagaki didn't want to talk about this port. And what the hell was that boob jiggle? As a female gamer I was very offended.

    Great game, graphics are sharp/clean, the action is as furious as ever. The game is not as difficult as NGS1. The blood removal was somewhat of a letdown but you hardly notice it when the action gets really intense. Story as most NG games go is forgettable but the co-op is a nice addition which adds longevity to an already long game.

I will admit I'm disappointed with the removal of blood and a few ranged weapons, such as the windmill shuriken. And I dislike the inability to do missions alone. Instead we get a mindless button masherthat is barely above God of War levels which is a real shame. Level design is also not nearly as effective as the first NGS and the camera seems even more wonky and ineffective than it was in the first and with enemies that CHEAT their way through this time things are not nearly as interesting. You are going to die in this game...many times and not because its your fault like the first NGS where your own death was mostly your own doing. Bosses are just overpowered in every possible way imaginable and its mostly luck based whether you defeat them or not since they leave you no space for improovemetn. Stick with the first NGS and you are good to go. Play the second only to see how far ahead the first one is.… Expand

    Better than xbox 360 version, and its one of the best games this gen... Its sooooooo underrated, the story is good and the gameplay is smooth, i dont know why some people hate it, its a really good game

    The Ninja Gaiden series is on the way out. This games showed me why the top staff leaving last year was such a big deal. Too many incoherent design choices were made with this and after completing it on MN, I was even more frustrated than I was after doing the same on the 360 version.     To think that they decided to cut back on the violence level in the brutal fights in favor of creating booby controls for the new girls. Especially considering how the girls all look like dolls with fake boobs attached. Taking out so much useful content that even the imperfect original had was stupid, stupid, stupid.     Not as good as Ninja Gaiden on Sega Master System. Its harder, and a lot less fun. I think modern Shinobi games starting with Shinobi 3 and Shinobi on PS2 are far more interesting ninja games. This isn't something I'd be impressed with and I couldn't find a redeeming quality in it besides the graphics. Thats that.

    The core gameplay was more satisfying and exciting than most other action games I've played. Snappy, intense, and with a flow that keeps the entire campaign on its feet through unpredictable (though clichéd classic video game) environments. Campaign of impressive length and variation.     The game is a piece of imbalanced **** compared to Ninja Gaiden II by Itagaki... Just don't play it, the game is completely ruined because Hayashi knows NOTHING about creating a good Ninja Gaiden game.

    Violence, blood, dismemberment are some elements found. The game is incredibly fluid fast is tactical, and the animation is very natural. It is the best option that exists in this genre.

    Great action game, as good as the first one or even better. As far as I can remember, it is more complete than Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and there are new combat options, enemies and so on. I do not particularly like the story, but it does not matter too much since gameplay is so addictive. It is probably not as difficult as the first one, though.

    The ninja is so fast that it's hard to control, but once it's controlled, you get used to it.

Personally i prefer the toned down gore. 3 complaints: Master ninja difficulty is a bit cheap compared to NGS I. Story is exceptionally weak. Now I understand this isn't Devil May Cry or Heavenly Sword, and I understand the game is about blocking and countering at the right time. But even on the easiest difficulty, I don't expect to die 20 times in a row on the second level boss! You literally only have about a half-second window to attack in. Get it wrong and you loose half your life. Miss the opportunity and spend another 20 seconds trying to block and evade the many unblockable moves.... miss a few blocks and loose half your life or more. Ok, so the game is supposed to be hard and frustrating and there's no way around that (actually, you can try to stockpile healing items which will get your through the boss fights). But this leads me to the other complaint: for a tough grinding game, there's not enough character development. You get a few extra weapons and special attacks, and each weapon can be upgraded around 3 times (although the rate of upgrade is controlled by the game, you have no influence over it). But the weapon upgrades just unlock a few more combos and it's pretty hard to see the difference really. So the actual gameplay is very simple. Just hack & slash your way through every level, period. The incentive for said slashing is only your own personal satisfaction. The story is never a driver, nor is there any real reward system, which are major let downs.… Expand

You are basically forced to move down an obvious path, and along the way batches of enemies come at you, which requires you to endlessly and mindlessly mash the buttons until all enemies on screen are dead.     Gameplay is still the classic Ninja Gaiden that we all come to know and love. Graphics aren't improved much as far as environments go but the characters do show more detail than the 360 counterpart. There are a couple things that I don't like about this version. One is the removal of the blood and gore. In the 360 version it really adds to the gameplay and atmosphere. When you are cutting off limbs, you see red blood not purple mist. That is completely dumbing down the game and gives it a less brutal feel. Also enemy count was decreased but the AI is more intelligent so it makes up for that shortcoming. The game however is much easier due to the fact that projectile spamming has been significantly reduced. All these shortcomings make it feel less brutal compared to the 360 counterpart. I've beaten the 360 version twice so it will be easier for me. One thing I do like is the new and improved bow and arrow. It's much easier to shoot enemies with it and there are unlimited arrows much like your shurikens. The new boss battles are entertaining and challenging so that is a welcomed improvement. The online mode is fun and I haven't experienced many lag issues. Overall the action is great and the game is alot of fun. If you haven't played the 360 version then get this game. It's not as good as the first game but it's still a solid installment to the series. In the next NG hopefully they combine the brutality that the 360 version offers with the updated visuals and management of accessories like the bow and arrow as well as management of your essence and weapon upgrading. Plus the game should have been longer and get rid of the female characters in the single player campaign. They completely ruin the pace of the game. That would bring NG back to the top among action games.… Expand

    If I would have played Sigma 2 first, before playing Razor's Edge, I would probably appreciate it more. But Razor's Edge does everything Sigma 2 was trying to do, but better.

But it also takes away the original game's biggest features, the gore and number of on-screen enemies! On the plus side, "Sigma 2" looks better and runs smoother than its Xbox counterpart.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is pure cancer. There are some redeeming qualities, but not many:

    1. Fun new co-op mode.
    2. New characters for said co-op mode.
    3. New Marbus boss fight is fun in CH15 instead of 2 nuclear armadillos.
    4. Gigadeath fight in CH3 is easier than original version on Xbox 360.
    5. New Enma's Fang weapon is fun to use.
    6. Removal of gatling spear gun and water combat along with it - I consider this a good thing as killing all those water mines in CH5 in the original NG2 was tedious at best.
    7. No more incendiary shuriken spam from the black claw ninjas.

    Aside from this, this how you take a good game from the Xbox 360 and completely destroy it.

    1. Difficulty done wrong: Hayashi's idea of difficulty (talking about Master Ninja here) is make everything a bullet sponge and enable them to spam exceptionally cheap 1HKO grabs. Enemies that were relatively straight forward to defeat in NG2 are now exceptionally tanky and annoying. Examples are the Van Gelf demons and Claw ninjas (I mean seriously, 2 izuna drops? Can tank a fully charged UT?). With the exception of the Zedonius fights and Dagra Dai, minions no longer spawn in boss battles

    2. The co-op missions are exceptionally cheap on the higher difficulties and I seriously doubt they have been play tested. The new Neam Ninja's idea of difficult is to throw you in with an absurd number of bosses at the same time. For example, UN1 has you facing off against 4 greater fiends at once and UN3 has you at one point facing off against 3 fiend Genshins. This trend continues in NG3.

    3. A massive number of enemies are removed from the game. Most of the time you feel like you're walking through a ghost town. Missions 3 and 14 are excellent examples of this in particular, but all levels have been edited in this respect.

    4. No gore - they could have at least made it an option like in the Vita version.

    5. Rachel, Momiji and Ayane chapters - mixed feelings. They are fun to play but on MN they are a complete pain. Rachael's mission is just pure cancer - completely uninspired and just has you facing off against annoying imp fiends.

    6. No tests of valor - why was optional content removed from the game? It makes no sense.

    7. Removal of ability to charge projectile UTs in favour of unlimited ammo. Complete removal of incendiary shuriken and windmill shuriken. Replaced with howling cannon, a slow firing gun.

    8. No option to solo the ninja trials, co-op sessions are often laggy and AI partner for offline play is completely incompetent.    … Expand

    I played the OG version when I was a teen and I hated that game so much.
    2 Years later my friend told me he beat the game on the PS3, and I was shocked.
    Then 7 years later I found out that he played the Sigma version, which is the game I borrowed from him. Sigma 2 has actual balance to a certain degree. Thing is that Ryu's moves are very good and I know how to use them. The only    I played the OG version when I was a teen and I hated that game so much.

    Then 7 years later I found out that he played the Sigma version, which is the game I borrowed from him.

    Sigma 2 has actual balance to a certain degree.
    Thing is that Ryu's moves are very good and I know how to use them.
    The only issue the game phases is directing Ryu towards the target I want during combat.
    I'll try to sum my complain to one sentence:
    Ryu can't turn 180 degree, and that is the main issue.
    There are certain times where I do a flying swallow to no where even though I directed my stick towards the enemy.
    I combat itself is good and the aggressive enemies really make the game stand out from other HnS games.
    Minor issue would be the long throw animations the enemies perform on me, but I am fine more or less with that.

    My main issue with the game I these sh*tty bosses.
    My god do I hate them.
    - Long grab animations
    - Super armor for every attack they do.
    - Always keeping distance from me so that I wouldn't be able to attack them when they're vulnerable

    It's pure BS and I'm glad in Sigma 2 they made the yellow essence only for items and UT.
    Look I get the game is hard and "only a true ninja can beat this game" but if you wanna make the game hard, then take the time to balance the game first and polish the moveset, in this case the basic movement which is clunky and thus not allow me to attack and the position I point with my left stick.

    I REALLY HOPE for a 4th game! The ninja gaiden series holds so many potentials! Something that can suppress the DMC series which became a shallow combo only game.
    We need to really enemies!!! ones that don't stand for 10 seconds jerking off!

    And Ninja Gaiden delivers just that.
    There needs to be a DooM Eternal Hack and Slash game, and Ninja Gaiden is that game!
    And no, DMC5 is barely even challenging.
    DMC5 is your Sengoku Basara with just a little bit of extra aggressiveness from your enemies.
    Also Vergil is a Ninja Gaiden boss, so he sucks.

    And to end this review I'll only say one thing to the DMC fanboys which I despise for their shallow brains that only think of how to continue a combo "stylishly".

    DMC3 is my favorite hack and slash game of all time.
    Your DMC4 is **** and you know it. DMC5 is an okay-good game when you actually analyze it.
    Now **** off and good play your Claw-grib (I know many of you barely use because no one can)    … Expand

    It's great. It's the best game I've ever seen. The picture is exquisite, the movement is smooth, and the design is exquisite.
