Pros: Nice graphics, awesome gameplay, fast but tactical multiplayer with nice melee executions.
Cons: Boring story, you never get the feeling that the game has reached it´s climax, like The Final Big Battle you know? And that´s pretty dissapointing.

Some kind a work on mistakes of Killzone 2. The game has become much bigger, more impressive and more friendly to the player. Plus, the developers were able to achieve a very high quality picture, even without the use of modern graphics effects. Surprisingly, the PS3 is still capable of showing such a high-quality picture

KZ3 is a worthy successor to KZ2. The single player campaign is somewhat short but it is solid. Online game play is a definite improvement over KZ2. Introduction of ecto skeleton and jet packs makes the online game play more fun. It was good decision on Gorilla games to introduce fixed re spawn points on the maps. This decision makes the game play more balanced compared to KZ2. Good game overall.

Killzone 2 is my favorite first person shooter to date,
So needless to say I was excited to see what was done with the sequel..
Unfortunately, all that was done was turning a great exclusive to a call of duty clone.
    Killzone 2 comparisons aside, this isn’t a bad game…
The characters are interesting, the levels are varied.. you can play through the campaign with a 2nd player…
But the story creates no urgency in the way killzone 2 did, turning this into a mindless 5 hour campaign of just shoot the bad guys with the same boring weapons in every other game…
I will give them credit.. they do mix the campaign up quite a bit,
Youll be in the snowy mountains with jet packs, youll be taking down giant mecs, stealthing your way through a jungle…
but the story and levels never feel connected…
making the game ultimately feel all over the place in a bad way..
And the multiplayer is surprisingly still fairly alive at certain times of day,
so there is some opportunity to have some multiplayer fun with the different classes killzone 2 introduced..
Being able to strategically support your team and level your classes up
but to bring the comparisons back in..
The magic has been lost.. the multiplayer maps are garbage in comparison to killzone 2…
I did have fun, but these maps have got to be the weakest ive ever seen in an online shooter..
Theres not much else to say about killzone 3…
It’s become a generic shooter, with an ironically predictable story that accomplishes nothing…
And a unique multiplayer crippled by a lack of any true creativity.
    I give Killzone 3
    an 8/10

The first Killzone is one of the worst times I've had playing a game, and the second Killzone is one of the best. Where does this one rank? Where does this one rank? Definitely in between, and much closer to the second that the first. There's a lot this game does that is by far the best in the series. For one, the stealth aspects are quite astounding for a FPS; only in games that blend first and third person playstyles do I really see good cover-shooting like Quantum of Solace but this game truly impressed me in that regard. Another element is set design, or level design, which is quite beautiful. We finally see parts of the Helghan world that seem quite alien, which makes sense and should have been parts of the first two as well. With 350 years of human evolution on two separate planets, it's easy to see how the humans and the Helghan-evolved humans would be different and this entry finally explores that. The gameplay pretty much felt exactly like Killzone 2, which I loved, while adding some new weapons and tech to help vary the gameplay here and there. Those things also impressed me but all of those can really be summed up with the word "style," the best part of the game. The "substance" was lacking and I kept thinking to myself that if Killzone 2 was The Hurt Locker, then Killzone 3 is 13 Hours. It's the Michael Bay version of a Killzone game, and the best possible Michael Bay work at that but still, it felt shiny and full of explosions, using the very basic war trope of soldiers wanting to be soldiers yet their superior refusing to allow them. And the villain...could the Nazi references be any more on-the-nose? Like, I appreciate historical references but this game straight up beat that horse to death. Social commentary's power hinges upon the subtlety of delivery, and this delivery was not subtle which made the game a tad preachy and predictable. That might be slightly overanalytical, so I'll get back on track. Great game, a lot of fun. It's easily the most challenging game in the series for me so far but it's also a lot of fun, providing missions that all feel unique and fresh, never getting repetitive and always keeping me on my toes. Definitely recommend, and I'm hoping that Shadow Fall will be good so that Killzone has a proper trilogy. Expand

I normally don't like exclusives at all, but Killzone is an exception, I also liked Uncharted, but definitely nowhere near a d*ckriding level, more of a Tomb Raider guy.
The first I remember was kinda dark, also brutal? The 2nd one was I guess ok, but the 3rd was great again, haven't played Shadowfall, even though it's like 6-5 years old now? Weapons are almost identical to KZ2,

Killzone 3 is the final game in guerrilla's kill zone trilogy and what a trilogy of ups and downs. if half life created the cinematic fps killzone perfected it. its a love letter to cinematic game play and thats what makes this series stand out.

Killzone 3 is the final game in guerrilla's kill zone trilogy and what a trilogy of ups and downs. if half life created the cinematic fps killzone perfected it. its a love letter to cinematic game play and thats what makes this series stand out.

story/characters: after the events of killzone 2 , your character Sev among others are stranded on helgan and everything seems desperate , the isa is pulling out and you are ordered to surrender to be negotiated for as pow. you refuse as helgan pow's are tortured and brutalized and instead try to find another way off-world leading to an outcome of violence and destruction no one wanted. the story was a roller coaster from start to Finnish and really REALLY had potential but most of the characters fell to flat to care and in ricos case thats really not good hes had 3 games worth to develop and hes still a gung-ho trigger happy heavy even if the plot flowed well with the world building the characters feel static even after 3 games . actually id say the first game did the best in characterization
    story/ characters 7.5/10

World building: in the first 2 games helgan felt like the nazis. in the 3rd game they felt a little scarier. after their Hitler is killed they fell more like a man who's got nothing left to lose and sole purpose in life us the kill everyone witch is why i think the entire planet of helgan is more interesting than any of the main characters. they up their tech and fire power and prepare for a second nuclear attack on vectah. my problem with this though is that almost all the world building is to do with helgan witch limits the scope of the world. Overall the world is still great and adds enough to it but im a little disappointed they didn't add more
    world building: 7/10

graphics: killzone 1 and 2 have a huge jump in graphics and that is mostly due to the different generation of consoles but from 2-3 it feels like it could be the same game just continued. that being said the graphics look great and i think killzone 2 was ahead of its time and this looks great the ps3 is pushed to its limits animations are weighty and slick and explosions are cool and its injected with a healthy dose of neon
    graphics: 8/10

gameplay: cinematic game play at its finest , this game was a joy to play it controls really well and it is much more responsive than killzone 2 and little game play ticks were ironed out. still the best cover mechanic out there and it dose it without taking you out of the first person view like most other games would. guns feel a little more accurate making head shots easier to pull off but still its more strategic to aim for center mass like in number 2. the executions look cool and adds a level of depth to gameplay but the animations arnt as polished as the rest of the game. Still its a more refined and polished experience versus number 2 and thats a good thing
    gameplay 9/10

sound design: the music is reminiscent of starwars. being a similar world to starwars this is a good choice. orchestral battle music evocative of grand space operas its makes a perfect fit here but mix it with some industrial sounds to set it apart. the voice acting is as good as killzone 2 witch at times felt a little awkward but that could be the character writing/ script. sounds effects are great every one of them dose what it needs to do and dose it well, there was no sounds i actively avoided.
    sound design 8/10

    7.5+7+8+9+8=39.5

    39.5/5 = 7.9

killzone 3 is good , there is no denying that but i still cant help but feel a little disappointed by the game.

The gameplay is fast, the game is gorgeous (a recurring theme with Guerrilla since KZ2), and the story actually has a meaning this time. The characters still are pretty bad.

Most importantly: the helghasts are still intimidating and good looking. and the MAWLR boss battle is also really fking metal. I dunno why we still haven't got to take control of one of those things in a remake.

Sev is dry and the narrative in general has you following orders from the ISA ring leader, giving no sense of personality to any of the characters. Another big issue is that most of these characters are your typical mucho men, with big muscles and a lot of guns, but it's hard to convince us that they're the good guys. The visuals are obviously stunning, some of the best I've seen on the PS3 (Hell, even modern PC games) hands down. I'm decent at FPS games, but the single player on Normal was very challenging, annoying and frustrating trying to figure out how to not get killed. Your team's AI is obnoxious, they were constantly getting stuck on objects, running around mindlessly. When I was downed, I was constantly getting dialog (Which again... Obnoxious) saying "I can't reach you! I'm coming for you! You're too far! No wait... I'm not going to lose you!" It takes sooooo frustratingly long to restart once you die because the AI is trying to find a way to revive you. In Co-op it is worse, ten fold. That's not to say that this game doesn't have it's great moments. It's a great "action movie." In fact, I think a majority of the game is cutscenes. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but you don't even get to play all of the cool parts, you get to watch them! And the ending! The ending of the game is absolutely terrible. It's as if they ran out of time. It's boring, uneventful, and predictable.

Multiplayer seemed to be the best part, but after connection errors, constantly getting sniped, and the other team constantly being infiltrators, it got boring fast. Oh, and the bots. Bots galore! You can level up in a couple days and it doesn't really show much. The multiplayer feels slow and sluggish, which can be refreshing for those who hate the arcade style CoD. All in all, I played the single player alone and then co-op. I played the multiplayer for 2 weeks or so. And I'm going to get rid of this game. I'm completely bored of it. Lastly, I'd like to mention that I wanted to buy the Move for this game, but I couldn't afford it, so I played it with a regular dual shock. So I can't speak for the 3D and Move experience, but I can imagine it can add another layer of depth.

The levels are incredible detailed, with great lighting and effects. As for the FPS element of it, the game is uses a cover mode system which to me was a little clunky, the selection of guns was quite limited too. That said the campaign mode is long enough to keep you entertained and for me the vehicle sequences were the best. The only thing that is missing from the multiplayer is more game modes, but hopefully they will add more with future updates. I'm not here to compare KZ3 to Bulletstorm! However, the one striking and remarkable difference is Bulletstorm may not be as graphically polished as KZ3, BUT, and it's a huge BUT, I'm having WAY more FUN with Bulletstorm than I did with KZ3. And that includes enduring some of Bulletstorm's annoying glitches. KZ3 SP campaign is so disjointed with abrupt cuts to lengthy cut-scenes (some I thought I would actually play!?!) and missions end oddly with your character stopping abruptly as the screen fades to black. WTF? It was as if I was playing pieces or demo sections of a game rather than the finished, whole cohesive product. To me It just seemed that GG needed another month or so for polish. The aiming/targeting doesn't seem as lethargic as in KZ2, but it is still present and now pretty much is a love or hate it mechanic of the series. I haven't delved into MP yet and from what I read that is the main reason why the game scores so high. But, whenever I play an FPS I ALWAYS go through the SP campaign first and that above all is why I cannot overlook or let KZ3 rest on it's MP laurels.

The singleplayer in this game would be way more interesting and entertaining if you were playing a Helghan soldier. The way it is now, it's like watching a C rate action movie. Multiplayer, however, is a different story. Three main game modes are present - team deathmatch, warzone, and operations. Warzone features seven rounds of varying objectives. One round might be simple team deathmatch, the next might be search and destroy, and following that might come assassination. Certain objectives really favor certain playable class' skills, which really keeps the game feeling dynamic and forces players to always be on their toes. It's an absolute blast and makes control of the large maps crucial, however, spawn camping can become an issue if the teams are lopsided or if one team simply sucks at the game. Operations is a more tightly focused objective mode in which one team of players defends against an attacking team. The defense is usually tasked with protecting certain locations or preventing the attackers from stealing crucial items. Each objective is located in a certain segment of the map as the attackers slowly gain ground and force the defenders back. This keeps the action tightly focused in certain areas when there aren't enough players to fill the large maps. With a full house, the gameplay is even more hectic and fast paced. If you want a memorably singleplayer campaign, go look somewhere else. This is a multiplayer game, and pretty good one at that. I recently picked up the game a couple weeks ago and it is still well populated. Expand

Gameplay wise it is more of the same with some incredible set pieces thrown in, one in particular has you and your allies taking on a giant destructive robot as it destroys literally everything around you.

By no means a perfect game nor really a perfect sequel, but really only more of the same. Regardless of it still being a solid package, it's a shame they weren't able to add some more innovations to the formula.

What bothered me was that Sevchenko or "Sev" replaces the main character from Killzone 1 who then dies in this game, his death having no real effect on me. That was disappointing. Killzone 3 pretty much wraps up Killzone 2's story, just not as in a boring way. The different environments are great, and the introduction of new enemies was refreshing. Though the game feels a bit hollow, and even contradicting and then later far fetched. The game feels different without the common goal of a valiant defense or taking down Visari. It feels like an unnecessary expansion, and it seemed like an average game with a not too great ending for the series. The cutscenes are marvelous crafted, and the game is the most realistic war game out there. Overall, this game is a great first time play through, and that's it. Online multiplayer is "eh". The game is no more than a collector's item to be shelved for long time fans of the series. Overall: great graphics, great sound, great gameplay, but not very appealing to new fans or for mutliple replays. The story just seems very bare. The ending cutscene was so...just dumb, that it frustrated me. Personally, Killzone needs to end here at the third installment. The game is just simply overrated. Expand

Enemies in Killzone are pretty tanky: it takes around 10 body shoots to kill. It might make sense because of the armor enemies are wearing, but it makes shooting sloppy, as you don't have a sense that you shots are hitting. Covers continue to be useless as is in all Killzone games: enemies hit you with pinpoint accuracy despite you being in cover. Although you could do the same thing to enemies hiding behind cover but what's the point of making a cover system if it does not work?
I feel like the weapons in Killzone isn't realistic; although its the 24th century and battle cruisers warp around the galaxy, soldiers are still using physical bullet rifles with red dot sights or just iron sights. Cmon we need futuristic guns! Especially when the environment is so futuristic and amazing!
Even with these issues however Killzone 3 still gets a 7 with its vibrant world, awesome graphics and alright level design.

The game controls a lot better than its predecessor while still keeping the feeling that your weapons have weight. The level design is also a bit better and i used the cover mechanic quite a bit while i don't remember using it at all in Killzone 2. It was a ton of fun to play with my friend and we used strategy and tactics for the first time in an FPS single player rather than who can get the most kills. With the third instalment in the series, Guerilla games went bigger and grander, but not necessarily better. Killzone 3 ends up feeling like an extended campaign of the second game. The player won't be able to shake the feeling that this is just a little less memorable than the previous title.

The gameplay feels much less "sluggish" than the last game, which is good, but it's still sluggish compared to most others. Some mark this as a good thing, saying it gives weapons a feeling of "weight". The thing is, there's a difference between weight and response time. The fact that it wobbles and slows the character down gives a great sense of the physical interaction between you and your gun. The fact that it takes a second after you move the joystick to register movement..does not. Let me put it this way:

If you're carrying a 40lb gun, you're probably not going to be able to jump freely and run and twist like a maniac. However, if you want to turn 45 degrees to face an enemy, you'll be able to that nearly instantly; there is no delay between your brain signaling and your arm moving. In that regard, Killzone 3 still feels sluggish. If you want a weight-y feeling without loss of control, try Crysis 2.

On to visuals and audio.. they're some of the best on the consoles. I was never a fan of the super-intense blurring that they like to apply on to every single object, but the terrain is chock-full of detail and high-res textures. It doesn't quite measure up to the best games on the PC, but it's pretty damn impressive for a console that's 4-5 years old. The audio is loud, booming, and intense. Personally, I'd say Bad Company has got it beat, but that aside there's no competition. I could do without that annoying N64 beep sound every time I kill an enemy, but hey, that's just me.

Storymode.. is depressing. I can't remember the last time an FPS story has really stood out to me. I enjoyed Halo 3, but that's because I enjoyed the first Halo, not because the game itself had a great story. Reach and ODST (in my opinion), were both pretty disappointing. All the recent Call of Duty games are completely forgettable, though Black Ops did at least try to make some sort of plot twist (thought not with a very good conclusion). And so with Killzone 3 you get awfully typical, sometimes ridiculous action storyline that you will forget in a few weeks. Apparently, the campaign story is just there to move you from place to place in today's shooters. So, if we want quality storytelling, look to RPGs.

Multiplayer.. the reason most people buy the game. Well, it's really nothing special. The only things unique are "Botzone" and the game-changing feature Warzone that return from KZ2. I don't understand why you would need to play against Bots on a console that has built-in WiFi with free access to the internet, but it's certainly cool that they added it. Warzone keeps longer game sessions less tedious, but I found they sort of thin out the aspect of teamwork. I feel Battlefield games excel in almost forcing random people into working together to get the job done. In Warzone, every 5 minutes you have a new objective, pretty much convincing you to work at it by yourself in the best way possible. I'm not going to say there's no teamwork, and in fact there's probably more than in most Deathmatch games. Those features aside, everything else is what you expect. Call of Duty-esque gameplay, on some good maps (more variety than KZ2). You can unlock slightly more guns than last time, in a much less linear fashion. But really, the progression can't really measure up to its competitors. Black Ops went full out with their gun-customization and credit system, and even Reach gave a pretty bountiful armory to fill up. Plus, in terms of custom games or any other non-ranked multiplayer, KZ3 falls desperately short. Black Ops has their little betting system, and Reach has Forge-World and unmatched Custom Game editing.

So there you have it. For the record, I own a Playstation 3, an Xbox 360, and a gaming PC. I play games based on merit, not based on what company decided to sponsor it. I compared this game to BlOps and Reach several times because those are the main console shooters these days, not because I have any love for those too. I can't stand playing Black Ops are after so many years of MW, and while I enjoy Reach, I do feel it was a disappointment campaign-wise, and I don't think it measures up to the prior games in the series. The FPS market has been a bit dry recently, so I highly recommend waiting for two games: Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3, both for the PC if possible. The gameplay in Crysis 2 will feel familiar to CoD-fans, and the thought of playing Battlefield 2 with next-gen graphics and destruction just makes me feel warm and happy. If you have only a PS3, yes, get Killzone. It's a technical achievement and a decent game, but in substance it's not anywhere near "the best FPS ever".

Marksman Class with stealth + one hell of a machine gun is asking for trouble.
Is promotes camping at its finest and allot of people care how much they die in a multiplayer game where K/D ratio is a matter of (skill)

So its natural that alot of people choose the most overpowered class for this kind of gameplay.
I got shot so many times from an invisible guy that i got frustrated by going for objectives.
Objectives that makes the gameplay fun if you go in there with a group and get it done feels as an acomplishment.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Single player short review: Killzone 3 is a disappointment.

This game has all the ingredients of AAA title and yet it fails to become an amazing classic. Visuals are astonishing, make no mistake about that, but a game needs more to keep me wanting more. Gameplay is smooth, but still feels like a corridor shooter. I didn't feel it was story-driven. Everything felt like a showcase of ideas glued together with cutscenes.

The biggest disapointment is the lenght of the single player campaign, roughly 5 hours is way too short. The ending is anti-climatic and leaves you thinking "wait, what, was that it?!". On top of that I believe developers made a big mistake of putting Rico in charge most of the time - I want to be the man here, I hated "staying on his six" and felt curiously happy and unwilling to help when he got downed. By no means though, did he stop his annoying chatter...

Now, to sum it up - I'm on my second play-through and would urge you to get the game, because it's definitely worth playing. You'll have fun. But don't expect a classic, because Killzone 3 hasn't lived up to the hype.

Unfortunately, the campaign's still only about 5-6 hours, but in that time, you have a lot more interesting scenarios that you're thrown into; far more setpieces and toys to play with that really mix up the gameplay, including a good number of vehicle sections which are mostly all fun, except for the EXO suit, which makes the screen shake so much I got motion-sickness for the first time in any video game (including VR). Seriously, it's okay to take a break if you feel nauseated in that section because you probably will. I, without exaggeration, almost lost my lunch. Unfortunately, the cover system is still just as horrid. It seems to make you stick to it from farther as well which means it's much harder to do what you should be doing, which is avoiding it altogether. This game also insanely exacerbated how often you get insta-killed. You have practically no health whatsoever after the first half of the game, even on normal, so prepare to get one-shotted A LOT, it made many of the sections that should have been more fun (like the jetpack section where fun fact: your gun actually heals enemies rather than kills them) a complete chore. Is it a great game? God no, but at least it's competent, and at this point, I'm just happy we didn't get another Killzone 2. Expand

This was better than killzone 2.
They improved the camera and aim function but still feels junkie, improved story and dialogs with more gun variety

Grim and entertaining FPS that actually cares about its worldbuilding and that makes for a good tale of war.

I can't believe all these positive reviews for this slog of a game. People must just have some fond memories of the multiplayer with friends because the main single player game is mediocre, but with AAA graphics for the time.

Gameplay is far less than Halo or even Call of Duty which I guess they were competing against. The mobility is so bad. Did they go for a WWI trench warfare type

That is terrible for a video game. You just go through trenches in bad brown-grey stages. Vey stale space Nazi bad guys that don't make sense. Meathead main characters. It is not very satisfying killing enemies. Sometimes a headshot just removes their helmet. Sometimes you think they are dead on the ground, but they just get back up. The AI for your teammates is just garbage. They are not effective at all in a fire fight.

What a huge step back. I don't even want to play any console shooters anymore. Call of Duty has ruined this genre. The story is shallow and pointless and multiplayer is as stupid as any Call of Duty game.

I just can't get into this game (I'm currently on mission 6). Every time I try and play the campaign I find myself tempted to hit the eject button before I doze off. Then I thought hmmmmmmm...maybe this is similar to CoD (bad campaign, good multiplayer). I played online for about 30 minutes and I thought ...eh.... its oooook, no cover system really (don't get me started on the single player "cover system"), environments are kinda dull and uninteresting. I have to admit that I did enjoy the stealth mission and snow level but I found it hard to continue playing after that. I'm not writing this review to offend anyone...I rate games based on how I feel playing them. Gaming shouldn't be about - "oh this game has stellar graphics", or "this game has so many extra things I can do!" Games should make you feel something...if Killzone 3's goal was to make the player feel as if they're actually in a Warzone shooting at enemy combatants, they may have partially achieved that, however having 2 dimensional copy and paste main protagonists pulls the game right into the **** and by the end of the game (or 6 chapters in) you just don't care anymore. And before some troll goes OMG XBOX FANBOY lemme just say that I believe PS3 exclusives are better than 360 exclusives. I was able to borrow a friends PS3 and play his copy of Uncharted 2 and later that day I found myself at Gamestop buying a PS3 and UC2. I'm glad I was able to at least rent KZ3 and give it a try. If you're playing KZ3 and love it that's totally cool, it's just not for me.

Pros: Gorgeous Visuals Characters look somewhat life-like Multiplayer is ok

Cons: Lack of a real cover system (in SP and MP) Game becomes too repetitive and boring Can't go prone Crouching near cover can sometimes make you stick to it Hollow-uninteresting characters

No real story because as soon as you're taught to shot your weapon, you begin the story of shoot, shoot, shoot, and shoot some more. Even the enemy were boring and uninspired. The enemy were not originally created but just made into a futuristic Nazi/Soviet hybrid. Three hours worth of game time and i haven't picked the game up in almost three weeks. I just don't understand this game at all, it's pretty, but the campaign is just a rails shooter with... a horrendous storyline. All of the action seems to happen during the cutscenes. Online multiplayer was boring to me, close quarters shooting... maybe I missed something. The graphics are nice enough.

The voice acting in the game is horrible, no real effort was put into it and some doesn't seem like their own voices. And sometimes the sounds the characters make are pathectic.
The online is bad, I jumped in a game and it was lag from hell. The new layout for the classes are very boring, I loved to see what my character looked like but KZ3 just ruined it.

Killzone 3 does have some impressive things to bring, but it doesn't live up to what I hoped. A bad game.

I found the single player experience to be more frustrating than fun - cheap deaths, boring cut scenes (by the third or so I skipped the rest entirely), enemies popping up from areas that have been previously cleared out. I find myself going back to COD because even at the higher levels there are still more weapons to unlock, perks to go pro, and challenges to complete. Once you hit level 20 or thereabouts, there's nothing to shoot for here outside of playing the same few maps over and over with the same tactic each time as the loadouts are very limited. Most frustrating for me is the lack of team play (rare in any online game I guess) - I typically played as a medic, but nobody sticks around at death long enough to be healed - they just hit the respawn button the second it comes up. It might help if they added an in game notification to tell you if there is a medic nearby, or if your team consists of nothing but snipers so you might as well not wait. Expand

To be perfectly fair, I'm new to the whole Killzone series. I've heard all the usual hype about it, and was finally intrigued after seeing some gameplay commentary via YouTube. "Why not?" I asked, and dove right in.

The consensus is one of underwhelming. I didn't play with the fancy-pants features like PlayStation Move nor 3D blubbery, not that I'd ever want to - I doubt either
To be perfectly fair, I'm new to the whole Killzone series. I've heard all the usual hype about it, and was finally intrigued after seeing some gameplay commentary via YouTube. "Why not?" I asked, and dove right in.

The consensus is one of underwhelming. I didn't play with the fancy-pants features like PlayStation Move nor 3D blubbery, not that I'd ever want to - I doubt either feature would give me any sort of "enhanced gaming experience," as advertised, because when it comes down to it, the core gameplay and plot of the game should be the bit delivering an "enhanced gaming experience," not gimmicks. Killzone 3 drops you in the middle of an ongoing conflict between the ISA and brutal Helghast regime. And it begins with a direct defiance of orders within the military ranks. Your hotheaded buddy-pal gets the bright idea to cap some high ranking Helghast official, and while this is apparently a very serious action to have taken - a very bad action, at that - he gets little more than a stern talking to and an angry finger wagged in his face.

This direct defiance of orders seems to be some sort of theme between the main duo involved in Killzone 3, leading to the worst organized military endeavour in the history of organized military. Your characters seem to do everything within their power to disobey their superiors, wandering around and causing unnecessary damage and risking the lives of tonnes of other soldiers. Granted, your characters are trying to do good - but after constantly spending the game neglecting their leaders, you'd wonder how they manage to get anything done. The plot carries out in a very fast paced manner, and while you don't need to be invested in the series to understand the goings-on, you might be left behind if you don't pay attention at least when the people talk. Fortunately, the plot is as thick as it needs to be, and this "without-crust" tale of gritty space-war adventures isn't too deep. The graphics are simply stunning, that is to be true. Everything is so vivid and powerful. Even though half of the game is spent in blown out city-centres of the Helghast stronghold, there is a strong sense of immersion. The blizzard levels in particular make you feel wrapped up in a snowstorm, making the firefights ever more intense. Sound is also of high quality, but these days - especially for games such as this, with enormously large budgets - that's no flashy feat. In the end, however, Killzone 3 isn't much to boast about. It's pretty, and the story is enough to perk an ear or two. But unless you're a huge fan of the Killzone series, you're not missing out on much. In the end, it's another tail of über-patriotic democracy-loving space marines trying to stomp out the threats of totalitarian dictatorships. Nothing you haven't seen before in dozens of other FPS games.

The classes aren't really used tactically considering most people pick class with trip mine or infiltrator. The infiltrator ability allows him to have a friendly icon over his head all the way up till he is about 3 feet from you, but by then its too late. So most of my multiplayer experience was mostly running into trip mines, getting killed by infiltrators, and instant deaths from the overpowered guns. Is Killzone 3 deep enough to snipe PSN players from the COD: Black Ops fold? Probably not. Is Killzone 3 outstanding enough to warrant single-player awards for its narrative? Nope. But let there be no doubt that when it comes to intense gameplay that gives not one spare second for players to catch their breath or laze their way into a routine, Killzone 3 is near the top of the pack. The fact that it's the best-looking game we've seen and happens to support full stereoscopic 3D is just icing on the cake.

Killzone 3 is ultimately a flawed yet stunning experience. It gets the production values and the intensity just right. If it lacks anything, it would be a bit of character but fans will find it absolutely thrilling while it lasts.
