I enjoyed this game so much that I started and finished it in a single sitting, my only complaint is the mortal choice system doesn't make much sense, so you either need to be maximum evil or maximum good to get the powers, so the "What would I do?" idea goes out the window, unlike in Mass Effect where I could be good, but if someone starts annoying me I could push them out a window, II enjoyed this game so much that I started and finished it in a single sitting, my only complaint is the mortal choice system doesn't make much sense, so you either need to be maximum evil or maximum good to get the powers, so the "What would I do?" idea goes out the window, unlike in Mass Effect where I could be good, but if someone starts annoying me I could push them out a window, I can't do that in inFamous because then I won't get the best powers. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. infamous 2 was definitely my most anticipated game this year as the first was so great. the second is even better in nearly every way. everything has been improved from combat to traversing to the powers and graphics. one thing that has been improved but still isn't perfect is the choice system. although there r 2 alternate endings and u get different powers depending on if your good or evil, most of the choices u make don't hold any significant weight. none of the decisions u make up to the last decision have any bearing on it. u can b good and still choose the evil ending or vice versa. even after choosing nix or kuo u can still choose to do good or evil missions so choosing between them makes no difference except for the powers you get. this was a disappointment but this is nonetheless a great game and a must buy if you got the first one. oh and there's user generated content which will give more gaming time on top of the long story mode (10 hours minimum if u complete twice) Expand

There is a cut scene where Ziek and Cole are sitting watching the TV, I was laughing rather hard at just how good the motion capture lighting effects and composition was. Spectacular graphics, a well written and credible plot and qualitative game-play give you a gaming experience like no other. A credit to Sucker Punch and a masterpiece of gaming.

Sucker Punch has delivered on something quite magical with this game, and I certainly hope they deliver another sequel or even a spinoff.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll admit it, inFamous 2 was just as fun as the first game. The introduction of the new melee combat and varying powers was a blast. The re-playability of the game is enhanced with the User Generated Content available but a little confusing (especially if you have MY patience). The reason though for the lower score is that the story is lacking incredibly. Instead of different twists and turns the story of the first game had, inFamous 2's plot was terribly straight forward and narrow. The antagonist Joseph Bertrand was ill defined and seemed tacked on as a character and was not as story driving as other baddies in inFamous 1. The gameplay is fantastic, fun, and revamped since Empire City, but the story is boring and mundane. Half the reason I did not like the story is that i predicted it from the first (a testament to its straight and narrow plot). All in all though, there is ENOUGH story for it to make since and the gameplay is fantastic enough for it to get a positive review. I love all of sucker punch's games, the characters they put in them, and the great and fresh gameplay they always bring since Sly Cooper. Expand

It was fresh, badass and just fun. And whilst inFamous 2 maintains that I still feel that this was a missed oppertunity to propel inFamous into a household franchise like the Uncharted's and co. The game picks up from where the first outing left off Cole, having killed Kessler heads of to confront the beast. Old favourites like Zeke return and a new assistant as such Lucy Kuo an NSA agent. A problem that inFamous 2 had for me was the story wasn't as engaging and failed to draw you as much as the original you feel the same the majority of way through and it lets down the impact of the twists and turns that come towards the end of the game which is a shame as depending on which kharma you build the ending is a clever and leaves questions over future outings. Regardless of that the gameplay is still as fun as ever, theres not been any huge surgery but there wasn't any needed in all honesty! One disappointment is the lack of new powers. The powers are basically an upgrade or am extension like ice slides, grenades nothing really fresh. The enemies in this game are a letdown compared to the first inFamous. Particuarly the big boss battles comapred to normal enemies was like chalk and cheese and you had three big ones that possessed a challenge. However inFamous 2 only really offers two big otherwordly boss battles, and whilst I grant you they are fun theres more approval to be had with the regular baddies. Visually there are some notable improvements in the setting and environment, its nothing overwhelming but is a step in the right direction. Overall inFamous 2 is a great game. Its bigger in many ways and you will have endless fun as Cole zapping enemy after enemy sliding or fyling from mission to mission but in comparison to its predecessor its not as much of an experience and I was left thinking what could have been. That aside its certainly worth a buy! Expand

There are some minor tech issues I noticed like textures loading a bit too late, but that was when I was electro-grinding on some wires at a high speed. And it was like 0.5 seconds of blurry building so it really didn't bother me.

This is a fun game. The major drawback is the extremely weak A.I and the respawning issues (particularly with cars after you have launched them at an enemy). Minus the poor A.I this game is clearly better than the original. It's not for everyone, but if you liked the original you will love this one. I'd give it an 8.5 if I could.

For the past 6 months games have let me down a lot and I just couldn't get immersed into a games world or relate to any character in any of the 10 or so games I've played since Christmas. Well Infamous 2 changed all that. The games great. Great story, beautiful world with lovely graphics and mind blowing powers. The game has some of the best enemies I have seen in a game ever. From enemies that have Ice powers that use an Ice jump to move around the city or summon Ice towers from underneath them to shoot you from high ground. There's also swamp monsters that come in all shapes and sizes and human militia that come with all types weapons ranging from shotguns to assault rifles and sniper rifles. You also have two companions that have super powers and they serve as your good and bad karma partners. I recommend this game to anyone who likes Open world games and great stories Expand

This game improves on everything created in the original. It is phenomenal! The explosions are beautiful and the powers are fun and varied. The karma system adds a little thought to the gameplay and the story is engrossing. I highly recommend this game for lovers of the original inFamous.

Graphics have been significantly improved from its predecessor, combat has also been polished more and of course lots more powers for cole to use on his enemies. The only other thing i can complain about is the camera, depending on where you are the camera can sometimes go a little crazy and that leads to a frustrating death, But the couple of issues i mentioned will be patched so i didn't reflect into the score, definitely recommend this game must buy for ps3 owners. Although the game may not run at 60fps, it often does feel that way. The game runs incredibly smooth and fluid, has no screen tearing, and no blur when you move the camera fast to the left or to the right. inFAMOUS 2 is also much more colourful then the first one, which is a big plus imo, you just have to see the city for yourself to experience how amazing it is, and how fluid. The game also never gets dull, or boring, there's always something to do, to see, or to find. The chemistry and vibe that this game brings is also amazing. A big plus is also the soundtrack played in the game, it's in the background allot, and really makes the game more dynamic, and alive. There are only 2 things imo which inFAMOUS 1 did better, it was the original voice cast that was better, and Cole's appearance, he just looks to "clean" in 2, and he sounded more "raw" in the first one. These are the only things i can come up with, which were better in the first one. The game definitely deserves a 10/10 imho, and is the first game that came out this year that's in line for game of the year ! This game is the best open world / sandbox game i have seen or played this generation. Expand

While the last game didn't look bad, its visuals weren't on par with games like Uncharted 2 and Resistance 2. My only big gripe is the voice acting, where at times you can't hear what certain characters were saying due to slurred speech. Fans of the first game should certainly pick this one up. New comers won't be completely left out to lunch, but I recommend playing the first game before this one. To sum up, inFamous 2 overall is an improvement over the first game. Expand

The set pieces are amazing, the powers are great from the start, the voice acting and action is phenominal. So if you like the first game I will tell you that your in luck and you will like this one. But lets get down to the brass tax. This game shorts the player in a few rather large ways. Starters the story, there was no emotional draw in any way. I felt the same by the end as I did the beginning which dont get me wrong by the time I got their a few twists and turns had sprung up. But with the first I was blown away on more than one occasion. Next the enemies, the regular baddies are fine with their ice powers and then the larger titans and so on but the big bosses are pretty much nowhere to be found. I will tell you that you will encounter 2 otherworldly bosses and that is it. The last had at least 3 with the promise of the beast that flat out lets you down in every way. I would like to have seen a little more back story on some new and interesting bad guys but instead we were shunned and left feeling like their could have beeen more. Which brings me to the powers. For the most part there was nothing new to add to the table. Every power was either an extension of an existing one or just a throwaway upgrade. For instance the ice powers, the ice jump, the ice grenade, the ice rocket, all just the same with a few popcycles tacked on to the after effect. I'll stop gripeing but I will leave on this note. By the end of the first game I felt like I had been through an experience, I got what I wanted and walked away with what I needed. This one just left me wishing for more. Great for a quick playthrough, but I would push for a buy. Expand

It's very fun going around completing other users missions. Some are pretty difficult, some are wacky, some are just completely out there. But trying them is definitely worth it. The game is open and your free to do what you want. There are two paths to go down (good or bad) and each one comes out with differing results, so you will get replay value in that sense. Misson variety is expanded from the first and no mission ever over stays its welcome. What really moved me through the game was its story. The only problem I have run across so far is that the camera can be a little wonky. Other than that, this game is better than the first. More colorful, better combat, better AI, better graphics, and a better story.

On another note, a game review is usually ONE person's opinion. That's why I visit this site. You get an average of all *ahem* "professional" reviews. As well as an average of user reviews. I tend to find user reviews to be more accurate anyway.

This is a very solid and enjoyable game. There are minor issues in this game. The camera is a hindrance in melee combat. It isn't always a problem, but occasionally you cannot see the enemy that you are attacking at all, and you will just be swinging at air, while the enemy has backed up and started shooting you, and you cannot see this due to the camera angle. I am not impressed with the voice acting for the main character in this game either. I much preferred the original voice for the main character. The only other thing is that the game is still fairly repetitive. It has added a lot more enemy types than the original had, and that is an improvement, but most of the sidequests are still carbon copies of each other. That said, this game is still a lot of fun for me. I will likely be playing it to the exclusion of other games for the next month or so. Expand

Fantastic game. Many improvements upon the original. I am a fan of the new power upgrade system, and all of the additional ways to boost both good and evil karma. I don't know if the city will grow on me...Empire City was amazing, but it is hardly something to complain about. Excellent sequel, highly recommended.

Great Game. I loved the first one but it was always lacking polish. This one adds polish and a lot of depth. You have much more options in terms of upgrades and the user generated content means you'll have endless levels to play.

Really can't go wrong with this guy and if you finish the story, you can try out the new UGC . Expand

This game steps forward in every conceivable way. Rather than spitting bile at negative reviews, I found myself wondering where the disconnect was coming from. I am now playing through on my second play-through as a villain and the differences between the archetypes are solid. Trust me when I say that the vistas are gorgeous and I take particular issue with the comment by Decitron in terms of the controls. Simply put I feel like I have far more control and the game is fluid. I do urge you to ignore this one glaringly simplistic review he/she has put forth as it's an obvious attempt to break the mold or appear contrary for the sake of "trolling." I suggest you put some time aside and enjoy a game that introduces/reintroduces you to what a super hero or villain can be: amazing.

This previous weekend I played through a good chunk of the original again, and was reminded how smooth the gameplay is and how dead on the controls are. Yes, the enemies tend to have a bit too precise of an aim, but you never feel like you're overwhelmed or in a no-win situation with them.

The graphics are definitely a step up from the original as well, while not losing the fluid, solid 60fps feel of the game. It never hitches in large battles, even given how detailed the world is.

If you enjoyed the original, it goes without saying that you will love this one. If you didn't like the first Infamous, there's probably not a lot here to draw you in, the controls are largely the same, which, for me, is great, since I really enjoyed the controls from the first game. The story, although not perfect, is still more interesting than most games that come out.

Needless to say, I highly recommend the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the best games Ive played on the PS3. Incredible free-roaming gameplay, smooth combat, lovely visuals, this game has it all. Could have done with the old Cole's voice, but all in all this is an unbelievably solid game. Lovers of Infamous 1 will eat this up. Expand

If you liked Infamous, you'll LOVE... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Infamous 2. I loved Infamous. If you did NOT like Infamous, save your money. This game is a great mix between more of the same vs. innovation. Just my opinion, though.

Truly an amazing game. The original Infamous was the first game to really sell me on the PS3 and the sequel only improves upon it. The new voice acting, story, gameplay, and graphics are all better than the original and I can't wait to keep playing it. The user generated content is implemented smartly and it's going to have basically infinite replay value. I can't recommend this gameTruly an amazing game. inFamous 2 doesn't make many missteps. It may lack the polish and big name license of the recent Batman games, but for a solid and dependable superhero videogame, there aren't many more enjoyable and more consistent than this excellent superpowered romp.

Whether you're a fan of the first inFAMOUS or new to the series, the amount of gameplay and riveting story should please all. A few small tweaks to the Move controls would go a long way in improving the overall feel of the game but an absolutely fantastic and worthwhile title nonetheless.

A very good superhero's sandbox. There's a lot fighting, but it's good fighting. A lot of replay potential. The level editor is a worthy bonus, too. [Aug 2011]
