It's not actually that bad. Coming from a sim racers perspective (iRacing, Assetto Corsa, rFactor) it's definitely playable. Whilst it isn't a sim, I can happily sit down & play for a few hours just to take a break from the serious games. I was able to jump right in & race hard and fast from the get-go, with the AI set to Hard difficulty. (With only the HUD on, if you want to count that asIt's not actually that bad. I was able to jump right in & race hard and fast from the get-go, with the AI set to Hard difficulty. (With only the HUD on, if you want to count that as an assist) After completing the first 2 introduction races I hopped into the Open-Wheel career path and completed my first season there, it was a lot of fun, just driving different tracks and cars (Formula 3) to what I was normally used to. However, the cockpit view is horrible. Everything is blurred out so you can't see the steering wheel or mirrors. This is by far the games' biggest issue that could have been EASILY fixed. Codemasters, please do tell me what the point is of having a cockpit with blurred mirrors? It's almost impossible to enjoy the game with no HUD on as you have no way to tell what position you're in or how many laps to go, or when to change gears, (I go by sound, but not being able to see my engines RPM or shift lights is utterly ridiculous). This next section I'll be going through a few positives & negatives about the game as I know people don't want to read on and on and on.

    Positives:
    - The cameras each have their own unique feel to them but the roll-bar cam is quite nice with just the right amount of FOV set that allows you to see both what's in front and what's next to you, I highly recommend you use this and not the 3rd person camera to get the most out of GRID Autosport.

    - Menu navigation is simplistic.

    - The music can get repetitive, but its surprisingly bearable, or you can disable it entirely in the options menu.

    - Physics for a simcade aren't too bad although some cars feel like they need a bit of work.

    - Career mode is pretty good, with a wide variety of disciplines.

    Negatives:

    - The whole teammate, team stuff doesn't have enough depth. Why on earth should I care if my team-mate does well? I'm only there for my self, not the team.

    - AI pace can be inconsistent from track-to track.

    Overall:
It's not a bad game for a casual racing fan or a hardcore sim racing enthusiast, cockpit view needs to be patched asap though.

While I find the lack of a reasonable cockpit view extremely disappointing, this is the best racing game that has come out since the original GRID. I also miss being able to move up into managing my own racing team but I can live without it. The physics feel great the AI is great, if a little too aggressive (that's what flashbacks are for). I also miss being able to move up into managing my own racing team but I can live without it. The physics feel great the AI is great, if a little too aggressive (that's what flashbacks are for). One of my favorite features and one of the big ones that really sets this game apart from the original is the implementation of a "full race weekend" with practice, qualifying and then 1 or 2 races depending on the class (very similar to what you find in codemasters recent F1 games). However, if you are not in to all the preparation you can still just go straight to the race. The little details of the tracks are also very cool, there are little touches like flocks of birds, helicopters and maintenance workers scattered throughout all of the tracks, these things also change depending on whether you are in practice or the mail event and it really brings some life into the game.

Again, I can't stress enough how disappointing the lack of modeled cockpits is, if it wasn't for that this game would be an easy 10/10. As it is I have to drop the game a point and a half for the omission and probably another half a point for the career mode not being as fleshed out as it could be (although still miles ahead of other non codemasters games).

Best racing game in a long time; physics, AI, sounds, graphics, SFX and track atmosphere are all top notch. If you are looking for a careless arcade cruiser then buy NFS, but if you are looking for the best racing experience on PS3/ 360 then don't doubt any longer and pick up this game!

I'm going to start with the bad news first..
As an avid racing fan, on normal settings, this game is very hard. Crazy AI and far more of an emphasis on SIM than Arcade racing, I found myself going to an easy setting just to get into the game. It's not a visual treat either (unusual for Codemasters) but holds its own.

Good news.. The gameplay is wonderfully challenging and reminds me of the first Grid (the best of the series) far more than the mess that Grid 2 was. The mixture of racing styles is brilliant and a great move, keeping the game fresh. I would have liked a fresh take on the first Grid mechanics but this is an amazing racing game nevertheless, and next to Dirt series and GT 5, the best racing game on the PS3. I can't wait to see what Codemasters have up their sleeves for next gen as they are truly the masters of racing devs. Well done.

I personally prefer this game to any of the latest Grand Turismo games because of how cars handle and just the general feel of the game. The career mode might not be that good and the AI is by no means easy but this is what makes Codemaster's grid games special. The graphics are simply stunning for a PS3 arcade racer and controls are pretty good too. The best racing game I played this year. This is a great racing for all the mostly likes to drive racing cars. There is some street cars like the McLaren P1 and there is a great selection of touring cars that I always wanted to drive. But there is some down like the awfull cockpit view, and they don't by name but thats not your problem. But its still a great game.

Love the game! Great car handling, aggressive AI, practise and qualifying sessions, race radio, great circuits, no-nonsense storyline and menu system. Great that player can choose race disciplines and career progression. Overall very good realism and challenge and the best racing experience I've had to-date!

Then this is a must buy. So many racers around at the min on older gen machines that aren't that great.. This stands out. Graphically very easy on the eye.. And due to lack of racers on ps4 and xb1 at the min, I was more than happy to pay out fourty quid on a ps3 title. Impressive to say the least. Expand

Mediocre game with the same homicidal AI as the last one. Not sim enough for me, too sim for others, it doesn't seem to know what it's trying to be. Graphically the poorest of the GRID series and with the poorest menus. The difficulty level has been set far too high, all round a big "Meh", not worth the money!

Don't buy this game! Codemaster just spit on Grid fans AGAIN. Blurry cockpit view with pathetic engine sounds and **** physics! No thanks. If you are a PC user try Raceroom Racing Experience on Steam. It's free and it's good!

It's FAR from a glorious return...

I try, but this is not a game for regular arcade race gamers like me. It's a shame, because the graphics are ok, and the difficulty scheme is very interesting....

As you may know, I am one of the most experienced players in the world of Grid Autosport. Which is even BETTER than Race Driver GRID, and GRID 2. I can do long endurance races online and increase the XP for all my cars to max out the performance. Yeah! This is the best Codemasters racing game ever. Since I got it in November 2014.

Encuentro el control y la IA del juego muy justa, lo estoy probando y pasadas unas cuantas carreras, no me acaba de gustar.
Tener en cuenta que no lo comparo con un simulador, si no lo valoro como juego de carreras de coches.

Overall, Autosport does things well enough and offers a decent compromise of customization versus accessibility without going off the deep end for serious gearheads the way Gran Turismo does.

They wanted to excel in everything and ended up excelling in nothing. The series is eating its own tailpipe and needs to be put down - ideally to make room for TOCA. [Issue#244]

Just as in GRID 2, gloom of single player races diluted by adrenaline of online modes. They offer not only the same five career disciplines, but also essential management, easy tuning, leveling and weekly competitions on the RaceNet site. [September 2014, p. 62]
