    A brilliant comeback for the GTA franchise, with a massive map, new characters (as well as the odd cameo), fantastic script. This game leaves you with so much to do, so much to explore and you can spend hours and hours on this game having all the fun you want!

    I'm an expert player and i play almost any genre out there and after playing the gtaV really A LOT, i can say it's a new masterpiece of the serie. Single player is superb, with beautiful acting and characters that you will love, improved game mechanics, the best graphic you will get on PS3 (natural and artificial lighting is just wonderful... astonishing sunsets and the city by night isI'm an expert player and i play almost any genre out there and after playing the gtaV really A LOT, i can say it's a new masterpiece of the serie. Single player is superb, with beautiful acting and characters that you will love, improved game mechanics, the best graphic you will get on PS3 (natural and artificial lighting is just wonderful... astonishing sunsets and the city by night is just beautiful) and an enormous living world.     I was skeptical about this game as I've grown tired of the open world format these days. However, I received the game as a gift and was happily surprised! Improved graphics, more control over how heists are done. Deeper characters that you can switch between at anytime even during missions.     GTA V is everything you could want and more in a game. Rockstar have delivered the ultimate sandbox experience! It more than lives up to the hype and as such is without doubt is utterly unmissable. The game was arguably the most anticipated off all time and as soon as the action starts you'll know straight away that you are in for something extraordinary. Baring in mind the next gen consoles are fast approaching, this is the last hurrah on the current gen and it's one that you will savour for many years to come. GTA IV at the time was regarded as one of, if not the, greatest game but for me GTA V eclipses it's predecessor. Ditching the dark and gloomy Libery City in favour of the rich, classy, vibrancy of Los Santos, GTA V isn't just better than IV but so much bigger and beautiful. Infact, it's colossal! But what's so impressive is how detailed every last component is. The possibilities are literally endless. It's so open that you will never struggle for something to do. That's the beauty of GTA! The characters Rockstar create are always awesome, Niko was and is still a much loved creation but the ever innovative guys behind GTA have gone even bolder and braver and given is the luxury of 3 lead characters. And all 3 are amazing! Each to their own they have their own personalities but when they come together it's simply sensational. Trevor Phillips is possibly the greatest video game character ever made. Steven Ogg is outstanding in his stellar portrayal. He's an aggressive, rude, crude, violent, egotistic psychopath but absolutely hilarious from his introduction. The other playable characters are Michael and Franklin. Both, particularly Michael are excellent, are good but not quite Trevor, who i'm sure will be remembered for years to come. The gameplay is has refined and tweaked and despite some minor gripes the epic and exhilariating fun that is here to be had it's impossible not to overlook them and just become engrossed in such an exceptional experience. The driving aspect is one key area where there has been an overwhelming improvement. It was frustrating last time out but this time round it's enjoyable and the simplicity of it means going for a spin was never more relaxing. Then single player focuses mainly on heists and how all 3 main characters intertwine with one another which produces some truly magnificent missions to be had as you explore Los Santos to it's bare bones. The set pieces are stunning throughout and often leave you in awe. What's also genius is the way the characters interchange, being able to change between the 3 leads is brilliant and the it's always brilliant to see what scenario your character is when you change from one to another. To top it all off, GTA Online is now available and the problems have been addressed. They've even added some funs out of generosity! Online is going to better and bigger. It's a certainty! And you have to remember that it's in it's early stages and that makes it even more intriguing and impressive. The opportunities Rockstar will supply everybody online with is very much a fantastic prospect. Create your character, join a clan, play with some mates, do some missions.. You'll never run out of things to do!

    All in all GTA V is just an unbelievable package. Rockstar have once again delivered the essential game and presented the current generation consoles with one of the greatest games of all time! It's epic fun. With endless possibilties ranging from the gigantic world of Los Santos, the incredible story, 3 genius and enthralling characters, a great and an ever expanding online mode...     They should call this game a tale of two cities. It's the best of times, it's the worst of times. From a technological visual design the game is absolutely amazing. The characters are all memorable and have some great dialog. Now the bad teleporting bad guys and cops. It's so bad that I've turned off the console on numerous occasions. I came across a scene where a drug deal or some such event went down poorly and there were bodies everywhere. I found a case of money picked it up and looked around for any threats. Nothing. I drove to the bottom of the hill, got out of my car and two guys teleported in on motorcycles and killed me. This is truly not fun. The other thing is the cops. You get a wanted star for even the most minor infraction (e.g. kicking a car). The cops then teleport in and their cars are faster than yours and nearly impossible to P.I.T.T. Another example, I lost the cops found a spot hidden in the rocks under an overhang and ducked down. 10 seconds later, two cops showed up and wasted me. Their accuracy is amazing. Gone is the ability to just mess around. Anything you do gets the cops on you and that is fun the first bunch of times, but wears incredibly thin.… Expand

    You know that feeling you get... that sad feeling you get when Christmas day is over and you realize that the day you've anticipated for so long has come and gone? That's how I felt when the credits started rolling when I completed GTA 5. This is actually the first GTA I've played. Yes, there are shocking moments, but this game is a masterpiece. It's my guilty pleasure for sure. These make a player feel like he is being shown a game he doesn't have any possibility to change, which is the intention you buy a sandbox game with.
    The plot is well written and linear. That is a plus since you really went to play a big game like this without leaving anything back. The only characters that stands out is Trevor, while Franklin and Michael feel cliché. The overall 'decading age' feeling is very well portrayed and represents modern society in a great way.
    GTA V is fun, big, and breathtaking. Just be aware that the low interaction between what you do and what you are told makes everything less personal.    … Expand

    Buy or Rent?

    If you only want to experience the bare minimum the game has to offer, then rent. It will still take a solid 20 hours to beat, even if you rush the main story. The thing is, the main story is not where the game really shines (it is but it isn't), the "real" enjoyment of the game (IMO) is in the ambient world. It is fully alive with everyday activities and things going on around you. Ever stopped outside the skyscraper downtown to hear a lawyer to complain about his client on the cell? Epic stuff.

    What I did not expect was a game to exceed the hype and create a game so large in scale that it creates a new standard for all open world games.
    The game focuses on three protagonists. Trevor. Michael and Franklin.
    Each of whom have different backgrounds and life situations. Who all stories intertwine and become a trio of anti-heroes who organise bank heists.
    Without delving too much into the characters. Rockstar do a fantastic job creating a basic prologue of each character do make each of them mildly interesting to the player.
    The interchangeable players is a nice touch. But this sacrifices deep storytelling of a single lead character.
    A small irk though. Graphically it is amazing. Among the best realism on the current gen. The simple control's stay true to the traditional style. Set in a reimagined Los Santos and Blaine County. This visual masterpiece is this franchise best release since San Andreas on PS2.
    My only problems with this game. Reused dialogue. Lack of in depth character development and at times it feels a little lacklustre but that is few and far and between.
    On the upside Missions are fun. The Chemistry between Micheal and Trevor is hilarious. There is always something to do.

    Fun in all Senses, this masterpiece guide you to the life of 3 different kind of people to accomplish something together, is really funny how the interact with everything in this gorgeous world, tons os things to do, excellent main missions and a really good on-line companion to add more fun, perfect 10 for me

    One of the best game I've ever played, with a huge world which offers days of gametime. The story is good and the character design is fantastic. Only issue is the Multiplayer, which is chaotic and at times difficult to navigate. Worth getting solely for single player though.

GTA Online is horribly boring (I'm completely ignoring the ongoing technical issues, I've been able to play online a few times this past week). After playing my favorite game this gen, the last of us, i realized that Gta v's story is very predictable and seemed oddly put together (with the number of heists and over exaggerated drama). The story that rockstar had with Gta v felt new but soon declined and made you lose that little bit of accomplishment you had playing through the start of the game. I still think that the lifeinvader mission to be this games' most memorable mission. The ending portion of the game seemed to be much more serious then the rest.. You have three outcomes to choose from for the ending (i won't spoil it) and all three endings felt very lackluster and made me say... Really? All of them felt like put together cliches and it felt really rushed compared to the whole premise of the story. Even the "good ending" tries to make light of the whole situation by making some hard advances on really uncanny and unfunny jokes to take away from the seriousness of the atmosphere, which i didn't like. Don't get me wrong i loved the humor in gta v and found myself laughing my ass off but the endings struck a nerve for me. Honestly take a minute and ask yourselves. Is the fifth installment to GTA, a better or on par storyline, with San Andreas (which is still my favourite GTA)? Of course not. San Andreas wasn't cliche, repetitive and drawn out. San andreas had some extraordinary twists that made you excited, the twists were extraordinary and unpredictable and it actually pulled you into the heart of the characters in it. This game really didn't capture and mesmerize me that much and the characters seemed to be unlikable. That being said the characters personified what GTA was really about, so i looked past my views on the characters. Great game overall, disappointed with the climax and execution of the storyline. I find that gta v is a respectable 8 or a 9. Good job rockstar!… Expand

With a more vibrant colorful boost up from GTA IV, more diversity of weapons and cheats, weapon customizations and the return of vehicle customizations that have been amped from the San Andreas predecessor, GTA V is a game for anyone willing to either go onGrand Theft Auto V, on all fronts, has finally met it's true potential as a rpg/shooter, finally blending the joys of both in tangent. With a more vibrant colorful boost up from GTA IV, more diversity of weapons and cheats, weapon customizations and the return of vehicle customizations that have been amped from the San Andreas predecessor, GTA V is a game for anyone willing to either go on a rampage or just soak in how alive the city feels, not only by the development of the buildings but also by the interactions of people that are just if not more dynamic than the interactions in Skyrim.

    Sure, GTAV faulted on it's GTA Online concept, but I'm glad that, despite that it was still a flop at launch, Rockstar actually had their head on a swivel enough to try to patch it as best as they could without expecting any sort of problems to be expected. For my experiences on the PS3 and in terms of Single Player, the Single Player has a lot to offer, with a 3-protagonist web that never interferes with the joys of gameplays, as each character get their own personal properties and garages to stack their items. The new introduction of the Heists is the highest selling point of this game, a new aspect that allow you to attack and diverge an operation in any sort of way you see fit, mostly in the prospect of benefiting the biggest payout to your main protagonists. The protagonists themselves also have their own situations and issues, being 3 diverse characters with their own prospects and woes. Points are slightly taken away for some of the disturbing imagery that comes about in the story mode, not to mention how the story mode loses a lot of gravity at the end and ends on a short note. The cheat system has returned to the combo mashing, which was somewhat of a pain since GTAIV had the phone dial up that made activating cheats easier, but I could see why they did return: You can make yourself invincible for 5 minutes. No fall damage, no bullet damage, no melee, explosion or fire damage. If one was able to just simply press the cheat at the end time, a person could make themselves invincible indefinitely. But anyhow, Cheat diversity has largely increased, with a lot more exciting cheats rather than the stock cheats. Weapons also have returned with a more satisfying arsenal, with stun guns, machine pistols, light machine guns and my favorite, the minigun. Also, these weapons can have modifications and tints to diversity your need for stopping power. Vehicles have increased in diversity, with even more exotic vehicles to test your limits. IN terms of the general area, Los Santos has a lot of callbacks to it's San Andreas counterpart, increased in size and moved some prominent areas, such as the Stadium and Grove Street. The river layout has become muchmore real and diverse, and Blaine County, serving as the secondary area, also is incredibly diverse with the first introduction of animal life in a GTA GAme since. (if you cant flying rats in GTAIV). This game, alone, is a fun ride that takes you on a new, grandiose tale through the american wastes of capitalism and egotism.    … Expand

The campaign is fun with plenty of interesting missions that add context to the impressive action and game play.     What I want to focus on in this review, however, is the single player of GTA5. Sure you can forget about campaign and only play online, which is a ton of fun if you got friends to play with you (I'm not saying you have to play with a friend though), but the campaign of this game... is incredible. It seemed normal that few people would ever beat the gta campaign (not me), but this convention might end with GTA5. Here you got so much content; its like Skyrim, where unlike other rpgs its all about multiple story lines. They are all interesting too; I will be honest I haven't progressed too much in the campaign because I was playing online, but in the first few missions I already had a lot of fun, the game becoming exciting or gripping or funny when it needs be, unlike older GTA titles where the awesome missions only appear after you are well progressed through the game. Characters in GTA5 are vibrant and alive. They might not make you really care about them as if they were your best friends, but they are definitely likable.
    Also like Skyrim you will be kind of "integrated" with the game as you will very likely be playing non-stop. Los Santos really is a place you can live in. GTA5 is a dam good game with its single player alone--since it also offers a multiplayer that is just as big and as deep, GTA5 really is one of the few games that you must play.    … Expand

    It was ok. Not great, not horrible, just ok. I guess I was expecting it to be as awesome as it had been hyped but I found myself kinda bored and not terribly pleased. The characters were way too one-dimensional, making them hard to relate to (unlike gta iv, red dead) and the story was basic. Driving wasn't bad but i got enough of it in gta iv. The yoga, tennis, etc. was ok but there was noIt was ok. Not great, not horrible, just ok. I guess I was expecting it to be as awesome as it had been hyped but I found myself kinda bored and not terribly pleased. The characters were way too one-dimensional, making them hard to relate to (unlike gta iv, red dead) and the story was basic. Driving wasn't bad but i got enough of it in gta iv.     Gta V's storyline will keep you interested until the end but still lacks in originality. Those last few side missions are also hard to find and can waste alot of time.

    I feel like GTA V is solidly okay, without living up to the immense hype it is flawed in some areas, especially the driving, and the characters feel very under-developed and one-dimensional, but the landscape is pretty and there is a lot to do in the game's big world.

The gameplay is solid and a good improvement from GTA 4 but im sorry but the story and characters are truly poor, Michael somehow manages to be more boring than the silent protagonist form GTA 3 which is an achievement in itself and i know everyone loves Trevor but i don't agree, yes he is funny but itAs a game this is good don't get me wrong is great but for a GTA i feel it is lacking. The gameplay is solid and a good improvement from GTA 4 but im sorry but the story and characters are truly poor, Michael somehow manages to be more boring than the silent protagonist form GTA 3 which is an achievement in itself and i know everyone loves Trevor but i don't agree, yes he is funny but it just gets a bit weird. I found myself bored by most of the missions as a large number of them were pointless as i do not care about Michaels family and do not want to interact with them, what you mostly do is favours rather than jobs so you dont actually get paid which is very annoying.Why were there not more heists....heists were the most interesting missions... they made a big thing about planning your own heists, in the end you do about 5 and only get to plan about 3, why would they not include more rather than having you drive around with Michaels annoying Jonah Hill of a son. In summary the boring pointless story means that is the worst GTA of the 3D and HD era. But is saved by good gameplay, map and good side missions and extra activities.… Expand

I was blown away when I finally played it and when I finished the story mode, I had logged 50 hours into the game. Lets start off by saying this game has copious amounts more variety thrown into it compared to the last instalment of GTA IV. WhileThis game has it all. While Grand Theft Auto IV is an amazing game, it is true that it did not as much to do while not performing missions. GTA V has definitely made you have the sheer amount of joy you experienced in San Andreas by briniging in so much tasks to do while not on the story. This game is amazing and is well worth the $60-80 dollar price range. 10/10.… Expand

    This is easily one of the best games I've ever played. With the exception of a few technical hiccups, this is a near perfect game that's a joy to watch, play and experience. Throughout the entire single player I was never bored. Every mission is different from the last and there is just so much fun to be had. The story is also decent along with some memorable characters over the top dialogue and action sequences. After the rather beefy campaign you still have tons of side missions, 100%ing story missions, purchasing property, free roaming and... oh yeah online, which could honestly last you forever. This game is jam-packed with non-stop fun content which will just leave you wanting more. I can easily say this is my favorite game this console generation, surpassing previous favorites like Uncharted 2, inFamous 2, Rayman Origins, and the Last of Us. I just can't stress enough how much fun I had playing this game, and the fun has only just begun. After beating the single player I hopped over to multiplayer with my buddies and it's just a blast. I still have to complete all those single player side missions as well. This game will keep me busy for months to come and is the BEST game this generation and the best sandbox game of all time.… Expand

    I've been waiting for this game since the 2nd trailer came out. A lot of possible outcomes came into mind whether it would turn out to be the worst of the GTA games or the best of them all. In my opinion, this is the best GTA of the series and the most ambitious. So much detail was put in the game and that devotion warrants a recognition. GTA kept a humorous tone in the narrative whileI've been waiting for this game since the 2nd trailer came out. The only two things that really took me out of the experience were one the story, which has its moments but ultimately falls flat compared to Red Dead or L.A. Noire. It's not the story was bad or that the missions weren't fun, it just failed to hit me on the emotional level that those two games did. Secondly, is GTA Online. Again, it's not bad it just got really boring really fast and didn't keep me addicted and coming back the way that Red Dead's online did. Still GTA V is an absolutely phenomenal game when looked at as a whole and will definitely will be remembered for years to come!… Expand

    This game is among my top ten games of all time. Inifinte out of ten if it was an possible. Truly an original masterpiece exceeds the typical gamers' expectations. Better than the fourth GTA. A great experience on the PS3 while the xbox port is dumb.

    The game has all the elements of brilliance, from the fantastic heist setups, voice acting, driving, action/gun mechanics, cut scenes etc, it continues to deliver awesomeness from start to finish. But despite all that, the one thing which constantly stood out beyond all that, was Los Santos/San Andreas itself....essentially - mammoth! And most critically, mammothly detailed and unique! Going on 70hrs+ playing the game, I was still discovering brand new areas. Little nooks in the hills with houses, vineyards, factories, crazy people etc. There is just so much depth to the "GTA 5 World", it surpasses anything any game has ever tried to do beforehand. And it's a step above other big map games (ala Just Cause 2), because it isn't just copy+paste landscapes....every location is unique and it's clear the game designers have spent a lot of time making this right.

    If I had to choose any downside to the game, it's probably only that some side missions are insanely time-consuming for little benefit (aside from trophies) - i.e. Spaceship Parts, Letter Scraps etc. But even then, they give you an opportunity to do some more exploring.

    I'll be sad to leave Michael, Franklin and Trevor behind...    … Expand

    While the game didn't live up to it's hype, it still turned out to be a pretty good game overall. Nice graphics, good voice acting and the GTA gameplay we all know. Violent, gruesome and over the top, of course, but it wouldn't be GTA without it. If you are a fan of the series I don't think you will be let down, just don't expect the greatest game of all time. Worth your time and money.

    Another GTA game by R* where they continue to show off their craftsmanship, which they've been honing for pretty much 15 years. It's a quality product like you'd expect hindered by a weird decision to include three playable characters, which doesn't necessarily help its narrative.

    Not as good as I expected. There is plenty of stuff in this game that I truly hate. Single player is kinda limited in open world approach. Heists could have been better. The Online is utterly horrible thanks to trolls and limited mission count. Other than that, everything's fine. Just try to get it. I don't say GTA V is bad. It's a great game, but GTA SA is better to me

    This game is a technical masterpiece. It has got the best storyline in the history of GTAs. The three characters are awesome together. Only bad thing is the Stunt Jumps. Those are a pain in the ass. Way too hard. Since that is not required (At least not all 50) in perfecting (100%) the game I do not count that as a huge bad thing. Still a 10/10.

    GTA V is what GTA should be all about freedom, options, and expansiveness. With a cast of colourful and interesting characters, GTA V is humorous, detailed, and beautiful. The new in-game world has truly revolutionised open-world exploration and game-play, and the character switching feature is absolutely marvellous.

    GTA V is a technical achievement for open-world games. How they managed to cram all that detail into an open-world game, on two current-gen consoles approaching 8 years old just boggles my mind. The draw distance itself is all you need to see to realize what this game shows in it's technical heights. The story shows us not one, but three main protagonists, all with their own unique abilities, which makes roaming the vast map given to you a different adventure with each character. The missions all have variety, so it'll never feel like you're doing the same thing twice, even though you are on the rare occasion. The autosave functionality is great, and mission checkpoints are now (as I've heard) improved from previous games. The best new additions are easily the new Heists. These are big missions you pull off, which can be taken in two different ways (usually either loud and dumb or more undercover and smart), which allows you to play the heist from two different approaches. These are also the only real effective way to make income in the game, but the final heist will pay off, no doubt.

    GTA Online is also a great achievement. It manages to retain the freedom and choice of the open-world in GTA V and translate that into the online world in near-mint condition. Running around and holding up stores, putting the pedal to the metal in races, shooting out in deathmatches, getting into a deadly 5-star chases with the police, attempting to grab yourselves a jet from Fort Zancudo, just messing around in the open-world, and even just relaxing in your apartments are a ton of fun, and as is with most multiplayer games, GTA Online is best played with a headset and a group of friends. All the important major bugs are a thing of the past now, and once you get into it, it's a great game. And it's only going to get better with the content creator, heists, and more all coming for free in updates. A few technical hiccups and bad design choices are all that keep GTA Online from being the perfect online experience. GTA Online alone feels worth the asking price of £40 £50.

    Overall, I wouldn't call this game the best game ever (and that's probably just down to my personal favorite game genres), but it is without a doubt a nominee for Game of the Year, and even Game of the Decade. If you even remotely like open-world games, this will be a delight to sink your teeth into.    … Expand

But as i went further in the story, I wanted to know what's next and thats the only thing why i finished this game. Imagine become true mafia boss, hire bodyguards and drivers, protect your business, deliver drugs, guns and so on, AFTER THE GAME IS FINISH, so you can keep playing and do stuff after main story is finish. That thing that missing in all games today is their "lifetime". Also i think this game must come to PC, because that players should not be withhold. Overral GTA is good game that suffers from focusing too much on trying to give quantity rather than quality in some of most explicit ways possible (you can even golf). The cut scenes are superb, the voice acting, the city, everything was just detailed. Rockstar really stepped up their game with GTA V. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, what are you waiting for?!

    In GTA V, you play as 3 different characters, a first for the series (unless you count the multiple characters from GTA 1). There's Michael, an ex criminal who is living out his days with a wife who hates (and cheats) him, and kids who don't see him as a father figure, and barely even know him. Then there's Trevor, Michael's old partner in crime, who at first seems outright insane, but slowly reveals a deeper personality past all of the brutality. Finally, there's Franklin, a guy who works a low-paying job repossessing vehicles while dreaming of becoming a master criminal, breaking the vaults of the biggest banks. Each character has their own unique personality traits, and despite what most reviews say of this game, I grew attached to Michael and Trevor over the course of the storyline. Franklin, however, seems to take a back seat, being used as a means to push the story forward instead of adding a lot of input. That's not to say he isn't a good character, he just seems a lot less developed than the other two guys.

    The game starts of with a botched job. You play as Michael and Trevor, making their escape after a big heist. This serves as a tutorial mission, introducing you to the shooting and cover mechanics of the game, which have drastically improved over GTA IV. The soft lock is still too forgiving, so if you're looking for more of a challenge, turn it off, but other than that minor gripe, the game plays just like Max Payne 3, flawless aiming and all. After a short shootout with police, Michael is shot and Trevor manages to escape. Fast foward years later, and you are in Franklin's shoes, going about his daily life. It doesn't take long for Trevor and Michael to be reintroduced, leading to all three teaming up to take on dangerous, well-paying heists. This game barely has a concrete plot, instead playing out like a TV show, where character interactions override most of the narrative connecting them all together. This is a minor problem, since half of the missions seem to have no real direction, instead being just random jobs here and there. After the real plot is revealed, the game starts to pick up, but until then, it just feels like a whole lot of nothing.

    Mission structure has changed. A lot. There is a checkpoint system in place now, and it is a little too forgiving. The checkpoints are placed way too close to eachother, and if you die more than 3 times, you are given the option to skip a section of the mission and move on to the next segment. Add that to the fact that the game is just too easy to begin with, and there is no real difficulty, making the missions seem a little more like chores to get to the next cutscene. The mission variety is great, thanks to the character swapping mechanic, so the actual missions feel pretty diverse, but, again, difficulty really makes a lot of them feel underwhelming.

    The addition of heists doesn't really reach full potential either. Instead of open-ended missions, you get to choose between stealthy or action based approaches. After selecting one or the other, you have to go on a few scavenging missions to get all of the equipment you need to complete the heist. They are very, very short, which makes half of the missions seem like nothing. The heist itself is usually very linear, where you either start out unnoticed and then it turns into a shootout, or its just a shootout every time. They're okay for what they are, but they could have been so much more.

    Graphically, GTA V is amazing for console standards. Great character models, damage modeling on vehicles, animations, environments, objects, everything. It all look very well done. There is, of course, pop-in and framerate drops, but they don't seriously impact the game (though, sometimes you can die from pop-in if you are flying too fast and a tree hasn't loaded yet). The excellent graphical direction makes the game come alive. The sound design is very, very well done as well. Great dialogue, voice acting, weapon sounds, you name it, its good. I personally didn't care for the radio stations too much, and the lack of custom music on PS3 is a major gripe, but its certainly doable.

    There's still so much to say, but I'm running out of room to say it. So, I'll leave it at this. GTA V is nowhere near a perfect game. It's an amazing one, but things like easy difficulty and story pacing bring it down just below the 10 mark. It's well worth the money, and I can't thank Rockstar enough for going back to the customization freedom we had with San Andreas. Man, I haven't even talked about Los Santos itself in this review! That's how big this game is! If you enjoy mature games (emphasis on mature) with great characters and action, GTA V is the game for you.    … Expand

    Game play is awesome, the car small things in the game are so well done. From holding up a shop to having a crazy free for all online the game is very well done. Only down side I found was the glitches when the game first came out but 3 updates later and the game play online and off line have vastly improved.

Rockstar have learnt a lot from red dead redemption which is good considering I did not like gta 4 myself.     I'll start with the single player. When I heard about having to play as 3 different characters and switching between them I felt like it'd be a hassle and didn't like the idea of it. After playing through the game though I can say I was wrong, I really liked all of the characters and actually started developing a connection for them.     Rockstar added a lot more depth to GTA V online mode in comparison to GTA IV. They basically took single player and turned it into a leveling/progression system. Level up and make money doing various jobs to unlock weapons/gear/customization/etc. As much as I do indeed like this, I would have liked to see another separate free mode that was just like GTA IV. Just to really goof around in from time to time.

    Overall it is indeed the game of the year, and a must buy for sure.    … Expand

    The best game of the generation in my opinion, the world is masive and diverse, the 3 different stories are so perfect, the heists,the prologue and the others 67 mission (69 in total) complete very good the history mode and GTA Online complete the GTA V experience.

You have the element of choice when you do missions by changing between the 3 characters. Heists are extremely fun too and you can plan them out. Very polished. Few glitches. Large amount of side activities to try including marathons, street races, yoga, golf, and tennis. These activities have surprisingly responsive controls and good physics. Interesting story. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are the most interesting characters in GTA history. An extreme attention to detail covers this game. An extremely large amount of customization to cars is available. The 3 characters also have a lot of clothes, haircuts and tattoos that can be applied to them. There are 3 alternate endings to the game, which adds a large amount of replay value. You can spend hours and hours on the single-player alone. They also fixed the cheat code system so that they are much easier to use and access. The online multiplayer has had issues at launch but they are not too annoying. The online component of the game allows much more customization of your own character. You can still freely explore the open-world and do every activity that the single-player has, but you can get a real challenge online. There are traditional team deathmatch gunfights that you can participate in, along with a variety of vehicle races. Both the single player and the online are truly great experiences. This game will only get better as they fix online issues and add more content, including huge story DLC packs.

    THE BAD: There are a few small issues. There are still a few occasional pop-in textures, but luckily they are not game-breaking like they were in GTAIV. While there is a lot of customization, it is still not as customizable as many games are in the Saints Row series. Online can occasionally be buggy, as sometimes AI-controlled vehicles and citizens act strange or can disappear completely.

    The final reason this gets an 8 instead of a 10 is the online portion. In the past, it was just free roam, but with other people. Now, it's an unbalanced online RPG. I join a game with 5 people in it 100 levels a head of me. This makes the online portion unfair. New players are greeted with a singular semi-auto pistol and a crappy sports car; and they have to go up against a guy wearing nothing but underwear and a pig mask who also happen to have 3 miniguns shoved up their arse, an infinite supply of the most expensive sports cars in the game, a money supply that could buy the country of Germany, and the worst of all, sticky bombs. The online portion is just completely unbalanced, especially the newer players.
    Those reasons and probably more to come are why this game gets an 8 out of 10.    … Expand

Online was done right this time and will have you ranking up, stacking cash, buying properties, and laughing at all the multiplayer mayhem that randomly ensues. Driving or picking up a family member, driving across the map, listening to annoying conversation, this stuff i wish i could skip, but there are a lot of these, and side missions take the cake in this. Its fine to do this once in a while to improve your driving, and where everything is on the map, to do this %75 of the game is bad in my opinion, it makes the good missions look like dessert after a horrible vegetable filled meal, there is just too many slow, boring missions. 2. Glitches. Normally i would never say this is a problem for a game, but when it freezes, or you are stuck in a wall, or taxi wont drive and your stuck in the back or when your car goes through the ground and you can re level, there was a lot of glitches, after many patches, they are mostly gone, but when i bought it new day of, these caused a lot of frustration. 3. The End, the ending was great, i love being able to have different endings, i dont like not knowing and spending a lot of money with one character on cars, upgrades and gun to be very disappointed to find out after that characters death so is the death of those cars. I mean yeah i shouldnt of killed that guy, or saved before hand, but i wish i could have access to his garage. 4. Incomplete. This isnt the end all best grand theft auto, its the prototype to it, with the many boring side missions, and same old same old stuff, it added enough new to make you feel like you are playing a new game, but end of the day you are not, this is just the prototype, a step to best grand theft auto game. 5. Online, if you come into this not %100, you will die...alot...and be poor. Its frustrating, if you are a player whose life is all put towards the online, then i hate you, those players just kill you and wait and kill you and wait, they enjoy being the bully, stealing your money, weapons and making you poor, the casual player will not enjoy this so they will go into the mode the will help you do just the missions but than you are taking away the online experience than.     I don't see how anyone can give a negative review on this one... GTA V is simply the best of all put into one. Even if you do finish100% of the campaign you'll still have a beautiful open world game to play. Gameplay is better than it's ever been and the amount of stuff you can do it's so massive it deserves an essay. Thanks rockstar!

    Dont listen when people say that this game is "overhyped". This game is simple incredible. The map, the gameplay, characters, the....everything.

    Disregard the people giving bad scores for the buggy online (which was fixed) or that its not out for pc yet, or that it is only for current gen consols.

    This game is so fun and hilarious. Graphic are very realistic and the environments: city, forest, desert, and the city are very eye pleasing. I love the 3 main playable characters and hope R* will keep this for future GTA installments. This game isn't about beating and encouraging abuse towards females like its being accused of. After the main story is done there are plenty of side quests and activities to do.
    The online mode is great but I wish character creater was better with more customization options. I know the main story area had less buildings to enter because they were saved for the online mode.    … Expand

    It was okay. My problem was with the seemingly ruined driving mechanics. I'm not sure if it was just me, but it feels like they dumbed down the driving a LOT, leading to a rather boring experience in what used to be the centerpiece of the game. Even just going around and blowing things up became rather boring, especially without tons of money to buy the higher-tier items. In reality,It was okay. In reality, it's a ton of different things all done in a rather mediocre fashion. Also, it just felt... empty. It's an odd thing to feel in a GTA game but I felt closer to others playing DayZ than I did playing this game. They tried too much and due to the hideous technological constraints of such old and dated hardware they couldn't do what they should have been able to.

    As for multiplayer, you can get considerably more fun on a scale that is literally exponentially larger (2000+ players on a map that's several times larger) for under $10 with the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod.

    Frankly I played it on the last gen consoles and I don't care to see it come to PC, and I feel like not many others will, either. GTA IV was the best, hands down. Was just okay at best. Who knows, though, if they do more than port the game and decide to exploit the power of the PC platform maybe the game will live up to its full potential.    … Expand

    Okay now that I finished the game I will give my review on it. This is 10 times better than GTA 4. I felt like Rockstar learned their lesson and they made this game turned out to be really awesome. I loved the idea of switching characters and each of them having their own story. But here are my downsides. The ending was a little rubbish. Could've been better but its still a good ending andOkay now that I finished the game I will give my review on it.     This game is just awesome! It is like Read Dead Redemption in many ways, but for me it is more funny, there are so many things to do, map is so huge and so varied. All three characters are fine. Ok, I hate Trevor!

    Ok I doubted the idea of having 3 main characters to play as but after playing it when it came out it seemed to work perfectly. The gameplay is very good, the graphics are great, Attention to Detail is just breathtaking and GTA Online is fairly good now as well. This is definitely a lot better than GTA 4 in my opinion and was certainly one of the best games of 2013

    Perfect Game. Fun, open, hilarious, enough said.

    I have played every Grand theft auto game and this is the most brilliant and open game ever created. This game is amazingly fun and should me a model to others on how to make a game.

    Simply put, this game is awesome because of its likeable characters, fun gameplay mechanics, the over the top campaign, the amazing graphics, and the variety of guns and vehicles.

    Would have rated this higher if it wasn't for the bug-ridden multiplayer. If it was just based on singleplayer I would give it an 8/10 maybe 9/10 but I can't ignore the multiplayer.

    Single player - 8.5/10 The story is fun and the characters interesting. The world is massive but it's lacking something, it's too big.     Bug-ridden, terrible launch, characters lost in the cloud, countless people hacking giving themselves and many others millions of dollars. Dying was a big problem, especially when you are trying to save, you would just lose thousands and slowly get back to square one. Rockstar intended multiplayer to be played for months, slowly getting enough money together to buy an apartment but all of that became pointless when people started hacking. Not enough to do, many of the races are the same generic bland. Rockstar promised so much with the multiplayer and didn't deliver. God awful.    … Expand

    If you want a game where you're unbound by the rules of the society with a sh*t load of money, guns, fast cars, planes and boats, this is the best you're going to get at the moment. You're literally thrown into one of the biggest video game maps and given the freedom to do whatever you want. The story itself is really interesting and the missions are just pure gold. The only complaint I have is that I could play through the game quite fast, but there are lot of side missions to do after that. The controls are almost perfect, responsive and make the gameplay fast, smooth and thrilling at times. Even though the consoles are really old, GTA V somehow manages to pull out power to make this game really beautiful. The only thing I have to complain is that once you've done pretty much everything, you have to make your own fun because the game doesn't offer anything interesting.

    Overall, it's one of the best games of this generation but don't expect the fun to last after you've done everything there's to do.    … Expand

    What can I say about GTA that has not already been said, It has a giant open world with tones of stuff to do, 3 characters that Trever is the best and more activities then any other rockstar game out there, if you have not played this or think it is bad there is something wrong with you, pick it put and play it, you will not regret it

    People please stop rating the game before completing the story! That's like righting a review for a movie or book before it's finished, it just doesn't make sense and isn't fair to the story.

    To be honest I feel like this game is a taaaaaaad overrated, but still a fantastic game. What else do you expect from GTA?
    The only cons for me:
    -Although there is a lot to do, some of those things aren't that fun (parachuting, rampage missions, ect), but again, this is in MY opinion. -Characters are either love or hate, and to be honest, I hated Trevor and Michael, and loved Franklin.     This is the best game i've ever played. Graphics are awesome and the story is wonderful.
    Online is very fun to play with friends. All the tiny things and details are awesome as well as secrets and easter eggs!

    Gigantic and stupidly detailed, GTA V is everything we hoped it would be. Individual components could be a touch better, but when a game does literally everything, nobody can expect perfection across the board. That it even comes close is incredible. [Issue#236, p.62]
