    Very average remake of a classic FPS shooter on tropical islands. I remember this game looked so good back in 2004, but this HD remake actually looks worse in many ways. It suffers from a frame drops, AI glitches and bugs, terrain is just rising from the ground as you run towards it, and water is something i would call a mess of colors and textures.     The game is nearly unplayable. Although, one does have to take into account the age of the game itself and the way games were designed back when they were not mainstream. They were tough; requiring skill, memorization, perseverance, and some luck. The AI is smart, and will shoot the instant they see you. It's annoying being prone and stealthy in this game, especially since it's    Gameplay:

They were tough; requiring skill, memorization, perseverance, and some luck. The AI is smart, and will shoot the instant they see you. It's annoying being prone and stealthy in this game, especially since it's useless. The enemy can spot you from a mile away, and that is no exaggeration. They can also inexplicably hit you with an automatic rifle from a mile away, even if you are covered by bushes. It's absolutely rediculous and frustrating. The driving mechanics are horrendous. It's more efficient to walk than even attempt to control a vehicle. In short, the entire game's control scheme is awkward. This game is definitely challenging, but it will frustrate you like no other game has.

    Story:
    The story is lackluster. There's little to no character development for any characters, the plot is cliché and predictable. However, you can't expect much from such an old title. Be warned: Do not expect a brilliant storyline.

    Graphics:
    Back in 2004, Far Cry set a milestone in visual quality. In 2014, not so much. Taking into account that it is a decade-old game, I didn't expect it to look mind-blowing. However, the carelessness of this "HD remake" is palpable. There is constant frame rate drops and graphical pop-in. Even the audio glitches out, forcing you to play a muted game on occasions.

    Verdict:
    I recommend that you do NOT purchase this game. Play the original on PC or wait until the game is on sale. This "remake" was rushed and poorly optimized. The game locked up my PS3 on FOUR separate occasions, forcing me to completely shut my console off. If you are a Far Cry 3 fan, do not purchase this game. It's a very different experience. If you are seeking a challenging FPS, this is your game. It's also good to explore older titles; it'll make you have an appreciation for modern video games.    … Expand

    Brought me back to the epic Far Cry original, renovated with HD scenes. I just love the Far Cry series. And playing this Far Cry refreshed my memories of old Far Cry. Great job Ubisoft!

I didnt expect this game to rock my world, graphically, but I at least expected it to run smoothely. 60 frames per second seemed like a no brainier, but instead we get sub 30fps. im not joking. the framerate is terrible. I also did not expect there to be such RAMPANT pop in textures and objects and unacceptable jaggies. literally,DO NOT BUY THIS. this so-called "HD remake" is godawful.     was ANY effort put into making this version look better than the original? at least with the horrible port of crysis 3, the devs had somewhat of an excuse for stability issues on consoles, but there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER that this TEN YEAR OLD game should be making my PS3 practically melt.

    oh, and gameplay wise the controls feel sluggish, with terrible deadzones. glitches, both gameplay and visual wise are rampant as well.

    this is, without a doubt, the worst "remaster" I have ever seen of an old game. no effort was put into it. no ****s were given. it suddenly makes sense why this game was so quickly announced and shoved onto PSN and xbox live. stay way. just download the original on PC. it will probably bec heaper and i promise that no matter how ghetto and outdated your rig is, it will decimate this abysmal port.    … Expand

    Ubisoft should really consider taking this remake out of the market! Or the makers of the original should sue them!
    I played through the first 5 minutes of the demo and I really couldn't stand it! The amazing opening menu (with the fly through of the farcry island in the background) of the original has been replaced with a dumb powerpoint like menu. And once you get into the game, I couldn't control my character for the first 15 seconds, frame rate drops, water looks like AOE2, and to top it all i was on an inflated boat and it moves like the coins on a chessboard. The point where I quit the game was when I shot a dude with a P90 , for which he went flying like 5 RPGs hit him. Its painstakingly hilarious that i regret downloading the trial from PSN in the first place. It was 2.5 gigs :(    … Expand

    i did not play the original far cry. i did play fc3 and loved it. i tried fc2 and was unimpressed with all the driving and map reading. it was okay, but it didn't seem nearly as fun as fc3. i was skeptical about downloading fc classic, but i did anyway. for the life of me i cannot see how this wasn't well received by some. this game was an absolute blast. i can't wait for ubi to doi did not play the original far cry. i did play fc3 and loved it. i tried fc2 and was unimpressed with all the driving and map reading. it was okay, but it didn't seem nearly as fun as fc3. i was skeptical about downloading fc classic, but i did anyway. for the life of me i cannot see how this wasn't well received by some. this game was an absolute blast. i can't wait for ubi to do a fc4. i am not a ubi shill btw. i do not like all their stuff, but they have made quite a few good games. this one is cheap, hell i can't remember but maybe 10 or 15 dollar download on ps. i know each to his own and people vary, but for god's sake this game was fun as hell for me. don't always believe the reviews.… Expand

    But It, It gives old school feeling that I was 10 years old and hardly forgettable. Really nice landscapes.
    If they used the same code base, it is a wonderful job to make it working on PS3.
    Original Game used 500-600 MBs of RAM, I wonder how they have managed in just 256 RAM.

    The controls feel horrible compared to more modern console shooters and are absolutely atrocious compared to the PC version, it just isn't satisfying to play.
    Then there's the fact that it runs in 720p with less than 30fps, my computer back in 2004 could do better than that and any new PC will max it out giving you a    If you haven't played FarCry yet, then this isn't the edition for you.

    I've developed for the PS3 myself and I can attest to what adriottech is said. If this is the same old engine that has been re-factored then it's an impressive feat. With release price of 10$ I'm guessing it was done by a small team to keep costs low.
    And it's not even just about the low 256MB RAM on the PS3. Back in 2004 games were made to run on a single processor core.     And it's not even just about the low 256MB RAM on the PS3. Back in 2004 games were made to run on a single processor core. The PS3 on the other hand is vastly different, with its "cell" multi-core microprocessor architecture and expects games to be designed in the modern multithreaded fashion.

    Maybe I'm just biased; it reminds of the old times and they've kept the changes to a minimum. So I'm giving it an 8. I just wish they retained the multiplayer mode :)    … Expand

    awful port of great game
    frame drops - game runs 30fps whit lots of frame drops and stuttering
    system freezes - be ready to your ps3 system freeze during a play and only way trough is onoff
    glitchy trophys - sometimes trophy just dont count

    what a shame ubisoft, again

    - Game runs at a Max of 30 FPS with 2004 graphics, here you can tell they were lazy and this game was a cash grab for far cry console fans
    - There are texture pop ins with 2004 graphics, you gotta be kidding me?

    - Complete lackluster:
    - No character development
    - Total cliche and predictable

    -This game in the end is just a simple cash - grab and nothing else...Its better to get a PC from 2004 and play the original far cry on that

    Nada de espetacular!!!um jogo mediano...bom passa tempo...nada mais do que isso...não considero um jogo ruim mas também passa longe de ser um ótimo jogo...apenas um jogo mediano.

The game is great,but the story have some strange things like how in the hell the main character survived the helicopter fall when he was kicked off and fall over 200 or more meters without a scratch and ironically he say's "Thanks"...like WTF?!Also the game freezes about 10 or more times during gameplay, forcing me to manually shut down the PS3,and jf you halfway a mission,it is getting very frustThe Graphics are good,combat and weapons variety is on top level.Sound effects are very impressive,but some times they are missing,like when you push a button or take a medkit for instance.Overall i had a great experience playing the game.I recommend you to play it,but avoid the PS3 version,if you have a good PC.I would give it a score of 8 but the freezing issues made it to give it a lower score.Shame that Ubisof did not patch the freezing issues.

    My fricking issue with this game:
    1.) "Remastered" game with purely terrible graphics.
    2.) Some Textures suddenly disappeared to the game while moving.
    2.) Worst Controller Input Lag imaginable. Way worse than Rockstar's GTA 4 on PS3.
    3.) The same pinpoint-accurate Easy enemies from the PC version and can spot you more than a half-mile away. Just like Sniper Elite 2 & 3.
    4.) Stupidest Trophy Implementation ever made. Why go into the war zone with no weapons and go full gung-ho until the next level? Do not die while the gate to the next level is being unlocked alongside with the most pinpoint-accurate Enemies ganging up on you? Are you fcking kidding me? I rather play Grounded Mode on The Last of Us than this bullcrap.

    o jogo continua a mesma bosta, a gameplay é mediana e os graficos são medianos também, o checkpoint é colocado onde você morre e isso é irritante, você toma tiro de inimigos que não consegue ver, além disso a mira não gruda no inimigo, isso é um erro já que no ps3 não existe mouse, e o que eu acho o pior de tudo, os loadings são demorados e a tela de pressionar start demora pra carregar eo jogo continua a mesma bosta, a gameplay é mediana e os graficos são medianos também, o checkpoint é colocado onde você morre e isso é irritante, você toma tiro de inimigos que não consegue ver, além disso a mira não gruda no inimigo, isso é um erro já que no ps3 não existe mouse, e o que eu acho o pior de tudo, os loadings são demorados e a tela de pressionar start demora pra carregar e quando o jogo salva também demora pra carregar( a tela chega a congelar durante gameplay) após essa Review o jogo travou duas vezes
