Duke Nukem's best adventure is back. This "Megaton Edition" gives us some touched up visuals, the return of the multiplayer, and 3 hard to get expansion packs. It's clear that this port was built from the ground up for the Vita though. While the cross-save feature is handy some technical deficiencies are sure to make playing on the PS3 your second choice.

    There's nothing really wrong

There's nothing really wrong with the single-player. Just a few odd glitches that the Vita doesn't have and the visuals aren't as impressive as on it's handheld sibling. None of these ruin what is otherwise an excellent single-player FPS, but why put up with them if you don't have to?

The real issue comes from the multiplayer. Not only are the trophies associated with it glitched, but matches are always incredibly laggy. It's hard to have fun with the online portion when the lag can get so bad everyone is booted out of the match seconds after it started. A patch is seriously needed here.

The Vita version suffers from the same issues multiplayer wise, but it doesn't really harm the experience as much considering that multiplayer on a portable system is most likely going to be your last resort. Even if you were willing to put up with the lag it most likely won't matter as many others aren't and it's already hard to find people online. Sadly the campaign co-op also suffers from lag.

While technical issues do weigh it down the extra content included here for the first time still makes it the definitive version of Duke Nukem 3D on home consoles. However while that is true there are still better ways to experience this "Megaton Edition." Still if the PS3 is your only option the content here is still awesome enough to warrant the purchase.

This is a wonderful game that let's us play the classic Duke Nukem and the add-ons with it. If you want to get into some good ol shooters this is a must have.

My total score for the PS3 version is a 7.5/10.

I remember playing the original Duke Nukem 3D with just a keyboard. Yeah, no mouse for looking up and down. That being said, I really want to tip my hat to Young-Me for being so tenuous. I didn't recall this game being so entertainingly difficult! I got sucked in to the game again with this re-release, and enjoyed every minute of the nostalgia trip.

    Sure, everything about the game

Sure, everything about the game screams "old", but that's not the point. Another thing that will keep younger generations from finishing the first level is that this game is considerably harder than any modern shooter. It requires some skill to play. I mean, when was the last time any of you had to "corner skip" to kill a normal enemy…

People lose sight of what's important about a game, this game is FUN, I've bought AAA titles and played them for less hours. I've played life's a beach through to the end and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Graphics: D*mn, you're ugly Sound: Let's rock! Atmosphere: Groovy! Plot: I'm Duke Nukem - and I'm coming to get the rest of you alien bastards! Fun: Hail to the king, baby! Fun, buy it

The only thing disappointing here is the peer-to-peer multiplayer which had no playerbase to begin with. It's impossible to platinum the game on PS3 because of that.

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is a solid collection for anyone still nostalgic for Duke’s brand of gory antics or those wanting to test their mettle against the corridor shooters of old.

Not nearly as good as you remember it. Shooters have come a long, long way since the days of The Duke. [March 2015, p78]

Level design is still exceptional; expansive with a real sense of place.
