You've got to hand it to City Interactive, no matter how crappy their games are, they just keep cranking them out. Mindless titles like Sniper and now Dogfight. During combat you'll have no problems feeling like an America Hero while blasting away the Japanese in WWII. The sound is good but unfortunately its very repetitive, very repetitive. After 15 minutes you'll be reaching for the mute button to shut up your crew. The graphics are good enough, I didn't really notice any popup or clipping and the plane models are surprisingly well done, even during combat the enemy planes look good. The game is short, the story sucks--even the opening movie is, for lack of a better term, stupid. I literally laughed out loud even though people were dying. I guess they thought this would be dramatic. Overall the game is fun in short bursts, if your looking for mindless flight combat then this is worth ten bucks but if your looking for a flight simulator then you better look elsewhere. The DLC is not worth the money but it does add more missions and planes, unfortunately they all feel the same, and look the same.
To sum it up, this is a short, low budget, average, arcade flight combat gamed that is three steps behind everyone else. I strongly suggest you try the demo before you spend your hard earned money.

Solid, but extremely repetitive. The game isn't all that buggy, and there's absolutely nothing gamebreaking about it. If you're looking for a pretty alright game where you're a pilot, dogfighting in 1942, then this game is pretty fun. Especially considering you're likely to pick it up for chump change in a bargain bin somewhere.

This game...is interesting. I've been playing games like Ace Combat and Blazing Angels for years, yet somehow I can't seem to get in this game. It's either too easy or too difficult. If I play on Normal, I take down the Germans and Japanese with no effort. But on hard, it's very frustrating. I haven't finished it, and I probably won't. It's not a bad game, ok? It's not a bad game, ok? But it seems that it's not suited for air combat vets like me. It's funny because I like any game about planes.

Anyway, this game isn't fun for me but can be fun for others. But honestly, you're better off playing Blazing Angels or Birds of Prey.

No, don't worry, you didn't miss the 1941 previous parts. Dogfight 1942 is an arcade flightsim set during the second World War. Unfortunately the missions are lacking variety. So you'd better let this one just fly by. [December 2012, p.92]
