    It HURTS for me to rate this game so low... The moment this game was announced my jaw hit the floor and I knew I had to buy it at launch... turns out I could have saved those money for something that was worth a damn cause this game is TERRIBLE! The combat is wonky with absolutely no balance put into it at all, the story mode is bland to the point where not even the makers of the gameIt HURTS for me to rate this game so low... The combat is wonky with absolutely no balance put into it at all, the story mode is bland to the point where not even the makers of the game remembered what they wanted it to be about, and the lamest and smallest roster in a fighting game with such a big pile of memorable characters.
    I really tried to like this game. I've been a Digimon Fan for about 10 years and I thought that this game would be the game that would finally bring the series back to being sold internationally... but I can't let my nostalgia blind me on how bad this game is. There's framerate issues in a FIGHTING game, the cards you collect are pointless as they only activate when an Attack Card is activated (which if you have one with a high number you will never lose) and if you really want to win this game you choose Impmon and fire your Badaboom till you win.
    Not to mention there's no alternate outfits in this game. So if you're playing a 4-player Match and someone is the same Digimon as you then you will constantly lose track of yourself. Not to mention the Battle Modes you can play are all worthless and terrible.
    I could go on for a long time on why I don't recommend this game to anyone but I think I've gotten my point across now. If you want to play a good Digimon game you should look no further than the World Series, Digimon Masters Online and Digimon Rumble Arena 1 and 2. Or if you get a chance to find a copy I seriously recommend Digimon Tamers: Battle Spirit Ver. 1.5 for the Wonderswan (though you might want to play that one with another friend which requires 2 copies and 2 Wonderswans).    … Expand

    For past years we were all have been waiting for a new DIGIMON game to come to US and EUROPE,BANDAI NAMCO didn't release PSP Digimon Adventure Game, nor PSP/3DS Decode outside of japan, and haven't said anything about new Cyber Sleuth release either. Instead they have decided to release Digimon All-Star Rumble for us "to test the waters", and see if there was enough market for these gamesFor past years we were all have been waiting for a new DIGIMON game to come to US and EUROPE,BANDAI NAMCO didn't release PSP Digimon Adventure Game, nor PSP/3DS Decode outside of japan, and haven't said anything about new Cyber Sleuth release either. And here we are a couple days before release date, some of us have been able to get a copy early and see how the game is.
    Here is what I’m going to say to BANDAI NAMCO: Next time don't bother.
    Why?
    Because selling **** won’t get you any profits.
    This game is bad. We've all been expecting Rumble Arena 1,2 style game with good and fun gameplay and solid graphics, but this game doesn’t have any **** thing, its simply bad, and here is why:
    Story mode.
    The story mode looks like Digimon World 4 game but without weapons, you control your Digimon and have the same move sets as in battle mode.
    You are going around fighting some "filler” Dgimon to complete level and fight one of the primary Digimon and at the end of story mode you get the second evolution for your Digimon.
    It sounds fantastic until you play it, the map design and very simple, like three to five useless chests and one trap across the map, a couple of "filler” Digimon with their respective mini-bosses, and a playable Digimon as a boss, with whom you speak, then battle and unlock him. And this torture repeats like 8 times over and over at different areas. The enemy AI is null, thee mini bosses Digimon have one attack that’s very easy to evade, but thanks to game being **** buggy it doesn’t work all the time. It also has ZERO exploration.
    The worst part of it is that you have to repeat this boring piece of **** for every Digimon that has an alternate evolution. By the time you complete this mode first time you already want to kill yourself, or better kill the **** Developers behind this abomination.
    Graphics:
    Very little to say here, animations are very bad, level design like on the worst of ps2 games, with invisible walls, textures are very low resolution and there are noticeable frame drops from time to time in story mode.
    The only Good thing are the Digimon 3D models in which developers at least put 2 days of work.
    Character roster:
    Developers said that they have listened to fans while making character roster: I think they listened to the Pokemon fans. Because who in his right **** mind will put ExVeemon, Wargrowlomon and ****ty Shoutomon variations as evolutions instead of l’ets say Alphamon, AeroVeedramon, Beelzemon etc.
    Battle mode: This mode is the STAR of the game. There are six different battle modes, when you see them for the first time you say: This game will be very fun to play!! Well it’s **** not.
    The modes are very bad made, and have ZERO inspiration in them, every mode tries to be Rumble Arena-like and fails at it miserably. It pain in the ass to even explain them. Go look them up on Google see for yourself how incredibly GOOD and FUN they are.
    Battle-System:
    The battle system is very bad designed and balanced even worse, when your Digimon receives a combo and it’s on the ground you enter invincible mode during which no one can touch you. When you stand back it goes away but if opponent stars combo before invincibility is over or while you still on the ground, the combo will almost always hit you and nothing will save you. Controlling the Digimon is also very bad, sometimes after a combo you want to turn and attack but the attack goes in opposite direction and it **** ups everything.
    To digivolve during battle you have to fill special meter and then after you digivolved you have to fill it again to make a special attack, the worst thing about it is when you have evolved its that you can’t see anywhere how much time you have left to dedigivolve and you start hitting with you opponents with all you’ve got to fill the **** special attack meter.
    Battle balance is very bad, there are some overpowered and underpowered Digimon. Take as example ExVeemon, it’s almost impossible to make a good combo using him, or Tentomon who will **** you up spamming electricity every two seconds. And even guard won’t save you.
    There is also Naruto style button, that teleports you to enemy back if you hit it at the right time, but it fails many times because you end up facing opposite direction of enemy. In this case you do quick turn and attack but it doesn’t work because quick turn has about one or two seconds delay and you star attacking the wrong way.
    To resume BANDAI NAMCO simply doesn’t give a single **** about Digimon games in US and EUROPE, this game with zero effort on their part perfectly tells us that.    … Expand

    This game is so good! Like come on you at least gotta enjoy it especially the story mode.Good job on the games, I really enjoyed it especially when i play with y little sister and she get's happy seeing Gatomon digivolve. Plus , the digivolutions are sooo cool ! :)

    You have no idea how BAD I wanted this game to be good.... I mean literally everything is bad, you name it. I'll at least say you might have fun in a local game (cuz no online) with friends riffing on it, so if you decide to buy it, for the love of god wait for a SALE!

Graphics look like PS2, Gameplay is worse than the original, technic is bad, the characters are unbalanced and story .... well, what Story? Altogether a bad game that should be bought on a big sale for a family or a couch coop night.I have played Digimon Rumble Arena in the past and I loved it.     Bringing attack cancelling, counter options and making each character unique in their own special way, this game would have been a sucess if it wasn't for the release date, that was near Super Smash Bros 4.

    With a simple story that has a few twists that you weren't expecting ( Play Guilmon's story to know what I'm talking about ) and interactions between diferent characters of the series makes it an enjoyable experience that becomes even better once you know how to get past those tricky wild digimon.

    The combat seems simple if you look at it superficially, but once you try to experiment with it you'll discover about attack cancelling, ways to defend yourself more efficiently and even counter digivolutions. Basically, combat seems very simple at first and then becomes this very deep way of fighting and planning as you play more and more with the game.

    The sound department isn't too shabby either, awesome pieces of original music that fit the stages and get stuck in your head more often than not. The voice acting is quite good as well, I was skeptic at first since there wasn't an option to get the original japanese voice cast but I was met with a pleasant suprise.

    Graphical wise the game looks pretty good for a ps3 game and captures the essence of Digimon quite well. Each local has it's unique visual feel to it and combine that with the detailed character models and you'll be enchanted with the game.

    Of course, the game has it's flaws. No online and making the A.I easier ( even on hard mode where it doesn't use the substition like jutsu or attack cancelling agaisnt you ) does hurt the game and it has a very chaotic ( but not fun ) feeling when you're up agaisnt a free for all match with 3 A.I players but the game compensates with a team battle mode and 6 unique battle modes that you can enjoy. If you have friends that enjoy this type of game or just digimon in general, you've just guaranteed tons and tons of hours of fun with them, but don't forget that the game is still fun on your own.

    In short, don't be discouraged by the negative reviews, I've been playing the game for 20+hours and I've been loving the experience, if you like Digimon and/or Fighting games this is the game for you.    … Expand

    As a child, I was a huge Digimon fanatic, and I always loved waking up every morning to watch "Digimon Adventure," "Digimon Adventure 2" and "Digimon Tamers." Though I started to drift away with "Digimon Frontier" and officially checked out by the time "Digimon Data Squad" premiered, I still had a soft spot in my heart for the series, not only because of the shows, but because of the twoAs a child, I was a huge Digimon fanatic, and I always loved waking up every morning to watch "Digimon Adventure," "Digimon Adventure 2" and "Digimon Tamers." Though I started to drift away with "Digimon Frontier" and officially checked out by the time "Digimon Data Squad" premiered, I still had a soft spot in my heart for the series, not only because of the shows, but because of the two "Digimon Rumble Arena" games. Both games were huge parts of my childhood and I played them with my brother very often. Though I no longer have access to "Digimon Rumble Arena 2," my brother, friends and I still play the first game every so often to relive the childhood memories. As soon as I heard that a new game in the style of "Rumble Arena" was being made, I knew I had to get it. Even though I knew the game wasn't going to be "spectacular," I had to at least give it a shot. Now that I've gotten through the story mode, I can say that "Digimon All-Star Rumble" is better than I expected (my brother made it out that the game would be awful), but it's still everything it's supposed to be.
    "Digimon All-Star Rumble" only had to be one thing: a cute, fun little fighting game featuring plenty of our favorite Digimon. To that degree, the game mostly succeeds. It's got a roster of some great Digimon (although there could've been a few more), some pretty solid visuals, and a fun burst of nostalgia. Getting to see characters like Agumon, Veemon and Guilmon on screen fighting each other gives me that nostalgic burst I was hoping it would have. Even if the combat is relatively "button-mashy," it's still pretty fun to play, and the Digivolutions are pretty cool to see.
    That said, the game isn't without its faults. For starters, why the hell aren't there cutscenes? How lazy could you get that the "cutscenes" at the beginning and end of the story are literally single pictures? Come on, now. Aside from that, though, the lack of online is unfortunate and while the platforming sections in the story mode are a nice touch, they can't help but feel overly derivative. In all honesty, I feel like I'm literally playing a repainted version of "Skylanders" featuring Digimon. Oh, and if you're expecting a deep, intricate fighter, this isn't it. In my experience with the previous "Digimon Rumble Arena" games, I found that "camping" can be a decent strategy in many cases, but this game takes it to new levels, as being in a 3D plain now gives you more room and freedom to run away.
    All things considered, "Digimon All-Star Rumble" is nothing more than an okay little fighting game that kids and hardcore Digimon fans should get some enjoyment out of. For anyone else, though, there are far more enticing options out there.

    I bought this game on sale on psn, I suggest anyone else do the same. It is definitely not worth full price. I didn't expect much out of this game when I bought it but I was still disappointed. Considering the last Digimon game I played was Digimon World for PSX the graphics were a little bit better. They moved up to PS2 graphics. The Battle mechanics are extremely clunky and the characters are unbalanced. I'm a longtime fan of Digimon and I enjoy many games that just cater to fans but this game couldn't even do that for me. If you want a fighting/brawl game, look somewhere else. If you want fan service? look somewhere else or like I said before wait for a sale.… Expand

I picked this game up hoping it would at least be playablely decent but it is not. Technically It is not up to par combat wise. Even for an easier fighting game. The controls are awful clunky and uninspired. The graphics are sub-par garbage.

    But what really hurt was hearing the voice acting. I know its a lot to ask for a fighting game to have a good solid voice acting, or even trying to get the original voices. It has some original voices, but some of them are so bad that I had to return the game immediately. It really hurts, it does. I couldn't take it. As a Digimon fan this game does not deserve high scores or even decent scores. It should be put in the stocks and have tomatoes thrown at it.

    It is not in depth do not let people lie to you. The reason it has one star is because it has SOME of the original voice cast, or an attempt to have them in game. This game is not worth twenty bucks. 3 -5 dollars? maybe 7 if pushing but the price is not worth it. DO not buy it unless you want to regret it.    … Expand

Everything about this fighter is phoned in; the battle system is a shallow attempt at a free-roaming fighting game that takes on the trappings of the Rumble series withoutEasily the weakest entry in the entire Rumble series, and one of the worst video games ever made. Where Rumble Arena was easy to play and hard to master, All-Star Rumble is obtuse, limited, and lacking in serious depth. Everything about this fighter is phoned in; the battle system is a shallow attempt at a free-roaming fighting game that takes on the trappings of the Rumble series without having any of the tight control or polish of its predecessors.

    The "depth" to the game involves finding all the infinite combos, infinite stuns, and perfect trapping maneuvers that the dev team clearly never did; it's designed so that whoever takes the lead first in multiplayer will maintain that lead for the entire game. Character movement is ambiguous and slow, making it hard to judge what you're doing at any given moment. The roster is small, and incredibly unbalanced. Shoutmon, Wormmon, and Impmon dominate in multiplayer, forming a unique triangle of strengths with little to no openings for the rest of the cast to sneak in. If you've been spoiled by good fighting games like Super Smash Bros. or SSFIV, you'll hate this game. If you've ever played a video game before, you'll hate this game. And if you've never so much as touched a video game before in your life, this will give you an exceedingly negative impression of the medium. $60 wasted to support a petition.

    The voice acting is cringeworthy, as is the generic soundtrack. One of the game's few redeeming qualities is the ability to use custom OST, giving you the ability to block out Bandai's Worst Hits with a flood of your choice Wada Kouji songs off a USB drive. The storyline consists of the same stages repeated for every character, with slightly tweaked boss fights, and a handful of cutscenes told in still images. Game balance is no better in single player than it is in multiplayer; single large enemies can often take out your character in just two or three hits, while whole mobs of smaller foes will come apart like tissue paper. The poor controls and disproportionately weak playable cast makes it so that a game over can come out of nowhere, forcing you to restart an entire stage over from scratch--it's not a matter of skill, but of spamming the taunt command before walking into a battle, so that your evolution meter is maxed out and you can evolve on the spot to wipe out the opponents before they can get a single attack in.

    I genuinely enjoyed grinding my party to 999 stats in Digimon World DS more than I enjoyed any part of this game.    … Expand

    Awesome to see digimon rumble make a comeback! It is a bit painful unlocking the characters as the story mode becomes repetitive but it is fun playing it multiplayer.

    This is in no means a classic Digimon game or a must have for the console but it's fun if you play multiplayer with 4 players.

    In my opinion this game is so good , and if you played it with someone , like 2 to 4 players on the same console, it going to be one of the most enjoyable game you'll ever seen

    Although die-hard fans of the franchises could find it somewhat entertaining, Digimon All-Star Rumble fails so hard in becoming an enjoyable option in brawler games, even more when there are better options out there.

    Even die-hard Digimon fans will find very little to relish in this western-only release. For everyone else, many other fighting games can provide a more satisfying experience.
