If you want better graphics then play this on the Xbox One or PS4. I will not type a single word about the hate.

Remains of the game in 2019 ? Good game (graphics, manoeuvrability and musics) but lot of easier thing diseapered especially with Xur. You must take the special edition with destiny, 2dlc and the taken king. Raids (above 20) are very painfull even at level 40 if you are alone. Special edition for 20-30$ now. Argh, now you have a limitation at 330 lux... too bad.

    Not Fun anymore
With Destiny 2 around the corner I thought I’d give the original Destiny a try to see what all of the fuss is about...
And apparently it’s the expansions because it’s not here in the base game...
And with activision shutting down multiplayer modes for those expansions the month this review comes out I’m not going to even bother them...
So while I’m sure Destiny is now this great experience with all its ad ons...
I’m going to just talk about the base game which is a repetitive and boring joke…
Destiny is a competitive and cooperative online only first person shooter where you play as 1 of 3 classes and create your own character
As an aggressive player I played as a titan..
There are 2 bases in this game that you turn in your quest progress 2, get new missions, fork out your real life cash for any weapons that are worth anything from loot boxes and get back to the grind of being a guardian…
    This game is co op...
But through my entire 9 hour journey in story mode I only had team mates in one mission…
The story mode is practically dead…
So you’re going to have to grind through this excuse of a story mode yourself…
Worse is that all 9 hours take place on the same 4 maps…
the missions just take your deeper into these maps each time..
There are some loot boxes here that are like playing a game of where waldo to find them...
so I just stuck to getting my loot from missions and enemy drops…
Leveling up in this game gives you upgrades for your grenades and suit
though the game doesn’t seem to balance in terms of xp if you are playing alone so late game missions are extremely frustrating..
I was playing through the final story mission at only level 14 because of how slow the game was handing levels out because it assumes I’m going to grind through boring story missions over and over or that I’m playing with other people…
I felt like I had to keep playing in these annoying no respawn zones over and over that would reset every time I died…
But these missions are all the same thing of bring up your ghost, go to a point on the map and shoot all of the stuff until there’s no more stuff to shoot rinse and repeat..
There is a competitive team based mode of 6vs6 like call of duty which is the best part of Destiny as a base game...
Here level advantages are taken away, but you’ll level up way faster than the story mode, you’ll get loot drops, and you’ll have way more fun doing it…
IF you were thinking about giving destiny a try before destiny 2 comes out there’s absolutely no reason to
there’s nothing here worth your time
    Give Destiny
    a 6/10

I can´t believe how acitivson and Bungie spent 500 millions on one of the worst games i've played this year, the game FORCES you to pay for DLC's for a gme which costs STILL TODAY 60 USD, this is silly for me. I don´t recommend you this game, indeed, TRY to get away from this thing!

I really wanted to love this game, but it went straight back to GameStop after a week.

The artwork is pretty good, but can't overcome what is meant to be a seemingly endless grind fest with little payoff.

I think I read somewhere that developers said that once users got to level 20 or something people's views would completely turn around, which just goes to serve my point, apparently developers are completely delusional as to the level of boredom I am willing to go through before quitting entirely.

Almost zero story or background information. Are you on Mars? Are you on Earth? What's that big sphere? What happened to all the people?

You get maybe 1 or 2 lines about the most interesting looking parts of the game. I can only assume that larger parts of the story are revealed after X numbers of game play hours, but I'm just not that interested after a certain point.

STORY AND CHARACTERS: Storywise it's confusing but i think the plot is to be unraveled in the installments to come. Chataers are everything in Destiny. You'll grind that gear that you like for weeks and months. Times 3 if you want.
PRESENTATION: The level of detail that Bungie put in the game is remarkable. Outstanding visuals and graphics.
GAMEPLAY: The best i've encountered in a video game. Very responsive and intuitive. Perfect.
ONLINE: The game's core. You will need to join a clan if you want competent and fun play. Like i said Destiny changed my lone wolf nature into a community player. Gaming won't ever be tha same after Destiny.
Destiny can either be hated or loved as a gaming experience. i absolutely loved it. Played it more as all the sum of games i played on PS3. You now what i mean?

The game itself does not have any real story; if you want to know anything of a story you need to got to a website, and then it is in minute pieces that you have to piece together yourself.

The real problem is, that once you get to advance to the max, you need to purchase DLC's; and even worse, is that you need to get these updates before you can play at all. The original gave you a number of things to do, but once an update came, things were removed and you could no longer do without purchasing the updates. This last update, called The Taken King, has removed almost all the original playable content, and there is only a extremely basic game. This game is very expensive to play, and will only cost you more every time a new DLC will come out.

I will admit, that I liked playing, but the attitude (and ransom) that you will have to pay to play is extremely horrendous. I strongly advise you to just stay away from this game!

Destiny is a first-person MMO shooter released for both old and next/current gen consoles by Bungie - creators of Halo series.

The story in very basic terms revolves around Guardian (your character) fighting againist the Darkness. The main problem with the story is the actual storytelling - you can learn most of the story from so called Grimoire cards that you earn when completing specific challenges such as killing a few of certain enemies, obtaining certain weapons, etc. The cards can then be viewed on Bungie's websites and you can learn quite a lot of interesting things - which is good and bad at once. When playing through the game, you learn barely any story - infact, what you learn is maybe a skeleton of the entire story, it's a shame that players have to visit the website to learn the interesting parts, as there are lot of players that simply don't feel like checking/collecting the cards.

Gameplay-wise, the game is fun in general. It's split into PVE and PVP part. The main goal of PVE is to reach the maximum level and obtain the best weapons which you can use in PVP to wreck other players. Shooting feels great in this game and everyone who loves shooters should not miss this. However, story missions and Strikes (basically missions which don't directly tie into the story, its somewhat of side missions) are quite repetetive and there are not as many of them. The best part of the game - Raids - is based on teamwork of six sychronized people that you have to find externally, as the game does not offer matchmaking for this type of missions. Despite that, Raids are extremely fun for the first few times. However, due to the randomness of loot drops, you may sometimes end up growing tired of Raids as you are forced to repeat them over and over again (not to mention that you can only do the Raid once-per-character-per-week). And whilst many players don't have problem with this, there are few situations when for example someone who has play'd for month or two ends up dropping weapon that someone else may drop in six months. There are also Weekly and Daily activities, in which you can earn yourself some nice bonuses and loot aswell.

As for PVP - Crucible, players can pick from four modes, sometimes even having a fifth "bonus" mode available. There modes are pretty basic, maps aren't too bad and the PVP in general is fun. However, it still needs some adjustments here and there. The worst thing about Crucible is probably the actual randomness of the loot. It doesn't matter on how you perform, you have same chance of getting the same reward as everyone, so if you happen to have 3 kills and 10 deaths, it's still easily possible for you to get Exotic (top tier) weapon as much as for someone who has 20 kills and 4 deaths and is on the top of the board. Infact, sometimes it feels like the worse players actually get better loot.

The graphics of the game are masterpiece. It's very unique and just fits this game so well, it may possibly be the best thing about this game.

From the technical point of view, there are no bigger problems, the game looks and runs fine on both old gen and next/current Gen consoles - the only differences that I've noticed between PS3 and PS4 versions were that PS4 version looks slightly sharper and Inventory load times are somewhat faster on PS4 than on PS3, which is actually quite useful in big gunfights.

What's not so amazing is the way developers treat their player base. Although it sometimes may seem like they are actually listening to the players, here and there it feels more like they want their game to be play'd in specific way and if players happen to find other, for them more fun way to play it, the patch comes in and ruins it all. This mostly applies to weapon nerfs, as when Bungie notices that certain type of weapon is not used too much and other type of weapon is used way too much, they simply solve it by tuning down the most used weapons and tuning up the least used weapons. Whilst this may sound like a nice way to keep all the weapons on the same level, it's actually quite annoying. Some guns just have to be weaker than the others. Some guns just have to be more enjoyable. The way of life.

Another thing is absurd treating of players when it comes to DLCs. The "expansions" come after long time and offer quite small amount of content compared to their price. Whether this is fault of Activision or Bungie is and will probably remain a mystery, but it's not like it would change anything.

To summarize: Destiny is fun, yet average First-Person MMO shooter with great graphics and enjoyable gameplay. Its faults remain mainly in somewhat way too random rewards, repetetivity, and not the best developers support. Yes, we all know Bungie still acts towards players nicer than some other studios out there, but some things are just unacceptable. Hopefully that'll get better overtime.

It really gets repetitive at least after the pretty lame story-section. To be clear: The story missions itself are really repetitive as well.. Goto XY -> Insert Ghost here -> Fight off a varying number of enemy waves
But from there on the game is solely based on Strikes and Raids. Both are multiplayer with a varying number of companions. You have to play those missions on your level (light-level above the normal level maximum of 20 is achieved with gear) or above to get better equipment. It happens a lot that people in your team suddenly disappear and then you're on your own (and most of these missions cannot been beaten alone).
So why a rating of 5 and nothing below?
I got the game for 33 USD and I am going to play the game with friends and colleagues from work for at least a couple of hours. After all I still haven't played the Strikes and Raids above my level. So the game is entertaining me at least >= 33 hours, which will be around a maximum of 1$/h. I think this is fair.

PS: What really grinds my gears is the fact that the game has absolutely nothing from the game that Bungie initially promised. This is just sad.

In spite of being signed into PSN it usually cannot find Destiny servers and having been sold as a PS3 game it takes forever to install, then to make matters worse it does not work and relays users to a 170mb "compatibility 1" patch which takes 21 min to download on a fast fibre optic connection.

Still not satisfied the game again will not work and relays users to a 1141 mb "compatibility 2" patch which takes over 5 hours to download thanks to the vending servers going at a snails pace and then gives error message "oyster"

This software is a complete joke - do not buy this game for PS3 under any circumstances unless you want to spend USD 50 to sit and watch the start screen or a download screen for hours on end.

This is a rubbish, buggy completely unplayable product, a complete rip off - if I could give it a negative score I would.

This game is surely better than a 4.5, I can tell you that. Lets just say this right off the bat. The "story" (or lack thereof) is awful. Just weak and generic. The games graphics are decent...for a ps3 game. With all that said, the gameplay is terrific. The game may be repetitive but what game isnt? Halo is, CoD is, a bunch of games are. Halo is, CoD is, a bunch of games are. The game isn't one you jump out of your seat for but when you start playing it's addictive. Just one more mission. Just one more bounty. This game has a ton a replay value. This game is definitely worth checking out if you into FPSs and small (not MMO) scale online games. Expand

Destiny is a beautiful shell of a game which promises greatness and delivers tedium. For me in all honesty regardless of how I felt about the experience that is Destiny, that does not dilute the reality that Activision (not to be confused with Bungie) betrayed us due to corporate decisions to the tune of "What will make us more money?" Obviously the entire point of the industry just like any other industry is to make money, but at what cost, your fans loyalty, disgracing the art that this industry has become? The outlook on the future of this industry is very grave if this is what the new generation is gonna be. Activision screwed up with Destiny. Ubisoft screwed up with Assassins Creed Unity and some others. Not sure about EA, not really a big fan of them. Microsoft screwed up with the kinect. Nintendo screwed up with the Wii U. Sony screwed up with the vita. All of these have been followed up with a slow vindication, or are still trying to find a solution to their issues. If all the big companies release their products half-assed, and release the second half at extra cost, and people just continue to buy it, that tells them that its ok and we agree with this. People need to stand against this or we wont be getting many good games any time soon Expand
