    If you are looking for a deal at $9.99 for added content to Dead Space 3 then you will be sorely disappointed. The DLC looks as if it was a rushed project in order to make a quick buck. Although it does extend the cliffhanger that Dead Space 3 left players at, it does a rather poor job of giving players anything to hold onto except that the longer this series goes on the more pointlessIf you are looking for a deal at $9.99 for added content to Dead Space 3 then you will be sorely disappointed. Although it does extend the cliffhanger that Dead Space 3 left players at, it does a rather poor job of giving players anything to hold onto except that the longer this series goes on the more pointless Issac Clark's mission seems to get. As far as game play goes the game sticks to it's roots. Shoot enemy limbs, stomp on their remains for items, run through several doors, and finally shoot at crates to find more items and upgrade your rig and weapons.

    Visceral studios rehashed much of the earlier areas that Dead Space 3 showed us which just seems to be laziness on their part. As much as I had hoped Visceral wouldn't take the route that EA usually sends it's Game devs down, it seems that they joined the flock. Although Dead Space 3 isn't the worst game around it certainly takes a step down that previous games in the series seemed to excel on.
    Hopefully Visceral will learn their lesson and make the next installment in the series a lot better.    … Expand

    Dead Space 3's first piece of DLC, called Awaking, takes place after the events of original games ending, with Isaac and Carver attempting to return home on space ship, while suffering from Dementia and facing unitologist that have made themselves to look and behave like the Necromorphs. The story also is surprisingly more interesting than what was found in the last game, though the dialog ranges from passible to bad. Ultimately, Awaking is held back by it's short length. Without counting the time spent in the weapon bench, my playthrough lasted about an hour to an hour and a half, and it all ends on a cliffhanger. While it does feel a little pricey for it's short length, Awaking is still a solid piece of DLC that fans will defiantly want to check out.… Expand

    I had a great time playing Dead Space 3 with a buddy and was very happy to have some more content to play on. The expansion was spooky and had 3 or 4 new enemies to fight with. Additionally, it had a whole new set of really fun trophies to collect.

    I had a blast with Awakened.

    Marvelous story with the resurrecting of the horror-side of Dead Space.
    It's definitely just as fun as the Dead Space 3 story mode, and there's no glitches or bugs.
    The one issue I did find with it was that it was very short but it was still a very fun COOP experience (Yes it's less scary, but I find COOP games more fun now and sort of makes the game/dlc worth the price playing with    Marvelous story with the resurrecting of the horror-side of Dead Space.

    Can't understand the good reviews for a cash-in DLC that could have been released with teh main game. Heck the main game isn't that good, it's a major disappointment after the first two games in the series. Skip the DLC, actually while you're at it, skip the whole thing until EA drop this pathetic chase for the FPS gamer and micro-payment pay-to-win trash.

    The game finally returns to its roots of horror, and it does so fairly successfully but fortunately, those too frightened to play have the option of pairing up with a friend to make it far easier, something which EA should think about if they want to expand the market share to the non-horror oriented audience.     Still, the DLC is rousing good fun, and Visceral capitalizes on its claim that the DLC is disturbing though to say that it is the most disturbing of the entire series is probably not true. What is more disturbing is the DLC's short life, which is about two hours perhaps an extra thirty minutes if you play it on "Impossible." A good formula for the length of a game is probably about 40% of what you paid for it anything else is added value or too long, and anything less is just too short. So given that you pay $10 for the DLC, you would expect additional content that's at least four hours long, but some people who rush through content could probably finish it in less than two hours.    … Expand

    Dead Space Awakened definitely has the creep factor that the core game lacked. I was a fun experience and should not be missed if you're a huge Dead Space fan like myself. Its an interesting epilogue to the main game that had me gripped to the epic conclusion. However I do feel or the $10 price tag is a bit high considering you can run through it in an hour or two.     I found it spookier than DS 2 & 3. I also found it harder. Perhaps because I was a bit out of practice, having not played a DS game for a while. But also because the enemies seem to attack in 'hordes' far more often than in previous DS games. Enjoyed revisiting locations from the previous game and seeing how they'd changed.     Without spoiling too much, you could say that apparently Dead Space 3 didn't really end, because this Awakened-DLC could be considered to be an epilogue to the whole mess. Unfortunately, it is way too short and contains recycled content. [April 2013, p.89]

    Awakened is a thin piece of DLC that really only subsists on what made Dead Space 3 good to begin with, and offers little else. It also sells you the real ending to a game you already bought, and the big cliffhanger setup for Dead Space 4, at the rate of $10 — and that kind of sucks.

    Awakened is a good, dementia filled experience for anyone who liked Dead Space 3 and was left wanting more, but will do little to sway new owners into picking up the game just for the downloadable content.
