    I rarely write reviews but seeing the rather mediocre reviews this game has received for the PS4 Metacritic, I felt compelled to provide some counter-weight to this.

    Sure, there are some glitches and maybe the graphics are not the best you can find (if these are deal breakers for you then stay away from Fallout 4 as well...) - but the basic idea is superb and the atmosphere incredible    I rarely write reviews but seeing the rather mediocre reviews this game has received for the PS4 Metacritic, I felt compelled to provide some counter-weight to this.

    Sure, there are some glitches and maybe the graphics are not the best you can find (if these are deal breakers for you then stay away from Fallout 4 as well...) - but the basic idea is superb and the atmosphere incredible (indeed clear to see the French artistry- just think about the other game that deserved so much more popularity: Beyond Good and Evil for another example).

    Without giving spoilers, I can say that when the game moves from more fixed to dynamically changing shadows to use its a spark of brilliance, and the way some of these moving shadows you have to use in 2D mode are actually your parents having a fight - thus providing very interesting and emotional background info while you continue playing - is second to none. The theatre piece is very inventive as well. In the end you'll end up with open questions that will keep recurring in your mind. I could go on, but suffice to say that I think this game is very under-rated.    … Expand

    I enjoyed Contrast quite much, mainly because of its brilliant setting and general atmosphere. In artistic terms, it really is an outstanding game, and I greatly appreciate that.

    It is also true, though, that the game is technically weak in certain aspects, such as the movement of the character or the graphics themselves. In any case, I do not think the technical aspect of Contrast is    I enjoyed Contrast quite much, mainly because of its brilliant setting and general atmosphere. In artistic terms, it really is an outstanding game, and I greatly appreciate that.

    It is also true, though, that the game is technically weak in certain aspects, such as the movement of the character or the graphics themselves. In any case, I do not think the technical aspect of Contrast is too significant a hindrance to completely ruin the game; rather, it is just an element that could certainly be improved.

    I highly recommend the game, since it is actually not too long and the artistic virtues of the game are more than the technical flaws.    … Expand

    It is short. It has some issues with the control and bugs like glitches in the collision system. And the story lives some inconclusive arcs. But yet there's something in Contrast that makes it an experience worthwhile thanks to a exquisite artistic direction Noir-Burlesque, a superb soundtrack full of good old fashioned jazz, and some of the best 2D platform moments we have seen in a long long time, with jumps, feelings and narrative mixing all in one. It's short, it has some issues and its a little expensive, but give it a chance, and Contrast will get you.
