    Batman Arkham City is without a shadow of a doubt the very best Batman Arkham game ever made. And I don’t think any other superhero game would top this as this game felt like The Dark Knight of all superhero games.

    Arkham City has to be the best Batman game I've ever played. It truly captures the essence of Batman. You really feel like you're the Caped Crusader here. Most everything about this game is great, from the combat, to the boss battles, to the story, and the voice acting. The only complaint I have is that the city itself wasn't terribly interesting. And while it is fitting in a Batman game,Arkham City has to be the best Batman game I've ever played. It truly captures the essence of Batman. You really feel like you're the Caped Crusader here. Most everything about this game is great, from the combat, to the boss battles, to the story, and the voice acting. The only complaint I have is that the city itself wasn't terribly interesting.     Amazing game. I'm so excited for Arkham Knight. Honestly, it's not exactly my type of game, but it still caught my breath. After the story, there isn't much to do, honestly, but the campaign is great. Awesome storyline too. It's interesting how the amount of time taken to beat the game is about how long it is in the game.

    Great game! Is easily the best batman game ever done (even better than Batman Arkham Knight). Good graphics, great story, great voice acting and...a superb soundtrack. Totally recommend this game. 9/10

    This game makes you feel like batman finally. The voice acting is great and the story is one you will play more than once. All the side missions were memorable and the graphics are brilliant. The combat is the most fun combat in any game I have ever played.The soundtrack is perfect and there is so much justice for batman fans. This is super hero games done right.

    For those that haven't played the first Batman Arkham Asylum, it is not necessary to start there but I highly recommend not passing up the first before you go to the sequel as the first will wet your appetite for this one and you will be amazed at what they did for the follow up in Arkham City.     The greatest game i have ever played is Batman Arkham City because not only for a fantastic open-world that has been given to us but the gripping story that sticks with you even after you have finished the game. Arkham City is full of life and challenges like the memorable Riddler Challenges back bigger than ever.     EDIT: Still think the game is great, but combat, though it works really well, is monotonous and boring.(specially after many hours of playing). Other things remain the same on my opinion.

In this review I will be giving my opinions and ratings on the following: Gameplay, Story, Sound, Graphics, Last Impressions, and this will be summed up in my final score.

    Gameplay: 9.5/10 - Arkham City    The sequel to one of the most beloved superhero games of all time, Batman: Arkham City brings a new open world to go along with many more overall improvements. But how does it stack up? In this review I will be giving my opinions and ratings on the following: Gameplay, Story, Sound, Graphics, Last Impressions, and this will be summed up in my final score.

    Gameplay: 9.5/10
    - Arkham City brings back the popular free flow combat system from the first game. New this time, is the open world "Arkham City" for you to explore. The game gives much more freedom than the first did and gliding through the skies never felt better. The scale feels much larger and with this, larger scale fights will also be apparent right from the start. Batman controls just as well as in the first game, and the game plays very much the same overall.

    Story: 9/10
    - Again an original story was made by Rocksteady, and again they delivered. The tale is dark and expansive, reappearing are some foes from the first game to go along with many new ones. The cutscenes are well done and the game tells an interesting story. The ending is a bold move by Rocksteady, one that I think will pay off.

    Sound: 8.5/10
    - Sound is good yet again, with excellent voice acting and music. Many of the sound effects are the same as the first game, which is to be expected when doing the same moves. Some of the common thugs you recycled voices, which can at times be very apparent.

    Graphics: 9/10
    - The game looks excellent, improved from the already great looking Arkham Asylum. Gameplay runs fluidly and with a much larger scale to the game, it is an impressive feat. Combat yet again looks seemless. Overuse of "Detective Mode" can really take away from the beauty of many areas, so take my advice and don't overuse it!

    Last Impressions:
    - Batman Arkham City is an excellent sequel, as well as an excellent standalone game. The original doesn't need to be played to understand this, but veteran Arkham players will enjoy the continuation of the Dark Knight's tale. The game is fun to play and tells a new story which Batman fans will enjoy. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the first game and to anyone who just likes Batman in general.

    Arkham City proves to be not only the best batman game but one of the best games ever because of it's engaging story, freeflowing combat and great graphics that can now be seen because you don't need detective mode as much.

The art is breath taking and the only thing that could be better is if there were less bugs but that's a small price to pay for one of the best story's,art,music, and combat in any game, never mind a superhero game.     a flawless game, my favorite of the arkham series. control is perfect side missions are fun, even though i hate doing the riddler challenges in this game i had intensive to do them. i feel like i am batman and i feel the urge to replay this game i absolutely loved this game.

    With the release of Arkham Knight, I now feel compelled to give this game a review and show my true appreciation for it. This game was a worthy winner of game of the year, it transcended its genre and really went that extra step to dele into the batman mythos and explain what he, his allies and villains were all about. I feel that this game challenges the player and highlights the many aspects of the batman, as a crime fighter and detective and also as a fearsome, almost mythical figure who is all too human. Arkham City is a great credit to the batman franchise and is equally as well developed as it's storyline.

    I feel that in order to give a 10 a game needs to be perfect, this game is not perfect, though nonetheless is very, very good. Though for me I enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed any other game, I feel that for the general user a 9/10 reflects the value of this game best.    … Expand

Paul Dini (the writer from batman the animated series) has returned to write one of the best batman stories I've seen, yes it is up there with the killing joke. And one of the only times I will actually cry when the bad guy DIES. yes you are right THE JOKER DIES in what could be the best ending ever! If you can only buy one game buy this.… Expand

    I enjoyed the sequel to the great Batman game Arkham Asylum. I will say I prefer Asylum to this one a bit, but that is mainly due to a couple of factors I will go into later. It is not to far behind as I gave that one and this one both tens. This one has a part of Gotham City being blocked off from the rest of the city and being essentially a holding area for many of Gotham's moreI enjoyed the sequel to the great Batman game Arkham Asylum. I will say I prefer Asylum to this one a bit, but that is mainly due to a couple of factors I will go into later. It is not to far behind as I gave that one and this one both tens. This one has a part of Gotham City being blocked off from the rest of the city and being essentially a holding area for many of Gotham's more undesirable citizens i.e. the criminals. Hugo Strange is behind this insane effort and Bruce Wayne becomes one of the latest inmates. Well Penguin gets his hands on Bruce, but Bruce proves to be a much more physical and tough rich boy than the Penguin was expecting and Wayne soon finds his way to a rooftop where he is sent his bat suit and he now stands as Batman over the bleak city. He must traverse this city full of his most deadly foes such as Two-Face, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and of course the Joker. He must find out what Hugo Strange is planning as he most certainly has an agenda, however things become complicated when Batman's greatest nemesis injects Batman with his own blood because the Joker has contracted something thanks to the Titan formula he used in the previous game. So Batman must find a cure for himself while trying to figure out Strange's plan. The game plays a lot like the first game as the fighting and such is nearly identical. It just occurs over a much greater area this time. The story is top notch and once again Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker are great. It amazes me how well both do with their characters. The main problems I have with this one is the Riddler puzzles are very tough in this one, whereas in the previous game I found all but five without any assistance here I was just to overwhelmed with the amount of riddles laid out before me. Also, the difficulty was very high in this one once the sniper rifles came into play. Trying to get into the theater was an incredible nightmare, I had less trouble with the final foe. Finally, I was expecting to be able to play the game as Catwoman, however, you apparently have to be online to download her and her stories which means to bad for those of us who do not have an internet connection. The boss battles are improved though and overall the game was grand fun with a strangely somber ending, one thinks to themselves that what happens should not be sad, but one still feels a bit bad. At least I did. Here is hoping for a part three that incorporates all of Gotham and lets you drive the Batmobile.… Expand

    This game is better than Arkham Asylum in almost all but story, however this game is in my own TOP 5 of videogames: I love its modes and challenges, I love its map and I love its enemies. 9/10

    Everything is improved from the last game, combat, open world, side content, etc. Only thing that is worse is the inconsistent story. Still interesting though.

    This is a great sequel that has a better story and greater scope. What I like the most is the new boss fights characters as none repeat from the first. The side quest is also better and brings new depth and added bonus to the story. The only downgrade is that the game graphics have not aged well, a remaster or new engine graphics will make this one a 10 for me. Overall this is a must-play game.

    Batman arkham city is an outstanding game.Excellent story.Excellent combat system.Graphics are also nice but you may get bored sometimes but it is definitely worth purchasing.

At 1st I thought I made a big mistake, but after the first boss battle I got the hang of it and enjoyed myself, would have been way too easy on any other setting. Boss fights were cool, especially Mr. Freeze. But the other boss fights bring me to why I gave theReally good game.     One of the most expansive, detailed, and entertaining game I have ever played. The open world is enormous and makes for long hours of gameplay. Storyline is complex and poignant. Very high quality game. Highly recommend!

    Almost Perfect! Great story, great combat, smooth gameplay, tons of content especially with all DLCs, great graphics, great audio. More fun than Arkham Asylum in my opinion. Recommended!

    This game improves on soooo many levels from the previous one, the combat is smoother, the world is bigger, more badass villains, and cat woman's booty, what more can you ask for, BE THE BATMAN!!!!!!

    One of my favourite PS3 games ever. There was so much to do outside of the main story line which was also very good and enticing. Combat system was very engaging and fun. Movement was fluid in most places and there was nothing in this game that frustrated or annoyed me which is rare. Awesome game.

    Not only did it successfully fix and introduced us to a smoother combat system wich was a joy to play, but it added more characters to the story (heroes and villains) a more complex plot, a larger map with tons of side missions, it made the detective mode less overpowered, and better boss battles. The    Batman: Arkham City improves from Arkham Asylum, it's larger, bigger, but better.

    Not only did it successfully fix and introduced us to a smoother combat system wich was a joy to play, but it added more characters to the story (heroes and villains) a more complex plot, a larger map with tons of side missions, it made the detective mode less overpowered, and better boss battles.

    The story is excellent, it offers much more than Asylum in terms of storytelling. We have, as I said before, more villains that we love but were missing from the previous game. And do I have to talk about the boss battles? They were such an improvement and were extremely fun to play (Mr. Freeze's boss still remains as one of the greatest boss battles ever made). And with a twist that was as unexpected as ever, you'll love this game more.

    Combat and Predator missions are also improved from Asylum, there are more challenges that'll guarantee endless hours of gameplay trying to get 3 stars in al stages.

    I do not have any flaws with this game, and that is something, it is an experience more than a game in wich you enjoy every single moment of it. Also, this is one of the few games were I really recommend getting the GOTY edition. It includes the Catwoman storyline, more challenge missions, more characters and skins, and a new story wich is still fun to play. This game is definitely worth at full price. Any comic book fan, Batman fan, or gamer in general should love this one.    … Expand

    Great game! Overwhelming when it comes to gathering all of the hidden trophies. I love that you can transition between playing as Catwoman and Batman. There was a moment towards the end of the game where I was a bit lost on what I was supposed to be doing. I love the open world feel to the game. It feels as if you can fly around forever and the scenery is amazing. Combat style is easy toGreat game! Overwhelming when it comes to gathering all of the hidden trophies.     A really great game expanding the area of exploration and concepts from the first game. One of the games I actually could not pull myself away from playing. The Original story for the game based on characters from an originally established universe continues to deliver and not disappoint.     I realize how old this game is at this point, however, that doesn't anything away from this absolute masterpiece! I have been thinking long about this, however, I personally believe this game is perfect, not a single aspect about it was less than amazing, I love this game to bits, it truly is my favorite game I have ever played, and it deserves the crown for the best superhero game ever made.

The story expands on the awesome plot of Arkham Asylum introducing new villains as well as featuring returning ones from Batman's iconic rogue gallery. Well, that was their first try. But Arkham City brought it to a new whole level. A big city (big enough, there's no need to make huge maps, why?), lots of action (that well, will make you feel you areAwesome. Most fail when it comes to making games of superheroes, but Rocksteady was the exception. I even had fun playing the first part, which everybody complained because it was too plain. Well, that was their first try. But Arkham City brought it to a new whole level. A big city (big enough, there's no need to make huge maps, why?), lots of action (that well, will make you feel you are the best but just pressing one-two buttons), challenges, sidequests, but most importantly a great story. The Unreal engine also makes wonders in a little console like the PS3. The series should have ended here thou, then they started doing more of the same, yet bigger, but turned out to be repetitive, kinda like what happens with Assassin's creed games that, they try to convince you all is new but nothing changed.… Expand

    The best video game based on a comic I have ever played. It maintains all the good elements from Arkham Asylum at the same time it is greatly improved.

    The city is bigger and offers more possibilities, and the story captivates from the very beginning. Even if you do not like superheroes, this is must-have within the adventure/action genre.

    Arkham City is a very fun and challenging game, with compelling story and narrative, top-notch voice acting, stellar graphics, and very well-written characters. It also features one of the best boss fights in video gaming history. The best parts of this game are probably the gameplay and voice acting. In any case I would recommend this version over the remaster.

    Much fun though the bat ears are no height as such saying..the hat of the Dunpeal in D the Vampire Hunter. Batman Arkham City has technological gadgets to beat anything that is criminal in the game world. He can reach heights however the city is dark and might creep something a little too much. Great game other wise, not that found as handful as Vampire Hunter D though.

Honestly the only people who wouldn't like this game would be those people who hate on Batman because he's popular and they would like to feel superior to trash him then to just admit the guy is a badass.     The story, gameplay, graphics, everything is awesome and a lot better than Asylum.
    unfotunatelly I can´t rate with a 9.7, but that´s the rate I would give to this masterpiece.

    Arkham Asylum but bigger, with improved gameplay, a more complex story and more content. However the game does lack a bit when compared to it's predecessor, due to the incredible atmosphere in Asylum, which Rocksteady just didn't quite manage to match in the way bigger and open Arkham City prison. Nevertheless, AC succeeds as a sequel and is yet another brilliant Batman game by Rocksteady.

Though I loved Arkham Asylum this game improves on everything Asylum did right from combat to gliding and to the story *spoiler alert* I loved the characters from Ra's Al Ghul to the Joker himself and the end is filled with so many twist from clayface being a fake Joker to Talia's death. The DLC was also amazing showing what happened after Joker died and I love that at the end of the game you can though I loved Arkham Asylum this game tops it of by a smidge switch from Batman. I will say that although 'Asylum' is still my favourite of these two, for reasons outlined inAs a follow-up to Arkham Asylum, I'm not sure what much else Rocksteady could have pulled off back in 2011. Bigger and bolder and more expansive. More classic villains, and even introducing Cat Woman as a playable character with her own unique moves and abilities for a small part of the game. I will say that although 'Asylum' is still my favourite of these two, for reasons outlined in my Asylum review, this game is exceptional. Some will prefer the bigger scope, though for me, I really like Asylum as a classic example of what a more contained experience can be.

    This time we have side missions introduced, nearly all of which don't feel tacked on to me, and many you can complete naturally during the main mission, or anytime at your leisure post-completion on your way to your Platinum / 100%. I enjoyed some of the mini challenges like the AR Bat-Clawing stuff, and, like Asylum, I respected that the post-game predator and combat challenges really made you 'master' the mechanics. For those going for the platinum achievement on this game, by the end you feel like you've really mastered all facets of this game, and is well worth pursing. If this is your first game of this nature you should now feel a more formidable gamer for other similar titles if you try them. For me, the 'ball-ache' moment this time, at least for a while was the Master Predator campaign. Campaigns were a new mode introduced that combined 3 predator and/or combat challenges into one campaign to complete, and you choose up to 3 modifiers that can make the challenges harder or easier.

    For me, one downside on the base PS4 remaster is this does blue screen 'crash', and unlike Arkham I experienced some fps slow down on occasion, though for me, this happened during the combat challenges aka Riddler's revenge post-game, where we can have many many enemies on screen at once being pummeled. The PS4 just sort of gave up at one point. That said, it was still rare enough not to burn my experience. Bat-clawing around the city was very fun this time, and clearly a fore-bearer to the likes of what Insomniac did to arguably even better effect later on in Marvel's Spider-Man.

    One other down-side is if you didn't enjoy collecting the Riddler trophies in Asylum, you really won't enjoy it here, because there are more of them, and some of them are taxing puzzlers. That said, again, getting them feels rewarding as you get very cool concept art, 3D character trophies, and Arkham lore stories for doing it all, and doing it all is a requirement for the Platinum / 100%. It's time consuming, but for a game like this, doing all this AND having to do a new game plus run I feel the game is one of the harder Platinums, but also that it deserves completing.    … Expand

    Arkham City just does everything Arkham Asylum did but bigger and better. The scope of the open world and narrative is grander and playing as batman in a wider arena is pure joy. Boss fights also offer a remarkable improvement over the first game.

    So präsentiert sich Arkham City mit einer vollwertigen Open World Architektur. Die Mainquests um den Joker und Dr. Strange machen dabei höchstens ein Drittel des gebotenen Contents aus. Allerhand Nebengeschichte um weitere Unterweltgrößen Gotham Citys, wie den Riddler, Two Face oder auch Catwoman und Pinguin, machen Arkham City eigentlich erst zu dem was es ist, nämlich zu einer Spielwiese für alle Fans des Batman Universums. Rocksteady ist es unglaublich gut gelungen, die Vielzahl an Charakteren, die wir alle kennen und lieben, in die Quests der Open World zu integrieren. Dabei agiert Rocksteady zudem so stilsicher, dass man sich tatsächlich direkt nach Gotham City versetzt fühlt, da sich alles so **** cool, irgendwie echt und einfach nach DC anfühlt.

    Eine weitere Stärke der Arkham Reihe sind zudem die vielen innovativen Gameplaymechaniken. So gleiten wir nicht nur stilsicher über die Dächer von Gotham, sondern erledigen unsere Gegner, ganz Batman like, meist geschickt aus dem Dunkeln, was sich dank der hervorragend umgesetzten Stealth Mechanik unglaublich befriedigend spielt. Kommt es dann doch einmal zum offenen Kampf, greift die Arkham Serie hier auch ein extrem flüssiges Beat'em Up Gameplay zurück, bei dem wir ganz geschickt automatisch von einem zum nächsten Gegner hechten können, auf Knopfdruck Ausweichkonter austeilen oder verschiedene Spezialmanöver ausführen, die wir im Laufe des Spiels erlernen. Das Gekloppe spielt sich dabei so rasend schnell und fluide, dass einem fast schwindelig wird.

    Bewegen wir uns eher in Räumen, bzw. den Dungeon-artigen Leveln, die vor allem im Rahmen der Mainquests zu finden sind, dann kommen zudem verschiedene Gimmicks und Gadgets zum Einsatz, wie etwa das Batarang oder die Batclaws, die wir vor allem zum Lösen diverser Umgebungsrätsel benötigen. Eine weitere stilprägende Mechanik ist der Detektiv Modus, den wir auf Knopfdruck aktivieren können und der die Umgebung nach interessanten Objekten scannt. Die Mechanik hat sich nicht zuletzt auch Tomb Raider ganz prominent geklaut. Der Detektiv Modus wird auch in vielen Nebenquests genutzt, beispielsweise wenn wir Tatorte untersuchen und dort Hinweise und Spuren finden müssen.

    Es gibt wirklich nicht viele Spiele, die es schaffen, so viele Spielelemente so elegant zu verbinden und dabei auch das richtige Pacing und Leading treffen, damit man mit all den Möglichkeiten nicht völlig überfordert da steht. Das schafft Rocksteady wirklich großartig. Wenn man das Spiel denn irgendwo kritisieren möchte, dann wäre da zum Einen die Tatsache, dass es kaum begehbare Gebäude in Arkham City gibt. Die Stadt fungiert primär als Kulisse und nur wirklich Quest-relevante Locations sind auch wirklich betretbar. Das Zweite wäre, dass Storytelling scheinbar nicht unbedingt zu den größten Stärken Rocksteadys zählt. Die Quests an sich sind toll inszeniert und die Charaktere großartig gezeichnet, die erzählerischen Mittel generell jedoch eher sehr einfach gehalten. Mit Naughty Dog Produktionen beispielsweise, kann das Arkham Franchise jetzt nicht konkurrieren. Aber das ist Meckern auf hohem Niveau. Denn Arkham City ist nicht nur ein unglaublich gut gelungenes Batman Spiel, sondern auch eine der besten Open World Erfahrungen dieser Konsolengeneration.    … Expand

First the stealth, stealth is one of the of the best qualities of this game the different ways you can takedown your enemies is so unique as well as the combos. It never stops amazing be how different fighting styles batman has learned. The best thing about this game was the story so compelling not knowing what to expect and it continues off Arkham asylum very well. The voice for every character did a fantastic job especially both Batman and Joker, The boss fights are good enough to keep me on my toes. And by far the best boss fight Mr freeze, finding new ways I've never tried taking down a person was so amazing and mr freeze learning of the same tricks makes you adapt to new ideas. Although I do like this game not a fan of the world it seems bland yet its a batman game so its somewhat expected. The introduction to other characters like Robin and catwoman was well executed. The plot twist of the joker dying was such a twist leaving me shocked of what batman ultimately did. 9/10 definitely would recommend this game… Expand

    Yes, I'm writing this review in 2020. But looking back, this is my single favorite game i've ever played in my life. There is so much passion evident in the world building and character building, and makes for a extremely satisfying game to finish. I hate story games. I've finished this game 5 times. It really is an absolute masterpiece that I can never forget

I ran out of sidequests fairly quick and the only thing remaining were the Riddler trophies, but it has great replay value due to the story and great sidequests.… Expand

Gadgets can be used in way more unique and creative ways. Best shown in the Mr. Freeze fight which still holds up as one of the best boss battles in the Arkham series.     The catwoman DLC is something i want to briefly touch on. Although it's not a bad addition to the game by any means, it isn't that great either. It gives more combat options and ways to traverse around the city which i find pretty neat. And the levels themselves aren't too bad, i don't think it's anything really special. It's a pretty good addition breaking the pacing between the main game just to take a break i guess. But i feel they could've done a lot more with this. What we got was fine, not taking away any points from this or anything. Just feel it could've been a bit better.

    I don't wanna make this too long. So i'll slim this down by saying, some levels are pretty uninspiring and some plain boring. Some boss battles are really underwhelming. Riddler trophies are a damn pain. But altogether, amazing game and a classic.    … Expand
