    If you are into helicopter flight simulator this one if for you. Plenty of realistic flight controls and mechanics. The various missions are standard issue but this is a licensed product of a deadly weapon. To be an Apache pilot you need to pass a 2yrs flying course. I've enjoyed the coop and I'm guessing the online is not always open since it's a 2010 game. If you want to engage in moreIf you are into helicopter flight simulator this one if for you.     For those who like flying and helicopters, you'll love this game. Make no mistake, this game is meant for those whose have patience. Once you realize that you have to fly the Apache like a real helicopter, then you'll be having a blast. Too bad the campaign is relatively short, but there are extra missions you can tackle, which are very challenging. Apache: Air Assault not only has Apache's AH-1 and AH-64D Longbow in it but UAV's MQ-8B Fire Scout and MQ-9 Reaper also large helicopters IIMi-26 Halo, Mi-35 Hind, UH-60 Black Hawk and the A-10 Thunderbolt.     This flying simulation is not particularly fun and the combat is not exactly engaging. There is however a real challenge in learning how to fly the Apache and if you are a flying enthusiast you will enjoy this element, however casual gamers will be turned off by the lack of obvious excitement.     The helicopter controls are simcade, the sense of speed flying close to the ground is pretty good but the helicopter doesn't model momentum all that well, nor takes lift into account, you can go full speed in one direction and turn on a dime, or turn the engine off mid flight, and then on again just seconds before hitting the ground and still recover easily.. on    Definitely not a sim.

    The worst offender though are the missions, absolutely awful, barely any effort was put into these, it's always you or a couple choppers vs an absurd amount of enemies, who start firing at you with extreme accuracy from miles away. I beat the game on "realistic". Almost the whole campaign is like a survival mode.
    The game gives you infinite ammo too to put up with the numbers, it just takes a few seconds for rockets to replenish automatically and hellfire missiles take around 2 minutes, again on "realistic".
    Might be worth 5 or 10$ IF you're really into Apaches and because there's no alternatives on PS3.    … Expand

    В своё время услышал про игру, посмотрел игру, хочу поиграть решил я. Так получилось, что поиграть в игру довелось спустя 10 лет после ее выхода. И когда я начал играть то мне очень нравилось, вжух - ракеты пуск - вжух - тепловизор, пулемёт - вжух…. И тут я дошёл до середины игры…. начали ярко светиться косяки в механике игры и апогей достигается на последних 3 миссиях игры, что же тамВ своё время услышал про игру, посмотрел игру, хочу поиграть решил я. Так получилось, что поиграть в игру довелось спустя 10 лет после ее выхода. И когда я начал играть то мне очень нравилось, вжух - ракеты пуск - вжух - тепловизор, пулемёт - вжух…. И тут я дошёл до середины игры…. начали ярко светиться косяки в механике игры и апогей достигается на последних 3 миссиях игры, что же там такого страшного ?
    1 - не страшного, а жутко бесящего
    2 - эти последние 3 миссии дают явно понять что вертолёт АПАЧ название которого вынесено на обложку - это полное гавно, он не может нормально набирать высоту, управление идиотское, не удобное. Можно сменить вертолёт скажут мне игравшие, можно, да только это ничего не меняет - управление так же будет дубовым, а на русских вертолетах такие вещи как самонаводяшки отсутствуют в принципе, а без них тяжко….и они тоже являются проблемой…
    3 - самонаводяшки имеются в ограниченном количестве, после чего надо ждать пока они перезарядятся…. И тут вы узнаете что 2 минуты 30 секунд это ЧУДОВИЩНО долго, а ракеты воздух - воздух это вообще ИДИОТИЯ В КУБЕ мало того что их всего 8 штук (а потом жди 2:30) дак они ещё и нихера не попадают….
    4 - система «ЖИЗЬКИ» после того как ты умираешь 4 раза …. Ты начинаешь миссию заново…. Вот это гениальное решение из 90х меня оставило в полном недоумении, зачем не обычные чекпоинты а ограниченное количество попыток - для меня загадка. На последних 3 миссиях на нас кидают по 12 вражеских вертолетов (помним что ракет в-в мало и они нихера не попадают) тебя из за косяков механике сбивают пару раз в минуту ииииии …… а нам пофиг что остался один враг, начинай заново, великолепно , кто это придумал и кто это тестировал ???
    Итог - как это часто бывает нормальную игру угробили идиотские решения - неудобное управление (которое можно ещё и на реализм поставить, как не трудно догадаться там вообще ТУШИ СВЕТ),чудовищные 2 минуты 30 секунд, и ограниченное количество жизней.
    Это должна была быть чистая аркада где мы пафосно управляем супер пупер вертолетом, которая была угроблена парочкой идиотских решений, результат которых выражается в желании бросить геймпад в телевизор, как итог - отбивает желание пройти последние 3 миссии, то есть дрогнуть игру, ибо тратить нервы и время не хочется.

    В очередной раз удивляюсь как пара идиотских решений уничтожают все на своём пути.

    Вышеописанные претензии к игре находятся вне времени - то есть вышеописанное прекрасно бесило и 10 лет назад    … Expand

    This game is no core gamer simulation. Sometimes the action is unfair and you should really be a fan of trial-and-error. Apache: Air Assault is nevertheless an entertaining game.

    It's hard to imagine casual types persisting with Apache for too long. It's certainly good enough for a game of its ilk but, once the novelty of pounding the ground wears thin, that's it. With just a single type of helicopter available it lacks the variety you get in most other air combat sims. [March 2011, p78]
