A bad game. This series was killed after Insomniac released the control. You shouldn't waste your time with this game. I wouldn't even give this to my worst enemy. That is how bad it is.

The story intrested me in how dark it was getting, compared to the first. The gameplay, while imperfect, was enjoyable. My only, real problem with this game is its difficulty. Some parts are balanced, and fun, while others are Dark Souls level of frustrating. The game can even be unfair in some instances.

But, despite that, I really loved this game.
I recommend this to anyone who LOVES a huge challenge.

The story is lame, the game's difficulty balance is terrible and overall it isn't a good game or worth your money or time. Do not bother ever putting this game in your Ps2 because you will be dissapointed.

Even more wooden-hearted and mean-spirited than A New Beginning. Pros: Again, good graphics and visuals. Cons: Again, generic and formulaic, and refuses to push the boundaries of whatever genre it "claims" to be.

It is better than enter the dragon fly but not by much. This game is glitchy and bland. There are some good qualities about this game but the cons are much more bigger than the pros.

This game is decent. I couldn't care lesss about its story but the graphic design is very unique. There is a mystic, dark, fantasy vibe in every level. And the gameplay is also good except there is a bit too much fighting but finally a 3D platform game that is not easy (coming after Jak 3 and R&C GC).

I hadn't played any spyro games before this one and later I tried to play

Spyro died after the 3rd release by Insomniac. The rest of the series is pure garbage. The same with Crash series

This game is pretty solid for what it is. Sure it has camera problems and sometimes awkward difficulty balance, but this is still a rather fun and entertaining game. The music seems like it was pulled out of Lord of the Rings, but it's still pretty good. This game also has a nice celebrity voice-cast as well (Even if Elijah Wood seems bored during the game). Still, this is a solid game that provides a decent challenge and awards to keep the player interested. Expand

I enjoy the new story and new abilities. I truly love how the start starts off where the first game left off. The new enemies and Allies are a nice touch

This one felt like it should've been DLC for the first one (if they had come out on PS3 and Xbox 360). This game isn't bad, it feels a lot like the first Legend game, but the first one had some pretty colorful levels, or at least better colors than this one. This one was mostly just filler. i like the combat, exploration, bosses and all that, the atmosphere is really dark and edgy which i didn't mind as this was my first introduction into something like that, i really enjoyed this game way back and i still like playing it, the game is hard and challenged me way back, and still somewhat now, it's a difficult game, but it's certainly doable and rewarding when you beat ai like the combat, exploration, bosses and all that, the atmosphere is really dark and edgy which i didn't mind as this was my first introduction into something like that, i really enjoyed this game way back and i still like playing it, the game is hard and challenged me way back, and still somewhat now, it's a difficult game, but it's certainly doable and rewarding when you beat a difficult boss. Voice acting is alright and i think the creature design is solid, the areas you visit i remember well, overall i would recomend this to people that don't like the darker aproach to spyro and want something on the more difficult side, though there are certainly better dark, difficult games out there like a certain game everyone wants to compare everything to. I think the music is great and fits the mood of every area, great ost for this one overall. I haven't played the first of the legend of spyro trilogy, but i have played some of the third, i dropped that after a bit but i plan to get back to that and i'll probably play the first one at some point, that one doesn't seem as dark, a bit more varied in light and dark tones seems like. I like this game. Expand

The Legend of Spyro: A new Beginning was bad, but this one just blows it out of the water. The story is bad, the art and music are lame and forgettable, but the gameplay is where it truly stinks. The platforming is scarce, boring and simplistic, while the combat (which composes 99% of the game) is repetitive, boring, and artificially difficult. It's already annoying that the combat is so lame, but why is it so unfairly tough? Spyro has no invincibility frames, so chances are that if you're surrounded by enemies (which happens all the time, since you're facing waves of dozens at a time) you'll be stun-locked to death. And the bosses are a pain to deal with, most of them don't have any build-up animations, and their AI is awful.
Make yourself a favour and don't play this game.

  1. Spyro's gameplay works just like it's suppose to--just like it has in every other game in the last decade, so it feels like the development team just phoned this one in. [Nov 2007, p.142]
  2. A solid platformer with some nice visuals and simple but enjoyable gameplay. It doesn't have any huge, glaring deficiencies to speak of, but at the same time, it's simply not cut from the sort of stock that makes a classic.

What Insomniac began Krome have now made completely their own, taking Spyro from a lighthearted adventure to a hardcore dark platformer. [Nov 2007, p.56]
