    I've played several Spider-Man games, and out of all of them, this one is still my all time favorite. This is exactly what I want from not just Spider-Man, but also every other comic book superhero. In other words, this game is a free-roaming game that allows you to roam around New York City, do story missions, and fight crime (basically a superhero Grand Theft Auto). I'm surprised thatI've played several Spider-Man games, and out of all of them, this one is still my all time favorite. This is exactly what I want from not just Spider-Man, but also every other comic book superhero. In other words, this game is a free-roaming game that allows you to roam around New York City, do story missions, and fight crime (basically a superhero Grand Theft Auto). I'm surprised that the only other superheroes who've followed this formula are Batman (Batman: Arkham City), and Hulk (Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction). Of course, the question on everyone's mouths is this. Is this idea well executed? The answer is yes. As a matter of fact, it's not only executed well, it's executed perfectly! It really does feel like a superhero Grand Theft Auto. There are several missions for not only the story, but also jobs such as delivering Pizza, and taking pictures for the Daily Bugle. Along with that, in New York City itself, there are plenty of different crimes to fight. They can be anything from saving a person from falling, to stopping an armored car robbery. The control of this game is excellent. It really makes you feel like you're Spider-Man. This is another important thing I think about when playing a superhero game. The control has to make you feel like the hero that you're playing as, and this game does that perfectly too. As for the graphics, they're decent but not perfect. I've seen far better graphics, but I've also seen far worse. The story is pretty much the same as the movie that it's based on, but expanded with extra characters. As a matter of fact, the only thing about this game that I don't like is the voice acting which is flat out terrible. Aside from that, this entire game is amazing, and is overall one of the best superhero games I've ever played (if not the best).… Expand

    IF you're a spiderman fan. truly the web-swinging is the closet you'll ever come to swinging through the high rising sky blocks. Every spiderman fan should play this game. Otherwise - 7, good fun, spoiled by glitches & repetitiveness.

    Best Spiderman game ever. I love the open world, the web slinging, the graphics and the gameplay. Spiderman games might be bad now but you have to check this one out

    This is, by far, the best spider-man video game I've ever played. They say video games made from movies have a curse but I disagree because this was (and definitely still is by the way) a master piece. Activision should do a remaster or consider going back to its roots at list a little bit cause I miss spidey..

    One of the best Spiderman games for sure, an open world videogame based on the sequel Spiderman 2 with Doctor Octopus as the main villain, incredible game.

Back in the day of 2004, the golden age of gaming and gaming alike the "open-world." swinging around the city, beating the **** out of thugs and pizza time, & being able to laugh at Bruce Campbell's Dialogue. Makes this game a genuine 2004, a classic on the PlayStation 2 Nintendo GameCube & Original Xbox. :)

    Still, the story does at times, have its points of Spider-Man trying to keep his identity hidden from Harry Osborne, who believes Spider-Man killed his dad but honestly his dad killed himself: Spoiler Alert: ending Peter kisses Mary Jane-Watson and date's "the girl next door the girl I loved. Because love is tricky when you live your life behind a mask, fate handed me incredible powers; still, there's only one Spider-Man."

    Overall, five stars, no questions asked, and I couldn't have done better myself and never could you! The year 2004 is the best, and I wish we could have more the best years like it. 10/10 year! :P That one reviewer GenuineBruv2021 suck's hairy balls etc.    … Expand

    Some have said this is a staple in video game history to which I say “a wee bit overrated”. There is a reason this one is a cult classic and easily forgotten by most, but not to be forgotten all together.

    Graphics and sound aren't anything special in regards to this console generation. The overall presentation does nothing to uphold the story and dialogue that is pretty lack lustre. There is some original material in here, but for the most part, just follows the movie. However, where all the praise is directed is the game-play, the web swinging in particular. Look, the overall game really is nothing special compared to most action/adventure titles. Even the controls are clunky enough to be coupled with other 'B-list' titles from the PS2 era. But yes, the web swinging would have no doubt been exceptional for the time, really giving a player the sense they are Spiderman.

    Unfortunately, the overall package is very much a product of its time, qualifying as an 'ok' experience. Very hard pill to swallow if you have played Spiderman PS4. However, might be worth picking up if you are a massive Spidey fan as it is satisfying to swing around New York in a different era of gaming.    … Expand

    I'm so tired of people kissing Spider-Man 2's backside, as it really isn't anything to write home about. Let me elaborate, the controls are some of the worst I've ever seen in any game, the story isn't special at all with average voice acting, and average looking character models. Everyone praises the web swinging when in actuality its very frustrating to get around the city.     I give this game a five because of the web swinging and free roaming other then that this game isnt good at all.     Probably the most repetitive game ever. 3 or 4 missions that repets forever. The grafics are also bad. I'll give it a 5 only because, after all, its spider-man.

The web slinging while I like Insomniac’s version more, gives more creativity of what you can do and fall damage just ups the thrill.     This is a great game. That being said, it's way too short. I rented it on Saturday Night, and I just finished it now, which is Sunday afternoon. It only took about 10 hours to complete. I did everything; bought all of the moves, got all the tokens, earned the 50,000 hero points in the part 2 thing. I did all the challanges, won all the awards.     Really addictive to play at first very worth to buy but in the end all of the missions get sooooo repetitive. great fun to swing and fight. meh a game that you enjoy but after 2 weeks you put it down and rarely touch it.

    If I was the guy who programmed the controls, I'd be pissed off they didn't use them in a more intelligent, fleshed-out way. Given the sheer juiciness of actually BEING Spider-man, this game has no business being this bland.

    If you love spiderman, you can never get bored of the weg sligin, NEVER! also, even though the fighting can get repetitive, there are so many ways of killing enemys you just want to try diffrent ways of killing them all.

Thes PS2 vers. was supposed to have gotten beaten by the ugly stick.     I'll admit I really love this game! I like how this time you can actually go on the ground and explore real places such as Manhattan! My most favorite thing about it is that Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and Alfred Molina play the voices of the characters! It's so much better than the first Spider-man game!

Although it does get a bit repetetive with the annoying missions, and the combat is decent against thugs (but great boss fights) and it's pretty damn funny.     I was never a big fan of the first game but this is a HUMONGOUS improvement. It's almost like GTA. I absolutely recommend this game to anyone who's looking for a fun game.

    As corny as it may sound, you actually feel like Spider-Man in this game. Pros: A wide-open map of New York City with breathtaking depth; fantastic graphics, control, and audio; variety of challenging missions and boss battles; the web-slinging is slick and smooth; some funny dialog. Cons: A lot of slowdowns and poor enemy A.I., as well as camera issues.

    Fantastic game. If you are someone looking for older ps2 games to play Spider-Man 2. It's all about the gameplay for this one. Huge open areas, great combos and cool villains, easily the best Spider-Man game out there. 9/10

Yeah, it's a bit dated and doesn't help much the fact it is based on the excellent 2004's movie, but the missions are fun to play, the secondary missions (which are not part of the main plot) are surely tense, and my god, if there's anythingEasily the best and most entertaining Spider-Man videogame to this date.     Tragically I am a Batman. An obsessive Caped Crusader comic-book collector until 1972 when my evil mother tossed the entire bunch in the garbage. My cousin was Spider-man. His noble mother preserved his collection with plastic envelopes and to this day they remain in pristine condition.

    What's truly tragic about being a Batman is that, despite Nolan's recent attempts (and questionable sincerity), the best Batman movie hasn't been made yet. As far as we know, with Batman's fate resting with Warner Bros, David Goyer, Zak Snider and Ben Affleck, the best Batman movie will not be possible for another decade or two, maybe three. I await thee Dark Knight.

    Again to my cousin's good fortune, the best movie about Spider-man has been established for quite some time. In fact, as a benchmark, it is arguably the best comic-book super-hero movie ever made. I didn't much love Sam Raimi's first Spider-man, and wished my mother could have disposed of his last entry, but Spider-man 2 was, and is, the ultimate movie adaptation from comic-books to the movie screen.

    I was living in Shanghai in the summer of 2004 where I had to commute 3 hours on a hot and dizzy day to see it in English, and was fully rewarded for the effort. I was thrust into a imaginary super-hero world far more pleasing than anything I could remember since childhood. The 3 hour commute back home seemed like a breeze because Spider-man 2 awoke the wonder-struck boy inside me. It reminded me of a happy youth I forgot I had. It felt like Spidey was on the subway with me and would protect me from any harm. And he was just a boy himself! Batman? Who's that?

    For a super-hero story, nearly everything is perfect in this movie. Doc Ock couldn't have been better. He looked exactly the way he did, at the height of Stan Lee's eminence, in the brightly coloured panels fighting Spiderman in 1968. And sounded just like I imagined he would. Peter and Mary Jane were in their element and their friendship and romantic undertaking actually mattered. The story and action played out the way a comic book should. It was both intimate and fantastic. Trippy, wonderful and scary. It was like growing up all over again. The climax was a bit too flashy, loud and over-the-top at that time, but by today's standards, when compared to climactic train-wrecks in Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and the Avengers, it's perfectly splendid.

    We are now being helplessly bombarded with comic book movies attacking us from every direction, all of them trying to out-do each other, jumping one shark after another. Every marginal superhero from Dr Strange to Shazam is being dusted off and hurled onto the big screen for our insatiable happy-childhood-appeasing appetite. The Marvel of Disney is launching at us one theme-park roller-coaster ride after another. Sony, with their Amazing Spider-man abominations, has completely lost it. Fox's X-Men and Fantastic Four proliferations hit the wall long ago. And DC, under the reigns of Warner Bros, has transfigured into its own worst enemy. A wretched mutation not even the Joker finds amusing.

    Turns out Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2 is the gold standard by which all comic-book movies, certainly those of the super-hero variety, are and, evidently, will be set. Lucky cousin.    … Expand

    Flying around NYC is a great experience. And thats the biggest benefit of this game. Well, it was in 2004. The story line was ok, nothing extraordinary. I believe that these days the game would probably suck

    As far as movie licensed games go this was a very good game! Very heavily inspired by the PS2 era of GTA games, but without the violence/car theft and with Spidey instead to save the day! New York City is all open world and you must do missions whilst web slinging across New York skyscrapers. You can basically go anywhere! Very good game.

Great game, I can remember shelling out hours upon hours outside of the story mode because that's how much I enjoyed the freedom to move out and about unlike the first Spider-Man (which was also a great game).     One of the most unique Spider-Man games and even after 12 years still hanging the best one. Web swing is fun and the combat isn't button mashing. The Missions are although similar to the film. They are drastically changed. The game expands towards the film and performance by shocker and mysterious is phenomenal. Voice acting is pulled out from the movie actors and is great. The upgrade system is unique and well though out. Web Upgrades, momentum upgrades, combat upgrades, etc. There are side missions that you have to do to progress though out the game and does get a bit repetitive it goes by pretty fast and is enjoyable. The wall climbing and jumping was a huge step up from previous titles. Your jump was more controlled. You could go really high or just high. Overall I would give Spider-Man 2 on the PS2 a 8.5/10. There is no chance of a remastered game as its licensed. There are also some glitchs however they can be ignored.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most movie tie in games feel rushed but spider-man 2 for the PlayStation 2 does not feel very rushed. Okay so the best thing about this game is Bruce Campbell he does an amazing job as the narrator. The swinging is also amazing. The combat is good, the bosses are great and story is really good too. The side missions are boring that is a problem. Spider-man 2 for the ps2 is a great game I recommend it to anyone who has not played it.… Expand

    Spider-man 2 is great! The web swinging physics are superb. The story is great as well. But it just gets a bit repetitive with the hero point missions.

    This game I played it back when I was in middle school and it was a blast to beat, of course in 2019 the graphics don't really stand up to today but it was super fun beating up the shet out of thugs and the combos you could make were unreal and awesome to pull off! With Spider-Man ps4 doing justice for what Spider-man 2 was and improving this game is a legend to remember and praise. GG

    Very nice swinging though the city, good motivating upgrade system, good side- and good main missions. But there is a small and a big downside: You can choose the side missions, but you get to know it only if you already have chosen it. And: The boss in the game show is so hard to kill, I got stuck.

    This game holds a special place in my heart. It was the first, imo, truly great superhero game, and it remained one of the GOATs for the better part of two decades which is pretty insane. It hasn't aged well considering how fantastic of a job Insomniac has done with the new Spider-Man games, but for it's time? This game was a masterpiece and one of my favorites ever.

    Spider-man 2 one of the best combat Spidey games ever made next to Web of Shadows. You get a slow down time special i.e. your spidey reflexes and you get a ton of moves and the story is awesome. Love this game and will beat it many more times.

    Bom Webswing, ajudar os pedestres nas ruas é ótimo, porém algumas missões são difíceis ao ridículo e há bugs que atrapalham bastante no combate, principalmente se tratando do lock-on nos inimigos. No geral, jogo bom mas não é o melhor.

    I don’t care if it’s nostalgia or not this is a great game. Just like GTA III this game set the stage for future games. The swinging is so fun. I caught myself just swinging around the open world for like 30 minutes. Most people take this game too seriously. Yes the voice acting is bad , especially Toby Maguire’s performance. But honestly this game is kinda funny. The ragdoll physics mixedI don’t care if it’s nostalgia or not this is a great game. Just like GTA III this game set the stage for future games.
