    First - We say its a horror game, if u take a little look at the other horror games, u can probably see most of em makes "jumpscare" to scare the player. But we cant see any "jumpscare" in sh2.     First - We say its a horror game, if u take a little look at the other horror games, u can probably see most of em makes "jumpscare" to scare the player. But we cant see any "jumpscare" in sh2. Game more use the athmosphere, sound effects or epic game musics. Sh2 gives horror insidiously to player.

    Second - Sh2's way to show us the path we gotta go. In fact sh games doesnt directly shows us the path we ll go. We first look around then gets in a street, and see there's a blockade at the end of the road, then we come back and get in a building to pass the blockade, solving puzzles in building, baiting enemies.... more more. I mean sh2 doesnt say us the way like in other games' hint texts. Third - The story. Story.........If Sh2's story was even only a book, it could impress me. Aint no spoilers here but this mystrious story really goes very different. Story can be the biggest difference between sh and re.


    Fourth - EPIC SOUNDTRACK..... These re the MAIN things in sh2 i lov and show the game as 10 points. But sh2 is not limited with em, u needa play to got it. Really i needed to laud more the puzzels and more stuffs    … Expand

    Arguably the greatest horror game of all time and theres very little reason to argue against it. Theres nothing about this game thats half assed or bad. Everything is done with such efficiency and skill and it makes for a fantastic video game. This is not only a must have for Survival Horror fans but for any video gamer

    El juego perfecto de horror y con mucho significado, cada fase del juego es más envolvente que la otra permitiendo así que te sientas en los zapatos del personaje en todo momento, sin lugar a dudas el que quiera pasar un buen rato en el mal sentido de la palabra debe jugar silent hill 2.

    While not perfect, especially at mechanical level, Silent Hill 2 left such an impression on me that I can't give it anything else than 10. What I think is most worth mentioning here is that somehow this survival horror game manages to tell a more mature story than most of other video games. Its as good at it gets.

Pour faire un bon survival horror, il faut un gameplay qui fait mouche, des éléments horrifique et une ambiance opressante, avec en chantillly une histoire intéressante. SH2 a certains de ces éléments : L'ambiance est opressante, les musiques d'embiances sont réussies (l'ost de "under water" est chelou). Les éléments horrifiques sont présents aussi, avec zéro jumpscares, ce sont juste les enemis qui roam, qui m'ont fait parfois bien flipper. Leur gueule est quasi indescriptible, c'est tellement chelou mais j'adhère. Quand à la narration, c'est bien et pas bien, le perso se croit à Disneyland Parc, il est naïf et presque sans émotion. L'histoire des persos à côté sont ok. Fin je veux dire, Billy il a buté quelqu'un, il se fait torturer par la ville parce qu'il se croit innocent. C'est la même chose pour l'histoire principal. Le perso bute sa meuf, il se fait torturer par la ville parce qu'il ne veut pas se l'avouer. C'est juste ok pour moi. Le gameplay ne vaut pas grand chose, c'est ma première impression, et c'est resté jusqu'à la fin, je contrôle un gars de 30 ans ou un handicapé ? L'aspect survie est très limitée, c'est pour ça que j'ai dû mal à le qualifier de survival horror. Ensuite les puzzles consiste en fait à aller chercher dans toute la map un objet, puis l'activer, il y a eu trois puzzles de réflexions.     Silent Hill was already a great game but this sequel takes the series to new highs and creates one of the best PS2 games of all time. Everything about the atmosphere, fog, and story is spectacular and makes    Silent Hill 2 might perhaps be the greatest psychological horror video game of all time. Or at least, according to me as of now. My 2nd favorite video game of all time currently.

    Silent Hill was already a great game but this sequel takes the series to new highs and creates one of the best PS2 games of all time. Everything about the atmosphere, fog, and story is spectacular and makes this one of the most thrilling narratives of all time. It does not relly on jumps scares but instead scares you psychologically with the very sinister Pyramid Head and a cruel protagonist as you find out throughout the course of the story. Up to this date, I have never found a protagonist as thought-provoking as this one and an antagonist more symbolic than Pyramid Head. The rest of the cast also played their roles in the plot to perfection. Another thing that is praise-worthy is the puzzles. They really made you use your brain to the limit.

    I was really close to giving this a perfect rating, but there is one element holding it down. The combat is not deep. You just hit and shot stuff in a sluggish way. I think it fits the character as he is just a desperate guy in a nightmarish city trying to fight for his life with no training or experience whatsoever. But still, a video game is not just about the atmosphere, immersion, story, and music. The gameplay is always a very important factor. The puzzles and exploration were very polished but the combat was not. Making this a 9.5/10 and not the perfect 10/10.    … Expand

Para resumir si no has jugado este juego que esperas te pierdes de una experiencia unica en la cual sientes el verdadero terror y pones en accion tu intelecto con sus acertijos.… Expand

    El juego cuenta con unos excelentes graficos para su epoca, la jugabilidad se mantiene como en el primero, claramente los graficos mejoran mucho, tambien tiene el personaje mas mitico de la saga y de los videojuegos de terror en general "Piramyd Head" o "Cabeza de Piramide" Este juego aumentara el nivel de terror añadiendo un toque melancolico, la banda sonora es proporcionada por el maestro Akira Yamaoka el cual hizo un gran trabajo añadiendo mas melancolia con su temas sonoros.

    Dendremos personajes con historias la cual conoceremos como vayamos transcurriendo en el juego, el tiempo del juego en general es aceptable, ni muy largo ni muy corto, los puzzles no van a ser tan dificiles como el mitico piano del primer juego, hay una cantidad muy buena de armas y cada final que saquemos siempre va a coincidir con la historia que nos haya contado el juego (Exceptuando el final ovni y el final del perro)

    Definitivamente un maravilloso juego, con una gran historia, con unos de los mejores temas sonoros de la hitoria de los videojuegos, unos personajes muy carismaticos y definitivamente el mejor Silent Hill de todos (En mi opinión)    … Expand

    Silent hill 2 is truly a masterpiece beyond it's years. The unforgettable and chilling atmosphere, the uneasiness and discomfort constantly present, the perfect soundtrack, and the heartbreaking endings. 20 years later, and this game still holds up today.

    Una obra de arte **** juego, se ha dicho todo relacionado respecto a esta obra que ha inspirado a muchos en diferentes ramas artísticas. Además de contar con una tremenda banda sonora que hasta el día de hoy puedes escuchar como la primera vez. Un juego que merece un remake al igual que la primera entrega. Sin dudar Silent Hill 1 y 2 son obras que merecen una nueva versión para estos tiempos.

SH2 does what all good sequels mean to accomplish: keep what made the original great while also expanding upon it and even fixing issues that the original may have.

    Silent Hill 2 was the first in the series to introduce the concept of Silent Hill as not just a town, but a mood. To have characters get drawn into this world based upon the personal demons of the people that enter it, and each one who does has a different experience. The story centers around James Sunderland, an everyday guy who travels to the desolate resort town in search of his wife. The problem, though, is that his wife has been dead for some time, but only just now was James given a letter written by her. So, James decides to go and get some answers. The game's story is incredibly dark, dealing with plenty of disturbing and mature themes, meeting characters that have their own issues and demons. Each of the monsters in the game is even specifically designed in a symbolic way that you wouldn't immediately get on a first playthrough. What makes the story particularly effective is the general uncanniness of the performances. Objectively, a lot of the voice acting would be considered bad, but in context of the surreal environment it helps add to the tone and atmosphere. Speaking of which, this game has a positively stellar presentation. The lighting and griminess of the game is pitch perfect, and it still stands as one of the best looking games on the system. On top of it all is its great sound design and stellar soundtrack.

    Like the first game, SH2 is a survival-horror game where you explore different environments, collecting key items, solving puzzles and fending off different creatures. It's structured like a Resident Evil game, but with much less emphasis on combat and more on puzzle solving. The combat was certainly never the series' strong suit. It's incredibly clunky and there's not much reward in defeating them besides getting them out of the way. Of course, James isn't a trained operative so he's not gonna have much combat prowess. Luckily, it's pretty easy to avoid most encounters, and if you are pretty explorative you'll find more than enough ammo and health pick ups. One of the best features of this game is that it has separate difficulty levels for both puzzles and combat, so the game can be as straight forward or obtuse as you'd like it to be. There are also multiple endings that you can obtain by meeting certain requirements on subsequent playthroughs that range from depressing to hilarious.

    SH2 is perhaps the definitive horror experience for the PS2. It's regarded as a classic for good reason. If you want to get into the series, you start here. A must have for horror buffs.    … Expand

En mi opinión el segundo mejor Silent Hill, la historia es muy buena, llena de simbolismos, los recuerdos que me traen de aquellos días de invierno cuando lo jugué en mi PlayStation 2 son muy nostálgicos, los soundtracks a manos de este increíble compositor llamad Akira Yamaoka nos trajo temas tan buenos como Theme Of Laura, Promise, Love Pslam, y ni qué decir del increíble trabajo que se hizo en la atmósfera tanto gráfica como musicalmente, adicional a ello la interpretación en las voces es realmente buena, en lo personal estuve a punto de llorar cuando leía y escuchaba la carta. Sin duda quisiera volver a ver un nuevo Silent Hill tan bueno como este y más en años donde aveces es muy difícil encontrar un juego realmente bueno.… Expand

    Easily one of if not the greatest horror games of all time. The combat is super clunky of course with a Silent Hill game but this MF is such a masterpiece in horror and storytelling IT DOES NOT MATTER.

The game has a superb spook factor and the one with the baker guy is sooooo much better. There are so many memorable quotes. Like "How can you lay there and eat pizza." A dificuldade do jogo é extremamente balanceada, sua gameplay faz jus ao contexto do personagem em sua jornada, controlando uma pessoa comum, sem experiências com armas de fogo e que subitamente se vê preso a um universo novo e assustador. Personagens carismáticos, profundos e bem desenvolvidos emUma das experiências mais assustadoras, imersivas e interessantes que tive com jogos na vida. A dificuldade do jogo é extremamente balanceada, sua gameplay faz jus ao contexto do personagem em sua jornada, controlando uma pessoa comum, sem experiências com armas de fogo e que subitamente se vê preso a um universo novo e assustador. Personagens carismáticos, profundos e bem desenvolvidos em um ambiente macabro e bem estabelecido com sua mitologia própria e trilha sonora simplesmente perfeita. Not even Metal Gear Solid or other masterpiece series. Silent Hill 2 is probably best game ever made in entire univere. Too much detail in game.
    Example: Mary was sick at hospital and monsters are inspiration from her. When the monster spread acid this was the Mary's bad words when she and James was at Hospital.. or The Nurses are James fantazy flirt things back in hospital. And of course Pyramid Head. He is the make James suffer. And Maria final boss. When she start choke James this was Maria pain at hospital. Like I said too much detail.And after 20 years some players finding something. Awesome Game. Awesome Soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka awesome graphics.

    Este juego es el ejemplo de como tener una gran Narrativa y buenos personajes y a la vez una perfecta banda sonora sin duda el mejor videojuego de terror d3e todos los tiempos una JOYA departe de konami. Tambien hay que felicitar a Akira Yamaoka por el trabajo que impuso en la Hermosa Banda sonora del videojuego.sus Personajes son Unicos y la verdad me encanto

    EL mejor juego de terror. Con un gameplay muy desfasado silent hill 2 se mantiene vivo gracias a una de las mejores historias contadas en un videojuego. Con una trama intrigante con giros de guion muy buenos y unos personajes muy bien dirigidos, no e de olvidarnos de sus enemigos imponentes y perfectamente creados hacen de la segunda entrega de la saga la mejor.

    The game is absolutely perfect in every single thing.

    The music made by Akira Yamaoka is perfect during the entire experience and it helps to make a very good atmosphere for the game.

    The story is very good, i didn't expect that plot-twist at the very end, i just don't have enough words to describe how many emotions this game make me feel, it's just the bes horror game i have ever played.

    What a amazingly horrifying and straight creepy game! The final act is bone chilling and hugely satisfying with a equally sad and hopeful ending. A story this good was complemented perfectly adding its ambient music collection.

    Silent Hill 2 is not for the faint hearted. The oppressive and often surreal atmosphere created by the beautiful story, absolutely consistent graphics and excellent sound is best suited for gamers who are looking for a game that can blur the lines between virtual reality and fiction.

    This game is honestly, a slow-paced walk into the abyss, as places become more twisted and people sink into their own guilt.

    Just like Silent Hill explored Alessa's terrible past and tried to represent her feelings through monsters and environment, Silent Hill 2 dives into James' anguish, and sins.
    Almost everything is somehow connected to James' past, and how he feels about things he did.

    Gameplay-wise, I honestly liked it, except for the extremely messy camera angles and controls; but overall, the exploration and item search of Silent Hill always satisfied me enough to keep me from lashing out on other very annoying points of its gameplay.

    As we're getting a little more into technical aspects, I'd like to congratulate this game's graphics; it's still so beautiful to look at, somehow to this day, and there were basically no bugs or glitches. It plays very well.

    And all of this, of course, is backed by master artist Akira Yamaoka, and his incredibly amazing series of original soundtracks; this has got to be one of the most amazing things about this franchise.

    Silent Hill 2 proudly waves its horror banner, and has the power to scare without jump-scaring, which is honestly, a hard feat to accomplish. Its story will try its best to haunt you.

    Between the two, I prefer the first one, but the second entry deserves its recognition for its incredibly mature story and rather bold take on some themes. It probably stands side by side with the greatest horror experiences.

    A VERY GOOD game.

    The special edition comes with "Born From a Wish", which focuses on Maria just a little before she meets up with James. She explores a really creepy haunted house, as she tries to help a Silent Hill resident, whose family was taken from him.

    I liked this extra content, but it honestly left me with more questions than answers, on both the main plot and it's own little plot. It was good while it lasted, though; around two hours max.    … Expand

    Problaby the best survivor horror that i've ever played, the story, the lore and the enemies are perfects. The puzzles, as a Silent Hill game, are hard and pretty good. And i have no words for the Pyramid Head, one of the coolest bosses ever.

Les recomiendo jugar esta obra en PC con la versión enchanced edition para una experiencia mejorada con buenos gráficos y sonido.
    En general, me parece un obra brutal aunque un poco corta y que en ocasiones, no te llega a explicar las cosas tal y como son, si no que las deja para que tu mismo saques tus propias teorías.

    This games story is remarkable. A deep and amazingly well constructed story. Great environments and puzzles. However, the enemy design is lacking which ruins some of the game for me. The controls are also a major flaw.

    A masterpiece, I love the atmosphere that it manages to create together with the soundtrack and the artistic direction, the story is excellent, although at first the plot is not very convincing, it ends up taking shape as the story unfolds. And as for terror, it manages to be scary even in empty corridors where there is absolutely nothing.

I dropped the game after i find a girl with knife because i didn't want to seek a 5 items for finishing a puzzle. I can't imagine enjoy thisIdk who really likes this game.     Fun story: In hospital location after pyramid head hitted me on the roof i lost Maria. I thought someone kidnapped her. But actually i was entering wrong door whole time XD. After i finish the game i'll gonna edit this review. Also i have some sort of problem with items. Some of them is invisible. Maybe this is a issue of emulator but this is really makes game hard. This forcing me to press X button at every empty desk. (Music is really nice)

    I get that its the first game to do true psychological horror, so I'll give it credit for that. But it has to lose points for the twilight zone dialogue, mediocre level design and horrific controls. Even the story, I have to say, was rather predictable. The enemy design and how it ties into your guilt is definitely a really good concept, and revolutionary for the genre.

    It is so deep that almost every last little detail, from a wall's wallpaper, to a whisper that's just barely audible, and a radio's seemingly random burst of static, all has a profound and revealing reason to be there

    The gameplay feels stiff and enemies are repetitive because there is so many of them. The combat is tedious. So what's left? The story. Well, it is even worse than gameplay. So the story is about a man who comes to the town controlled by monsters, looking for his dead wife. Plot twist: his wife is indeed dead. And that's what this game is about - ensuring that your wife is dead... pretty exciting, right? There is no explanation why the town is in this state, no narrative that would add to the dread and fear that was present in other horror games I've played. In the end you find a letter, a confirmation that she is dead and you feel like you wasted 10+ hours playing this.

    Some areas are scary and for that I give this game 4 points.

    There is a ton of better horrors than this but I personally recommend Fatal Frame 1/2/3 (use PCSX2 + texture mods) and SOMA.    … Expand

    Quite simply, mature PS2 owners craving a creepy game that's perfect for playing with the lights out and speakers cranked, pick up a copy of Silent Hill 2 and you will not be disappointed. Clean underwear not included.
