    Una experiencia de terror interesante dónde se mes clan elementos narrativos de amor, abuso, depresión,temas suicidas, etc.Una historia que le da un significado a casi todo lo que te encuentras, los enemigos, acertijos,la música y los personajes que una se encuentra, la música es otro aspecto que es perfecto en el juego Akira yamaoka sabe que piensa musical usar el un punto adecuado. Los finales que tiene son interesantes pues tres de estos reflejan como el mismo jugador elijo jugar, no por medio de decisiones si no por como te empezaste en la aventura y los otros 3 son más por querer saber más de su universo. El aspecto del terror también se mantiene con momentos oscuros o de persecución que tenemos o los sonidos que nos hacen creer que a veces hay algo con nosotros. Simplemente este juego me enamoro de inició a fin y esperemos que su remake le haga justicia a esta obra maestra, si te interesa probar la versión del PS2 haslo talvez sientas lo mismo que muchos o no.… Expand

    Idk who really likes this game. I heard that is a good horror game, A game with gameplay like: Find a **** in giant location and this not marked on map. After that go back to your first location and on your way a millions of cockroach will enrage you. I dropped the game after i find a girl with knife because i didn't want to seek a 5 items for finishing a puzzle. I can't imagine enjoy thisIdk who really likes this game.     P.S. I tried to play it again and now im at boat location. Actually after first location this game is not so bad! First location is piece of sh it but after that this game become more interesting and fun! ( But fighting mechanics is still bad /: ) Story becomes more interesting every minute.
    Fun story: In hospital location after pyramid head hitted me on the roof i lost Maria. I thought someone kidnapped her. But actually i was entering wrong door whole time XD. After i finish the game i'll gonna edit this review. Also i have some sort of problem with items. Some of them is invisible. Maybe this is a issue of emulator but this is really makes game hard. This forcing me to press X button at every empty desk. (Music is really nice)

    P.S.S Finished the game... This is **** story masterpiece. I never maded so big mistake... I never played game like this... I'd liked to set 10/10 but gameplay and fighting is pretty bad.

    EL mejor juego de terror. Con un gameplay muy desfasado silent hill 2 se mantiene vivo gracias a una de las mejores historias contadas en un videojuego. Con una trama intrigante con giros de guion muy buenos y unos personajes muy bien dirigidos, no e de olvidarnos de sus enemigos imponentes y perfectamente creados hacen de la segunda entrega de la saga la mejor.

    Tengo 19 años y pocas veces había escuchado de silent hill. Pero este año me decidí a jugarlo por primera vez...Es una experiencia increíble, cada aspecto del juego esta muy bien cuidada. He terminado el juego y creo que me han faltado detalles por darme cuenta, a pesar de ser de las personas que buscan en cada cuarto y pasillo. Es una obra con una historia trágica y con muchas referenciasTengo 19 años y pocas veces había escuchado de silent hill. Pero este año me decidí a jugarlo por primera vez...Es una experiencia increíble, cada aspecto del juego esta muy bien cuidada. He terminado el juego y creo que me han faltado detalles por darme cuenta, a pesar de ser de las personas que buscan en cada cuarto y pasillo. Es una obra con una historia trágica y con muchas referencias a cosas que llegamos a pasar en algún momento de nuestra vida. El terror se hace presente no por jump scares, si no por un terror psicologico y ambiental, la sensacion que llegas a tener en repetidas ocasiones es desesperante (en el buen sentido) ya que logras esuchar ruidos muy inquietantes, ademas de que los enemigos presentan una apariencia desagradable (los enemigos no son tan duros, pero dan mucho miedo) Creo que de las cosas que mas me han encantado a sido la música, por dios, akira yamaoka es un DIOS. Les recomiendo jugar esta obra en PC con la versión enchanced edition para una experiencia mejorada con buenos gráficos y sonido.
    En general, me parece un obra brutal aunque un poco corta y que en ocasiones, no te llega a explicar las cosas tal y como son, si no que las deja para que tu mismo saques tus propias teorías.

    One of the best games in the genre of psychological horror. One of the best games in my personal rating in principle. It is not boring to play even in 2023. I look forward to the remake, I hope its creators will not let down the expectations of fans of this wonderful series of games.

    Silent Hill 2 is the pinnacle of the series. It's a bizarre and haunting horror masterpiece. And yes, it's even better than the first game. Graphically, it ranks up with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Xbox's Splinter Cell. This is a must play for fans of the spooky stuff. I would rate it with a 9.1 out of 10.

    The gameplay feels stiff and enemies are repetitive because there is so many of them. The combat is tedious. So what's left? The story. Well, it is even worse than gameplay. So the story is about a man who comes to the town controlled by monsters, looking for his dead wife. Plot twist: his wife is indeed dead. And that's what this game is about - ensuring that your wife is dead... pretty exciting, right? There is no explanation why the town is in this state, no narrative that would add to the dread and fear that was present in other horror games I've played. In the end you find a letter, a confirmation that she is dead and you feel like you wasted 10+ hours playing this.

    Some areas are scary and for that I give this game 4 points.

    There is a ton of better horrors than this but I personally recommend Fatal Frame 1/2/3 (use PCSX2 + texture mods) and SOMA.    … Expand

    Silent Hill 2 gets everything right about Horror. It knows exactly what to keep ambiguous and play up to the player’s imagination.
    It is so deep that almost every last little detail, from a wall's wallpaper, to a whisper that's just barely audible, and a radio's seemingly random burst of static, all has a profound and revealing reason to be there

    I get that its the first game to do true psychological horror, so I'll give it credit for that. But it has to lose points for the twilight zone dialogue, mediocre level design and horrific controls. Even the story, I have to say, was rather predictable. The enemy design and how it ties into your guilt is definitely a really good concept, and revolutionary for the genre.

    Just finished the game and loved it the last part of it made me cry. It was so amazing the story the music, I hate the puzzle, but I enjoyed all the other parts.
    palace of the game where I got stuck in so I had to use a walkthrough mostly because I get stuck because of the puzzles.
    But when you get hit by that sed characters and the voice acting that is still amazing that is old comes    Just finished the game and loved it the last part of it made me cry. It was so amazing the story the music, I hate the puzzle, but I enjoyed all the other parts.

    De los mejores juegos de terror que existen, todo es muy tétrico y eso es lo que hace meterte en la experiencia del juego. No he llegado a ver el final del juego, pero puedo ponerle un 10 porque ningún otro juego tiene tal esencia como el de este. La historia es bastante entretenida, tiene puzzles complejos pero divertidos (y creativos), la forma de los monstruos/bichos que habitan por laDe los mejores juegos de terror que existen, todo es muy tétrico y eso es lo que hace meterte en la experiencia del juego. No he llegado a ver el final del juego, pero puedo ponerle un 10 porque ningún otro juego tiene tal esencia como el de este. La historia es bastante entretenida, tiene puzzles complejos pero divertidos (y creativos), la forma de los monstruos/bichos que habitan por la ciudad son realmente perturbadores. Desde mi punto de vista este juego te puede dejar con muy malas sensaciones por el trasfondo de la historia y por el ambiente que hay en el juego, pero de eso trata un juego de terror. Nadie puede comparar este juego contra otro porque el terror psicologico de este, es sin duda, de los mejores de la historia de los videojuegos. Por otra banda, está la banda sonora, que es completamente buena y pega con el ambiente del juego, alguna de las mas destacables son "promise (reprise)", "True" o "Heaven's Night". Todo de 10… Expand

Tiene todo lo que yo busco en un juego de terror: Historia llamativa, personajes interesantes, monstruos memorables, una buena banda sonora, excelente atmósfera y momentos incomodos pero bien ejecutados.     A masterpiece, I love the atmosphere that it manages to create together with the soundtrack and the artistic direction, the story is excellent, although at first the plot is not very convincing, it ends up taking shape as the story unfolds. And as for terror, it manages to be scary even in empty corridors where there is absolutely nothing.

    Silent Hill 2 is not for the faint hearted. The oppressive and often surreal atmosphere created by the beautiful story, absolutely consistent graphics and excellent sound is best suited for gamers who are looking for a game that can blur the lines between virtual reality and fiction.

    This games story is remarkable. A deep and amazingly well constructed story. Great environments and puzzles. However, the enemy design is lacking which ruins some of the game for me. The controls are also a major flaw.

    No doubt this is a remarkable experience; although I don't find it to be as scary as people say it is, it's still very haunting, depressive and has an insanely well-built atmosphere surrounding its rather interesting characters; Eddie, Maria, Angela, and of course, our main guy, James.

    Speaking of James, this story is mostly about him, as he meet other people, and searches for his late    No doubt this is a remarkable experience; although I don't find it to be as scary as people say it is, it's still very haunting, depressive and has an insanely well-built atmosphere surrounding its rather interesting characters; Eddie, Maria, Angela, and of course, our main guy, James.

    Speaking of James, this story is mostly about him, as he meet other people, and searches for his late wife, who's been dead for three years, yet somehow sent him a letter in her handwriting, asking if he could come visit her on their favorite spot, located in Silent Hill.

    This game is honestly, a slow-paced walk into the abyss, as places become more twisted and people sink into their own guilt.

    Just like Silent Hill explored Alessa's terrible past and tried to represent her feelings through monsters and environment, Silent Hill 2 dives into James' anguish, and sins.
    Almost everything is somehow connected to James' past, and how he feels about things he did.

    Gameplay-wise, I honestly liked it, except for the extremely messy camera angles and controls; but overall, the exploration and item search of Silent Hill always satisfied me enough to keep me from lashing out on other very annoying points of its gameplay.

    As we're getting a little more into technical aspects, I'd like to congratulate this game's graphics; it's still so beautiful to look at, somehow to this day, and there were basically no bugs or glitches. It plays very well.

    And all of this, of course, is backed by master artist Akira Yamaoka, and his incredibly amazing series of original soundtracks; this has got to be one of the most amazing things about this franchise.

    Silent Hill 2 proudly waves its horror banner, and has the power to scare without jump-scaring, which is honestly, a hard feat to accomplish. Its story will try its best to haunt you.

    Between the two, I prefer the first one, but the second entry deserves its recognition for its incredibly mature story and rather bold take on some themes. It probably stands side by side with the greatest horror experiences.

    A VERY GOOD game.

    The special edition comes with "Born From a Wish", which focuses on Maria just a little before she meets up with James. She explores a really creepy haunted house, as she tries to help a Silent Hill resident, whose family was taken from him.

    I liked this extra content, but it honestly left me with more questions than answers, on both the main plot and it's own little plot. It was good while it lasted, though; around two hours max.    … Expand

    SH2 is one of the few games that I completely underestimated on the first try. In fact, I had to read through fan reviews to realize what this game was all about. The awkward controls and the seemingly endless back-and-forth tarnish the enjoyment of the game in my opinion, but it's still mind-blowing.

    Problaby the best survivor horror that i've ever played, the story, the lore and the enemies are perfects. The puzzles, as a Silent Hill game, are hard and pretty good. And i have no words for the Pyramid Head, one of the coolest bosses ever.

SH2 a certains de ces éléments : L'ambiance est opressante, les musiques d'embiances sont réussies (l'ost de "under water" est chelou). Les éléments horrifiques sont présents aussi, avec zéro jumpscares, ce sont juste les enemis qui roam, qui m'ont fait parfois bien flipper. Leur gueule est quasi indescriptible, c'est tellement chelou mais j'adhère. Quand à la narration, c'est bien et pas bien, le perso se croit à Disneyland Parc, il est naïf et presque sans émotion. L'histoire des persos à côté sont ok. Fin je veux dire, Billy il a buté quelqu'un, il se fait torturer par la ville parce qu'il se croit innocent. C'est la même chose pour l'histoire principal. Le perso bute sa meuf, il se fait torturer par la ville parce qu'il ne veut pas se l'avouer. C'est juste ok pour moi. Le gameplay ne vaut pas grand chose, c'est ma première impression, et c'est resté jusqu'à la fin, je contrôle un gars de 30 ans ou un handicapé ? Ensuite les puzzles consiste en fait à aller chercher dans toute la map un objet, puis l'activer, il y a eu trois puzzles de réflexions.     What a amazingly horrifying and straight creepy game! The final act is bone chilling and hugely satisfying with a equally sad and hopeful ending. A story this good was complemented perfectly adding its ambient music collection.

    Silent Hill 2 isn't just a good survival horror, it's a deep psychological dive into the minds of disturbed characters, a masterclass in subjective imagery, a horrifying story to uncover and a stunning work of sound and music.

    One thing that needs to be absolutely praised here is how this game uses sounds, noises, music and ambient songs to scare and soothe the experience. Not only every single noise, and even silent moments, is masterfully used in the right moment to put you in the mood that it wants you to feel, but it also packs a modest, immersive and beautiful soundtrack.

    But sound design isn't Silent Hill 2's only key feature. The writing is interesting, level design is near flawless, pacing keeps you tense, the eerie voice acting fits the atmosphere, the dark graphics are nerve-racking and even the puzzles stand out.
    Not to mention the story. In its own unique and subjective way of capturing your attention and desire to keep going, James Sunderland's melodic and frightening tale manages to tell one of gaming's deepest stories. It even manages to pay off with its 6 different endings.

    The only bad aspect about Silent Hill 2 is that the gameplay is outdated. There's no running away from it. It may still hold up better than most survival horror games out there, but it's undeniably stiff and clunky.
    The camera sucks, tank controls are harsh, movement is too rigid, animations may feel a bit off during cutscenes and MY GOD the combat is bad. I know that the game's clunkiness adds up to its horror-factor, but the combat is just not fun.

    The good thing though, maybe compesating to SH2's outdated mechanics, is that the experience is VERY scary. It messes with your eyes, ears, reflexes and perceptions. Even here, in 2021, this game is still one of the scariest and most intense games ever made, in my opinion. It not only does right by the genre, but by video game design as art.

    If you somehow get your hands in this game, whether it's on a PS2, PC or even on the inferior HD remaster, you're in for a memorable experience. One for a lifetime. Especially if you're a survival horror fan.

    The music made by Akira Yamaoka is perfect during the entire experience and it helps to make a very good atmosphere for the game.

    The story is very good, i didn't expect that plot-twist at the very end, i just don't have enough words to describe how many emotions this game make me feel, it's just the bes horror game i have ever played.

For many this created the feeling of depth in a story (Like the TV show Lost or Neo Genesis Evangelion for example where you see at the ending that they had no road-map for the story / conclusion). However the story is still really good with some layers that added depth. Back to the review. The prequel was a remarkable game that impressed many gamers and critics alike. This put the bars higher for any sequel. Luckily it delivers and it is also a classic of survival horror genre. In contrast to the Resident Evil games it is focused more on psychological horror and deep atmosphere. It succeeds as it has the same haunting atmosphere as the prequel and feeling of dread while the gameplay is also really good. The story starts when protagonist James Sunderland went to Silent Hill after he mysteriously received a letter from his already deceased wife Mary from there. When he enters the city he experienced a nightmare and is confronted with his past. The story is magnificent and will surprise you as it is unique. It is immersive and entertaining but like I said some things are a bit indirectly told which can be a negative for others. Of cause there are multiple endings depending on you including a crazy funny one (The prequel started this). The haunting atmosphere returns and of cause they added the radio too. The static noise warns you when enemies are near which increases the dread and fear of what is lurking in the darkness, fog or unseen areas. I say the atmosphere is the bread and butter of the franchise and was for me the unique selling point. The characters were great with James Sunderland who has more facets than it seems. I make the same decision as for the prequel here to not spoil the other characters. I say I like them and especially the ambiguity. Gameplay wise it is good solid survival horror. You have to manage scare ammunition and healing items on your way through the story. Also there are puzzles and obstacles to overcome. It was really enjoyable and kept me going as I want to see all endings (without YouTube;-). Presentation wise like the prequel the graphic was really good back then and aged well. Of cause it is nowhere near modern standards but this would not be a fair critique. The soundtrack is excellent and I will praise it. The art style is again disturbingly good and many monsters of the franchise are well know even outside the player base. Overall this was a really good experience. It barely misses the 10/10 mark for me and I can clearly see why others like it more. I would fully recommend the first 3 games in the franchise as these are the peak performance. The later games are not that good and sadly the franchise is dormant since P.T. was canceled.… Expand

    Easily one of if not the greatest horror games of all time. The combat is super clunky of course with a Silent Hill game but this MF is such a masterpiece in horror and storytelling IT DOES NOT MATTER.

Anyway...

    The music is simply excellent so if youre like me and love to listen to games OST youll find some good stuff here. Voice acting tho, not so much, bruh do you even voice act? no, im just a random dude that wasnt even applying for the job but i got it because i was the live incarnation of the main character of the game according to the devs so they gave me the part. But youre so believable because you dont sound fake like a professional voice actor, in fact the professional got mad at you when you were making the game, wow. Got into a tangent there but this game will throw you for a pretzel loop you wont get out of easily.

    Una obra de arte **** juego, se ha dicho todo relacionado respecto a esta obra que ha inspirado a muchos en diferentes ramas artísticas. Además de contar con una tremenda banda sonora que hasta el día de hoy puedes escuchar como la primera vez. Un juego que merece un remake al igual que la primera entrega. Sin dudar Silent Hill 1 y 2 son obras que merecen una nueva versión para estos tiempos.
