    this game is amazing it has great game play the story is awesome many good bosses you can upgrade your weapons and buy new ones and there's bonus games which allows you to unlock new weapons and the professional mode (hard mode) and new customs too you'll play it lot of times

    Resident Evil 4 en mi opinión, es el mejor de la saga, y un muy buen juego en si, con muy buenos gráficos, variedad de armas, rejugabilidad, duración considerable y buenos controles a diferencia de los juegos originales.     -Resident Evil 4 was special game on its decade because it added an "over the shoulder" third person camera . This mechanic differences this game from the previous ones, The most part of the game is action, there are more enemies and you need this shooter mechanic. In my opinion what makes this game worse is that there aren't so many puzzles as in other resident evil games. This gameplay in our time is not a great thing , but at that time it was really innovative. I still loving it's gameplay even being a bad decision in the saga.
    The aim with the red dot for me it's a cool mechanic that is different from other third person shooters. There are parts where there are puzzles and that it's nice to keep some of the essence of the saga.This game also includes a very common nowadays mechanic that consists in upgrade and customize your weapons thanks to the money (ptas) you gather from enemies.

    -The story of this game is so simple, the plot locates us after the incident of Racoon city, umbrella has "vanished" and suddenly the president's daughter disappeared. Leon S. Kennedy (the same police officer from RE2) he's an agent from the government that has the objective of rescue her.

    -All the events take place in Spain, where there is an infected cult called "Los Iluminados" alongside with "los ganados", the habitants of the village. Ashley Graham,the president's daughter is captured by the cult, and Leon must save her. Story could have been better, Spain is not well represented, is very different to the real country. Its habitants look like mexicans cause of their voice, and there are not any recognizable place from the real spain.

    -The characters are good, in general, most of them have their own personality and are interesting.Leon is a really funny character that is always joking, and also brave. RE2 fans love this character because of his haircut and aspect, is a very memorable character. Ada Wong also have a place in the story, and same as leon , character from RE2. She is a suspicious woman who is spying Leon to get information about the virus of "Las plagas". She is working for what remains of Umbrella Corporation. Lord saddler and Ramon Salazar are the two main villains on the game which are really nice. There is another new character called Luis Sera who is a really cool character and is easy to take it love.

    -to be a game of 2005 it has great graphics and also great sound effects, you can feel the atmosphere every moment in the game. The sound effects are really well designed, reloading the gun,shooting,impacts and more.(these are some examples of good sound effects of the game)

    -In general this game is great and entertaining, with some issues, but still great. This is a unforgettable adventure,no doubt.    … Expand

    Easily the best in the series to this day. Going into a third person root with new and creative elements such as a fun shooting mechanic, and intense frighting designs that kept me hooked 'til the very end.

    This is the pinnacle of gaming. My all time number one favorite game. Rarely do I go out of my way to 100% a game, resident evil 4 is definitely an exception. I have lost count as to how many times I have returned to indulge myself in this masterpiece over the years.

    Although the game changes the classic RE formula, it's forgiven for how well the game was made, from the atmosphere, to the gameplay, to the enemies... it might be lacking in the horror department, but that doesn't stop it from being a classic.

    I've been reviewing these games backwards because I'm weird like that, and after getting through RE6 and RE5, it's nice to get to a game I love and can just talk positively about, I also have some bones to pick with the general flack Ashley Graham gets so that'll be fun.

    Resident Evil was the second game to focus on a sole protagonist after RE1 and RE2 had duel protagonists, and where    I've been reviewing these games backwards because I'm weird like that, and after getting through RE6 and RE5, it's nice to get to a game I love and can just talk positively about, I also have some bones to pick with the general flack Ashley Graham gets so that'll be fun.

    Resident Evil was the second game to focus on a sole protagonist after RE1 and RE2 had duel protagonists, and where RE3 has Jill from the first game, RE4 has Leon from the second game, and where I much preferred Claire in RE2, Leon in this game places him just above Claire in my personal rankings, he's a badass, he's quick witted, he's hot and most of all, he's blonde... why is he blonde? He was a brunette in RE2, what happened? Does he dye it?

    Aside from Leon, Ada Wong also makes an appearance, and she mentions Wesker, there's also a character Jack Krauser who was in some spin-off game I haven't played because they're generally bad, anyway he's kinda cool, I like the way he calls Leon "comrade" in a very American accent, it's just funny to me. As for newcomers, there's best girl and presidents daughter Ashley Graham, fight me, Leon's helpful information lady, I don't know her job title, Hunnigan who only appears on the weird Codec thing, Luis Sera, the scientist who created this games virus, Las Plagas, turned redemption seeking good guy And finally the villains, Ramon Salazar, who is just a treat every time he's on screen, also has a super breakable boss fight if you just buy the rocket launcher just outside the boss room you can kill him in one shot, it's great. And Osmund Saddler, he's not quite as fun, but he's there too.

    Story wise, it's about Leon travelling to a vaguely Spanish town to rescue the presidents daughter, yes Leon works for the president now, no I don't think it's ever explained, maybe it is in that Krauser game, just don't think about it. Along Leon's journey he'll be met with all manner of weird zombie BS, and saying great one liners the entire time, he really approaches this high stakes mission like an action hero, and it is what makes this game for me, I love it. There's also some hidden mission stuff going on with Ada working for Albert Wesker after Umbrella went bankrupt after Raccoon City got nuked in the last game, yeah Umbrella got torn down offscreen, figured that would've been worth showing, but I guess not. And then there's the unresolved rivalry between Leon and Jack Krauser, again I don't know why, I'll play the game soon, maybe.

    Gameplay is kinda funky, see we've moved on from fixed camera angles of the original trilogy and moved into a free-ish camera, I say "ish" because the Leon still moves with Tank controls, it can take a minute to get used to but once you come to grips with it, it feels fine. Leon's shooting is done by aiming the gun, manually moving it over to where you want to shoot and shooting, it sounds really bad and clunky on paper, but in practice it's done very well, enemies are slow, have large windup times and very telling animations, and rarely, if ever, gank you, it's all very slow and methodical, like a dance... with guns and roundhouse kicks, it's great. The gameplay can definitely feel strange starting out, but it won't be long till you learn how to play and then you'll be punching weird infected Spanish villagers like it's no problem at all.

    Before I wrap this up, I want to take a moment to talk about Ashley Graham, and no, it's not to whine about her. Ashley is a good addition to the game, y'all are just bad at video games. Ashley often comes under fire for being "hard to manage" or "annoying" or that she "keeps complaining that I keep trying to look up her skirt with the sniper rifle"...No? just me? Ok. Point is, no the f*ck she isn't. Ashley can not defend herself and in combat situations she is a liability, so you PUT HER IN THE TRASH... No really, the game has dumpsters coincidentally located just outside of large fight areas, their express purpose is for you to put Ash inside where she is invulnerable and safe, and failing that, she stays directly behind you at all times, so when she gets hit, it means you messed up and would've taken that hit anyway, she just saved your negligent ass you ungrateful swine. Ash will never take damage unless you the player make a mistake, git good.

    With my rant concluded, we've come to the end of this review. Resident Evil 4 is a masterclass in action game design, great characters, entertaining writing, amazing boss fights, and a cheesy 80's action movies plot, with a few, aside from some low points here and there, and Leon's weird blonde hair, the game is perfect, an easy 10 in my mind, and a game I love going back to.    … Expand

    Resident Evil 4 definitely succeeded in achieving a game with extremely tense and challenging combat and bosses, a fantastic atmosphere, and a solid story while also incorporating some comedy elements.

    Ashley might have been extremely annoying to deal with but I think that played in the game's favor honestly. Certainly one of the greatest PS2 classics and still holds pretty well against    Resident Evil 4 definitely succeeded in achieving a game with extremely tense and challenging combat and bosses, a fantastic atmosphere, and a solid story while also incorporating some comedy elements.

    Ashley might have been extremely annoying to deal with but I think that played in the game's favor honestly. Certainly one of the greatest PS2 classics and still holds pretty well against the best modern time Resident Evil games. No wonder it is the community's favorite.    … Expand

This game is amazing: it has extremely wonderful gameplay mechanics that are satisfying and fun to play through all the time, with varied enemies and weapons seriously offering dozens of playthroughs worth for replayability. The story is cheesy but doesn't feel cheesier than a good action movie, and the graphics at the time were stylish and really helped create a blend of horror and action. The sections are rememberable and you can tell this game was perfectly crafted. Unfortunately, this port is really just not the most amazing version of the game with long loads, poorer graphics than the Gamecube version, and slowdown on the framerates but of course, I didn't notice this stuff until I actually grew up. If you are looking to play this game and get that retro feel I would recommend the Gamecube version, but this is still an amazing game. The PS2 version though is definitely the worst version with again, horrendous graphics and visual quality, really long loads for simply the inventory, and choppy framerates that hinder the gameplay quite a bit on this version.… Expand

The graphics are neither beatiful nor good, and the camera does not allow fluid movement. Because part of a game greatness is also measured by considering how has it aged, and considering it has aged bad, I will put it a 7.     Es un juego adictivo pero con una historia bastante básica y lineal. Pierde la esencia de ser un survival horror respecto a sus antecesores, pudiendo ser un excelente juego si se hubiese mantenido.

    RE4 has changed the gaming landscape forever. It was a such a blast to go through. I finished this game so many times than I can count. I love the change it brought to the series even tho it's a departure from the much beloved RE formula. But it was a revolution that was bigger than the RE franchise itself and I appreciate it for it. The additions to this version were great

    I seriously question why it took me this long to finally finish playing Resident Evil 4. I have certainly known about the game pretty much since its initial run and I have attempted to play it multiple times, but for whatever reason I just now decided to hunker down and finish it. Better late than never, and I'm glad I did. It can be easy to go into a game like this thinking, "Oh, it can'tI seriously question why it took me this long to finally finish playing Resident Evil 4. I have certainly known about the game pretty much since its initial run and I have attempted to play it multiple times, but for whatever reason I just now decided to hunker down and finish it. Better late than never, and I'm glad I did. It can be easy to go into a game like this thinking, "Oh, it can't be THAT good", because like, say, Ocarina of Time, everybody and their distant uncle has sung this game's praises over the moon for over 15 years, but no. RE4 really is an amazing achievement in modern gaming, and one whose influence is still clearly felt to this very day.

    Rookie cop turned government agent Leon S. Kennedy has been tasked with traveling to a remote European village in search of the President's missing daughter Ashley Graham. Immediately upon arrival, however, he is greeted by a hoard of blood-thirsty villagers, infected by a parasite known as Las Plagas. Now, in addition to rescuing Ashley, he'll need to put a stop to this virus and the people responsible for releasing it. If you thought that Resident Evil stories were campy and over-the-top before, RE4 full-out embraces its cheese. It is an incredibly dumb plot with lots of illogical, death-defying moments and cartoonish villains that, really, you can't help but enjoy. Even as schlock, there was a lot of love that went into making this work as evident by the solid, campy voice acting. The creators are fully aware of this, and thus you can appreciate this game for what it is. If you were ever worried about walking into this game without any prior RE experience, continuity isn't too big of an issue here and instead works well as a stand-alone horror action game.

    Speaking of action, this was one of the biggest changes made to RE's formula. The series had been leaning into this direction as early as RE2, but RE4 is the game that went full ham on the concept. While not the first game to utilize an over-the-shoulder 3rd Person perspective, this was the game that made it the standard. Structurally, it still is classic RE at its core. You still have tank controls, you explore the environment for items and ammo, solve the occasional puzzle and defeat a boss every so often. However, whereas you were encouraged to avoid enemies when necessary (and you are still encouraged to conserve ammo), RE4 wants you to obliterate everything and everyone. Most enemies you defeat drop valuable loot, like gold coins to purchase new weapons from the local merchant, ammo and other item pick-ups, and RE4's combat is immensely satisfying because of it. That, and it's always fun to stun your enemies, run up to them and give them a good old roundhouse kick to the face, and then follow up with slashes from your knife. You'll be squaring off against a good variety of enemies, from simple farmers, to machine gun-toting infected soldiers to whatever parasitic monstrosity you come across. While the bosses have a lot of spectacle, most are very simple to take down (and that's without using a rocket launcher on them). You'll be offered a wide variety of potent weapons that you can upgrade and just go to town with, and half of the fun was just seeing what new weapons will be available for you to try out. Once you are done with the main campaign there is still plenty more to do, like a couple of extra campaign modes and the Mercenaries mini-game. It would be an outright lie to say RE4 lacks value and content.

    While RE4 was certainly the most linear game in the series up to this point, exploration is still a key component. You'll be scavenging for not only ammo and healing items, but also for rare treasures to sell. Plus, it's just worth exploring just for the game's atmosphere. While not as handsome as the GameCube version, the PS2 version visually is no slouch. Puzzle solving, on the other hand, takes a massive backseat in favor of its action. If there are any real criticisms I have against this game, it would be the lax use of puzzles and the rather dated QTEs, but these are really minor marks against the game.

    The only other thing I can say about this game is that it really is as great as everyone says, and its no wonder this has been ported to darn near everything you can think of. This is an easy recommendation to anybody wanting to get into the series, and just for horror buffs and action junkies in general.    … Expand

    My favorite game in the Resident Evil franchise it's non stop action kept me on my toes the entire time and I loved the story. If it had real horror moments it would've been a 10 out of 10 game but I still give it a 9 for everything else.

    The game definitely doesn't meet expectations, the controls are confusing and the levels require gameplay techniques and a lot of attention that turn the game into something exhausting. Moreover, the character Ashley gets in the way of the story, since she always gets caught by zombies. The plot could be much more developed. Anyway, the game is very frustrating.

    This was my first Resident Evil. I never bought those before because I found them ugly but this was revolutionary at the time. A completely new control system, fantastic graphics and above all an engaging and quite long-lived story. Needless to say, I've been playing for a long time and squeezed my poor PS2.

It was my first game of the franchise and I absolutely loved it and got blown away. I played through it four times in a row, no break. Two times on normal, two times on pro. Bosses are great, enemy hordes make you sweat, opening the menu and inventory makes you catch breath and think about your next move, treasures are satisfying due to the combination possibility, every weapon feels useful in its own way and the game overall is a masterpiece in my opinion, hence the score of 9/10.     Some consider this game the GOAT for the franchise , and yes I agree that it is one hell of a game I dont think its the goat , not even leons best story , but this game gave us iconic characters , a great story and I think this was the first game to have the way better over the shoulder camera.     As a person who used to play this game back in the PS2 days i can confirm this was one of the best PS2 games i have ever played, even though it’s getting a bit out dated now but it’s still supreme in its level design, story telling, villains and game mechanics till this day

    A complete masterpiece. Gameplay is so addictive. So addictive you don’t even care about the mediocre story. The crappy dark lore makes up for it. So much content. So worth buying it for its price.
