    Why i fell i love with the PS2 system.
    I couldn't understand why The Great Ecape was more talked about than Revolution because Rayman Revolution is Rayman the Great Escape 2.0.
    The fact that i hope Ubisoft will remaster this one day (soon i hope), fills my hearth with joy. Would i say i am desperate enough to buy an old PS2 somewhere only to get the chance to play Rayman Revolution    Why i fell i love with the PS2 system.

    I have loved Rayman 2 since I was a child and it has always been my favorite platformer. So, when I got the chance to play this - allegedly better - version of the game, i was really delighted. And I have to say, the game did not disappoint me. The storyline is much better, there are more levels, more challenging enemies, more bosses and unique powers, characters get more time to shine,I have loved Rayman 2 since I was a child and it has always been my favorite platformer. So, when I got the chance to play this - allegedly better - version of the game, i was really delighted. And I have to say, the game did not disappoint me. The storyline is much better, there are more levels, more challenging enemies, more bosses and unique powers, characters get more time to shine, you have to buy upgrades, there are even several minigames and the whole game in general feels more coherent (such as the shell in Menhir Hills that jumped out with you through the Spiral Door in Rayman 2 and was nowhere to be seen afterwards can actually be found in the hub world here and serves a purpose). And I haven't even mentioned the graphical update which is mostly visible either in new levels or in remade portions or levels from Rayman 2 (e. g. Fairy Glade).

    This game is amazing. The levels are bright and colourful, the characters are unique and add purpose to the story, the music flawlessly manages to blow life into the levels, and the gameplay is simple and easy to learn.     Now, I've owned both the PS1 and the PS2 versions of this game and each one is good and unique in their own way. I'd say everyone should play the PS1/N64 era of the game first before trying out the Revolution remake simply because it's easier for new players and you don't have to overcome some trouble with pathfinding, which I had some trouble with during my first playthrough of Revolution.

    I'm not giving this game a PURE 10/10. There are some minor gameplay problems that I feel like shouldn't ruin this beautiful game. And they are very minor so you will barely notice them.
    In the PS1 version, the hang mechanic is too forgiving. You can fall slightly below a platform and still manage to grab the edge (The PS2 version fixes this making it more punishing and realistic). In both versions, mostly Revolution, the aim auto-lock has a short range when aiming at purple lums (swinging mechanic), and the framerate in the PS2 version could have been optimized better. I also only found audio issues regarding repeating audio loops of the missile sound effect in the PS2 version, which happened a couple of times but a save and restart fixes it.

    Other than that, this game is 100% recommended for any kid or an adventurous soul who enjoys a well put together playing experience. Rayman 2 is and will always have a place to stay in many people's hearts.    … Expand

    One of best platfrorm games ever! Great gameplay, nice visual, perfect audio (i like listening songs from this game also today). One small defect is that game sometimes "crash" in PS2 and in emulators.

    Realy addictive and you just can't stop (not talking about the first word I put up there you prev's) The games music rocks lots of lauguages to choose from (encluding Ramanish) and lots of entertainment. the problem it's the same one out for ps1 and 64 four only with an upgrade hear and there...

The first time I played Rayman 2: The Great Escape on my PC with my brother and cousin as a child, we were unable to move away from the computer. The world of Rayman amazed us and the style of the game was as unique as platformers get. I did not know about Rayman Revolution until 2006, when I stumbled into a gaming store and found a copy in good condition for a cheap price. It looked like a Rayman 2 port for the PS2, so I bought it and started to play it as soon as I got the chance.

    And then, I did not get what I was expecting. I got something even better. Revolution isn't just a port, it's a massive upgrade to the original Rayman 2, with an explorable hub, multiple new levels, proper English voices (even though you can still choose gibberish) and a improved graphics and sounds. The game, in my opinion, is massively better than any other version of Rayman 2. It's one of a kind, and if you have a PS2, I'm jealous because mine is broken and I can't play this wonderful game again.    … Expand

    As I have been a fan of the Rayman series for years, and have already finished The Great Escape more than once (way more than once (; ) I've always wanted to give a try to Revolution, because I figured    (This is mainly a comparison to the original Rayman 2)
    Sort of a Rayman 2 Remaster before remasters were in fashion, which means it's actually quite good (although not necessarily better),
    As I have been a fan of the Rayman series for years, and have already finished The Great Escape more than once (way more than once (; ) I've always wanted to give a try to Revolution, because I figured it has a different content and also the whole texts were dubbed... So , curiosity got over me.

    Unlike present 'remasters' the graphics here are identical but the title is purely focused on the actual content of the game. Revolution makes plenty of changes to the original game although the main essence is still the same. Many of the original levels are still here but have one change or another, some are almost identical but some are almost completely different. There are some new levels as well and tiny number of sections which were removed completely from Revolution.

    Some new gameplay aspects: There are many new Bonus levels which can grant you more health, you can now "purchase" "upgrades" to your current powers (very optional and I totally beat the game without it), the worlds hub is now an "open world" unlike the linear one in the original version, where you can roam around and find even more lums hanging around to collect, Oh, there's also a Lums Detector in a late stage of the game for your use.
    Also there seemed to be an attempt to be slightly more combat focused on this version, since there are much more Boss levels, and when you encounter Pirates you'd usually encounter a couple and not just one or two, also, there are many more "types" of enemies than in the original game.

    This is all very well and nice, mostly. You could notice choppy FPS at some sections of the game which is a shame. The combat focused gameplay isn't necessarily essential to this game which has a lot of focus on platforming already, boos fights could be rather out of context in here, the tweaked soundtrack is at times pretty good but sometimes is just a strange mix of noises andor tracks from the original version. Also, the voice overs didn't actually add much to the game's spirit and weren't so good, and some would probably say the game is better off with the "Raymanian" mumblings instead of actual speech.

    Oh well, so Revolution does have some faults. But as you may have noticed I'd still given it a 9, because even with some minor faults it is still one of the most brilliant platformers ever made in my opinion, it doesn't fail to be fun and to be a worthy title of the series to stand on its own rather than being a simple 'remake'

    My recommendation is to play this as well as TGE PCPS1GC versions for a complete experience, because they pretty much complete each other, each version presents different variations and aspects of the game, and both are awesome!    … Expand

This all does feel gnostic, pseudo-religious, in how the vitality of lums is misplaced in a broken universe. And story aside, the visuals and gameplay are really animated like its swings, rocket-POV, helicopter-like flying and its stone henge reminiscence with its portals and Globox monks.… Expand

The story is pretty much the same as Rayman 2 but there are a couple of new things in the PlayStation 2 version. Some of the levels have been redesigned and enhanced from the other console versions of Rayman 2 there is no longer a map screen to choose levels like the otherRayman Revolution is a great game. This is a great remake of an already great game (Rayman 2: The Great Escape). The story is pretty much the same as Rayman 2 but there are a couple of new things in the PlayStation 2 version. Some of the levels have been redesigned and enhanced from the other console versions of Rayman 2 there is no longer a map screen to choose levels like the other versions of Rayman 2; you get this free roaming hub to roam and choose levels and like the PlayStation version of Rayman 2 there is voice acting for the characters which is a nice touch. The graphics are colourful, each level has a different theme to it and the composed music is definitely one of the best things about this game. You also get a new level to try in this version. There are loads of game play mechanics like flick switches, fly with flying shells, attack robo pirates with orbs and battle your way through boss battles to reach the 4 masks to free Polokus. There are 3 new bosses as well in this version which are awesome to fight. The game is short though and every time you re-enter a level, the music doesn't play which is annoying. During your quest you meet a bunch ofRayman Revolution is a brilliant platforming game with lots of new features from its predecessor Rayman 2: The Great Escape (which is the original PS1 version of this game). The story is exactly the same as before, Rayman is captured and has lost all his powers but his friend Globox comes to the rescue and gives him his power to shoot with his first. During your quest you meet a bunch of new friends, including Ly who is the fairy that restores all of your powers along the way. Your job is to find all the lums, the four masks, break open all the cages and defeat Razorbeard, the robo pirate and main Antagonist of the game. The Henchmen (led by Razorbeard) are there to stop you and there are bosses you fight along the way. In this version however there are many new elements. For starters there is more free roaming and instead of just completing levels, you can also exchange lums for powerups and mini games (for up to 2 players) and tackle challenges in order to gain more life. Most of the levels are still the same but with different areas and there are a few new levels. The graphics have improved a lot, the colours, background and water is much more realistic and you can see the waves and grass moving with the wind. Frame rate is better, you can run around much quicker than on the PS1 version. The voice acting is back and you can have the option to choose between different languages including Raymanian, which is a new feature to the game where the characters supposedly speak in there own language (similar to the PC and DC version). The music is composed perfectly, each theme is right for every level and the sound effects are good as well. There are a few problems I have with this game though. Camera angels are sometimes a pain as you can't always look around depending where you stand. Sound issues i've noticed too can fault i.e. when you use your helicopter or charge your fist, you will hear the noise carry on and it won't stop unless you reset your console. Furthermore although there are some new changes, the game itself is still the same and I personally would have liked it if they could have changed it a bit more. Nevertheless Rayman Revolution is a brilliant plat former for all ages, but if you've already played it's predecessor Rayman 2: The Great Escape and are not really into remakes or improved versions, then you may want to pass on this.… Expand

    One of the best ports of all time that suffers some technical issues and bugs. Still it has great controlls, huge worlds to explore, excellent music and atmosphere so I highly recommend it if you have the PS2 (most likely you have) and you like action-adventure platformers.

    I honestly don't think this is as good as Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. the level designs are solid, Rayman controls tightly and is pretty responsive, and the game has a lot of variety, even if it's a mixed bag. Now for the bad parts: the story is WAY too dark and depressing. And that's never a bad thing, Dead Space did the same thing. but Dead Space is where you're fighting for you're life orI honestly don't think this is as good as Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. the level designs are solid, Rayman controls tightly and is pretty responsive, and the game has a lot of variety, even if it's a mixed bag. Rayman 2 is where you're playing as a weird...eggplant vegetable thing with no arms or legs. why try and make that serious and dark? also, the flying barrel missions are a bit antagonizing and the bosses are a joke (except for the final one).     Rayman Revolution is a game that is quite creative with it's level design and gameplay. This allows it to be a very enjoyable experience. The world of the game is one that is full of mysterious charm, and this atmosphere allows me to feel completely absorbed whenever I play the game. The atmosphere even reminded me of The Legend of Zelda at times, and that's definitely a good thing. TheRayman Revolution is a game that is quite creative with it's level design and gameplay. This allows it to be a very enjoyable experience. The world of the game is one that is full of mysterious charm, and this atmosphere allows me to feel completely absorbed whenever I play the game. The atmosphere even reminded me of The Legend of Zelda at times, and that's definitely a good thing. The setting and environments are large and interesting, begging to be explored. Several of the levels, like the swamp one, though, felt very sparsely designed for a platformer. There are large sections with not much going on.     I really wanted to like this game when i first tried it, but I couldnt. I remember it being too hard and unfair, very frustrating in general. I was a kid, so its probably not that hard. But i dont think i ever beat the game.

On Dreamcast and especially PC, this game is still a looker even today (9 years later) in my opinion. Even the N64 version ran without all the choppiness of this PS2 incarnation, and looked good considering the other platforms.     - The new voice acting has no character to it and robs the game much of its charm.
    - This version adds new levels and sections. These are varying in quality. Some are quite good while others seemed very poorly designed. There are also new mini game sections that quickly became tedious.
    In the ps1 version, each level seemed to have a unique feeling to it. The game continuously delivered iconic moments and situations, something Revolution fails to replicate.
    - Bad bonus levels.
    - Forced tutorials which were completely unneeded.

    All in all i was pretty disappointed with this remake. There were places were the old version could have been improved. But I can't recall a single change i felt was justified.
