I have no idea why this Parappa game has so bad reviews. I absolutely loved this game. Sure, it's very short, probably an hour long at most, but the replayability is fantastic. Beat the game five times and get the "gold" cap, the last one you can get. There's also some CPU challenges to beat, where you get an album if you complete them all.

The music is really addictive, the best in the Parappa series if you ask me. I've had every song stuck in my head, much like the songs from the original and Um Jammer Lammy. The timing is even better than the PS1 version and a lot easier to beat. The story is awesome as well. Weird, a little bit stupid, but funny and interesting.

This is one of the best rhythm games for the PS2 ever made together with "Gitaroo Man". Try this out, it will be a blast!

PaRappa the Rapper 2 is one of the few PS2 games that I find myself constantly sliding into my disc drive, even to this day. The music is catchy, the graphics serve their purpose, and the versus mode adds to its replay value, making it a great party game. Say what you will, but PaRappa 2 will always be one of my favorites.

I'm not sure why this game is looked down upon more than the original. Maybe it's blind nostalgia? Personally, I think the songs in this game are MUCH better than the original. Plus, this game speaks the truth. Noodles simply can't be beat!

Whilst being very short, I loved this game, one of those games that make me take the dust off my PS2.. and somehow manage to get me hooked on it.
It has very catchy music and raps, the kind that I always come back to listen again over and over.
The plot is nothing epic or something, but it's very funny and keeps you asking for more.

Parappa The Rapper 2 is a worthy follow up to the original game, but it won't drain your time for long and replay value is nearly non existent. The songs are great and the gameplay is greatly improved from the original, the graphics also stay true to the series and they look great for 2001. If you enjoyed Parappa The Rapper or Um Jammer Lammy, then you will no doubt love this game.

An unnecessary and cheesy, but nonetheless solid effort to relive a cult classic. Pros: The high res 2-D sprites are refreshingly old school; hilarious story and characters; additional Practice and Battle mode are handy. Cons: Too little, too short, too pricey; no replay value; some of the lyrical content is a bit too bizarre.

This game plays very similarly to the original PaRappa the Rapper but contains more songs, gameplay modes, and replay value in the way of unlockables and increasing difficulty. The graphics in this entry are also vastly improved, taking advantage of the Playstation 2's hardware. In the original game, the visuals during songs were extremely simple and barren. In this entry, however, stages are typically filled to the brim with interesting things to look at. In the way of music, I think this game knocks it out of the park. I understand that music is subjective, and many people disagree with me here, but I overall prefer the songs in 2 over 1. Both games have their good and bad songs, but I can at least say I like all the songs in PaRappa 2, and I can't say that about the first entry. I understand that a lot of people didn't like this game when it came out, and I can understand that. This game is s little janky, as was the first PaRappa. Both games use a unique scoring system where to get the best score, the player must freestyle by adding their own spin to the song. This system alienates many players because the game doesn't do an excellent job of explaining it, and even after you do understand it, it seems kind of luck-based either way. There is a way to get better at Parappa the Rapper; it just isn't very similar to other popular rhythm games out there. This kind of hate I understand, but I don't get how people can be fans of the first one and hate this one. In my book, this game improves on the original in virtually every way, so I suppose it just comes down to nostalgia and song taste.
To sum up, this review, if you are thinking about playing this game, go and watch someone play the song BIG on youtube. If you like what you see, you will probably like the rest of the game. At the time of me writing this, PaRappa 2 is 19 years old, and I'm hoping this game gets a remaster for its 20th birthday. Sony, please make a PaRappa 3 before I die PaRappa fans do exist.

Lets face it, you all played the demo a lot. It's fun catchy and I've seen it out for about £25. Which is a nice little price for a nice little game. Get it for your little sister to keep her silent for hours on end, just don't expect to get near you PS2 for ages!

An all right game, but nothing they couldn't have made for PSX. There's really nothing innovative here. Finished in about 2 hours. Rent once, and you'll be sated.

Say what you want about this game's story and music, but I don't care. This game will still stay in a special place in my heart. It's fun, humorous, and the multiplayer battle mode is one of the best things about it. I love the gameplay system of mixing the words. The music, while being quite cheesy, is actually VERY catchy. This game has lots of replayability, which is good since the game is so short. Even the songs change. Like I said, the multiplayer is my favorite part. It gets difficult and confusing, but that just makes it more fun. This game got some good laughs out of me while playing battle mode with my friends. The graphics have a unique style and a good way of working with the PS2's graphical limitations. I would recommend it to anybody who would like to have a good time and just play around and have fun with friends. I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews for this game. Some people are too critical when it comes to the game's weird story, but the story is actually quite entertaning. Even though the game is short, it makes up for it with the multiplayer. Replaying the story also gives you new colors of caps and can also unlock more difficult remixes of the songs and an album. Bottom line, this game is great for good clean fun and laughs. Definitely one of my favorite games. Expand

PaRappa the rapper is a wonderful game franchise, and I think PaRappa the rapper 2 did it better than the first. The songs are spunky and fun. I like the “Sista Moosesha” song the best. But the only bad thing about it was the ending song. He didn’t freestyle unlike the first. But that’s okay. The difficulty and songs makes up for it!

This game is pretty much perfect with very little to complain about. Unlike other rhythm games there's a lot of open-ended gameplay here as you can freestyle however you want, and the game has a lot of challenge as playing the game over and over increases the difficulty, alongside trying to reach the Cool rating which requires a lot of effort (or luck, whichever happens to come first). This game is pretty much perfect with very little to complain about. Every song is incredibly catchy and super easy to get invested in, with only one song being uninteresting to me and one being sort of "whatever". The only couple of things I dislike about the game is how it stops the rhythm every time you drop a rating and there's not too too much post game content aside from the increasing difficulty and getting a cool ranking to unlock records. Exact same premise as the original, but executed with a lot more care.

The story, visuals and music are plenty of wacky fun, even though they aren't much of an improvement on the first title. The game-play is what it is however, just hitting the button prompts. At least in this time around, the accuracy is a little more forgiving than the original. Plus, there is a lot more reward given

A small improvement as a sequel, but not much to add. It's a very niche game, however, sure isn't without it's charm.

Disregard this misalignment though, and you’re left with an enjoyable aural romp which, whilst slight and, on occasions, extremely forgiving, makes up for most of its shortcomings by hitting you with damn funky music.
  3. An almost total lack of innovation makes the game seem pretty dated when compared with other games on the market.
