    Story Flow is a little to sketchy. Other than that GREAT GAME TO BUY.

    This game is definitely flawed but Naruto fans will enjoy anyway, especially the ones looking for a good co-op experience. It's got it's own original story, several different modes and a good selection of fan favorite characters, but the game play is extremely flawed making this game an experience only enjoyable to the most hardcore of fans.     Despite what everyone says about this game, I personally enjoyed it quite a bit. It gave you a RPG-esque leveling system, which, while slow, helped you out as your levels remained the same after story mode.

    The missions were actually the most realistic I've seen. It's not the standard "help your neighbors with their trash" missions you'd see in something like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm    Despite what everyone says about this game, I personally enjoyed it quite a bit. It gave you a RPG-esque leveling system, which, while slow, helped you out as your levels remained the same after story mode.

    The missions were actually the most realistic I've seen. It's not the standard "help your neighbors with their trash" missions you'd see in something like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, or something like that. Nope, they're all combat based missions, which are a lot more enjoyable. Even the escort missions, which says a lot.

    The combat system, while not perfect, is a little satisfying, especially after you slowly gain levels. Nothing feels better than being able to spam shadow clones after *SPOILER ALERT* you unlock the infinite chakra *SPOILER OVER*.

    Unlockables? I won't give away much, but the game gives you a VERY good reason to replay the story mode a few times. All I'll say is that it gives you an additional story sequence, and an additional character that you may or may not like/hate.

    The item system is actually well thought out. Most items that you pick up ACTUALLY have a purpose. This, along with the equippable items (also well thought out) make it an enjoyable experience.

    Also, a boss mode. Yeah, they have that. It's pretty fun, and it's also one more mode than other Naruto games.

    Also, Co-op. Yep! Most things in the game allow co-op! It may not be the best, especially with camera angles, but the co-op battle mode itself is rather enjoyable.

    The only real negatives that I can think of, are your standard ones. One, the voice actors. *shudders*. Yeah, we have the standard whiny Naruto as usual. Can't be avoided. Luckily, skippable cutscenes (I think). Two, loading times. They are a little lengthy, but they let you do this little spinny thing with the loading wheel...look, it gives you chakra, alright?

    Also, the story mode has a story. Sort of. It's a little different, which could be a good thing.

    All in all, it is REALLY fun. I've played maybe 5-6 other Naruto games, and this one easily is the best out of all of them. I would highly recommend it.    … Expand

    The mission mode is probably my favorite mode of the game. There are a lot of missions to play through and judging by the rank a mission was assigned to (ie. A rank, S rank) they are pretty difficult. Unless you buddy up with a friend in Co-Op, then they might seem to be bit easier but still difficult.

    The Battle Mode feels slapped on. For starters, you get to play all the protagonists and antagonist of the game (with the exception of all boss characters.) From there you select your team leaders and his/her members to battle it out against your friends (btw 2 players are required for this mode). The stages are bland as balls and the fights can become repetitive, quickly.

    Survival Mode is a damn difficult mode where you battle against a crew of canonical characters (ie. Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto vs You) You need the skill to pay those tax bills, trust me.    … Expand

    Before I get into this review, I like to clarify that this is a first impression review. Like, I haven't really put that much time into it. I've probably put in like less than an hour on this game. But, just to let y'all know, I have played the first Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles game. In which, I adore it. That game has really good graphics, good gameplay, awesome skill chips system, coolBefore I get into this review, I like to clarify that this is a first impression review. Like, I haven't really put that much time into it. I've probably put in like less than an hour on this game. But, just to let y'all know, I have played the first Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles game. In which, I adore it. That game has really good graphics, good gameplay, awesome skill chips system, cool world map design. Just overall, I had a good time with the game. But, once I moved over to the next one, I was truly disappointed. 'Cause not only did they degrade the graphics but, they also put a lot more cutscenes in this game. While also making them a lot longer, too. In which, I'm not really a big fan of. I don't know about you guys but, I play videogames to play them. Not to just sit around & listen to a bunch of fictional characters talk to each other. That's not what I signed up for.

    And speaking of gameplay, the difficulty in this game is a joke. I understand that the original game had a big difficulty spike. But, in this game, they toned it down way too hard. Another issue is how they make you use Naruto's shadow clones to figure out a clue. Y'know, they be pointing at something to let you know where to inspect. And I really don't like that. Also, the allies are not that cool anymore.

    Awful gameplay, long cutscenes, TERRIBLE GRAPHICS. That's what really gets on my nerves for me. You may say the developers did that just so the PS2 can handle 2 players at once on the game. But, I find that to be a terrible excuse. 'Cause who the heck sacrifices good graphics just for 2-player gameplay? The last one didn't had one so, why should this one?

    Freaking ridiculous man. The game may get better overtime but, I'm not taking that risk. 'Cause first impressions always matter and they freaking flunked it. Very disappointing.    … Expand

    Now, with sharpened graphics, more features, and an original story, Uzumaki Chronicles is fine for fans of the series. But the battles are a little stiff, and the relationships between locations, characters, and events would be confounding to Naruto newbies. [Sept 2007, p.74]
