AceGamezEven though it might be over too quickly for platforming veterans, those who like action from the word go will find their long lost pal in Kao the Kangaroo 2. With an enormous and linear breath of fresh air feeling, this game puts the cool back in old school and will have most gamers jumping for joy for as long as it lasts!
-
Offers the full-package of challenge, entertainment, and reward. In its own unassuming way it delivers on the promise of a fun, family-friendly platformer. While this is no "Jak & Daxter," it’s no "Vexx," either.
-
The real problem is that it has been done so many times before that at some stages in the game you get that déjà vu feeling you played the same location, executed the exact move and experienced the same sequence of events but this time it’s a Kangaroo you are sharing it with and not another endearing character.
-
Just another average platformer, and by no means goes any further.
-
Although Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 seems to constantly offer up a new genre at every point the action might otherwise become dull and lifeless, there is a persistent feeling during play that the game never seems to stand on its own feet.
-
Kids thrive on new ideas, excitement and imagi-nation, and can easily handle complex situations and scenarios - none of which are on show here. Just because they’re young doesn’t mean they should make do with a bland, unimaginative, unchal-lenging and in parts quite shoddily finished effort.
-
End-of-area bosses helpfully announce their weaknesses at the beginning of encounters, coin-laden paths dot their way around levels, and there is always a mammalian helper ready and willing to explain the use of contraptions.
-
Kao's latest adventure isn't very innovative or challenging, but it is varied enough to hold a player's attention for an entire weekend.
-
Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 isn't the best choice for exposing anyone to the platforming genre for the first time, but for those seriously dedicated to the genre, this is a mildly fun weekend retreat.
-
While the design was obviously geared towards kids, Kao still lacks the necessary polish to be recommended, even at its price, and the overall difficulty may prove it to be a bit too harsh for its audience.
-
Whatever redeeming qualities Kao 2 might have, there is still no excuse for making a game that punishes the player for things beyond the player's control.
-
While Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2, is in no way a ground breaking game, it does offer a pleasant experience to gamers who will enjoy a game that brings back memories of past platformers.
