High Impact seriously?! Everything from the graphics,to the camera positioning to the range of movements and weapon ability is badly effected in this new game. They need to remake The Lost Frontier by Naughty Dog and continue the series the way its supposed to be,unbeatable, unbelievable and beautiful.C'mon Naughty Dog,keep it up! Jak and Daxter: One of the first games for the PS2, it had beautiful graphics unlike any other game seen before. The controls were tight, the music fit the mood and Daxter was entertaining. Jak 2: An obvious cash-in on the GTA craze sweeping the nation, but not bad. Music was fitting, controls were once again tight, the graphics were even better and Daxter was, again, amusing. Music was fitting, controls were once again tight, the graphics were even better and Daxter was, again, amusing. Jak 3: Best music, best dialogue, best graphics, best gameplay, best EVERYTHING. Jak X: The "black sheep" of the franchise, it was a fairly decent racing game. Graphics were at their prime, story was pieced together but still enjoyable, and Daxter was still enjoyable. Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier: Mediocre rip of a PSP game with lifeless voice-acting, inconsistent animation (Jak's shirt actually changes in one cutscene. Fail.), lifeless music. Major changes: Jak has a new voice actor. Keira's face has been rearranged . Daxter is very, very fluffy. Flying is a large part of the game now. Even compared to the racing game (which i'll admit to liking very much, actually) this game is a colossal failure, the furthest the franchise has fallen. It's one big cliche storm, the enemies are generic, everything is OFF. I'd go as far as to say this game is disgusting. The only part I liked at all (in fact, I loved it) was the flying; you could send Daxter to sabotage other planes! Very fun. But aside from that, this game is terrible. Fans will hate his game, and I can almost guarentee that. STEER CLEAR FROM THE LOST FRONTIER. Expand

This was a good but it's a Jak and Daxter game, and didn't have the same feel. The other Jak and dax games had a 3-D platforming game with a fun sandbox world and this game didn't have that. The characters are copy pasted from the other games with worse traits and where the F$%K are the light and dark powers! The games still good but not half as good as its predecessors

Everything down to the characters, the story, the movement, the artstyle, the controls... it's a completely detached world from the one it once came from. At first, I was skeptical about even playing. Especially considering all the things I've heard from many different sources years prior and all the YouTube videos mocking some of it's alleged horrible cutscenes. I finally decided that having played the entire series up until this point and being pretty content, I was going to finish what had to be done and order my first copy of The Lost Frontier.

It might seem a little slow at first with the game showing you how to control your character for you to get a general feel for the game but luckily, this didn't last for very long as it smoothly transitions into the more natural open world gameplay you'd expect from a Jak and Daxter title. There weren't any significant spikes of difficulty but there were times I did expect higher rewards for more difficult
missions in comparison to the rest. The overall tone was consistent and had some good effort moments that didn't stray too far from the original trilogy, which was appreciated. Worthy of a blind playthrough but even more worthy of criticism if you're a fan of the series as a whole.

There's a decent amount of movement to cover just about every obstacle you come across, even in the air. Certain vehicles can be tricky to handle and if you're the kind of person that gets nervous at video games, you may want to work on your muscle memory for this one. Experience with FPS in general may aid you while playing this game due to the sensitivity having that similar feel. If you're used to the old Jak movement then the adjustment you'd have to make while playing is close to none.

There's so much nitpicking to uncover as a loyalist of the original Jak and Daxter Series. I say "Original" because much like Jak II was a leap from it's predecessor, The Lost Frontier is much different from it's predecessor if you consider "it" to be the series as a whole. If we remove the nitpicking what's left is criticisms about the details surrounding a lot of the story-based decisions such as: why Daxter is the way he is and where they planned to take the static characters from their current direction. Almost every character prior in the series seemed to each have stories of their own where, in this game, it seemed to me like it failed to deliver on stories in general. Even though TLF is different from the Jak and Daxter series, perhaps that is also it's biggest plus, being different from just about any game I can think of from the PS2 era. It's uniqueness is a big reason I decided to give it a try and if we want other series to not fall in the same footsteps then just giving it a try is justified at the very least.

It's no secret that this game drew inspiration from games like StarFox and even if it was enjoyable in the moment, if I wanted to play StarFox I would just play StarFox instead. Towards the end of the game, it was starting to lose steam which would usually be the most anticipated part of any game. The music could use some work. None of the tracks stood out and a big reason some games stand the test of time is due to their soundtracks. Some of the outdoor portions seemed a bit lively and colorful to the point of it being noticeable right from the beginning, which should probably be saved for a more free-roam portion of the game. While each of these may seem like a small dent in the creative process, with each one, they become increasingly noticeable creating a much different approach to where you started and I feel this is the overarching problem of The Lost Frontier.

Before I wrap up, I wanted to point out that this game is not a bad game. If you're on the fence about playing TLF, my biggest advice to give is to ponder if you're willing to accept change and if change can be productive when it comes to rewriting your final impressions regarding your favorite series. If the answer is yes, I have no doubt you will enjoy this game for what it is, regardless if it doesn't have anything huge or monumental to offer. If the answer is no, you will only seek to look for magic where there is not and will be met with disappointment. I think the devs deserve any and all credit they are given because making a game isn't easy, it was never meant to be easy and the best you can do is give it your all. I'd like to say I enjoyed myself but unfortunately, I find it hard to say that with confidence. Regardless of whether or not you buy into the controversy, There is an important lesson to be learned here and It's that the weight that word of mouth carries can never be overlooked and while listening to the worthy opinions of others is one thing, seeing it yourself and separating the truth from legend can and always will be another.

HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US NAUGHTY DOG!!!! I used to love the jak and daxter series but selling it to another company has just made it crap. The only reason I didn't give this a zero is because the ships at least looked quite cool.

I find this game highly underrated. Most complaints I hear about it are either easy to get over or not even there. Like all other Jak games, it's really fun once you get the hang of it, even though a little frustrating at times. But what Jak game isn't? Still a great series though.

This is a really good game, even though it was released near the end of the PS2's sell by date. The flying was unreal, though the camera is fairly poor and Dark Daxter wasn't really adding much in terms of gameplay, but for what it is,its fairly solid.

This game is very deserving of a zero BUT here's why. The Jak and Daxter series is a series looked at very highly upon due to story, creativity, gameplay, and much much more. The Jak and Daxter series is a series looked at very highly upon due to story, creativity, gameplay, and much much more. This is because the original developers, Naughty Dog are very talented at what they do. When this game was announced which its fans had been waiting very patiently for a new installment, they expected to get a return of their favorite heroes to continue the amazing story and adventure from Jak 3. This is not at all the case being that the new developers High Impact Games had made it a spin off which has nothing to do with anything the fans of the series had loved it for. This caused mass hatred towards High Impact Games because despite it being a poor installment in the series, it was a poorly crafted game, from the mechanics to gameplay. It also took away the open world and key features such as dark and light Jak which had been an iconic aspect to Jak since Jak II. This game was very linear and the only way to 100% it is the first time around. The actual game itself taking out all elements of the Jak series would receive a 5 but because it takes away everything from what the series was, it was a disaster. There were many poor ideas crafted into the game such as Dark Daxter which feels as if they were taken from a webpage filled with illogical requests to put into the game from a fan that didn't quite understand the reason behind the previous games story. They all have no correlation to the story and what is set as reality in the game. This series has been in high demand by its true fans for a while now and even now after this game had ruined the name of what Jak and Daxter is, we want a Jak game made by Naughty Dog to satisfy our disappointment from this game. This is a precious series and should not be made for the sake of it, but rather by people who understand what the series is about and what is supposed to happen in the story that coincides with the previous games story. I was very disappointed to have gotten my hopes up for this game back in 2009 and i hope that one day, Naughty Dog decides to make a new Jak and Daxter game to continue the great story that many people have been intrigued by for years and want their questions to be answered through amazing gameplay and story! por favor,lo de daxter no tiene sentido,se tendria q haber transformado en un oscurador,no en esa cosa rara ademas de mas incoerencias, bueno,es lo q hay,q casualidad q tenga un 5.6 al igual q el tlou, aunq ahora cambiara cuando ponga mi voto negativo.Se ve q aqui drunkman ya se estaba entenando para jo/der siguientes juegos

Since drunkedman entered the jak 3 it was going badly and worse since in which characters such as bruter, the cocopeero were missing and strangely it was very short and sometimes there were things that felt strange, such as how is it that aslin was kiss with jak at the end? why? why!?!? what happened with kiera!? but it is that the lost frontier ..... has the worst story of jak and daxter by far, and the writer of the story is neither more nor less than neil drunkedman, it seems that he was also drunk at the time of writing this story as he did with the last of us 2 because it shows that this game has no plot sense respecting the 3 games previous of the saga, I wonder how they did not fire Neil after the botch he did here with the plot because it makes 0 sense, it is an insult to the triology, it is seen that this man has no regard for the characters that already exist and prefers to invent things as seen in the last of us 2, everything he touches ruins it
Please, the daxter thing does not make sense, it would have to have been transformed into an obscurator, not into that weird thing in addition to more inconsistencies, well, it is what there is, what a coincidence that it has a 5.6 like the tlou, even now It will change when I put my negative vote. It is seen that here drunkman was already training to **** next games

There’s fun to be had here, but it could’ve been polished a bit more to bring out the value.
  2. If you've been hankering for a full-scale Jak and Daxter game for some time, The Lost Frontier largely fulfills its duty as a continuation of the main series with flying colors. It's not a perfect sequel by any means, but it's strong enough to merit a purchase and some solid play time. Just be prepared to deal with some bumps along the way.
  3. Unless you're a die-hard Jak and Daxter fan, Jak and Daxter: The Final Frontier isn't worth the coin.
