Plays a decent game of PS2 football, but its at least number three behind "Madden NFL 2002" and "NFL 2K2" this yearand that leaves little running room.
-
Game InformerThe problems with the passing game are major, including a lack of touch on the ball, receivers who stop to catch passes, and iffy collision detection in general. [Jan 2002, p.83]

Chris Berman and Tom Jackson, both stellar sportscasters, dont display the showmanship thats the ESPN vocal trademark. They sound as if theyre doing their jobs, but with the clipped and monotone delivery, it sounds as if they wish they were somewhere else.
-
ESPN NFL Primetime 2002 just barely is ready for Primetime.
-
This game really lacks the small things that make you feel like you are in a football game.
-
Loads of potential. As for this year's game, it bumbles and stumbles out of the gate to a third-place finish behind Madden 2002 and NFL2K2.
-
The game does have a solid and innovative franchise mode, but given the available choices for football sims on the console, it is tough to recommend.

There are honestly a lot of things to like about this football game...[but] it just doesn't play enough like real football.
