    Without a doubt one of the best FPS on PS2, it is simply incredible. Al tho it only has story mode and it lacks re-playability, i would consider it more fun and realistic than the Call of Duty story mode. HOWEVER. This game has a high difficulty, which i consider important to say, but not something that will lower his score. I recommend playing the game in Hard, since the game feelsWithout a doubt one of the best FPS on PS2, it is simply incredible.     You play as US special soldier dealing with some plot in authotarian regimes and terrorists. Bright sides of the game are relatively open "corridors" and some mission have semi open world what is cool for PS2 game. Graphics are really timeless even some games nowadays have not some effects like this. Mood of the game feels like thriller sometimes. Sounds are same quality. Bad sides of the game is story what is total dissapointment for me.You wait and nothing interesting came after you finished the mission nor the game.Sometimes you feel just you shoot your way up to the finish and thats all. I feel more part of the world and story in Doom than in this game.Game should be longer.And authors dont wanna mock some countries so countries have differentt names but you know what country is it :D Russia is named Treneska for example.     One of the best FPS games I played on PS2 and ever played in my life. Made by the developers of the BURNOUT racing series and they somehow brought us this Masterpiece FPS game. I always hoped for another BLACK game to be made but looks unlikely to happen sadly enough.

    Шли года с выхода ps2 разработчики начали хорошо справляться с архитектурой ps2, выходило много красивых игр для нее но Criterion games сделали что-то по настоящему удивительное.
    Они действительно взяли PS2 и начали из нее выжимать максимум. При первом запуске я задался вопросом действительно ли у    BLACK-эта та игра которую я с уверенностью могу назвать лучшим шутером на PlayStation 2.
    Шли года с выхода ps2 разработчики начали хорошо справляться с архитектурой ps2, выходило много красивых игр для нее но Criterion games сделали что-то по настоящему удивительное.

    it was hard to belive back then that video games can be visually that pretty. Gunplay was pretty good at the time.

    Good game, not really a cover based type more a run and gun, levels are huge and lots of side missions to do, what makes this game though is the destruction engine. Buildings, walls, everything breaks can be destroyed.

    If someone says it's an overrated game, he is basically saying "I did not play Black". For the experts in FPS shooters, it has a challenging difficulty. The feeling of destruction and adrenaline are real. A tense gameplay, where you have times you watch your steps, and times you just shoot everything that moves down. Totally a must play.

    Overrated video game, sloppy story, short duration, normal gameplay and zero game modes... the only thing that stands out is the graphics, TimeSplitters 2 and 3 are the kings of the genre on this console

    First fps game for me and the best !!! love all aspects of this game, i play as if i actually infiltrated the enemy base, very addictive gameplay

    Black é um jogo que marcou minha infância, lembro na época que eu e meu pai jogarmos Black no PlayStation 2, tenho PlayStation 2 para jogar Black até hoje, amo jogo com paixão, fico triste que continuação do Black tenha sido cancelado, mas mesmo assim jogo é sensacional!
    Mas enfim, a história do jogo é legal, não é melhor história do mundo dos games, mas é razoavelmente legal. Gráficos do    Black é um jogo que marcou minha infância, lembro na época que eu e meu pai jogarmos Black no PlayStation 2, tenho PlayStation 2 para jogar Black até hoje, amo jogo com paixão, fico triste que continuação do Black tenha sido cancelado, mas mesmo assim jogo é sensacional!
    Mas enfim, a história do jogo é legal, não é melhor história do mundo dos games, mas é razoavelmente legal. Gráficos do jogo é sensacional até hoje, as armas são bem realistas pra época, destruição de cenário incrível!
    Jogabilidade, ah... É infelizmente envelheceu mal, pois mira meio trava e dura, personagem anda lento demais, mas tirando isso, jogo é bem divertido de jogar!
    A dificuldade do jogo é razoável, bem desafiador, mas no final do jogo ele fica irritantemente apelativo com jogador, mas mesmo, dá pra passar... Depois morre pra caramba!!! Mas é isso, obrigado.

    Vou ser sincero. Esse jogo fez parte da minha infância, sua trilha sonora me marcou, usaram muito bem a música, os gráficos são bem propensos para época, fritava o PS2 as vezes né, o seu sistema de jogabilidade é bem fácil de entender, é muito bom que esse jogo tenha saído na época de ouro da AE games, porque se fosse hoje em dia estaria estragado.

    This game can not be compared to II world war CoD's or Medal of Honor's, when you talk about this game you don't wanna talk about epicness, story or anything, you want to talk about playability. It's the only ps2 fps in which you feel like you are firing a god damn weapon, it feels great, sometimes better than many other new video games.

Developer Criterion Games described this game's gun firing presenation as "gun porn". The team basically wanted to do to firearms what they did with cars in their "Burnout" games; make them sexy"Black" stands alongside "Medal of Honor: Frontline" as one of the best shooters on the PS2. Short, but sweet, it's a highly-stylized FPS that draws inspiration from many Hollywood action movies. Developer Criterion Games described this game's gun firing presenation as "gun porn". The team basically wanted to do to firearms what they did with cars in their "Burnout" games; make them sexy and visceral. They certainly succeeded as each weapon looks and feels great. Unfortunately, "Black" is only 6 to 8 hours long and doesn't include any multiplayer modes. The replay factor is also quite low since you're only given a few bonus weapons for finishing the game. Still, the game is a total blast while it lasts. It's not a very deep shooter, but it delivers the thrill you get from watching Hollywood movie shootouts. I would rate with an 8 out of 10.… Expand

    O melhor FPS já lançado para PS2 com gráficos realmente bonitos e muito bem feitos,cenário altamente destrutível,fases grandes repletas de objetivos diversas armas e dificuldade insana (Black Ops) com certeza entra fácil na lista Top 10 PS2.

    Criterion maîtrisait bien son sujet côté technique, c'était l'un des plus beaux FPS ce Black et même aujourd'hui, il a bien vieilli. Impressionnant et spectaculaire certes mais aussi très scripté et bourré d'ennemis qui réclament rapidement des chargeurs entiers pour accepter de mourir enfin. Quand à cela, on ajoute les points de sauvegarde très espacés et qui ne sont même pas de vraiesCriterion maîtrisait bien son sujet côté technique, c'était l'un des plus beaux FPS ce Black et même aujourd'hui, il a bien vieilli. Impressionnant et spectaculaire certes mais aussi très scripté et bourré d'ennemis qui réclament rapidement des chargeurs entiers pour accepter de mourir enfin. Quand à cela, on ajoute les points de sauvegarde très espacés et qui ne sont même pas de vraies sauvegardes (il faut terminer chaque niveau pour en bénéficier...) et les soins très rares, on se demande pourquoi on a payé (!) pour ce calvaire.

    Dommage, intrinsèquement la jouabilité n'est pas mauvaise, les armes ont du répondant et la partie sonore est soignée mais tout est ruiné par cette approche débilos-arcade, une vraie caricature !    … Expand

    "Gun-porn" turns out to be the most accurate descriptor anyone slapped onto the game. I mean, how many times can you rewatch the same bit of pr0n before you're completely unstimulated by it? It's intense for the first experience, but completely diminishing returns every time after that.

    An action movie given digital, interactive form. It's a relentless, constant barrage of sensory input, and it's done in a way that no developer thus far can match. Immersive, beautiful and a blast to play, BLACK is a must-have.
