Despite finding quite a few things that proved substantially irritating at different moments, the battle-heavy action does indeed scratch an itch.
-
A scantily clad woman with two blades and lots and lots of monsters, that sounds like an entertaining game, but turns out to be a laborious task. It's fun for one hour or so. But once you realize that there is nothing more to the game than fighting huge amounts of monsters in similar looking areas, it becomes annoyingly repetitive.
-
The primitive combat system and monotonous level design are reason enough to dislike this mediocre action game. And yet, there is more: The character design is disputable, to say the least, and the cut-scenes fail to support the almost non-existent storyline. Unless you are crazy for non-stop action in a solid presentation, this game is one you should avoid.
-
X-blades doesn’t succeed in delivering a rich offer. The gameplay is repetitive, and platforming doesn’t play out well. The long fights are usually boring, and the plethora of upgrades and different kinds of magic is not enough to make it fun. Add a terrible A.I., and what you get is a title that won’t be fun for anyone but hack’n’slash die-hard fans.
-
While it's certainly a pretty game, there's just nothing special to it. Throughout forty boring levels all you will get is wild button mashing which results not only in Ayumi’s death most of the time but probably that of some of your brain cells as well.
-
Play (Poland)Just a few attack moves in a fighting game - that does not bode well. Sometimes a thing or two flashes in the chaos of the combat and draws our attention, but in the end this tired Devil May Cry imitation gives out the moan of a loser crushed by superior contenders. [Apr 2009]
-
PC Zone UKThere's really no reason you'd want to play this, unless you like looking at the pert buttocks of a young girl while clicking the mouse button a thousand times a minute. [June 2009, p.74]
