I have to give the game a negative due to it's unplayable state. The lag makes the game impossible to play, constant DC and queues of up to 3 hours.

Assets: Almost the whole expansion is recycled. Old mobs in new colours- very little new mobs, very little new animations, walk cycles and so on. Just recolors.

Maps: While the first map is basic but functional, second and third are recycled, fourth is what all maps shouldve been like. Oribous is the most lazy attempt of a city hub in the history of WOW

Thorgast: A complete mess. While there was so much potential it was awfully screwed up with buggy, uncreative and unrewarding mechanics. If it was somewhat balanced, and would ve gotten love it couldve easily been the greatest thing in a wow expansion in over 10 years. Imagine it just beeing a little like diablo- wouldnt that be great? Instead it plays like a early alpha of a inexperienced dev team.

Gameloop: Is 85% the same of Bfa - get azerite through worldquests (now anima) buff your stuff and go m+ or raiding. Thorgast is mostly (atm) no use and little fun at all. So no innovation on that point...

Leveling: It is pretty stupid but a normal geared bfalvl50 char with Ilvl120 will be stronger/as strong than a lvl 60 char full myth0 equipped . If you start the expansion you will start change items at around 58- until then you will become weaker and weaker. Until you do less dmg than you did (after squish) in Bfa.
Apart from that leveling is same as ever. but shorter (which is good) It just feels completely stupid to lvl down (instead of up) to 60

Depth: the content delivered with release is shallow at best. you lvl to 60 in about 10 hours without hustle (which is ok for me since i dislike leveling but its still lazy).
We cleared all current content on day 2 of the expansion (all myth clear) without even trying hard.
Ive never seen a normal instance from inside.
You get 60, buy 151 gear set for small money, go heroic instances and thats it. content done.
There will be more- we know that - but 2 days is a little stupid.

Gear: There is about 1 gearset for every class at the moment- everybody looks same. random, green gear you get looks same as mythic gear.. its completely ridiculous.

Overall: Activision delivered (so far) as catastrophic as expected. The result goes hand in hand with the rumors about the companies Ex Blizzard department. They delivered exactly enough to not be lynched but everybody who hoped for a game that might last a year or two - you will be disappointed.

Leveling is a very linear and almost boring experience, nothing new here just same old mmo quests. You just go from zone to zone doing the main quests while only doing side quests when you are level gated, quests rewards are just gold and gear. When i look back at the leveling experience and ask myself if I had fun, it is a resounding no.

The story is a little confusing and it is very easy to miss certain details that are important to the story. The story is hard to connect with, and honestly I'm tired of being called champion/mortal/maw walker every 2 minutes. There are some cool cutscenes but personally I found most of the story to be pretty boring, with no actual fun parts to it. Compared to Legion or even WOD's campaign I'm pretty disappointed.

Torghast is pretty fun due to some of the cool choices you can make and the fact you can play with your friends. Some specs will have a really tough time solo while others breeze through relatively easily. You basically have to keep grinding it to unlock your legendary gear and the higher tiers are currently time gated. Overall, pretty cool but very grindy.

PVP so far is very fast paced, focusing on huge burst damage and killing in one stun. I would avoid for now unless you are playing as one of the burstier specs or as a healer.

Covenants are interesting but you can not change covenants without being punished severely. This will be one of your many end game grinds that revolve around doing world quests/collecting anima for upgrades. Right now I think spamming the same world quests where you kill 5 mobs then click 5 things or do buggy mini games really isn't that fun and it feels very tedious to do.

Dungeons are well done and feel fun to do. Each covenant brings a unique power to each dungeon which changes up the experience. For mythic+ as a dps it is very hard to get into groups unless you are playing meta specs, so same old stuff here.

Overall, it's hard to justify paying 60+ dollars for this game unless you really like more of the same old WoW. There is a lot of cool art and animations but there are a lot of time gates/currency gates which make the game seem too tedious and honestly the story for me was a huge let down.

The game is broken. Absolute useless launch by Blizzard. I paid £60 for this and I can't even play it. Their customer service is terrible, they don't care for the hundreds of thousands of players that can't even access their game. Meanwhile, on their "official forums", the only communication is to threads that praise how amazing their new game is. This is truly pathetic.

It is a BFA but heavily influenced by diablo 3. I will ignore all of the launch issues because that is to be expected at this point. They are certainly something to consider but i'll focus on just the game:

Pros: If you have a steady clique you can experience a 6-12 year old friendly amusement park that is shadowlands and just chat/hang out together without having to try to immerse in the game. Can be very fun and social.
If you are on the right class, pvp is a blast as you totally obliterate people who were unfortunate to be another class.
The visuals and audio are very well done if incongruent.
You only have to be railroaded through the story once because alts can skip the story (at the cost of leveling speed)

Cons: Borrowed power systems similar to legion/bfa
horrible story that you are forced into
you most likely will not find anyone new to play with so go in with a solid group already
so little new things that it doesn't feel like an expansion

    TLDR bottomline:
If you have money to waste then try the game out for 40 bucks. Some of my friends are enjoying it and I really want to as well. So you may get lucky? If you are on a budget or don't like burning cash, then save it for cyberpunk.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In short, the storyline of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is absolute garbage. However, I am not surprised because the storytelling of their previous expansions (starting at Warlords of Draenor) have not been impressive either.

I strongly advise to not listen to the super positive reviews if one of their supporting points is that the storytelling is great. There are so many logical flaws and headscratchers within the storyline.

For example, when the player is on top of Icecrown Citadel about to traverse into the "The Maw". Bolvar Fordragon makes it clear that he will not be joining you on your journey into "The Maw" because he fears that the jailer may enslave him. After the player escapes the "inescapable maw" through a dormant waystone that transports them to Oribos. The NPCs are shocked because the player is "touched by the maw". Shortly after, Bolvar Fordragon enters Oribos through a death gate and the NPCs state that they are touched by the maw as well. Therefore, Bolvar Fordragon went into the maw even though he said he wouldn't go to the maw. The player has no supporting information as to why Bolvar decided to do this. Unfortunately, you just need to accept the fact that he is there now for the set up of a forced dramatic scene between Taelia and Bolvar Fordragon. This is an entirely new level of cringe and bad writing. Then there is the storyline about the "emo" angels also known as the "Forsworn Kyrian" which are a monstrosity in itself.

I can only compare the storytelling of World of Wacraft: Shadowlands to that of a child sitting in their room playing with their toys. Specifically, imagining random things that do not make any sense or progress the plot in any shape of form.

The cutscenes and voice acting are not any better than the story either. Both are extremely underwhelming when you experience them. In fact, most players skip through them because they are so underwhelming.

The gameplay and mechanics of the game are what keeps this review from being a straight 0. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has decent and engaging gameplay for all classes. I believe most WoW players understand this now because most of them skip through the storyline quests and cutscenes so that they can get to the end game content and do the only enjoyable thing in the game.

If you do not care about any RPG aspects of an MMORPG and simply enjoy mindless raiding, dungeons, and PvP. This game is a good buy. However, if you are looking for a game with an engaging storyline and RPG elements - you are way better off playing Final Fantasy: Shadowbringers.

The Warmode system is still in play. This has caused my server (Horde Heavy) to become PvE. This was introduced in BFA to encourage PvP, but has had the opposite effect. People can opt out of PvP on PvP servers now (couldnt before BFA).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be honest I wasn't really sure at first whether it would be fair to review it after a mere two months of playing. However, after 15 years of intermittent playing, being a full-time raider until nearly end of WotLK, I know it's about that time when the initial awe has lapsed a bit, and you could put forward a more sober view — at least from the perspective of someone who hasn't raided since WotLK (NOTE: I don't count LFR as raiding in the classic competitive sense I am referring to). The problem however remains: reviewing an expansion is like giving new reviews for the same game.

First things first, no, Shadowlands doesn't reinvent World of Warcraft, and it's only a very soft reboot of a game with the level squish in place and currently rather wonky balancing of older and newer content altogether that firmly stands in opposition to it. It also doesn't introduce something that your class would keep in the long term. Blizzard definitely has become rather conservative about power creep so much that they prefer to clothe formerly known systems such as enchants and glyphs into borrowed power that will only stick for as long as the expansion will last.

With that in mind it is rather confounding that Blizzard hasn't learned to creative cohesive engaging world yet, instead they stick to their hub-based formula with content on a timer, in both directions, temporary enhancements with only a few new mounts, transmogrifications and perhaps, a new unlocked sub-race to keep in the future while leaving their old content in a tangled mess of phased states. Neither does the world get truly expanded nor does your long-term gameplay of your own class. In fact even the off-systems that kept were attempting to keep you busy outside that, the professions, feel more and more hamstrung and jettisoned of creative ideas by every expansion. A lot of potential has been wasted here. If you compare it with competitors on the market then it is appalling that professions feel rather tacked on this expansion, especially Engineering which seems to have no other purpose than existing for the sake of it.

With the addition of The Maw there is finally a system in place which at least in the beginning forces you to think where you are going and not become complacent. However once you learned to play the system for a bit even then you can allow yourself a bit more audacious. The dread loses its initial power. In my opinion the Maw would be a perfect place for open-world risk vs. reward gameplay instead both aspects seem to go down over time.

Without doubt, they really went all out when designing the zones and sound pieces are wonderfully crafted, if nothing short of monumental. Every zone has its nuanced flair, whether it be the ethereal angelic realm of Bastion, the serene realm of Ardenweald, the brutal and harsh lands of Maldraxxus, the decadent transylvanic nation of Revendreth, the dreading and unforgiving nature of the Maw, there is always a notable love for artistic detail, some details you still could get lost while hunting treasures or solving mini-puzzles.
Suffice to say here the issues start to ramp up again, it is not a game for players who are no longer buying in the old traditional treadmill concept. Where other competitors on the market have learned to understand that not everyone plays MMORPGs for competition or competitive self-advancement, WoW still sticks to this formula with an iron hand and wastes a lot of good opportunities in the progress which eventually leads to people either being forced to run the PVP treadmill or quit after they had seen it all since there is not much else for them that could match them in scale since it still isn't regarded as the core experience of the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was hyped before shadowlands' release, but after spending a good amount of time in-game my euphoria has taken quite a big hit.

For starters, the leveling process a total bore since the player's character does not become more powerful on the road to lvl 60. You will not feel stronger and apart from some buffs of existing spells and some unimpactful abilities nothing exciting or new is learned. The leveling only serves the expansions narrative. I personally thought it was not that bad, but nothing special either. You have heard it all before a thousand times. What disturbed me however, was the depiction of all male characters as evil, whereas all the female characters are depicted as good. I don't understand why american society is so fixated on presenting this narrative. it damages gender relations and it is about time this ends. I can safely say, that I do not want to go through the leveling process again. Fortunately, there is an option to skip it entirely.

Which brings me to the endgame content. I am now at ilvl 180 with my druid tank. I have finished all dungeons on heroic and mythic and the mechanics are interesting. I noticed that some fights drastically change on mythic difficulty, whereas others do not notably change at all. I don't recall if that has always been the case in previous expansions.

The Maw is ok. I like that you can only spend a certain amount of time there. However in the beginning getting around is a real pain since you cannot mount (yet). It gets better when you get more reputation with Ve'nari (you can buy items) and you can get a mount from Thorgast later on in the expansion.

Thorgast itself is quite a let down. The first 10 runs are interesting. After that you are just doing it to get your soul ash to craft legendaries. All the runs look and feel the same, despite what the developers have claimed. But to be honest, I think that all roguelikes have this problem, so I wasn't that surprised. Crafting legendaries is cool and the effects feel like a notable difference in play style.

The covenant system and campaign are bad. I got lucky and "needed" to pick the covenant that I also found most interesting. Here lies the problem with this system. In order to optimize your character you need to pick a certain covenant. For the different talent trees of a class other covenants are the best pick. Since changing covenants is possible but a pain, you are more or less stuck with playing just one talent tree of your class. Then there are also optimal covenants for pve and pvp. On top of that, covenant campaign progress is locked behind a 16 week timegate... I don't know what they were thinking when they implemented this stuff. In my opinion, this is bad game design.

I still have 5 days of subscription left and I have mixed feelings if I should resubscribe or not. The content that they offered at launch was mediocre at best, but it is entirely possible that it gets better in a few weeks time. I do believe that the foundation for a great expansion has been layed out.

I’m not going to speak to class balance, end game progression or even the new covenant system (its boring), I’m going to talk about the zone design and how much of what we are seeing in this expansion was literally copied and pasted from older zones. Bastion is brilliant, it’s the first zone you see and is the most original. It has elements from older zones, most of the creatures are blatant re-skins but it’s atmosphere feels unique. Maldraxxus is an undead Silithus, very bland, so bland in fact that is all I really have to say. Ardenweald is an expansion of the Druid order hall from Legion, it’s very beautiful but not original at all. Revendreth is Druskvar with modified BFA/Legion architecture, it looks impressive but again feels lacklustre when you look at its concept art and what was trying to be conveyed. The levelling experience through these zones felt very quick, I felt a rush to the end game. It might have been because I was skipping all of the cinematic’s, but I just didn’t connect with any of the zones. They felt soulless, which is tragic because I think that’s a plot line in all the dialogue I skipped. I recognize COVID impacted Shadowlands development, but from the ground up this is a poor attempt on Blizzards part. At the very least I wanted a memorable leveling experience; the only highlight I can recall was the fae trolls stabbing the butterfly men. GG Activision, you got my money. Expand

What a terrible idea on so many levels. Class design STILL sucks. No matter how great the art and story are, it's an MMO and gameplay is the #1 most important thing. Just wait til endgame... Expand

Recently a game designer, Chris Kaleiki, left WoW after working there for 13 years. He made an interesting video explaining his discontent with the direction of the game, look it up. After playing shadowlands and leveling a character to 60, i have to agree with him.
I made the meaningful choice of never playing retail again. Thanks Ion.

First expansion rotation to not provide any new class. Usually its every other expansion has a new class. Maybe no more new classes ever? If they dont make a new class, should be twice as much content.. doesnt appear so yet.

Story? The same for 16 years. There has been a HUGE thing going on for a looong time, yet you've never heard of it. Then a 100% bad guy tries to destroy everything. You kill him and then oops, something happens again. And there is zero logic and connection behind all this lore, check videos on YT that explains this.

If instead you want to do the BFA storyline and skip the Battle For Lordaeron. They have removed the quest to have you go talk to Anduin. So you have to heroes call board and there is a guard standing there with the quest to talk to Anduin. So you head off to Stormwind Keep, and no one is sitting on the throne. You have to go to the area by the library and find the blue bubble. Then go back in the first room of the left of the main hallway (that wasn't used in BFA) to meet the war council. Very Clunky and not well thought out.

They should have waited another two to three weeks before releasing this sh*t show.

Low expectations meant that from beta testing, videos and content reviews, I estimated the expansion to be a 5/10 before I play it. Unfortunately, it's worse than that.
For me, the biggest thorn is (was) the story, which is one of the main reasons I play the game. I was already dissapointed from the N'Zoth ending and I was hoping for restitution, which did not arrive.

Without spoiling anything, I'll just say that:
1 - Quests are completely uninspired and very mundane. E.g., one of the first quests after you arrive in Bastion, stronghold of the Angels, is to gather pelts from Underworld goats, because an NPC needs to repair an underworld robot.

2 - The campaign has no cohesion and is very stretched. You have to go to the Underworld to save some NPCs. It would be cool, if the story stuck to that, but pretty soon the game forgets that, and puts the player in a path to prove their worth to half a dozen factions across the Shadowlands.

3 - The story is just not interesting (subjective) and there are logical fallacies everywhere. Even the story doesn't take itself seriously, so how will the player? E.g. you join the Underworld starting from an area called "The Maw". All the enemies including the big bad guy are yelling to you that "Nothing escapes The Maw". Yet only a few minutes later, the player escapes the Maw!

4 - The story is not clear. The game tries to create depth to the story by insinuating that the villains have their own very important agenda, but it tries so very, VERY hard to tease, that makes the story boring.

Once the story breaks down, there's very little in the expansion to keep you in.

    That's my 2 cents.

    Cheers

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay so after a few days of playing shadowlands I have to tell it's definetly not my addon. I enjoyed to choose my first quest area on my own in BfA and here its choosen for you. That was dissappointing a bit but I thought "ok, let's just get 60 and see whats next." But then I got quests to go torghast and thats simply diablo 3 portals like if you play season. I'm a person who dont go dungeons or raids (i'm going there later to gather my curve mount IF I like it) because it's not fun for me.. I rather go questing, gathering, doing achievs, exploring, petbattles or collecting mounts tmog from old raids thats why I loved island expeditions what most ppl didnt. ^^ But now I have to go things like Torghast to keep my story going. I also tried the different levelexperience on an alt already and its okay. It's getting fast and you can choose your area but I enjoyed to play story quests again and again but in shadowlands this feels so slow and you cant choose where to begin so I think i will use this method if I level any more alts. I'm not angry about the addon - many people like it, my friends do too but I'm sad because it feels like there's nothing to do for people like me after 60.. at least I got one thing about the addon I like. I love Ardenweald. all quest area's are well designed in generall with their own theme. Shadowlands is worth to give it a try but dont expect to much if you are like me. Expand

The new expansion brings in a nice breath of fresh air coming from BFA. Getting introduced to Covenants and their abilities though questing has been a fun process for me personally.
Leveling: Getting from 50 to 60 has not been rather... Fine. While you level for the first time you get to go trough all of the new zones and test the covenant abilities within them, while some zones may be hit or miss depending on your preferences, most of them are generally fine. 4/5
Story: Without getting into any spoilers, the story takes an odd turn into the new and unknown. We are headed to the realm of death and getting to see what afterlife looks like. While getting to see some familiar faces in the afterlife is nice, the whole experience feels a little not "warcrafty", for those not familiar with the lore it can be very fun, but for the others that got used to a bit more of a traditional style of warcraft lore it may feel a bit odd, this is probably the weakest part of Shadowlands. 2/5
New Systems: Shadowlands brings with itself a couple of new systems, I'll be mainly talking about the Covenants, conduits and legendaires.
Covenants are something like Harry Potter houses of Shadowlands, each has it's own theme, abilities and addition perks. Without getting into each covenant, they feel a bit better than I expected. They all feel fairly balanced, I was more encouraged to take the covenant with the ability that I liked the most instead of "The best one for my class". With that being said, your favorite covenant thematically might have a boring ability, which could be a problem for your average PvE or PvP player, they could be forced into a covenant they not prefer just cause of the ability. 4/5
Conduits bring a new, fun way of making talents. They are usually smaller power ups but could contribute a lot to your character. You will be collecting different conduits while doing verious content. You will have to choose from 3 different types of skill trees and mix and match your conduits within them, making a little, personal and more fun skill system. 5/5
The new legendary items are gonna be the major power up to your character, these are made by picking the legendary power you want and combining it with a profession crafted piece of gear and some more stuff. All in all, it will be a very customizable piece of gear with a nice buff to your class. Obtaining these legendary powers can be somewhat tough and will sometimes require you to go out of your comfort zone of doing the content you don't enjoy. You might really want a power that comes only from PvP, but you are a PvE player with little to no interest in PvP. Most of these legendary powers are hit or miss with the most effective in most types of content already being figured out. 3/5
Dungeons: The new 8 dungeons are in, and I've tested them all on the mythic difficulty. I have to say that I'm satisfied. The dungeons provide some challange with room for being creative for the trash packs and boss fights. The bosses have some new and fun mechanics, for example one of them being throwing two players into a pit fight and the winner gets a damage buff, and a bunch of all mechanics mixed and matched into new fun encounters. With that beings said some encounters can get pretty boring and simple once you break them down, so the challange goes down by a lot in those fights. 4/5

    - No new systems, no new features (I still remember the "features" trailer where it said "new zones!" "new levelling system!" "covenants!". And even then, last year, my reaction was: "well, wheres the features?")
    - There are new abilities, which are boring. I mean, if at least they were all exciting, amazing new abilities and every player would have to face a difficult decision which one to choose, but really it is like this: "oh yeah, these 3 are garbage, and this 1 is obviously the one I should choose"
    - Restricting/locking transmog; that is right, essentially you have to choose between being good at the game or choosing the transmog set you like. You cannot choose both. Example: Covenant X has badass armor, but crap ability. Covenant Y has the ability you need in order to perform well in m+ or in a raid, but ugly transmog. Which one should you choose?

    - Ugh, right the story. The story which makes no sense. It is essentially a continuation of BFA. Which was crap. People say that Draenor was the worst expansion, but for me it was BFA and now Cameolands. At least with Draenor, they scrapped it and built something new. The game director refuses to acknowledge that BFA failed and while being stubborn they insist on continuing the Sylvanas arc. Apart from all this, any story that is in any way connected to the "main plot" is contrived. It is created or arranged in a way that seems artificial and unrealistic, instead of creating the illusion that is natural.

TLDR: If you did not like BFA, you are not going to like this. Skip 9.0. Maybe they will patch it in 9.1? Just wait for Cyberpunk. Play some Witcher 3 in the mean time. Or torrent classic Warcraft III and play that. If you really need to play an MMO and do not mind paying for a 16 year old game, theres Classic.

A proper RPG *SHOULD* have areas and monsters that are higher level - and stronger - than you, because later on you will be strong enough to face them, signifying your growth in power. Also, a proper RPG *SHOULD* have areas and monsters that fall behind you as you grow stronger. This game managed to balance that for years after classic, there's no reason it shouldn't be possible now.

The current team in charge of WoW have no idea what made this game great back in the good ol' days. All they have going for them is WoW's legacy - they couldn't make a decent MMORPG from scratch if their lives depended on it.

However I had fun for 3-4 months at the beginning of the expansion and did over a hundred m+ runs, thats why i give it 4 out of 10, and not 1. _______________________________________

    - Our lovely cinematics are on the next level now. Lips sync, true emotions, moves - it looks so fresh so after I saw it in the game I ran to YouTube to rewatch it a couple times. Very hard work was done. (This is what you will notice firstly)

    - Story. Despite the fact it is only the beginning of 1.5 year journey, the whole storyline feels like good first season of a series with general conclusion at the end but with the tease of something greater upcoming. I cannot imagine what blizz has prepared for us... especially last cinematic in the maw... it destroyed my mind.
I have so many questions now and I understand that answers will be soon. Like, IN THIS EXPANSION! Not in 3 years, it will happen soon.

    - Leveling. Omg BFA was so goddamn boring, so the only way to get highest lvl for socond char was freehold for gold. This time I’m exited to go through whole adventure again. I’m playing with Russian language, so I can tell only for Russian version, but acting was the best of all. I felt so into it, every meter of covenants was a pleasure to explore and to help npc’s :D
Leveling is fast, not boring (almost), and main thing here is - main story now is separated by side quests - covenant “battle pass”
I haven’t dived too deep into this new system but the way how we receive awards feels fresh and fare. Cons.

    - bugs.bugs.bugs. But it will be fixed anyway
    - Ardenweald. This type of zone we have seen in every last expansion. Blue forest with some magic. From the first quest I was thinking that I want to skip this zone faster. But the story turned out very, I mean, VERY INTERESTING. Ending costs it’s waiting.
    - local quests are hard for solo now. You need to do them for covenant, but effort is unequal to reward. - bugs.bugs.bugs.
    - Maw feels annoying now, always-in-combat-zone. But later you will upgrade urself with special tokens so it must be not that bad. - this expansion is expecting from you A LOT OF FARMING if you want this shiny covenant gear, covenant mount etc. Like, A LOT. 2 hours per day will be not enough at all to get everything until 9.1

Overall, feels fresh, interesting, there is a lot to come, I really hope Shadowlands will be better than legion and now I am sure it will. If I will not update it later - that means I am disappointed and not playing anymore :D

    Cheers. -

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ultimately the worst thing about this game as a whole, is the elitist, toxic, childish, and unappreciative vocal minority who put their opinions on their channels or turn it into memes so that their opinion is echoed by the wanderers of the internet who join in on something "for the meme". The player base is the absolute worst thing about the game. League of legends (Which is notoriously toxic) is like a glass of fresh water compared to the venom that is spewed in WoW these days.

The people giving 0 reviews a few days into the expansion are buffoons. It is literally impossible to have played, experienced, or even unlocked all of the content that was added with this expansion. It is the first week and people are judging the first part of the story (yes the leveling experience is only the first part of the story in ANY given expansion).

To address some of the "Issues" people have:

    - There doesn't need to be a new class every other expansion. Let them work on balancing the classes they have first. I'm sure the people crying about not getting a new class, are also the people crying that they aren't balanced or "complete". Constantly adding new classes makes balancing more difficult, and causes class homogenization.

    - Saying "Classes unfinished" literally means nothing. Unfinished means incomplete, not "if only we had x ability that I just thought up spot then we'd top the meters! But since that ability doesn't exist the class is unfinished!" By that logic no MMO ever has a "complete class"... Just because your class underperforms from what you want doesn't mean its "unfinished" it just means either you go the short end of the stick and didn't get to be the top of the ranking tier this expansion, and/or you just suck at playing your class. Not every single class can be top tier at the same time. There will always be a best and worst.

    - They don't need to add new races this expansion they literally spent the last expansion adding races to the game.

    - The dungeons have all been great, there is a nice range of difficulties amongst them and I look forward to running keys in them.

    - There are tons of recognizable characters as well as the new ones, if you don't recognize the old ones you obviously didn't play back in the day. They have to introduce new lore, story, and characters in order to keep things interesting. The people who complain about them adding new story and characters basically just want classic.

-Lets list the recognizable characters in the expansion so far just off the top of my head: Sylvanas, Jaina, Thrall, Baine, Anduin, Tyrande, Bolvar, Calia, Nazgrim, Whitemane, Morgraine, Lady Vasjh, Draka, Uther, Kael'Thas, Kel'Thuzad, Taelia, Vol'jin, Hakkar, Milhouse Manastorm, Mueh'Zala (check classic stranglethorn), and others that i cant recall currently. not to mention ones such as Garrosh (who might show up as he was in the revendreth cine) or even characters like Arthas, who haven't shown up yet but almost definitely will, on top of all the small cameos from minor characters such as Cookie from Deadmines.

    - The professions are much better than they were in some (but not all) of the other expansions, (namely BFA and WoD were way worse). And the fact that they are used to make Legendary gear is a good sign for them maintaining a little more relevance throughout. Although Engineering seems to be lacking so far.

    - The zones are nice overall, but people seem to say they like the look of one and then **** on the rest for not matching the aesthetic they like. They weren't supposed to be the same as each other, of course some neckbearded edgelord isn't going to like bastion or ardenweald. The game is made for more people than just you.

    - The people saying "no new systems or features" are, first of all, forgetting that Torghast was added and the game hasn't had something like that before. On top of that they seem to fail to realize that the systems and features they don't seem to see is in fact the covenant and sanctums. They have literally reused assets and systems since they started releasing expansions for this game. Literally all the way back to BC. They always taken things from past expansions and try to put a new spin on it or change it in some way. stop acting like the gaming industry standard of reusing and rehashing ideas is a new thing. its not a new thing. Just look at Elder Scrolls, Skyrim has literally just been reformatted for different platforms and graphically updated and rereleased exactly the same for the last DECADE.

    - People seem to fail to realize that you will get more content as you upgrade your covenant? And that it takes time to do so? And that "time gating" is used to prevent the aforementioned neckbeards from tearing through the whole expansion in a week and then crying that there is no new content for the next few months while the rest of us play like sane people who have jobs, lives, and families outside of the game.

This game brings us back the hole experience of what is World Of Warcraft, you can pass hours leveling and it won't be boring, every minute ia a show of magic and immersion. You can feel a good job done on this expansion.

These reviews are wack this is the best expansion to date. The wow community is so whiny and toxic. Best expansion for new players to join.

The leveling experience, cinematics, voice acting, etc. have been massively improved from previous versions of the game. The first zone (Bastion) starts out kind of rough but things pick up quickly once you leave that first zone and the story really starts to shine. Most importantly, the level 60 experience so far has been great. There's a lot of stuff to do at endgame but unlike BFA, none of it feels like chores that you have to do. The new covenant system is very well done and it quickly got me hooked into the progression.

Shadowlands is a great effort from the WoW team after their embarrassing last expansion.

After BfA a breath of fresh air. As good as no mandatory content. Do what you like to do, rather than developers telling you what to do. Great dungeons, awesome story line to level through and PvP is as good as ever. A++

Story flow, yes. Crying? Yes. Yelling? Yes. The grind? All right. I made it to 60 on a vengeance demon hunter, I chose my covenant. I'm actually happy overall. MUCH better than BFA. They listened on this one.

Played since BC, the level up experience was nice, story is interesting, covenant are ok. pvp is nice (vendor and all). Cant wait for raid, People giving this a 0 are disingenuous. They did learn a lot from the BFA mistake, they need to continue and make it better.

I enjoyed just about EVERY minute of this expansion! It started well, ended well, the story was excellent, the gear looked gorgeous, and it ran incredibly well on a full range of PCs. What else is needed?

I mean it's another expansion: as predictable as that can be: a new iteration that doesn't revolutionize anything but offers small iterative improvements and new content. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hey Guys,
not sure why there are so many bad critics. I think it is one of the best wow addons since wotlk!
grafics and world / story design are really awesome. Thorgast is awesome. The only thing I really want to have back are T-sets for classes... They give some class fantasy which I am missing...
A warrior should not have the same look like a pala or a death knight :-(

This is the best addon from Cataclysm for me. The addon has some problems, but you don't see them under the benefits. So I hope the addon doesn't get any worse with new patches

Fantastic leveling. Maybe second best in WoW history. Plenty to do at endgame so far. Lots of quality of life improvements, and most of the things people hated about the last 2 expansions they fixed or changed for the better. Best expansion in a Decade.

Blizzard finally comes with an alt-friendly expansion that brings back the best features of the previous ones. The patch that WoW desperately needed. [Issue#309]

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands certainly manages to capture the same feelings we’ve had since first started playing the game. The leveling experience overhaul, constant sense of progress with rewards, and new campaign stories make Shadowlands a must-have for any avid player.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is a return to greatness for the franchise. The content is both accessible and fun for all types of players, and the story actually makes you feel like everything you’re doing is helping to save the Shadowlands. Torghast is one of the best features ever added and makes each experience unique and fun. While there are some issues which can slow down the time it takes to get everything you want, the journey there is still enjoyable.
