    It's pretty good. Better than past iterations. Good story, less RNG, interesting content, covenants are cool, Torghast is great.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Leveling actually has stories, which is strange for wow. But leveling doesn't make an expansion good, it's just a piece of the puzzle. While I think the story in Ardenweald might be the best in the history of the game in terms of a leveling zone story, (SPOILER: Finding out Ysera was the seed and the payoff cinematic at the end might literally be my favorite WoW moment ever, seriously, I have goosebumps right now thinking about it.) I don't think that alone is what makes this good.

    Firstly lets talk alts. Google the catchup mechanics and also threads of fate. It's one of the best systems they've ever put in the game and it's a game changer.

    I also want to talk about end-game. Dungeons are fun and not too tedious like most in BfA were, the M+ portion is going to be a blast. There seems to be interesting mechanics in each that will hopefully prevent things from getting stale.

    Importantly we need to discuss gear. There is no more incentive to just grind the same repetitive content over and over again once you get your item as was the case with titanforging. If you get lucky on your first dungeon run with all of your BiS pieces? You don't ever have to go there again. You're done. From then on you only have to worry about doing M+. This also applies to the world quests and the other methods of acquiring gear. For the first time in the history of the game they are removing RNG time-gates. You can target and craft your legendary items, no RNG. No titanforging. Less RNG and more rewards from the weekly chest. It's all amazing, it's what these things should have been from the start.

    This expansion is WoW's renaissance. It's got it's flaws, but on the scale of previous WoW expansions, something drastic would have to happen to make this not a 10.    … Expand

    I have done ONLY 4 normal dungeons since I hit 60, and that is only cause they had zone ending dungeon quests, else I would have not set foot in any dungeon at all.

    The PvP system implemented is one of the best that ever existed in WoW, and you can earn gear FROM actually playing PVP, and upgrade it on an ilvl direct proportional with your PvP rating.    … Expand

    They really did a good job this expansion. They eliminated some of the systems from the past 2 expansions that were destroying the game, such as titanforging. The amount of unfun weekly chores that only served as mans to artificially bump up engagement has been drastically reduced. The classes play much better than Legion and BfA, and the unpruning brought back some fan favorite abilitiesThey really did a good job this expansion. There are, of course, the typical early expansion balance problems, but they are applying balancing fixes once every 2 weeks or so, which is a good thing. Overall, I haven't had as much fun in WoW for years. I only hope SL gets better and better as more content patches are released, and I hope they won't make the mistake of going back on the good decisions they made.… Expand

    Really solid title and so many things that went wrong in BFA have been fixed. Most importantly classes feel so much better now! Shadowpriest is amazing!

    Very refreshing as a new expansion. Aside from the extremely beautiful new zones, interesting story, and great levelling experience, systematic changes make the endgame feel great. No infinite grinds, which feels great after the artifact weapons and azerite or Legion and BFA. The gearing changes (removal of titanforging/warforging) also feel great, every piece of gear feels like itVery refreshing as a new expansion. The legendary acquisition system is a perfect mix of accessibility and challenge, revitalizing professions and really making it feel like you are forging your own legendary.     The leveling was smooth, with a ton of story and dialogue to take in. Queues were problematic but it shows the popularity of the game right now and I could log in early so they did not affect me too much. Once in the end game, alts can level through an alternate experience which instantly unlocks end-game abilities and skips the main storyline, avoiding forced repetition.

    The end-game is still mostly locked (raids, m+, rated PvP, most of Torghast including Legendaries) but what I've seen so far feels good, the early levels of Torghast were fun to go through, the Maw end-game zone feels dangerous, especially when solo, dungeons had lots of interesting mechanics and PvP vendors are back, and actually sell the best PvP gear due to the new PvP trinket set bonus. Professions are very simple and take little time to set up and start crafting good items, although there is a lot of investment in order to be able to craft the best Legendaries, as it should be.

    Not to speak of all the treasure / secret / rare / sidequest hunting. World quests are cool to do the first time but quickly get boring, but luckily like the rest of the expansion so far, BARELY ANYTHING FEELS MANDATORY and RNG is at the lowest level in years. There is no war/titan forging anymore, PvP vendors returned and epic BoEs / top-end crafted gear is plentiful and tradeable.

    Hopefully the next weeks are even more fun than the first one, with all the extra content that is incoming, looking forward to it!    … Expand

    A true RPG MMO with an amazing lore and an amazing leveling phase, the end-game is complete and we have more choices to do! Perfect job Blizzard, we need more deep mechanics like this and not more races and classes.

    Players have fought against the Burning Legion for 14 yrs and now need new villain. BFA was not much good for the start, but Shadowlands is good for the climax.

    Im really loving this expansion so far. PVP players finally can gear up only by doing PVP, and that's something i was waiting for years. The story is good, i didnt feel bored with it. Gearing up alts is also easier now, however i thought we will be able to skip more of the storyline what we have already had seen.

Revamped levelling fixes the entry barrier finally making this game accessible to new players. The covenant abilities are fun and add utility you can choose based on which zone you like most. I'm a m+ player and an AOTC into mythic raider, and I can't wait to get intoI absolutely love this expansion.     Most of the classes are balanced, so are the covenants.
    I.e. I personally have never seen an addon whit better balancing of tanks. Also, the start was super smooth. No big bugs, not endless queue times (even on "full" realms) and I really enjoy the addon a lot so far.     Feels like a decent solo game, a lot of really improved cutscenes and good combat. Skills and talents are meaningful gear system and once again they've revived PVP. This game still has everything to live up to its name. The world feels really filled with people, waiting for queues to login.

    A really good storyline and world design coming along with fixing old problems like "campaign" tracking or useless grinding of player item power. The pacts are an innovative idea and it's really fun to play. Torghast with its randomly created dungeon logic (a little greeting of diablo mechanics) is a fresh welcome to the dungeon system of world of warcraft. Fun to play!

    It's an apotheosis from every point of view : Universe, graphics, history, music, group activity...
    If you don't like Shadowland, go back to classic. Retail isn't for you.

    This game brings us back the hole experience of what is World Of Warcraft, you can pass hours leveling and it won't be boring, every minute ia a show of magic and immersion. You can feel a good job done on this expansion.

    As for now after doing full 8/8 m0 dungeon cycle i can tell that i will already love(and hate myself) while playing m+ because dungeons will be really hard, blizzard promised to exclude raiding as something mandatory and they did, now everyone is free to do what    You know why tere are so many "negative" reviews?     As for now after doing full 8/8 m0 dungeon cycle i can tell that i will already love(and hate myself) while playing m+ because dungeons will be really hard, blizzard promised to exclude raiding as something mandatory and they did, now everyone is free to do what they want to do, you're not being forced to do anything and can enjoy which aspect of the game you want without being behind because you skipped other parts of the game.

    There need to be some tuning made before next content update, but overall all of 3 classes and 4 specs i played seemed good on their own.

    It is too early to tell anything more, since first raid is going to be released december 8th and i assume way more content will be announced during blizzcon.

    Best expansion since legion, No infinite grinds, better story, easy leveling, beautiful art, wonderful songs, fun tower levels with crazy powers. I can't wait for raiding to begin!

    На мой взгляд, это просто один из самых лучший аддонов или самый лучший аддон.
    Не хуже легиона уж точно, и скорее всего даже лучше выйдет.
    С первых минут игры чувствуется эпичность и необычность происходящего.
    Квесты понятные и доступные (они озвучены голосом), прокачка цепляет и это первый раз за всё время моей игры в WoW (с 2009) когда на прокачке мне было абсолютно плевать на мой уровень, и я просто проходил все задания и совсем не спешил взять максимальный уровень потому, что было прям интересно.

    I've played WoW since Classic and this is easily the most fun I've had at the start of an expansion since Wrath of the Lich King. I think that the longer the game goes on, the harder it becomes to make any viable plot and pathways for decent story, as you have to veer away from the previous events and create new history to tie off any loopholes. Blizzard once again manages to handle this pretty efficiently and I think that the only people that could complain about that aspect of the expansion are obviously well-versed in the art of writing and have written multiple award-winning, international best selling fantasy novels... or maybe they're just incredibly negative and look for anything to complain about.

    Out of any expansion I've played, this is easily the expansion where Blizzard's work is most tangible. It's clear that they wanted to make changes and improvements and you can feel that at every point throughout expansion. Each zone is incredibly well done, both audibly and visually and I honestly still can't choose a favorite. Covenants, soulbinds, and conduits are a very interesting way to progress through the end game and bolster your character. If anybody is concerned about balance or CLEAR CUT BIS choices, they'd have to swallow the painful and objective truth that is 'meta.' There will always be a meta. You can never completely eliminate a meta. As far as end-game character progression goes, this is pretty good. There's a nice spectrum of balance for things that may work better for your playstyle, even if it's not what's best for the class.

    I won't even get started on Torghast. I'll just say this, I don't know how anybody could be upset with Torghast as it stands, it's the first week, we've only seen two floors... and the ceiling for potential content is so high with how they've designed it.

    If your goal is to preorder a game, start complaining four days after it was released, and post a negative review, I have some advice: Refund the game and stop playing. The atmosphere would be better without people that can't be pleased and refuse to acknowledge that negativity breeds more negativity.

    Thanks Blizzard for more than a decade's worth of hard work.

    One of the best expansions they have done. Made new and returning players welcome with easy to catch up tutorials and experiences. Beautiful new zones, npcs and a compelling story.

    Great expansion! Bastion zone is beautiful and there are lots of things to do. I always have enjoyed this game and never played it as a competitor to hit the max level under hours or so. If you do that you never loved the game at all. For me it is 10 and above, folks!

Ultimately the worst thing about this game as a whole, is the elitist, toxic, childish, and unappreciative vocal minority who put their opinions on their channels or turn it into memes so that their opinion is echoed by the wanderers of the internet who join in on something "for the meme". The player base is the absolute worst thing about the game. League of legends (Which is notoriously toxic) is like a glass of fresh water compared to the venom that is spewed in WoW these days.

    The people giving 0 reviews a few days into the expansion are buffoons. It is literally impossible to have played, experienced, or even unlocked all of the content that was added with this expansion. It is the first week and people are judging the first part of the story (yes the leveling experience is only the first part of the story in ANY given expansion).

    To address some of the "Issues" people have:

    - There doesn't need to be a new class every other expansion. Let them work on balancing the classes they have first. I'm sure the people crying about not getting a new class, are also the people crying that they aren't balanced or "complete". Constantly adding new classes makes balancing more difficult, and causes class homogenization.

    - Saying "Classes unfinished" literally means nothing. Unfinished means incomplete, not "if only we had x ability that I just thought up spot then we'd top the meters! But since that ability doesn't exist the class is unfinished!" By that logic no MMO ever has a "complete class"... Just because your class underperforms from what you want doesn't mean its "unfinished" it just means either you go the short end of the stick and didn't get to be the top of the ranking tier this expansion, and/or you just suck at playing your class. Not every single class can be top tier at the same time. There will always be a best and worst.

    - They don't need to add new races this expansion they literally spent the last expansion adding races to the game.

    - The dungeons have all been great, there is a nice range of difficulties amongst them and I look forward to running keys in them.

    - There are tons of recognizable characters as well as the new ones, if you don't recognize the old ones you obviously didn't play back in the day. They have to introduce new lore, story, and characters in order to keep things interesting. The people who complain about them adding new story and characters basically just want classic.

    -Lets list the recognizable characters in the expansion so far just off the top of my head: Sylvanas, Jaina, Thrall, Baine, Anduin, Tyrande, Bolvar, Calia, Nazgrim, Whitemane, Morgraine, Lady Vasjh, Draka, Uther, Kael'Thas, Kel'Thuzad, Taelia, Vol'jin, Hakkar, Milhouse Manastorm, Mueh'Zala (check classic stranglethorn), and others that i cant recall currently. not to mention ones such as Garrosh (who might show up as he was in the revendreth cine) or even characters like Arthas, who haven't shown up yet but almost definitely will, on top of all the small cameos from minor characters such as Cookie from Deadmines.

    - The professions are much better than they were in some (but not all) of the other expansions, (namely BFA and WoD were way worse). And the fact that they are used to make Legendary gear is a good sign for them maintaining a little more relevance throughout. Although Engineering seems to be lacking so far.

    - The zones are nice overall, but people seem to say they like the look of one and then **** on the rest for not matching the aesthetic they like. They weren't supposed to be the same as each other, of course some neckbearded edgelord isn't going to like bastion or ardenweald. The game is made for more people than just you.

    - The people saying "no new systems or features" are, first of all, forgetting that Torghast was added and the game hasn't had something like that before. On top of that they seem to fail to realize that the systems and features they don't seem to see is in fact the covenant and sanctums. They have literally reused assets and systems since they started releasing expansions for this game. Literally all the way back to BC. They always taken things from past expansions and try to put a new spin on it or change it in some way. stop acting like the gaming industry standard of reusing and rehashing ideas is a new thing. its not a new thing. Just look at Elder Scrolls, Skyrim has literally just been reformatted for different platforms and graphically updated and rereleased exactly the same for the last DECADE.

    - People seem to fail to realize that you will get more content as you upgrade your covenant? And that it takes time to do so? And that "time gating" is used to prevent the aforementioned neckbeards from tearing through the whole expansion in a week and then crying that there is no new content for the next few months while the rest of us play like sane people who have jobs, lives, and families outside of the game.    … Expand

    Played through the Story, capped all the stuff i have to cap in ~15-20 hours played on Max level so far.
    Perfect for casual players and for the type of player who sink in to a game.
    The Dungeons are beautiful, the Boss fights are awesome, can´t wait for the Raid to open.
    Even the pvp is fun again with no gear scaling.

    Everything from the endgame to the quality of life improvements are the best that WoW has seen. For the first time in WoW history, Blizzard figured out how to make decent looking in-engine cutscenes and it made the story much more memorable even if it wasn't exactly my cup of tea.

    This is a perfect time to jump in for the first time or to return after a long hiatus.

The zones are well done and the story line is an enticing little morsel that makes you crave resolution but leaves you wanting more. UUUUUUUGH Its got me just dripping with excitement!     No1: The first launch ever in which I haven't faced any Lag or Bug issues, everything was smooth and the way it was intended.
    No2: Blizzard learned their mistakes with non-alt friendly systems, such as essences, corruptions, artifact/azerite powers, etc.    I have played every expansion launch since Wrath of the Lich King, and this must be the best expansion launch ever, for a few reasons.
    No1: The first launch ever in which I haven't faced any Lag or Bug issues, everything was smooth and the way it was intended.
    No2: Blizzard learned their mistakes with non-alt friendly systems, such as essences, corruptions, artifact/azerite powers, etc. Even questing, now you must go through campaign quests in only one character, after that, you may level up the way you most desire, free of penalties or other consequences.
    No3: the expansion theme is fresh, authentic with new lore stuff that continue stories that we thought were over.
    No4: we have less RNG in gearing systems, for both pvp and pve. Players can once again do all their gearing through pvp. Farming legendaries isn't an issue, as it was in Legion expansion, or other inconvenient systems we had before, such as war/titanforging and corruptions.

    Everyone telling this expansion launch is not good, don't really know what they're looking for. They're just criticising a good job from Blizzard after the overall opinion that BfA was bad. They have fixed what players said "made BfA bad", and still players criticise the game.    … Expand

Borrowed power I get, they've been at that since Legion and it does feel bad at the end of the xpac. UI is a non-issue when the game supports addons. I won't comment on server problems, I play on a low pop server and haven't been dc'd once or had to queue. Levelling feels fantastic this time around imo. Then given the levelling revamp, not really sure what the issue is for people here.

    Not many features? That's just a straight up lie. Covenants, Torghast, Soulbinds/conduits, legendary crafting, Classic has raid logging, that's about it. Launch did have issues for some, for me it's been smooth as butter. A crap load of content was added, again see features above.

    As to Covenants, choice and balance. I was a cynical POS going into this, I picked my Covenant based on power. I'm part of a pretty regular group. We have members that went BIS Covenant and members who went worst because it was one they liked. We have yet to notice any real difference in terms of player power. I'm sure it's there, but it's negligible. This'll probably change a bit once the raid comes out and people start logging. At the very least that'll change community perception towards the "worst" choices. But honestly, I'm fine with it having played it now, it's not nearly the big issue we thought it would be. Currently my biggest concerns are aimed towards soulbinds and changing between them with different specs.

    So ye, I'll leave it there as a lot of the other reasons listed are either incomprehensible due to spelling and grammar errors, or just repeating ones already addressed.

    TLDR: I honestly think this is at least Legion levels of good. I had zero expectations going into this because of Blizzard over the last number of years but I'm pleasantly surprised. If they can address some of the problems that exist, this could be a very, very good expansion. I look forward to what we have to come. And I have one piece of advice. If you're enjoying yourself and think it's good, stay off forums for a few weeks (including Reddit). People will taint your own opinion with their **** and reading half of these reviews, they're left by people I can only conclude haven't actually bothered playing the game to end game.    … Expand

    Amazing job Blizzard. I have had many times where I lost faith in the capabilities of the Studio. But I hope this is a sign of things to come later in the expansion. Classic revived my passion for the game and I hoped that one day I would play retail again. Coming from Classic to this has been fantastic so far.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like that the leveling and intro quest chain through all zones are largely aligned. No more max level at 2 zones and missing all the content.

    Also, I can't speak for all the covenants, but the night fae induction is friggin hilarious! Kudos to the writers on that one, the who sequence is awesome.

    The covenant progression so far feels good. Honor bound, anima, renown, a few ways to grind.

    The new solo/group instance seems pretty legit. If you ever wanted to play Diablo with your wow character, this is your chance.

    The zones are huge and all have very distinctive feels, and the interesting moral dilemma each presents is interesting. The launch was incredibly smooth. Only issue I saw in the first few days was a world server being down for a couple of hours.
    Also, with the newest gear specs, it's been super easy to bounce between tanking and dps, so getting quick queues is easier than ever.    … Expand

I just hit level 60 and am nearly finished with the Ardenweald story, and I had to stop to write this. The quests alternate between "just pure fun" with a sense of humor and serious story. The cutscenes can be downright "MY EMOTIONS" at times, which I didn't expect at all. I actually stopped playing only a few hours in on release day because I knew this was a game I wanted to savor (and oops I'm max level already, I've been bingeing it since). This might be my favorite expansion of all, which I realize is a big claim. I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far and I hope it's not over too soon. (Will that be my fault for rushing, or will that be evidence of not enough content? Who knows!) I just wanted to give an honest, thoughtful review because I'm really delighted with it and offended by all of these...frankly garbage, immature comments here.     Best expansion! Rares are now little adventures. Side quest have one long story and mechanics. Graphic is beautiful. Dungeons are super interesting.
    Whole vibe of SL is Destiny meeting Planescape Torment.

    World of Warcraft: Shadowlands certainly manages to capture the same feelings we’ve had since first started playing the game. The leveling experience overhaul, constant sense of progress with rewards, and new campaign stories make Shadowlands a must-have for any avid player.

    World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is a return to greatness for the franchise. The content is both accessible and fun for all types of players, and the story actually makes you feel like everything you’re doing is helping to save the Shadowlands. Torghast is one of the best features ever added and makes each experience unique and fun. While there are some issues which can slow down the time it takes to get everything you want, the journey there is still enjoyable.
