While Warframe may sound like a good idea the stages and fights are often repetitive and after a certain amount of time get old. I could never get into the game and the repetitiveness will, after a certain point, make you want to burn your PC just to be rid of the game.

I couldn't get into the art, the story is sub par compared to what's out there. The missions are a repeat, rehash...and get pretty boring fairly quickly. The parkuor stuff was neat, but they don't expand on it's gameplay at all.

And the ai feels dated by roughly ten years.

I feel not much thought was put into this game other than the store items...

I used to really love this game, now its gone way downhill, first of all its boring and i cant play a single game without the game loosing connection (my WiFi stays on and everything) the game just takes me back to the menu FOR NO REASON so i cant progress at all because it doesn't let you keep anything if you get kicked out of the game because warframe network sucks

2K hour veteran, the game used to be great when it innovated and responded to what the community wanted. In it's current state content is stagnant, prices are insane for what they unlock, every patch introduces 2x the bugs it fixes...... The amount of work and time that needs to be dedicated to this game is not justified by horrendous endgame, time gated events, **** release schedule.

I'd say moderate enjoyment the first couple planets you explore through. The big issue with the game is end game. There is no pvp system really in place to make the game fun. There is a pvp system but in the same way that Diablo 3 has a pvp system. Power balancing is an enormous problem with the game. If that sorta thing doesn't Phase you then it's a pretty fun game. Personally, I really detest the power difference in mele and ranged weapons when you get to the end game. End game could have had some sort of elites or something interesting. Instead we get........ Value scaling. If you like grinding endlessly for marginally better gear so an eternity later you can bump up the difficulty a touch then this is the game for you. The game was buggy as all hell when I played it in 2013, and it's buggy as hell now. When I picked it up again recently I'd play maybe 6 hours a day for a while and I'd have the game break maybe once a day. After 7 years of time to patch things I'm completely shocked some of these bugs persist. I had to do a boring, unfun long story line quest only to have it glitch me to the start of the quest. Over an hour of tedious mind numbing crap I could care less about. That is actually where I put down the game for good because I opened a support ticket and they told me "sorry that happens, you'll just have to complete it again." lmao, no thanks I'll just stop playing and supporting the game. This is a game you will really want to like because it has parts of it that are so, so good. To me though that is completely, and totally worthless when there's no drive for it all. The guns have major balance issues of total trash to overpowered as hell. In the end you are grinding a resource to re roll items and that's it. Well, that and unlocking cosmetics which I really have no interest in. They could have had raids. They could have had pvp grounds, or clan pvp's. They could have had some actual point to the end of the game. They could have fixed some of the bugs that just ruin any immersion to be found in the game. On the first level you will fight 3 factions with like 7 or 8 units per faction. And then you will see and kill those same units for the rest of the game. There will be maybe 1 variation of a unit on some levels but that's it. It gets, extreeeeeeeeemly boring doing so. I would have loved some enemy modifiers like double damage, fast, explode on death, anything. Instead I'm doing at the 100 hour mark that i was at the 10 hour mark with just different values scaled. Seeing how little has been done over the years I'll give it 2, maybe 3 more years till the entire community get sick of the same **** for years with minimal changes. Releasing more characters insnt really helpful when each new one further breaks any sense of balance. They definitely follow the "newer is stronger" model to get their stuff sold. The store to me is an obscene joke. They will offer $40 for a warframe and some cosmetics when you can get $10 worth of platinum and build the same thing for effectively $0.10 to $3. Either people dont know they can do this or are lazy to get the stuff to make it but $40 for a frame and some cosmetics is pretty rediculous. All in all I feel as disappointed as getting to the Diablo 3 end game because if you know anything about that, it's virtually exactly the same. Spend endless hours getting better 5% at a time until 3 eons later you have some stacked gear so you can kill pointless mobs at light speed. What a waste of potential. Im glad they have the money and resources for a convention each year (tennocon) but not to fix bugs that erase an hour of gameplay (in a very frustrating spot) for no reason what so ever. They just give a shrug to the situation and move on to releasing the next big broken frame to sell. Save your time, save your money (the game is pay 2 play, not pay 2 win and the model isn't too bad) and go find something else. You will get hooked and inevitably be left with disappointment and regret of time wasted. Expand

Used to like the game. But I recently got back and got forced through hours of "the new war" quest **** Dont want to play the quest? You can just exit the game - and thats what I did. Exit and uninstall. This **** ruined a really nice game. Would give a 0/10. That 1 point is just pure compassion for the good time the game once used to bring.

It looks nice at first, all the ninja, enemies and all that stuff (from a design perspective) it's actually pretty awesome. But the game itself is boring, lackluster and a huge grind fest. Also, it promotes into oblivion all the Nvidia Crap PhysX so it is a no go for AMD users (making the game like it's holding out on features on purpose and leaves an empty space).

The constant reusing of level layouts will become apparent after a few missions and the MMO style ''kill dozens upon dozens of the same faceless mobs grinding will make the missions seems even more repetitive when you need about a days worth of grind plus the manufacturing time which is minimum 12 hours and can get up to days depending on the item on new weapons and warframes.
And imo the most important aspect of this game that should be highlighted is the fact that the developers are giving hints of making this game P2W. I will explain:
Warframes are basically the characters you play as each having very different stats and powers to make them unique. They can be bough from the cashshop or farmed from the different bosses in the game which although takes a lot of time I am fine with The interesting part comes in the fact that in the time of writing this review there are 3 warframes with the tag ''Prime'' basically very hard to make versions of existing warframes ).
One of them is a TIMED EXCLUSIVE BUY ONLY version of Excalibur. Looking at the free ones you would think that the only difference between a prime and non-prime would be looks and polarities bonus stats for equibable items and seeing as polarities have a free version way of getting them you would ask me what the problem was seeing as apparently the only thing a free user would lose is the looks of the Excalibur Prime. Unfortunately that is not true the Excalibur Prime has a higher shield regeneration than its counterpart something which the other 2 FARMABLE PRIMES don't have.
In conclusion I would recommend anyone thinking of trying this out to keep in mind the extreme repetitiveness of missions both in layout and objectives, the very long time required just to get new weapons and warframes and most importantly the fact that developer has shown signs of giving this game which has PVP MODE items that are buy only which are better than the free versions making it P2W.

I found Warframe uninspired, boring, and uncompelling (although the skinner boxes were clearly apparent and undisguised). The UI was horrible. For example, after gaining a level in a weapon, a button related to it would flash even though there was nothing you could do with it if you clicked that button, and clicking it would not make it stop flashing. By default, if you attempted to start a mission, it would drop you into someone else's already-in-progress mission with no explanation and not tell you what had already happened. There's also no explanation of how to use the UI, or install mods, so you're left to figure that out yourself, and not informed when you're able to do so. If you don't explore all the menus and realize what the numbers mean, you won't realize you can equip your first power (or later powers, although they take exponentially more levels to gain, and I stopped before getting them).

The first time I tried to start the first mission, it dropped me into one which another player had nearly completed, and completed it without my assistance, and I was left with the impression that the levels were one small deck, lasted about 2 minutes, and had no sensible instructions because that was all I saw until I realized what had happened and started the mission again on single-player (which is still hosted by their servers). They're actually much bigger, and randomly generated, and you do get a minimum of instructions as you start each game, and as it goes on. But if you just join a game you get thrown into it in the middle it doesn't bother to matchmake players and start new games with them, it just throws you into existing ones.

The enemies, at least for the beginning two or three missions, are all identical, shooting them in the head does not kill them (it does slightly more damage), and yet they were not particularly entertaining to fight and the only real concerns were not to let them get close, and "where the hell are these red balls that keep appearing on me and exploding coming from?"

I also ran into half a dozen bugs, some extremely frustrating, in the first 5 minutes I tried the game, which is amazing (I ran into none in a week of playing War Thunder, and it too is in beta, and nothing approaching that bug density in PS2's beta). (It got better after I uninstalled the game, waited a couple days, reinstalled it, and tried it again with no other players but the game is supposed to be about playing with other people, not singleplayer, so if it's buggy with other people, that's a problem)

So: Lack of attention to bugs, terrible UI, no explanation of the UI or how to install mods, powers do not automatically become available as you level up, matchmaking drops you into the middle or end of missions that you have never played before, skinner boxes, non-compelling gameplay, and I did not even mention all the things with gameplay benefits (better weapons, etc) that you can only acquire with real money. Some items can be acquired with in-game points, some can not, and if the amount of 'platinum' currency they give you to start with is equivalent to $10, then those items must be extremely overpriced (because they're more expensive).

I haven't even been able to try the game, so maybe it's got some great game play, but from what I've read, I'm not missing out. Watching the update bar fill and reset in the updater has not been a fun experience, and while it's been monetarily free, I would like to demand a refund of my time; this game owes me a small portion of my life back. This review is for a product that literally does not work at all for some people, so it's getting a zero.

    - Free to play?
Before you invest your time and money in this potentially wonderful but actually disappointing game please read on.
Welcome to Warframe where you will be asked to invest real money to buy in game platinum currency which is used in a nonrefundable manner to purchase items that improve your otherwise useless "free" weaponry.
Then watch your weaponry (for which you have paid real money) get arbitrarily destroyed by nerfing. While new items are then offered to you in the market for real cash to replace your now useless weapons.
Alternatively you will be asked to grind out 100 missions in a "special Event" for a promised reward weapon.
You do the grind you get a nice weapon that looks worth investing real cash in in order to make it a respectable end game weapon. Then weeks later after spending your real money and wihtout any warning the nice weapon you got gets basically destroyed by a major nerf from the developers and the weapon is simply no longer useful.
This has been a recurring theme for this game for months now and the veteran gamers are extremely unhappy with this business model.
The developers have repeatedly encouraged players to spend real money on an allegedly F2P game to get decent weaponry and then they have repeatedly trashed those weapons to the point of uselessness only to introduce a new weapon for real currency rinse and repeat.

Case in point a weapon called the Soma offered for sale for real cash and a weapon slot purchased for real money weapon purchased then subsequently the stats significantly change from the purchased weapon stats rendering it far worse and in fact useless in many parts of the game.
    Case in point -
A weapon called the strunwraith shotgun offered as a reward for time invested in special event which the developers used to test a new game format.
Event done weapon awarded then subsequently "nerfed" to the point of being put back on the shelf. Oh yes this weapon also consumed real cash for a weapon slot and for upgrades to make it truly useful.
    Current Case in point -
A weapon called the Brakk again an event reward for running over 100 missions! 100 mission! That is a HUGE investment.
And again the warframe developers arbitrarily ruined the weapon after many people had invested real cash upgrading it too.

The behavior of the game developer here, DE, is at best abusive and indifferent to the gaming community. But it also constitutes engaging in deceptive and unethical business practice.
I would strongly encourage the gaming community to avoid spending any more real cash on this game until a little well deserved respect is shown and this reprehensible bait and switch business practice is terminated .
If you don't believe me then go to the warframe forums page and read the now 27 pages of 540 postings of extremely angry gamers. It says way more than I ever could.
Avoid this game like the plague.
    thank you

Digital Extremes has created something that's often genuinely fun to play, and given the cost of entry, Warframe's well worth a try if you're in the mood for something different.

DE got 200 people working on this, yet they decided to A. kill end game. B. Allow exploits without consequence even though the community is outrageous. C. Game currency will cost your dinner + lunch.

Archwing could have been a redeeming factor if the Arches played more like Gundams and the enemies were more like Mobile Suits, however you are just a monkey with a rocket pack fighting miners on hovercrafts. DE should have never ported to PS4 (and even worse to xbox) if they had no intentions of running Crossplay. And to top it off I had to start from ZERO on PC because DE wont let me transfer my frames, mods or weapons? Oh well, Paragon will be the game you wish Warframe could be. And to be honest, it is really, really awful. The graphics are okay, the gunplay is horrible and before getting a new frame or weapon I have to farm and farm mats and blueprints, then wait and farm more. This game is just farming 3 different enemies in 5 different level designs with really nothing to do. Repetetive content all over the game.

    -100+ Missions sharing . . .
-only 5 Maps with extremely repetitive map layout
-few gamemodes with the objective to kill all or defend and kill all
-a very very very bad AI, best at not killing you
-quiet bad game sound, most of us players have Warframe muted
-long loading & connecting times between missions (SSD & 8-core)
-lag, due to player hosted at every time
-30fps or lower due to the extremely bad optimised “Evolution Engine” (GTX 970)
-and a game being in beta for 2 years, only getting worse -> most importantly more PAY2WIN.

    Digital Extreme: Ninjas Play Free!
Players: Cool. Well it took me 5 hours but now I got this blueprint for my second weapon, what do I do with it?
Digital Extreme: (Grins) First you farm a lot for the resources then you’re going to wait 12 more hours for it to finish. OR you buy the weapon in the market for 5€ only.
Players: Oh okay, ill craft it overnight then. (night passes) Wait, now it says I don’t have enough inventory space for it, what can I do? And what about Warframes?
    Digital Extreme: Pay us.

I know, to make something it takes money, or passion. They have enough money, easily – but have no idea how to make a game – good. Grindfest =/= Fun. They don’t listen to the community. They nerf and delete things we liked, worked ingame and implement things we never need or asked. The Devs ignore even the simplest requests. I have yet to see a more arrogant bunch of developers.

No lore, you can fantasize about it, but there is none.
No quests, you can call your missions quests if you want, that’s what the developers do.
No endgame, you read right, no endgame. Just the same missions and enemies all over again.

But the best (worst) part about the game is the progression (experience) mechanic. Using your cool stuff to level up sounds really good, but not in Warframe. I wont go into details but I can say to use your weapon/warframe you have to level it to 30. Which takes many hours!
Digital Extreme: But wait, you can buy boosters to level quicker! And a catalyst to make it 60 (not just 30)!

That’s basically what you (cant) hear but see everywhere in the whole game. Pay us & grind free.
I discussed a lot with people why Warframe has such a high user scoring on “Metacritic” and we came to the point it’s because about the first few hours, it looks good, many weapons, warframes and a lot to do.

Every update just includes more weapons MUCH more to grind, just to level them and throw away afterwards, nothing fun. There are no improvements, no engine fixes, no nothing. You spam 1 key ingame and win.

It is addicting somewhat somehow (at first), you want more, better weapons, the best actually! 50 hours of grind is enough and you will have access to everything ingame. And that’s exactly the point you realize how much time you wasted and now that you finally have your weapon - there’s nothing more.

    --Longer review ahead--

The initial review I wrote out for this game, while more comprehensive, exceeded the character limit handily by the time I was anywhere near happy, so I chose to just go with a short(er) summary. There is a phrase that goes "Quit while you're ahead", Digital Extremes should quit while they're so far behind that they disappeared over the horizon.

I've been playing intermittently since 2012, and from June 2020 to Jan. 2021, I've consumed a large amount of the content the game has had to offer, and I'm noticing a pattern of poorly thought out concepts, with an equally lackluster quality of design and implementation, then never really touched again. They also seem insistent on trying to add open world content, despite the fact that they're currently 0 for 3 attempts, it's all the same timegated, frustrating core systems with a different coat of paint, though I will give Deimos as an environment props for the uniqueness of the zone.

The end result is, in a word, somewhat schizophrenic and thoroughly just below average in terms of gameplay design, and absolutely abysmal in regards to the near constant bugs and hamfisted monetization.

The only way I see this turning around is if the playerbase manages to stage some kind of intervention on the absurd level of monetization, the absurd lack of focus and the absurd low quality gameplay design, but I simply don't see this happening. Download it on your platform of choice, try it, and if it's not to your liking after a few days, uninstall it and walk away, because it doesn't get any better. If I had literally any other options for MMORPGs or nearest equivalent, I'd have quit months ago.

New update and new creative director completely just destroyed every reason to play this game. Forcing a extremely dated and what can only be called an early 90's attempt at a new mode is complete abject failure. It throws everything a player loves about warframe away for a clunky restricted retro type mode that has zero nostalgia. It is the antithesis of warframe. The game is dead

This game tries too hard to be something that its not, a fast paced over the top action that's fun in the first few hours but gets so repetitive and boring you'll be asking yourself, "What have i done to deserve this cruel punishment?" And that's not the only thing wrong with the combat, it's so unbelievably broken and unbalanced. That doesn't really help with the pvp which is just a joke.
The microtransactions are absurd. Do you want to change a colour on your suit? Well to bad you have to pay $5 just for ONE set of colours ;) Oh what's this? You want to play a different teno suit? Well you can grind for over 50-300 hours and then wait another 3 days for the blueprint to finish OR you could just pay $50 to have it right now.
This entire game is focused around the microtransactions. That's literally it. That's why this game still, after years, has thousands of bugs, AI as choppy as can be and a ridiculous amount of grinding. It is NOT worth your time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. [No, reviewers, you can't make me change my score by downvoting the review. The game is paytoplay.] Honestly one of the worst games that emphasis on micro-transactions. You need platinum for warframe slots, weapons slots, color palettes. Holy mother of god. Even Adventure Quest Worlds was better, in AQW they give at least 40 slots when the game first released. Meanwhile, Warframe is like, you have grind for the class, you have to grind for the weapons, OKAY STOP, you didn't pay the toll to keep your items, PAY TO PLAY! Farming for free platinum is a pipe dream, the vaulted items are hard to come by. The worst part is host migration, there is no penalty for leaving the campaign and most of the time I got stucked in a mission with Lvl 60 enemies. Expand

The game is a good game with good lore and has a ride or die fans playing supporting the devs it isn't complicated but if your a below average gamer this could have a lot of problems with your play through but that is mostly all of the problems you can counter besides the fact that there is the keyboard not working glitch then if your a pc player you are done for unless you are luckyThe game is a good game with good lore and has a ride or die fans playing supporting the devs it isn't complicated but if your a below average gamer this could have a lot of problems with your play through but that is mostly all of the problems you can counter besides the fact that there is the keyboard not working glitch then if your a pc player you are done for unless you are lucky but aside all of that you get a easy to run game with gorgeous graphics even on the lowest quality that works fluently with a big solar system to search every little fun activity while getting to be a beefy boy eating bullets as if it was candy. TL:DR play it unless you are bad at gaming Expand

Warframe is a shockingly polished free-to-play action game that boasts great visuals, gameplay, and replay value. Unfortunately, grinding and odd design choices bog down the late-game experience.

Play Warframe. Play it for more than a few hours, preferably with friends, and keep an open mind into doing some third-party research to straighten out some of these systems. Warframe takes so much of what makes ARPG’s addictive, and rounds it out with more polish and depth than most its competitors on the current games market. If the hooks aren’t deeply embedded by then, maybe something this in-depth isn’t for you.

The idea with the Tamagotchi-space-dogs is already absolutely amazing.
