    It seems that the Dontnod took up a vampires theme against the background of the success of "Blood and wine". It would be good if not abominable implementation of Vampyr. Pros: interesting concept, which was shown in the first teaser. Dontnod tried to make at least a couple of interesting NPCs, Lady Ashbury and Sean Hampton plus main character - Jonathan E. Reid, but apparently Dontnod orIt seems that the Dontnod took up a vampires theme against the background of the success of "Blood and wine". It would be good if not abominable implementation of Vampyr. Pros: interesting concept, which was shown in the first teaser. Dontnod tried to make at least a couple of interesting NPCs, Lady Ashbury and Sean Hampton plus main character - Jonathan E. Reid, but apparently Dontnod or Focus Home Interactive wanted to release the game as soon as possible and as a result, devs couldn't do it qualitatively.. But everything else is disgusting: combat system, level design, character animation, cardboard dolls instead of interesting characters, the chaos system doesn't work, because of the lack of interesting characters, so chaos system just doesn't care, weak plot, the mechanics of the game are repetitive and boring. The vampire Mr. Reid cannot knock out doors and locks, and, you need to spend time in the same mazes again and again. Vampyr tries to copy ideas from different projects, and the same time it doesn't have its own individuality.

    This is a game that would have been a bad AAA in 2005. I would not even call it a AAA now. This should be around $25 not more.

    The design is bland and uninspired. The presentation is beyond amateurish. Controls, camera and combat feel cheap and have no weight or punch to it. The environments are bland.     The "story" is as uninspired as the design. The voice acting is mediocre at best and the multiple choice dialog system was all the rage 10 years ago. "You are bitten by a Super Vampire, you "accidentally" kill your sister, you are hunted, you need to find whoever made you into a vampire." What a dreadful boring story.

    Of cause they had to throw in a skill system and crafting system that is as uninspired and boring as the rest of the game. They should have spent more time on combat animations sound and design in general.

    Stay away from this unless its in a bargain bin and even then you will regret the purchase.    … Expand

    Vampyr already starts with an intense and heavy prologue to already let the player involved with the story, even though this may leave him a little lost about how the game will be since the first hour of play is fairly linear. You take on the role of Dr. Jonathan Reid, a renowned physician who served in the war and has now been transformed and seeks answers and revenge from those who did this to you. The story is rather focused on the city of London, devastated by an epidemic.
    The Vampyr universe is greatly expanded in terms of mythologies and cultures, creating space for various types of organizations and groups in the game, such as secret vampire societies, shady sororities, hunter groups, and high-class vampire societies that govern the region, as well as other things that you discover throughout the game. The game is full of characters, each with its own characteristics and missions. Although Vampyr's promotional images that show cities full of people moving and interacting are a deceptive advertisement, you really feel inside a living and functional place.
    In the game you will need to know how to divide your bloodthirsty vampire side with your renowned doctor side, taking advantage to feed on these characters or helping them and improving the city. Your choices will affect the direction of the story of the game, as well as the direction of each city district and the destination of the characters that are there. As the game progresses (the main story takes 15 to 20 hours to be completed) the story is getting as intense as the prologue but leaving more room for choices rather than demotivating linearity.
    A big problem of the game is to force you to have a certain personality and affection for a certain character, something that I as a player did not understand where it came from and I could not relate because of the choices I made in the game. The DONTNOD Entertainment team had done something similar and forced on Life is Strange and it seems they made the same mistake.
    Gameplay
    As Vampyr it is an RPG of choices, open world and full of combat, I will divide this session into two parts: Choices and Combat.
    In terms of choices, the game has more effect on your actions than on dialog options. While it's amazing that you can just go on an NPC that would normally give you several missions, interact with the world around you and simply choose to kill him to quench your blood thirst (and gain a lot, but a lot XP with it), the dialogue options are almost always limiting and in the whole game only in 3 or 4 moments you will make big decisions because of these options. In some moments where you think you need to make a decision of extreme importance in the game, he chooses the destiny for you as well.
    Whenever you sleep, that is when you can evolve, the game shows the results of your actions in each district, showing if the district has become healthier or gone into chaos. Depending on the level of the district, certain NPCs will act differently and may improve the status of some and in worse cases, leading to the death of others.
    Already in combat, the game is sensational in every way. The combat is very similar to Witcher 2 and 3 (this is not going to be the last time I'll use Witcher for reference in this review), except that instead of being a hunter with equipment prepared to defeat a certain monster, you are the monster needing to watch out for hunters who know all their weaknesses. The game does not have a lot of variety of enemies (inferior vampires, hunters, monsters and vampires of high level), but knows to vary in the abilities that each one of them has as you get stronger in the game, which is great since, in a universe only of vampires, to escape of the pattern with enemies only to satisfy the will of the combat player, would be a negative point in the whole lore of the game.
    Hunters will only start with swords, torches and silver pistols, but as you progress through the game, the same hunters will start to carry crosses, garlic, higher precision rifles and even flamethrowers! The same goes for lower vampires, who will be stronger and have some new abilities. High level vampires find you only in some areas of the game and will start to use more skills similar to yours.
    Another thing the game has in common with Witcher 3 (not that this is Witcher 3's original or inspired by it), is the Witcher's sense. In the case of Vampyr, vampire sense. And it works the same way and is used by the game in the same way, you change your you change your vision to follow traces of blood or see enemies hidden by the map. Unlike the Witching sense, the vampire sense is not so charged to be used in so many missions and can be used more strategically by the player to avoid fighting or locating things hidden by the map.

    And when I say recently awakened, I mean seconds ago: During the amazing first scene of the game, Jonathan crawls out of a mass grave and wanders around incoherently until    If you ever wanted to vacation in Victorian Era London and see for yourself what Old Charles Dickens was going on about, you can now slip into the boots of Jonathan Reid, famous surgeon, and recently awakened vampire.

    And when I say recently awakened, I mean seconds ago: During the amazing first scene of the game, Jonathan crawls out of a mass grave and wanders around incoherently until he stumbles into his first kill. The game puts an incredibly strong first food foot forward.

    Can the game keep that spectacular level of engagement up throughout? Not quite, but it keeps it going for quite a while, and certain aspects stay strong all the way. First thing to mention is the amazing environmental design. The color palette with its grays and browns and only the occasional splash of crimson oozes atmosphere. The mood and sense of place that the environment evokes are second to none.

    The people living in this splendidly rendered hellscape of a city are just as amazing. Almost all of them are well-written, deep characters. Some of them are tragic, some despicable, most of them have a few skeletons in the closet, and almost all of them are so very compellingly human. Some of them have a bad case of the uncanny valley face, and generally, the character design isn’t as strong as the environmental one, but still: These people feel alive and real and tragic and pitiful… It’s great!

    Gameplay-wise, the game has two modes: Walking simulator and combat.

    Combat copies a lot from Dark Souls: There is a stamina meter governing the amount of attacking and dodging you can do, there are a bunch of vampiric talents, even the most exotic of these have a grounded feeling that fits well with the established grounded and realistic mood. Still, it’s not all sunshine and violence: The hit detection isn’t quite as precise as it could be, some NPC attacks are barely telegraphed and the controls could stand to be quite a bit tighter. Still, the system is robust enough to allow skilled players to win fights with more than ten levels of experience disparity. You don’t need to do that, though, you can always eat more people. I’m getting to that.

    In safe quarters, conversation is king. Every person you meet has an opinion on the general situation, a personal story to divulge and 3 to 5 secrets to uncover. These hidden truths can be uncovered by eavesdropping on folks (an easy matter of lurking in the shadows until people behave shady and then finding the one highlighted spot where they can be observed) or by confronting them with secrets already discovered and then picking the right conversation choice. This system is usually quite forgiving, but it is possible to fail.

    The writing is great in these section: Almost all of these people were compelling characters, and the more I got to know them, the more I sympathized with most of them. This is of course what the game wants, because, as a vampire, Jonathan Reid has the option to snack on any one of them and get himself a huge boost of XP, the more secrets he has discovered, the bigger.

    There is crafting in this game, It’s not just weapons you can tape together. Jonathan is also a doctor, and with that trait on his character sheet comes the responsibility to keep the population healthy, at least if Jonathan doesn’t want his collection of blood bags to degrade in quality. He does that with self-made medicine, and it’s another way to earn XP, besides combat, snooping, pursuing the main story and eating people.

    I enjoyed that part of the game quite a bit, at first. The game sells the fantasy of being a Victorian doctor making the rounds in a plague-ridden cesspool hard. But there comes a point where everybody is healthy and every secret has been ferreted out, and then this part of the game just… stops. You can’t do anything with the information you uncover. The only thing you can do to effect change is kill people, and there’s only one or two cases where that would affect positive change. Also, the game judges you for it. This means that the morally correct course according to Vampyr is inaction: To simply let the sometimes quite severe tragedies you’ve uncovered continue.

    The main plot, meanwhile, does a good job structuring the traversal of the open world. When it comes to story, I would describe it as uneven. Some scenes are greatly engaging. Other times the script does a disservice to the plot, with uninspired dialogue. Some of the most interesting parts of the tale get too short a shrift, other times mistimed exposition dumps deflate the tension. It held together well enough to keep me engaged to the end

    As mentioned before: The technical aspects are serviceable to spectacular: Environmental design is great, lighting is great, character design is mostly fine, the score is unobtrusive, most vocal performances are fine, and I never had any problem with stability.

    This game has been surprisingly an enjoyable experience. I've had this game for a long time and I'm glad I was able to play it.

    Pros:
    + Great storyline, rich with mystery and interesting characters
    + The ability to tailor your story based on your decisions
    + Graphics are not the greatest but stand in a positive form
    + Combat is simple and doesn't have a complex learning curve
    + Interesting leveling system

    Cons:
    - Combat can feel somewhat difficult at times because of the lock system because you'll end up missing hits and just get you to die often because of it
    - I've encountered some small bugs regarding audio and getting blocked
    - Minor crashes, but nothing too serious
    - No feature to fast-travel between the areas of the city, for some it might be immersive, but sometimes it takes a lot of time for you to travel from one point to another
    - The leveling system can be somewhat strange because you're not leveling up until you go to bed, so it can put you into some situations where you're absolutely destroyed by 1-2 hits from enemies who end up being 10-15 levels above you. This only happens if you decide to not kill and consume anyone.

    Overall the game had been great and I warmly recommend trying this game out. I'd rate if 10/10 for it's vampire storytelling and a strong 8/10 for its overall game. I look forward to maybe a sequel or some sort.    … Expand

    - the ending (a bit anticlimactic)
    - big loading times
    - some unfortunate (and very obvious) "woke" moments
    Overall, good game, 8/10. If the ending was better, it would have been a solid 8.5/10.

    Solid game! Enjoyed particularly the story, the atmosphere and the voice acting. Gameplay gets old too quickly and by the end of the game it's not that fun, but it's cool overall.

    It is not revolutionary but has a great story, nice gameplay and was really pleasant to play through. I really enjoyed the fact that all your actions have consequences and that you choose to be evil - kill everyone and be the most powerful or to be good - and raise your skills more slowly through killing only monsters.     Innovative and atmospheric RPG. This is an underrated little gem! Convincingly combines RPG with TPP-action and adventure elements. Even reminds "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments" a bit. Love it!

    1 - Great atmosphere of old London - graphics are maybe dated - but really very nice stylistically

    Vampyr is a hidden gem.
    I was reluctant to play this due to the low review scores but in my opinion it is probably the best RPG I have played in the last few years.
    The combat is a bit wonky but honestly that doesnt matter much because the story and characters are truly compelling.

    Vampyr has the best of both worlds. Fun fighting with vampire skills as well as a very rich and deep story which is very rare in today's action games. For this game to unleash it's full potential you have to be willing to listen to A LOT of dialogues as well as read some files. The whole story, the characters and the atmosphere are very well done. Every character has his/her own story and different opinions. It never gets boring. The only question is if you can buy into the dark vibe of this game. Fighting is fun and the boss fights are challenging at times but never unfair. If you are coming from a Dark Souls background like me they are rather easy. You can pick and choose between different vampyire skills and upgrade them once you got enough points or should I say enough blood ? Of course there are also melee and range weapons to pick from. Decisions really matter in this game and you will see the consequences of your decisions later on in the game. This is a nice concept and unfortunately it's very rare in today's video games. It took me 35 hours to finish so this isn't a short game by any means. So if you are looking for a story-driven action game in a very dark and even depressing setting this is the right game for you. I've enjoyed every minute of it.    … Expand

    - The game evokes different emotions, it's great!
    - I also like the graphics and despite the fact that the characters' faces look like they were from the game a few years ago, they MATCH this world, they are truly "movie-like"
    - The combat system without auto-tracking is great ((I RECOMMEND SWITCHING OFF IN OPTIONS BECAUSE IT IS ON BY default!)), I like it, it's original, although I lack diversity I think in character development and even more powers - most people do similar builds.
    - Inability to load previous savegame to fix a bad conversation (you have to think!)
    - The main character is very balanced, calm, empathic, inquisitive, easy to identify with him, although he can sometimes give the impression of predictable
    - Crafting

    I buy few games in my life, but I bought this one! I am asking the developers not to screw up this potential, to release the second part of Vampyr 2, even better, and then Vampyr 3 to make it a SERIES! It is beautiful! Maybe something like The Witcher. Vampyr in an open world for over 100 hours of game ...

    Bads:
    - small influence of conversations
    - small impact of characters death on world changes
    - shooting in this game is irrevelant, it gives little, plus shotgun ammo (for me) did not store
    - two ways to go as a good vampire and a bad one
    - it is strange that we lose e.g. ammo and energy / blood when we are killed by the boss and autosave is loaded
    - no better highlighting of things to collect, which extends the time of entertainment for finding what to loot
    - medium readable map
    - skipping whole sentences in a conversation with a click of the mouse, instead of just thar are visible on screen

    For me Vampyr is GAME OF THE YEAR, and maybe many recent years ...

    For many it is too difficult, whether it is about the fight, or the complexity of conversations and the depth of the world, well, not everyone is intelligent and sensitive...

    Oh, I was a fan of other games of this studio like Mars War Logs or Technomancer - generally great games for the low budget that the developers had.

It captures elements, mechanics and even dialogue structure from allAs a huge fan of Life is Strange, i have to admit my expectations were pretty high for this one and they fell completely short of the mark. First of all, the game tries to be, in my opinion a jack of all trades/rehash of better games i have played before, from Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines to Witcher 3 to Bloodbound. It captures elements, mechanics and even dialogue structure from all of these, but fails to implement them properly. The game is pretty much unbalanced from start to finish, both in terms of story-to-action ratio, as well as in terms of how most of the 'choices' the game advertizes as its strong point play out. Moreover, the 1-save only system completely ruined the rest of the fun i had with this game, as, in my opinion, there are WAY better means of making sure 'our choices matter' than completely killing all means of backtracking and locking us up in Ironman Mode. I can very much understand the opportunity to play the game in that fashion as long as it is a PLAYER CHOICE, but not if it is forced upon you, especially in a game were word-descriptions are ambiguous, triggers are often bugged or missing and so on. Overall, a very disappointing game that i am not able to honestly recommend to anyone.… Expand

    A good game, with an interesting story.
    It is not a gameplay-focused game, more like an investigation/dialogue genre where you can shape the story collecting hints regarding NPCs.
    The choice to make it more difficult the less you abuse of humans is cool, but doing that locks many abilities away and you are stuck with keeping weapons upgraded to kill foes; a human abilities page,    A good game, with an interesting story.

    The story develops well IMO, always keeping a level of interest; choices are good but in the end are not so crucial regarding the game itself, while morally they represent something to think about because many are about religion, science and their boundaries, so not something to overlook.

    In-game London is cool and overall graphics are good, in a dark/noir atmosphere.

    What a great game when it comes to the story. It's so interesting and the whole atmosphere is just pouring out of the screen. The gameplay is average... the game is easier if you suck out the blood of people and harder if you don't. It's all about your choice and immersion in all of this. I really liked this one and I will probably come back to it in a few years. Pickens approves!

I have played at least 5000 games since the commodore 64 and the Atari. this was sadly lackluster all around, except the OST. - but it wasn't made to have some epic ost anyways. so I wouldn't have penalized for such a thing. the music isoh man!     there is absolutely no jump ability period. so when you are running for your life and want to jump over a railing or hop a fence - forget about it. not happening

    all of the maps are static - meaning unmoving set in stone objects . so if you see a box, you cannot simply hop over it. which takes me to the next bit of sadness... stupid AI

    the AI literally gets stuck on all little things and waits for you to get to them.
    they also did this thing where the friendlies don't seem to realize your a damned vampire but
    the blah hunters can see you from a 1000 feet away and immediately give chase.

    combat is insanely boring, yes BOOOORING! it is a button mash fest basically and be bored by the time you get to your first bed to level up (if I wanted that Id play shadows of mordor or dead rising 4). and if you take just a moment to think you would realize that all of the powerup/level ups will be much, much more of the same blah.

    the whole "cool factor" of each unique npc you kill triggers areas to collapse literally has no impact on the end game. you can kill all or none it just makes it all more complicated. so simply don't give a crap and level up = none of it matters. so you wont care about the people and their little backstories AAARRRGH!

    remember you are a vampire, but you cant fly, jump sneak , hide except for the skill you buy what is an option when you level. I mean really? im a vampire. I cant sneak or hide behind these say these boxes over here? nope cant jump behind them and cant walk behind them because ummmm... why cant I again? oh yeah they are blocked by this 2 foot tall pole.

    the amount of nonsense makes my head actually hurt thinking about what I have missed while typing to report back. I don't generally complain about a game if it isn't up to par, I simply move on. but dammitt I was hoping from all of the rave reviews that it would at least be 6.5 and was hoping for an 8. I got this based on that guy Karak on youtube. I usually trust his reviews. but not anymore

    they could have done something truly great with this concept. instead you get this consolized bastardized humdrum game. there are so many games out there and literally dozens more coming every month. there will never be enough time in your life to play them all. so yes I expect them to be at least a C+ If I am going to waste my time on one. you all need to remember you only live once, time is finite! they have a responsibility to make the games better. graphics have improved but what about the gameplay? get it right!    … Expand

    Vampyr has some really good aspects and some not so much but overall the game experience was good. But I wouldn't pay more than $25 for it if I could. The game strength lies in it's writing so if you are not a fan of the talkie talkie, I would move on. It's weakness is the combat although not horrible it could use some tweaking. I also couldn't figure out how to target people with the K&MVampyr has some really good aspects and some not so much but overall the game experience was good. But I wouldn't pay more than $25 for it if I could. The game strength lies in it's writing so if you are not a fan of the talkie talkie, I would move on. It's weakness is the combat although not horrible it could use some tweaking. I also couldn't figure out how to target people with the K&M so I had to use the controller. I wish the game was a little more gruesome with the vampire bites as it seemed a bit tame. I also wasn't sure about the no fast travel in an open world setting. I mean, I understand why they did it. The game's full map is kinda small and having fast travel would have made the game a 15 hour game vs a 25 hour game. Game would have been more fun if it had a Nioh like combat and upgrade system.     The game takes place in an open world with vampyr hunters crawling the streets, youre given tasks and markers on the map, and you spend the games 13 hour long campaign going from place to place, at first gathering materials for the hospital that takes you in.. in between all of these areas are of course enemies wanting you dead.. lucky for you youre a vampire… you have a skill tree that you dump your experience into that’s earned off of these enemies and that you get from completing quests and sidequests…
    and at the end of these missions theres usually a giant boss to take down, test out your skills, switching between one handed and two handed weapons, stunning enemies so you can bite them and drain their blood which allows you use the moves you’ve unlocked in your skill tree that not onlky need blood but run on a cool down as well.. and then the rest of the game youre investigating and gathering information..
    I guess you could say.. youre londons batman…
    this is when the game really starts to come to life.. you gather hints from characters that will unlock new dialog options of other charcters and you can go back and forther gathering info on the location of a person youre searching for…. But more importantly this is where the whole you being a vampire thing comes into play…
    you can play this game as a good vampire, controlling your thirst for blood.. or you caun be like me.. a naughty vampire.. sucking all that blood. If you see someone out there looking like a snack.. they can be..
    you can mesmerize characters, bring them into the shadows and drain them of their delicious blood, granting you a massive xp reward.. youre rewarded for being bad in that you can afford more skills, you become a more powerful vampire, thus the game is easier for you…
    but by doing so chaos will break loose in the territories t hat you take too much life from.. and this is where I had the most fun.. in the role playing of a vampire.. of getting my victims to invite me inside and little do they know im just a little thirsty…
    But now comes the tough love,
    Vampyr is essentially a mid life cycle ps3 game.
    There are so many mistakes made in this open world that just make this game painful.
    for starters there is no fast travel.
    there are hideouts spread all of this map where you can rest to spend your xp, refill your ammo, upgrade the weapons you find in the world.. but you cant travel to a single one of them…
    and its not like the game slowly moves you along the map, no.. these missions will have you running back and forth across this world constantly…
    this is made worse by the annoying decision to lock every single gate in the game.. you can just run from territory to territory, because theyre going to put a gat in the middle of the street that if you didn’t unlock from the otherside 7 hour ago, youre gonna have to run all the way around the map again.. dealing with other locked gates and paths…
    but a las it gets worse…
    its not as simple as running from one place to another there are enemies all over the place and you cant interact with unlocked gate while enemies are around.. forcing you to have to engage in combat before moving forward..
    but it somehow gets worse…
    the combat here is sluggish slow and unfun, special attacks use way too much blood for how little damage they do, and to get more blood you have to do enough stun damage for an enemy to be vulnerable to be bitten… fights just drag on forever.. im a vampire.. I want to feel like some untouchable god when im dealing with these hunters and vampire rejects in the streets…
    the only time the combat is fun is during boss battles.. boss battles are addictive and challenging.. forcing me to strategize.. its like the combat was made only with boss battles in mind and the street enemies weren’t balanced… fighting them isn’t fun.. theyre a nussiance.. it’s a chore
    BUT. IT. GETS. WORSE.
    youre not even rewarded for dealing with these garbage encounters
    These annoying enemies crawling all over the place only gain you 5 to 15 xp each.
    Higher level upgrades cost about 2000 xp each.
    That means you have to kill 130 to 400 for one single upgrade….
    I don’t know how this ridiculous unbalanced in risk reward was overlooked but it was..
    These enemies are far too much of a threat for you to need to kill 400 of them for an upgrade.
    Get out of here.
    That being said vampyr is still a good game.. I enjoyed the game, its currently one of my top 20 games of 2018 so far.
    Im just baffiled at the ps3 era mistakes made in a 2018 game

    A solid RPGs with great atmosphere.

    First of all the early 20th century London is one of the most atmospheric and real feeling locations I've seen in a while. The graphics are hardly anything to write home about but the solid lighting effects and memorable art design really drive home what the developers wanted to do.     As far as the story is concerned I've mixed feelings. The introduction is rather awkwardly done and very on the nose, but it continually gets more interesting from this point onward and features many well done surprising twists and mostly rewarding side queasts.
    Luckily the writing has improved significantly compared to the studios previous effort, Life is Strange, as well. Gone is the on awkward pseudo-teenage slang garbage. Instead we get more nuanced conversation with surprisingly deep characters, most of which seem to have at least one intereseting secret. It's by no means perfect there are still more than a handful rather clumsily written lines.
    Be that as it may we also get to make quite a few interesting choices, but again without any significant impact on the story.
    While I think the game is solid enough in terms of it's story it should by no means be compared to the likes of the Witcher or the rather obvious comparison Vampire: The Masquerade. For every surprising good twist there's one you have to roll your eyes at and for everything innovative there's one cliche.
    However the dialog dialog writing pulls the story up to a thoroughly solid experiencen of the story.
    The game also features one very uinique thing that sets it further apart: The juxtaposition of being a doctor in a hospital who's trying to help people while also being a bloodsucking vampire and the struggle of maintaining your masquerade(pun intended), which it pulls of better than even the masterpiece that is Vampire: The Masquerade.
    The haunting and very fitting score does it's part in creating the atmosphere as well.

    Now unfortunately the game has some more serious weakneses as well. Namely the combat. You get all of the frustration of a Dark Souls game, none of the fairness and some of the clunkiest control scheems in the history of video games. Everytime there was a fight looming on the horizon I found myself desperately hoping that there will be a peaceful solution or that you somehow can sneak past the danger. To my severe discontent the solution is almost always to just beat the crap out of your enemies or suck them dry. And doing so you never feel like a powerful vampire with great abilites but rather like a piece of wet tissue paper with some cool sounding but ultimately boring and for the most part useless powers.

    Overall I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed given the great setting and atmosphere compared to which the rest of the games falls a bit flat.
    However seeing as this is a story focused RPG I still feel like the good things outweigh the bad, albeit only by a small margin. But considering that vampire games are surprisingly scarce, this manages to scratch a certain itch which together with it's art design and setting set it apart from the plethora of run of the mill action-RPGs. Definitely worth a try, if only to experience a darker iteration of early 20th London and talk to a couple of NPCs.    … Expand

    Not sure why many media outlets are giving this game subpar reviews. It's been a lot better than I expected it to be. So far i'm about 4 hours into it and i'm completely engrossed in the story. Gameplay is also very fun.

    All your choices have a bad or positive effect on your surroundings and effects if the game will be easier or harder to complete.
    Your choices of who you kill or dont kill will also have an impact on the different npcs based on the npc's relations to each other and on the enviroment.
    Combat is first very slow when you start out but become faster and requires more skill and dodging as the game progress. Unless you of course kill every one and are an upgraded beast of a vampire.
    This game also does not require a lot for your computer to be able to have this game set on high or ultra, and so far I have not experienced any bugs, lags, crashes, freezes or anything game breaking. In other words the game is running very smoothly.
    The animations are amazing and the different skills you can aquire makes you feel bad ass, I mean you can get an ability that allowes you to make someone explode from within.
    The enviroment and atmosphere is eerie and dark, the music is absolutely wonderful and the vampire sight that allows you to see trails of blood and literally look inside someones body is to me perfect.
    Only thing I think is.... "bad" with this game is that I thought the graphics would be slightly sharper (but they are by no means bad) ,and when you feed in combat all enemies stop to stare at you nom down on their friends neck xD
    But to me that is so insignificant complaints that they do not really matter.
    Bottom line is I love this game and cannot recommend it enough.    … Expand

    Great story!, just finished the game by playing good samatarian role, I gotta say I had doubts about the plot at first but they managed to put pieces together and finaled the game quite well, lively characters where you can relate to them to evaluate whether they're worthy to embrace or spare. The combat is boring and is FORCED EVERYWHERE. You go out, there's 3 enemies. You kill the enemies, there are more 3 enemies up ahead. You try to go back, those 3 ENEMIES RESPAWNED.

    The dialogue has no impact in the game until THE END OF THE GAME and you can ONLY ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT IT, no SLIDES OR CUTSCENES, NOTHING! The characters have no expressions and the OST is bad, like really bad. You will feel nothing hearing to the OST because it has no emotional impact as well. Even the final cutscene which should be a romantic or sad part it doesn't make you feel nothing at all.    … Expand

Nor can I understand why one would complain about the graphics, it runs great on max with a 970 so I suppose if your gear is completely horse balls that would be a fair accusation. I guess people didn't think it lived up to the hype - or maybe they thought it would be a Life Is Strange 2.0. I truly recommend this game is you're a fan of darker RPG games.    … Expand

    Atmosphere was the biggest plus for me in this game they really give the "gray" feeling throughout the game. You experience the low expectation of human lives and the general despair of the people. The protagonist is captivating and has a fairly well built character. The actions you take really affect the general situation of the society around you.

    Посмотрите больше видеообзоров и решайте нужно ли вам такое в библиотеке игр. Если все же решитесь, то вы будете заниматься решением хозяйственных проблем больницы и искать того кто обратил Рида в носферату.
    В целом довольно интересно отыгрывать роль доктора Хауса с клыками, задачами завхоза на фоне синдрома носферату.
    Оптимизон есть и его нет одновременно, то есть 40-60 фпс на любых настройках говорит или о проблемах с дровами, или фпс локе.
    Или обо всем сразу!
    Картинка честно говоря не впечатляет, но в дождь мое старье высаживает до 30 фпс уверенно.
    Здесь много проблем с логикой элементов выбора, весьма кучая боевка Витчера на минималках и банальный спам врагов.
    Это та самая игра, которую вы можете полюбить закрыв глаза на много огрех, но лучше не советовать и не прослыть фанбоем    … Expand

    I've geuinely enjoyed my experience with this game. I thought the story was good, the combat was a bit iffy at times but it never bothered me because this game excelled in its story, and the aesthetic for the game was spot on. Also, the music in this game is amazing, it really suits the theme perfectly.

    Vampyr is a pretty solid game! 6,7 does not represent what you will find it around 15/25 hours; average campaing. All the main NPC's have a great background and the narrative is so deep; really represents a chaotic city, with moral crises, sanitary problems, etc. The way that you need cure many NPCs - who often get sick - could be better; i would say that is so boring, break the imersion,Vampyr is a pretty solid game! 6,7 does not represent what you will find it around 15/25 hours; average campaing.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a long-time VtM:B fan, I really looked forward to this game. Unfortunately, it really didn't live up to the expectations.

    I'll skip the graphics, loading screens (oh god) and combat descriptions as you can find it in other reviews, my main concern is of RPG part. That's not an RPG game, since you are obviously stripped of all and any choice in the main game quest, and the end of the game looks more like a "vampire love story", and pretty bad one at that.
    A lot of scenes doesn't make any sense at all, like for example the scene with vampire hunter in hospital: first you obviously walk into a trap (I could tell it would be a trap before that dreaded loading screen appeared), then after you defeat him, you've only two choices: spare him or turn him into a vampire. The obvious choice, in my opinion, would be to kill him, as you've killed previous bosses without any regret before, even your sister after she turned into a vampire.
    In lots of other places I felt forced into making stupid answers, since it was the only available dialog option, which caused total disappointment.

    Vampire lore provided at the end of the game seems to be far-fetched and ridiculous.

    Side quests are petty and uninteresting, as most of the characters in the game, which main purpose seems to be wandering around or waiting for you to give them yet another medicine. No open world or exploration allowed or encouraged: most of the time you'll just hit an invisible wall or fail mesmerize check. You also punished for resting and spending XP, as you'll need to cleanse the streets of enemies and provide drugs to NPCs once again every time you rest. Totally immersion breaking.

    The craft mechanics are mostly too primitive, as well as skills leveling. Also, lack of saves punishes you in a way of exploring the possible outcomes if you kill someone: you probably don't want to start doing everything from scratch because of one character.

    Movement, Animations, Camera, COMBAT (This game has seriously the WORST combat I've ever experienced, I mean SKYRIM'S COMBAT IS BETTER THAN THIS) Jonathan Reid can't parry, can't even dodge without using his vampire powers, he can't pick up objects around him (it'd be really helpful to grab one of the torches from the human enemies and use them against the vampire enemies, but I guess that would make sense) there is a "stealth" mechanic which is awful, it only allows you to "stun" enemies. Guns don't do anything, seriously, they're bloody useless. But most importantly, THE AIM. When you're not using the lock on mechanic you might as well be playing blindfolded because the controls are just that bad, when using the lock on mechanic you better hope there aren't more than 1 enemy in the vicinity because it will go bonkers, and you'll get hit and die (many times) because the game will be switching between enemies.

    DEATH: It feels like a regular death mechanic, but it isn't. You will retain any (very small) experience you have gotten from the fight, but if you've used bullets those won't respawn with you, once again making guns useless. But the worst thing, is that it's trying to be like Dark Souls where every time you respawn all the enemies respawn too, only there is NO In game or narrative explanation behind this death mechanic. Beside it being bloody awful anyway, stop trying to be Dark Souls game, you aren't anywhere as good.

    Difficulty: this game is hard, but it's not hard in the way Dark Souls or The Witcher 3 are hard, it's hard because you'll be fighting the game mechanics, controls, and overall poor combat design. It also throws at you enemies of much greater level than you are, when completing the main quest it won't be long before your Level 9 Dr. Reid is squaring off against Level 18 Vampires which will two-shot you, sure you can decimate your population to be more powerful but this is supposed to be a choice based game where you can choose who to drain and who to let live.

    LEVELLING: it's tied into the people you consume you won't get any reward for fighting bosses or defeating enemies of much higher level than you, one boss is the Sewer Beast which took me A LOT to kill because I was just level 8 when I encountered it, and after I did kill it, it was just so anti-climactic, I mean seriously it's awful, when you defeat a hard boss in Dark Souls and The Witcher 3 it's satisfying despite of what reward you'll get from the game, part of the reward itself is beating that boss because those games actually have good mechanics which make them fun to play. This one? It fails miserably.

    But I know what you're thinking: "Well this is a story driven game, it's all about the dialogues and the characters". yeah, let's talk about that. Let's talk about how awful the voice acting is, Dr. Reid is about as emotional as a wooden blank with a smiley face painted on it, the start of the game is incredibly weak with Dr. Reid talking like a complete tool saying quasi-poetic lines like: "I'm like a child who's discovering the capabilities of his body", he's pretending to be freaked out but his reactions are so far removed from what ANY REGULAR HUMAN would have that it makes the whole introduction weak. Honestly the only character that I liked the voice acting of was the Irish priest (or at least he's voiced by someone from Dublin) and that's about it, some of the lines of dialogue are just plain unnatural with Dr. Reid abruptly changing subject and tone with the NPC he's talking to, which is one of the biggest immersion breakers here.

    Also the level of redundancy in this game is baffling, at the very start of the game you'll talk with a bar tender who'll tell you what: "the sewer dog is", but you can just walk to the barmaid and still ask her: "what is the sewer dog" as if Dr. Reid DIDN'T ALREADY HAVE THIS INFORMATION. Or when you have a visual indicator that a door is closed but Dr. Reid will still say: "it's locked" with the flattest tone of voice possible.

    The facial animations are absolutely horrendous, the fact that this is a AA title from a small studio is irrelevant, as anyone who played Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice will attest to.

    It's experiences like this which remind me as to why people pirate games, it's because users can't rightly try games any more, and can't decide for themselves whether something is good or not, they have to go by what other people say or are persuaded by an interesting subject and its marketing, but this game didn't deliver on anything it promised. Also the music is bloody awful, seriously the cello sounds like it's out of tune at times.    … Expand

I was 8 levels below all enemies and having troubles so I decided to eat 2 citizens and spent the EXP. By doing that the world advances and the enemies gain more levels again thus me sacrificing citizens didn't do anything..

This game was very cheaply made with 0 blood/gore like its for 12 year olds and the SJW crowd, the character model's faces are lifeless and again look like something from the early 2000's. I think production was so cheap they went with an older Unreal Engine 3 model instead of the newer 4. The developers also did not think their own systems through and players will often find trouble finding balance in this game. The game punishes you if you bite people in the form of near empty districts and taking away those characters you bitten (even side quests), forces autosaves on you so you cant revert to before you made a bad choice, and again those characters should turn to vamps. not die off the map forever. The game also punishes you if you dont bite people in the form of overwhelmingly increasing odds against your enemies, (they get stronger, you stay weak). So you're punished both ways, good luck finding a balance. The many flaws of the design/graphics/engine cannot be excused for the current price tag. The current asking price does not match the game in comparison with other titles in that price range, those on the fence should wait on a HUGE sale to avoid disappointment.… Expand

    The kill people to get experience is great system but again, not for everyone. It's really specific game for specific player. Don't buy this game just to tell people that it's medicore because of gameplay. Because it's not! It's different kind of game. You want action rpg? Go play something else. Vampyr is more RPG than action and the whole idea is to give player some dilemmas. You can feel chained to the main story or tired of developers' decisions about gameplay but the experience is unique. Stop looking for vivid descriptons. Watch someones gameplay, 30 minutes should be enough, and decide if it's your cup of tea or not.
    For me? It's my cup of tea -> 9/10
    However I get it, it's not for everyone. And I'm not special snowflake, and you're not too. Just try it before buying, and don't complain I haven't warned you.    … Expand

    First the good, the story is interesting and well told with fantastic voice acting, the location is old school London which is always a fan favourite so no complaints there. The NPCs feel alive and are very fleshed out, and if one of them should die or be killed you do notice an effect on the town, depending on how important they were.

    The downsides are numerous, with poor optimisation leading to lower than expected frame rates, severe hitching/stuttering and an overall feeling of choppiness, especially in certain key locations. The combat is very clunky, with the KB+M controls especially feeling awful. The enemy lock on system doesn't work correctly, and will constantly cycle through targets if you barely touch the mouse, there's no way to disable this behaviour so I finished the game without using the lock on feature, which wasn't ideal. The camera also has issues which made the combat feel even more cumbersome at times.

    A major issue is the XP system, you gain the bulk of your XP from feeding on civilians, if you choose not to feed you're incredibly weak, which makes the game frustratingly difficult, but if you do decide to feed well good luck at the end, because the last boss scales with how many people die during the game, and they become impossible to kill from my experience. I faced them at level 37, while they were 51 (their maximum), at this level deficit they were unkillable, the devs really need to tune this scaling as it's just not balanced right now, and can lead to you not being able to finish the game at all.

    Overall my lasting feeling is one of disappointment, I've been looking forward to Vampyr since it was announced but it just didn't live up to expectations.    … Expand

Вроде это их первый проект (если я не путаю) и за то что тема почти не востребованная (вампиры) и за хороший сюжет 9 баллов. Маловато доп квестов и жизни в городах. Ну надеюсь все исправят во второй части и на этот раз не будутХорошая игра, хороший сюжет, интересный . Задачи которые выдают горожане тоже не сдают планку, и зачастую взяв обычное рядовое задание в стиле "подай принеси" может перерости в нечто большее.
    Минусы: Весьма скверная боёвка, игра хочет походить на Души, но получается очень посредственно. Анимации - нет резких рывков персонажей и на том спасибо, но часто случается, что плащ может застрять в ноге Доктора Рида, и прочее, но это мелочи. Немного затянули, и под конец игры вместо того, что бы поубавить вражин, их только стало больше.
    Итог: Почему такая высокая оценка, должен признаться это единственная игра которую я прошел до конца за последний год. Цепляет она в первую очередь, диалогами, лором, сюжетом, персонажами, и т.п. Это игра не про гринд, и о лутбоксах, не о прокачке персонажа до Мистера Вселенной, она о конкретных людях (вампирах), и о конктретном случае.    … Expand

    Vampyr implementa un sistema de progresión bastante original, como se hace fuerte un vampiro? bueno pues alimentándose, te pone en un papel moral, de quien alimentarse es un tema, hay que saber que todas tus acciones tendrán sus consecuencias, y eso es maravilloso, el hacerte pensar detenidamente y no el matar a todo mundo sin que pase nada.
    Gráficamente tiene una estética maravillosa, con el problema que no está muy bien optimizado, da tirones bruscos por momentos, pero no lo hace injugable.
    La banda sonora es perfecta con la ambientación, precisa en el momento de ser implementada y bastante agradable y épica.

    En definitiva recomiendo este juego a todo aquel buscando una historia buena, que en estos tiempos puede ser difícil de encontrar.    … Expand

    One of the bests RPGs I've played recently. Amazing storyline, great characters, soundtrack and atmospheric scenarios as well as a very interesting RPG/leveling system. I'm not a big fan of its fights mechanics, but you get accustomed after a few rounds. I happily invested 45 hours of gameplay to finish it. Would totally pay for a Vampyr sequel :)

So many people have gotten used to hack and slashing through games that anything else must seem weird to them. Feels more like a graphic novel going to video game. Leveling up is also affected by these choices. Do you want to be more powerful? OK,...you only need to go and murder some of people. That's great,

Moverse por el mapa es un suplicio, pide a gritos viaje rápido a través de los lugares donde podemos fabricar medicina o mejorar armas y al personaje. Los gráficos a veces aceptables y otras de PlayStation 3.

    so you see the same guy over and over again even though he died

    The same thing for another quest leaving a certain area in which the main character notes only human left that blood and on purpose, meaning a trap is ahead which triggers a boss fight.

    well after u win, everytime u pass by there your character will repeat the same dialogue but no boss fight will trigger, u dont have to press anything either he just says it as u walk by it, and u will often for other quest. ITs quite ammusing

    Lots of other minor bugs and gliches

    the biggest problem i find is lack of save, you cannot go back or manually save, it relies on a strict auto save system which really is a lazy way of penalizing you in making wrong decisions. Forcing you to replay the game to change one thing is quiet absurd on such a "huge" game

    clone enemies
    enemies will spawn in the same area over and over again even after you wipe them out, they dont just respawn but they repeat the same animations over and over again..kills immersion quick.

    meaning you wipe a street full of thugs or vamps who are just talking or looting, well everytime you rest n pass by there they are there again DOING THE EXACT same thing.
    I mean not even walking a different route or hanging out in a different corner, nope same lazy enemy.

    There is also a false promise of open world, the world is far from open, thee are a ton of invisible walls shown by level cap. You can be fighting a level 9 enemy in the street, turn a corner and find 4 level 20's, meaning that area is off limits. You are forced to follow main quest line or else enemies with much higher levels will impede your exploration of a map thats not that big to begin with.

    This is a problem for certain reasons
    a big one was that exploring the map, in this open world rpg, i triggered a help citizen quest being attacked by vamps x3 my level, for some reason they spiked from 10 to 23, ofcourse I died and could not go to that area, however that mean that character died permanently and the district security went down.

    So the game penalized me harshly for exploring the map and the invisible wall is very clear to the level caps that impede exploration. It is very lazy
    very buggy but unique in the regard you can **** **** up as a vampire. The story is w.e, the animations for characters are not witcher more like vanilla skyrim before HD mods quality..the game is fun I wont lie, it is a good action jackson-shallow console rpg with a little bit of everything, exploration, "open world", rpg progression and side quest. However they are all doon very subpar, just good enough to pass for playable but far from perfect or the likes of The Witcher.

After the success of Life is Strange I expected a more compelling Story, but this is just boring cliche and didn't manage to get me engaged right from the start, I am just sucking blood from the first enemies I met, like it is the most normal thing in the world and no chance to spare them...

    Great game! Good voice acting, full of dialogue that keeps you engaged. The story is also good and it has a satisfying ending. Some people may get bored probably because you have to talk a lot but if you are willing to it has its reward.

    Most of the characters are interesting and you can ask them a lot .
    Another weak point are the sidequests most of them are boring and with the lack of fast travel they can get annoying, this game needs fast travel even if the map is not that big.

    Brilliant game! I Liked it very much, story is very interesting, dialogs are great. There some minuses like fighting but overall it is very nice game to spend 30-40 hours. It is more like a detective quest than fighting RPG. I don't understand all the people who hate this game.

    This game is amazing. The story is great, the characters are interesting and so are the games mechanics. The optimization for PC is very well done, it runs pretty smooth on older hardware too. It's a shame games like this don't get the recognition they deserve anymore and people rather go for "Call of the same game every year but this time with battle royal mode 9".     It's great, Finished,Full game! for 50€. At last something interesting on PC (for me). Graphics, not that amazing but not bad either needs some tweaks for lightning. Soundtrack not bad. Great story. Every person has a story and is unique. Choices have a real impact not like Telltale bs. Beautifull London and that atmosphere...Mmmmm nice. With great sales we might have Vampyr 2 in future with better everything. But first I want dlc or something after that ending. I want more. It was enough (no open ending) but I want more.

    -Under close examination there is clear lack of effort in many zones through the game that were simply slapped together with no real care to how it looks graphically or aesthetically.

    Final Thoughts
    The game is insultingly boring, short, and most of all... bland. It does nothing to pull players into the vampire world. For me its a solid 5 out of ten on its best days with a couple of drinks in me. If any other day of the week this would be a solid 3 out of 10.    … Expand

And at the end there is no explanation about how exactly turn hero and why throw our hero into pit. If that blood ghost can appear everywhere why he can not just care about the process. And at end the knight also appears abruptly. And many characters are useless too. Like Old Bridge is only for adding more setting.

Vampyr has been a game that I awaited with excitement for a while now, and upon its release I jumped right into the game to explore my life as a Vampire. While the game at first holds nothing special, the combat being pretty generic, the dialogue of the enemies and the interaction of the main character with rats or doors for example being extremely repetitive, just like the types of enemies you have to face. There is this rush of excitement when you get dressed on the boat and get to interact with the workers of the Hospital, your mind starts thinking of possibilities of what the game holds. Only to explore the game and be sorely disappointed by the RPG elements of the game .Only a few weapons available in the game and if you want to deal damage you can only go with 3 of them(for my play-through at least). absolutely zero customization of your costume or your weapons or having a little logo added to the hideouts, the game is extremely linear in its fashion, however it presents itself as a role playing one. the combat system is one of the most annoying things to deal with, often you need to learn the move-set of characters by heart because there they do not show what kind of attacks they will do, hitbox issues to go along with this. movement in the game was also buggy and often one key would get stuck to only move in one direction and readjustment was required. the story is a good one if not a little dull at some points, the world building is excellent, greatly imbued with magic through the amazing soundtrack and sound design. That is essentially what puts the game together, aspects of the story and the music. Sadly only one of your choice matters, kill citizens or do not. You can be forgiven for one of the killing but the ending is still grim. the game implies that your actions have consequences, that the fate of the districts lie on your choices but they do not matter. feeding on the civilians is very fun and my first civilian kill was on a boy. I talked to his father Joe Peterson and he said that he did not know what he would do without his son, so of course i killed his son. the father went missing and i felt very unsatisfied in how the only thing that comes of from you killing people is their relatives go missing and the percentage of the district goes down. Later i found Joe had joined the Guard of Priwen and i thought oh great i remember this guy, maybe we can get some closure but we didn't even exchange a word, he just died. In order to get the most out of feeding on the civilians you must unlock hints for them, even do their side quests, which attaches you to them a little, which is a good part because it shows you the evils of your doing and hopefully making you feel bad. One of the pillars who offers a lot of XP tempted me very much to embrace him and get that sweet power, but i held it back and "saved" the district. But my choice didn't matter, not really. But if you decide to go and kill and pillage that is a fun way to experience the game, but with so many upgrades, there isn't really a good way to get to the endgame of Vampyr, and that would be fine as you would finish the game and do a New Game Plus where you don't have to get the Mesmerise levels up so you wouldn't waste as much time but there isn't even that, you have to start over as a weakling. In conclusion the game is wonky, the story is alright, the music is great, the combat is ok at best and horrible at worst, the choices you make mostly do not matter. the game promised choice and consequences and the only consequence it delivered was the a blow to my excitement… Expand

    un po' sottovalutato come titolo, si tecnicamente non è perfetto, e i combattimenti per quanto ben fatti sono molto semplici, ma comunque resta un titolo ottimo dove la storia ma soprattutto la LORE fanna da padrone, la fusione tra scienza, magia, religione e vecchie leggende è ottimo, ma per coglierlo dovete leggere ogni singolo pezzo di carta che trovate, che per carità non sono maiun po' sottovalutato come titolo, si tecnicamente non è perfetto, e i combattimenti per quanto ben fatti sono molto semplici, ma comunque resta un titolo ottimo dove la storia ma soprattutto la LORE fanna da padrone, la fusione tra scienza, magia, religione e vecchie leggende è ottimo, ma per coglierlo dovete leggere ogni singolo pezzo di carta che trovate, che per carità non sono mai noiosi, ma una soluzione in stile bioshock dove invece che i pezzi di carta trovavi i registratori che ti raccontavano a voce le vicende della LORE, evitando di spezzare il gamplay per leggersi la lettera di turno, l'avrei apprezzato di più.… Expand

    Story: The story was a decent 9. Minor flaw was the forced romance that doesn't suit a game with multiple choices and consequences. You play as Dr Reid and renowned surgeon in blood transfusions(see the irony) and upon acquiring his powers he goes on an investigation to understand what happened to him and what that means to the world. The way they present the lore on vampires and backstory for each character is amazing. But the main story can stand on its own. How your character progresses through his predicaments throughout the story and how he copes with it is entirely up to the player. I would say in a way, you kinda create your own story.

    World: Its an amazing visual representation of London back in 1900. It really feels like the city is decaying due to the disease. Its very dark. And the game makes you feel safe in populated zones. But when you go outside the safe areas, it feels like all hell has broken loose. Dead people around the corner, abandoned and creepy houses. You never know when a Skal is going to creep out on you. It was really well designed. The world seems alive. And NPCs arent just there to move the story forward but to make you live/roleplay the game a little bit. You can feed of any NPC at a given time and the game motivates you to learn more about the character before doing so. Once you get to know their backstory you get to make the moral decision of feeding or not on them. And you have to live with the consequences of your actions and how your action may affect the relations between NPCs or the world.

    Replayability: You get 4 different endings depending on your playstyle. Makes it worth at least playing twice to see how playing good vampires vs evil vampires plays out and differs from one another.

    Cons:
    Romance: The romance was the biggest issue with the story. It felt hurried and forced on you. There are no signs that the characters like each other and then suddenly its just there. It was weirdly done. I wish they add some more voice dialogue between them or at least make it optional.    … Expand

    The entire concept is actually really good, but it has been implemented poorly as there is a complete lack of polish to the game.

    There have been times that dialog spoken and subtitles do not match, as if the voice actors couldn't properly remember what they were supposed to say. Sometimes, there can be multiple vocal dialogs going on at the same time, making it hard to understand who is saying what or what is going on.

    Characters have what appears to be almost completely static faces, It's almost impossible to be able to tell how they feel or what they are thinking based on looking at their faces. There are cases in which characters may be talking but their mouths don't even move.

    Most of the game enviroments feel like they are nothing more than cattle paths, pushing you to a specific location or place. A bigger issue arises when locations are built maze like and you are never quite sure where you are supposed to go. Add to the fact the quest tracker for the game is complete garbage and it can be a overall frustrating experience trying to get a job done.

    For a game that likes to tout that your decisions and choices matter, a lot of times it feels like the developers (or in this case the writers) often try to shoehorn you into many decisions to meet whatever criteria they have for the writing of the story.

    As RPGs go, I never really felt immersed in the game, because I couldn't put myself in the role of the main character and the game refused to allow me to make choices that I would want, instead simply forcing the character's opinions on me. What makes this even more frustrating is the game never really gives you any clear ideas on what your choices will do or how they will change the landscape, comebine that with a completely unforgiving save system that refuses to allow you to back track.

    Combat is the worst part of the game by far, especially with the stamina system they have in place. Playing as a vampire you should feel powerful, but often everyone else around you is more powerful than you in almost all aspects. What kind of vampire gets tired after swinging an axe two or three times? I mean honestly!

    Enemies are often at much higher levels than you, putting you at a constant disadvantage. Expect to die. A lot. You'll constantly encounter quests that are 5 or 6 times out of your level range, the only way you'll know they don't expect you to be there yet is by going in to an area and dying. When I bought this game, I wasn't under the impression this was some sort of Dark Souls knock off.

    It really is a beautiful game under all of this rust, but I would never be able to recommend this game to anyone at it's full retail price. If you can get it at a discount (like I did), go for it. Otherwise I'd suggest you wait.    … Expand

    Least Favorite Thing: The combats bad, yeah yeah, you've heard that before so let me find something else. Why does embracing someone always have to be bad for a district? There were more than a few people whose removal should have improved a district.

    Good combat and mechanics, decent story and a great setting. I liked the paradox between feeding on people and being a doctor. Let down by poor optimisation really and the game felt a little too long in the end. But enjoyed the game nonetheless, the feeling of a whirling death machine felt great.

    I really enjoyed playing this game, I found the story and characters exceptional. I am someone who enjoys chatting to characters and reading through all the dialogue. I enjoy this in games.

    Though the combat is janky especially how lock on doesn't work properly. It doesn't stay with the enemy you want to kill and moves around. It's best not using lock on and without it it's better and    I really enjoyed playing this game, I found the story and characters exceptional.     It doesn't stay with the enemy you want to kill and moves around. It's best not using lock on and without it it's better and combat is ok once you get used to it. Even with a no embrace play through on normal difficulty I am able to kill enemies 7 levels above me. Combat isn't too hard once you know what you are doing and I did not find any of the bosses overly difficult.

    I also dislike the auto save as I am someone that likes to have the best outcomes and prefer to be able to reload. As I made a decision which was unclear of the consequence being so severe. I thought the charm choice was the nicest option but instead was bad resulting in a coma like state resulted in a outcome I did not expect. Unclear choices is extremely poor game design especially when you get stuck with it because of the terrible auto save system.
    Since outcomes are so unclear and you get stuck with it, I never go in blindly again and instead look up all major choice outcomes before choosing.

    The game only crashed once for me.

    I did not have any problems with loading times.

    The game can also be buggy. Such as when chatting to someone the entire screen goes black and you can only see the dialogue nothing else, until you say goodbye.

    I loved the game and I feel this game is a masterpiece as the excellent story over rides it's short comings. Never for a moment did I feel bored playing, the story felt exciting and gripping. I hope for a Vampyr 2 and feel this game deserves a higher rating than what it received.    … Expand

    There are some off things though.. The dialogs don't always match up. If you don't follow the scripted path, the people may expect you to have had a conversation that you did not yet have.
    You also feel limited in game-play. Some places you can jump as a vampire but on other places, even smaller jumps, you can't. It feels a little off.. you're    Love the story, the graphics, the setting..

    m uchas ilusiones y expectativas y una absoluta decepcion, no me atrapo en ningun momento durante la primera hora, lo descambie y mire por internet videos y definitivamente hice bien en descambiarlo, lo apruebo raspao porque se que es un juego que a alguien le puede llegar a enganchar a mi en lo absoluto.

One’s responsible for all these cringeworthy lines, another came up with some truly interesting characters, and the third one thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to preach his values: for example, at one point our strictly-rational atheist doctor will have to confess his sins.     Vampyr can bewitch with its atmosphere and conquer with the skillful delivery of a quality story. However, the RPG and action parts didn´t succeed, and the intended main pull in the form of heavy choices, whom to kill and whom to let live, is also lost to the lack of impact of your action. Although the game can entertain in the end, it often disappoints instead.
