    Yes, this game has bugs. That's what patches are for. I waited to play VTMB until one was available. Glad I did! I haven't had this much fun playing a RPG since KOTOR. Bottom line: If you like games like Morrowind, KOTOR, and Deus Ex, and you have a PC that can handle the load, then run out and buy this game immediately.

    I believe the direct opposite from Jeff S. I think the Santa Monica part is slightly boring, but once you get to Hollywood it starts getting, well amazing. As I am writing this, Troika has recently shut down. So there probably wont be any more patches, which is incredibly dissapointing. But it isn't their fault, it's Acitivisions. The music, especailly the creepy music and the I believe the direct opposite from Jeff S.     I have played this game several times through without ever having a problem. People who rated the game low because of "HL2 looks so good, this game should have looked better based off the same engine"; I have two reasons to give. First, this game was released the SAME DAY as HL2. Do you honestly think that they are going to even compete with the developer of the engine? Second, this game was designed to run on mid-range systems (obviously mid-range at the time). Anyone having problems with high end systems (One user posted he had a P4 3GHz and a 6800GT, etc) there is something wrong with your rig. When I first played this game, It was on an Athlon 64 3000+ 512Mb RAM and a GeForce 6600. Everything on High on at 1280x1024 without ANY problems. The game looks amazing, even compared to HL2. The story is great. Replayability is the best I've seen. Now that I have it on STEAM, I'm sure I'll play even more.… Expand

    This is a totally unique first-person RPG experience. Troika did an amazingly job crafting a believable vampire world full of interesting characters you can meet and get to know. This is truly a game you experience rather than just play. Even though I played it years ago, so many scenes are so fresh in my mindâ

    NOTE: YES, You can play this game on Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit. Just select the .EXE for the game and click on Run in XP Mode with Service pack 3. So far it's a unique game. I waited until Steam had it on sale for $4.99.

    Fantastic RPG. It's unfortunate more RPGs like this aren't made anymore. Games like Skyrim excel only in their open world aspects. Their RPG aspects are few compared to games like this and Deus Ex. Just don't forget to patch it

This game faced disaster when it first came out on the same day as Half-Life 2 back in 2004. Firstly releasing it against one of the most influential games was obviously going to side-line it, but, secondly the game wasn't finished by the time Activision decided to push it out; as a result it went into the wind, unheard of.

    I must state that I play games for their stories' and immersion, while some people may find other mediums of entertainment such as TV and Film to indulge in better stories; this game did not disappoint. The story of the Vampire clans vying for control in L.A and the underlying plot about a certain object is well thought out and crafted, supported by top-notch voice acting; all thanks to the Source engine.

    Graphically this game may look dated now that we are in 2013, but don't be fooled it still captures the gritty setting perfectly. The gameplay may also be dated, however as stated I mainly play games for their stories' and as a result tend not to focus on 'high' graphics and 'great' game-play. (I'm not saying it isn't integral of course). Speaking of the gameplay, the amount of variations that are found in the different vampire clans is fresh. For example if you play as a mad-stricken Malkavian, this may open up specific dialogue options and immersive events; and that's not even including the different powers and abilities.

    The game design isn't open-world, but boy it is fun to explore! The side-quests may not be as numerous as the ones' found in Skyrim or other top RPGs'. However the quests in VTMB are rich, immersive and are genuinely fun to play.

    Overall I find this game to be in my top 20, and would recommend this game to anyone who likes fresh, original, and immersive stories coupled with vampire fiction and good but not revolutionary game-play.    … Expand

    The story is good, the gameplay is ok too but the game is full of glitches... having promised MP and then scraped in the end, low replayability value but still a good game.

    Love the rpg elements and the voice acting is sometimes cringe great and just grade A voice acting. High recommendation for any RPG fan.

    However, now that the gaming community has fixed most bugs and reintroduced most cut features, VTM:B's strengths begin to shine free of the tarnish of poor production quality. The action isn't bad, but the true appeal here is simply the best combination of voice acting, characters,    Pre-patches and mods, I would agree with the 8.0 rating. This game was simply rushed.

It does have its share of bugs though, you often get stuck in doors that refuse to open and close or the game simply freeze and so on. The Haunted Mansion is just plain frightening. And I'm not exactly 14 years old. I was actually jumping away from the screen in my chair. The combat system is kind of basic, but the different powers make it always interesting. It's a must to replay this game to actually understand how different clans offer different approaches to the same situations. All in all, Bloodlines is just mandatory for everyone who enjoys a good story. If you like vampires, you will fall in love with this game. Never vampires were so deep, emotional or real. The multiple factions and stories string together well but not smoothly, at times it may feel like story elements completely drop off the radar and at other times it seems all main story is gone and the side quest story is all that remains. (graphic glitches, loading issues, cut scenes problems, crash bugs and a few instances where events don't take place and you must reload from your last save and place through the sequence again to get it to 'click') the game is worthy of a sequel no doubt, but aswell there is no doubt one will never be seen. It's a solid 9.5... but loses 1.5 to bugs.… Expand

    Bloodlines suffered initially from nasty bugs, but after patching this game plays fantastic and is one of the most true-to-form and well presented games I've ever seen. Those seeking a weaving, twisting plot and interesting characters need look no further!

    To James A: If the slowness you are experiencing in combat is in the form of not being able to make the character do what you want (not responding to keys at times) then it's an issue with the Source Engine, many people experience this issue with both CS:S and VtM (same engine) and it can easilly be fixed by setting priority of the vampire.exe to low in the taskmanager.     A great RPG game! A great story & interesting places... Sure, it was buggy at first, but the patches fixed it, but how can a patch be "too late" ? Is there a rush to enjoy the game?

    Once properly patched to eliminate bugs, Bloodlines stands out as perhaps the finest and most engrossing mature RPG's ever created for the PC. If you are even a tiny bit intrigued by this title, then I encourage you to go ahead and purchase Bloodlines. I promise that you will not be disappointed by this uniquely fascinating RPG classic.

    I just played this for the first time, three years after the original release, and I'm really impressed by the story, atmosphere, and especially the dialogue. Excellent game. Certainly not perfect -- I thought it could have focused more on story and less on sewer crawls -- but it's still a wonderful game. The bugs are largely gone with the last official patch.

    Best game i have played in....a loooong time. I would give it a 10, if not for the bugs. There where a few times I had to cheat (noclip in the console) to get unstuck. But the story, characters, everything but the bugs, are freakin amazing. You really feel the grit of the World of Darkness.

    To my own surprise, I'm hooked on this over HL2. Wonderful integration of RPG systems and action combat, gritty mature storyline, and a completely immersive world. I didn't know about this game until a week ago- but I hope this the first of a series! Valve we need more games like Bloodlines!

    I have played this many times since it first came out. It's one I consider quite classic (like Diablo, or FFVII) even though it may have it's flaws (which I personally notice very few but they are worth noting). One of which is the pointlessness to using guns, the whole mechanic about it is about as weak as the guns themselves. Now I understand using a gun on a vampire should be pointless but you dont always fight vampires in this, sometimes they are just people, or sometimes Ghouls both of which will feel a bullet hit them and it will hurt, but in this world they take bullet hits as good as any vampire. Besides that however there is just to much for me to love in this game, great graphics (thank you Valve for your wonderful source engine) awesome story as well as sub plots and the like all of which are very fascinating and in my opinoin the only way to truly appreciate this game is to play it at least twice to see it from the perspective of a different clan as each has its own unique experiences. For instance, Nosferatu cannot walk above ground for they are obviously not human and that would break the masquerade, theres one clan that is insane and their dialect when speaking makes it obvious as well as some nice little touches to the TV and some other things that will make you wonder if your not insane too. So yeah, this game is worth getting and playing alot if your an action/rpg fan biggest problem honestly to me is the world feels to small but trust me most times you may not notice.     If you are a fan of the vampire genre then you are in for a real treat. The game has many many flaws but man did they nail a lot of it. Voice acting was superb and the writing was good. However, since the company went broke before the game really took off it was left in a general state of disrepair and the game plays like a beta.     Atmosphere. It´s the key word about this game.You feel the thrills of a sinister world while trying to cope with powerful and dangerous characters. It´s my favourite game of all time. The most inspired and inspiring game ever. Just fiending for a new take on this universe since years ago.

    Literally the best game ever made. The writing is amazing, so is the soundtrack and so were the graphics at the time (kind of). The "dark"/"criminal"/"sexy" atmosphere in this game is just unparalleled. I replayed this game 9x.

    This game! This game is ace and each time I play it i'm in awe. The mood and atmosphere makes you want to find a vampire coven in real life...the original soundtrack is amazing too.

    All and all just an amazing game.

    One of the most Replayable pc rpg,
    it capture most of the essence of the pen e paper game.
    well done.
    You will remember Npcs, Music, dialogues and so on for ages.
    It's not aged very well Technically but it's a classic.
    After 16 years now we get a Sequel.
    Try it before the sequel came out.

    A really fun rpg that does vampires right, there are so many interesting vampire classes that gives you alot of options, World is linear but quests and story is great. This is a must buy for everyone. It only costs 5 $ during the steam summer sales.

    I really don't like Vampire setting,but this game has changed everything,atmosphere,music! It gave me chills,if you still didn't played yet,i recommend it every gamer to play.

    The best way to play is a Malkavian. A very interesting game loaded with symbolism and narrative twists.

    Open it. It has much more to offer you than anything you could ever dream of having, don't you think?

    Without a doubt absolutely the best story, theme and voice acting done in a video game. Gets a little combat heavy towards the end, but it is a very gripping experience.

Bloodlines is the greatest vampire video game ever made, under any platform. As flawed as it is in certain regards, primarily bugs and combat, the title stands the test of time through sheer will and immersion.     Il gioco opta per un interessante sistema di level up in cui per ogni quest da noi completata    Sviluppato dalla Troika Games, ai tempi guidata da Tim Caine (Fallout, 1997), Vampire: The Masquerade è un Action RPG ambientato nella los angeles dei primi anni duemila in cui fazioni di vampiri e altre creature paranormali combattono per il dominio della città e, forse, del mondo stesso.

    Il gioco opta per un interessante sistema di level up in cui per ogni quest da noi completata ricereveremo dei punti esperienza spendibili per migliorare il nostro personaggio in determinati ambiti. Dall'utilizzo delle armi da fuoco, ad attributi come la forza fisica o l'intelligenza o anche nell'utilizzo dei suoi poteri speciali da vampiro.
    I poteri sono suddivisi in tre categorie di cui due comuni a tutti i clan (l'equivalente delle classi) e il terzo è unico di quel determinato clan che si sceglierà all'inizio del gioco.
    Questo già da una spinta molto grande alla rigiocabilità che, in un RPG, è un aspetto molto importante in mia opinione.

    Ma non solo le differenze nel gioco le vedremo in base al clan di appartenenza, ma anche alla nostra build che ci porterà a poter affrontare le sfide in maniera differente di volta in volta. Nonostante non sia possibile evitare sempre lo scontro diretto è comunque possibile evitarne gran parte concentrandosi sullo sneaking, sull'essere in grado di intimidire o persuadere gli NPC o sul trovare strade alternative grazie al lockpicking o al hacking dei terminali.

    Il gioco è un "Semi open world" in quanto è diviso in 4 aree principale in cui potremo girare liberamente per cercare sidequests o parlare con gli NPC, ma solo una volta sbloccate per la prima volta. Sono poi presenti aree separate dal resto del mondo accessibili solo durante determinate missioni.

    La trama è incredibilmente interessante concentrandosi sia sugli equilibri di potere di Los Angeles sia sul mistero che permea l'aria dall'arrivo in città del protagonista. Nel corso del gioco si incontreranno un sacco di personaggi carismatici e ben caratterizzati o comunque affascinanti. Partendo dai vampiri anarchici e finendo con gang malavitose cinesi. Purtroppo da questo punto di vista il gioco è forse un po' carente in quanto la storyline principale è sempre una sola (nonostante ci siano finali multipli in base a varie scelte prese durante tutto il gioco) e non è possibile decidere, ad esempio, di giocarlo interamente come anarchico, solitario o altro. Per fare un parallelo con il mio RPG preferito è come se in New Vegas i finali multipli rimanessero, ma si fosse costretti a seguire necessariamente la storyline della RNC. Non l'ho apprezzato moltissimo, ma ciò è forse derivato dal suo essere meno open world e più "corto" rispetto a New Vegas.
    Posto che comunque non è un lato totalmente negativo.
    Questo essere più ristretto permette anche una maggiore cura dei livelli e dei dungeon che si affrontano, cosa che manca in altri titoli più estesi.

    Il sistema di combattimento come in molti giochi simili è, ad essere gentili, alquanto mediocre. È possibile combattere a mani nude, con armi bianche o con armi da fuoco. In alcuni casi anche usando le abilità vampiriche a nostro vantaggio, ma non c'è nulla che lo renda realmente interessante. Pugni e armi bianche funzionano all'incirca allo stesso modo: spammando il click sinistro fino ad aver ucciso il proprio nemico. Discorso abbastanza simile con le armi da fuoco che nella migliore delle ipotesi hanno una modalità di fuoco aggiuntiva.
    Le bossfight rimangano fortunamente interessanti perché quasi tutte presentano un twist su cui ragionare per vincere.

    Per tirare le somme:
    VM:B è un gioco che ogni appassionato del genere dovrebbe giocare, nonostante qualche problemuccio sia tecnico che di design di cui però so che una unofficial patch dovrebbe risolvere andando a ripristinare anche missioni e contenuti extra esclusi dal prodotto finale per mancanze di tempo.

    Super cool, love the characters, the world and the story. Nice RPG system, dense atmosphere, I highly recommend it. A true classic.

    But if you buy it, you need to know that you have to download a community patch. The patch repairs many bugs and the game runs on newer computers as well.

    The only downside to Bloodlines is it's lategame, everything else is top notch. It has one of the best characters in RPG (detalization, animation and voice-acting are perfect), interesting quests and engrossing atmosphere.

    I played this game with a lot of mods as the base game was buggy and broken. When it worked the setting, characters and world building are amazing. The politics of the vampire world are really interesting and the story is very engaging until the end where it gets a little to action shooter.

    Game without a map.How's that?All you have is your hub and discription to your current objective.Personally I think the game became a rather more intresting that it could've been,because you need to remember all the stores and shops within the area to find them(or you could spend some time wandering in frustration.The decision is yours).

    Characters.I won't say anything that could affect your impressions or spoil the game.But the atmosphere of distrust towards most of them won't let go of you until the game is over.And it is such a grand and successful attempt to make you feel what it is to be among vampires.Though some of them will surely surprise you.

    Music. "Isolated", "A Smaller God", "Trip the Darkness" are the first that came to mind right away.Soundtrack might be the greatest part of the game that adds to the atmosphere of the dark and sinful City of Angels.

    The game still have many bugs and a few problems,but as I said,the patch makes them dissapear.And it's a game that you will surely want to play at least once more after you finished it.

    Although it doesn't stick the landing with the lackluster final area (Chinatown) and final string of missions VTM:B was and still is one of the great rpgs of the 2000s. The combat is not very good and there were many technical problems at release but this game has some of the best dialogue in any rpg and hands down the best atmosphere an rpg has ever achieved.

Diyalogla birçok şeyi halletseniz de önünde sonunda dövüşmek zorunda kalabiliyorsunuz. Bu da geçtiği dünyanın tekinsizliği nedeniyle gerçekçi olmuş.

    Keşke daha önce oynasaymışım demeyeceğim çünkü kıymetini bilmezdim. Son yıllarda oynadığım rpg oyunları sayesinde bu türe olan alışkanlığım ve ilgim epey arttı. Böyle olmasa mekanikleri, bug'ları ve eski grafikleri nedeniyle atmosferine rağmen daha ilk dakikalarda kapatırdım. Benim için sabır isteyen ama sonucunda yarattığı evreni sonuna kadar hissettiren bir deneyim oldu.

    Oyuna alıştıktan, siyasi atmosferi özümsedikten sonra her köşeye girip görev bulmak istiyorsunuz. Zaten bir oyunu sevmişsem onun her bölgesine girip sömürmek isterim. Bunda da böyle oldu. Sonucunda neredeyse hiçbir görevde beni hayal kırıklığına uğratmadı.

    Müzikleri şahane.

    its a really well made game, tons of good things to say about it. gunplay is on point, gameplay mechanics work fine enough... fast paced and skill based . environments are beautiful , but maybe the gameplay was not considered big time designing some of the maps.

    If you were disappointed with the recent FPS titles and their somewhat lackluster plot and linear storylines, then you will probably find Bloodlines to be a refreshing change, however on the other hand, a few technical and design issues let it down.
