    Great game! It is interesting that Ubisoft can make some good games when they want. Valiant Hearts is a simple, but gorgeous game.

    В свое время посмотрел на ютубе, думал что мне этот геймплей для дебилов. Ну и как выяснилось помнил только пару моментов. Выходит значит вторая часть где то... Я с ужасом что прошло с выпуска 9 лет, и больше таких игр не делают, 2 части! Кинулся проходить, благо не пришлось танцевать с    Доблестные сердца: Великая война - аркада с видом с боку платформер в жанре квеста-головоломки.

Кинулся проходить, благо не пришлось танцевать с бубнами все прекрасно запустилось, прошел без багов, юбисофт тогда еще была норм)

    Это игра об истории думаю можно сказать быль, ибо много таких историю было похожих думаю. о 5 людях. Это важно.
    Можно сказать что у нас есть ГГ, за кого мы в первые играем, но тут скорее 4 гг и собака, кто же 5 хм. Визуал у игры потрясный, оживший комикс, делает ее узнаваемой.

    Тема игры, грустная, ибо война которой еще тогда не видывал мир, все думали щас:
    «Обед у нас будет в Париже, а ужин в Санкт-Петербурге» — известная фраза, произнесённая последним императором Германии Вильгельмом II. Война обрушила устои веков! 4 империи пало, Карл! Кстати о персонажах:
    Эмиль -главный персонаж этой истории. Француз
    Фредди — темнокожий американец, ставший добровольцем
    Анна — бельгийка, молодая студентка, ставшая медсестрой
    Карл — немец, муж Мари и отец Виктора
    Мари — француженка, жена Карла, мать Виктора и дочь Эмиля
    И конечно же Walt без него наши герои бы не выбрались. (про него есть комикс, его прошлое, советую к ознакомлению "Valiant Hearts: The Great War (Android) - Комикс на мотивах Первой Мировой. Уолт и Кэсси" Ролик на ютубе.
    И у каждого есть своя механика, история - ее начало и конец.

    Так же хочется отметить, сколько в игре справочного материала и коллектобалсов, жаль достижений нет, в стиме, в уплее есть. Я прям прочувствовал атмосферу тех лет. Начало светлое, а потом тьма, газ окопы, трупы... ужас.
    Вернемся к истории, за 8 часов проведенные, я успел привязаться к персонажам, понять их действия в некоторые моменты, можно так сказать влез в их шкуру, и переживал вместе с ними, история действительно очень трагичная и захватывающая.
    Музыкальное сопровождение на высоте.
    Итог: Советую к прохождение, я бы сказал даже если вы на юбуте посмотрите, оно не то, нужно погружение, оно того стоит!    … Expand

    A great game about the Great War. It might be childish a little bit, and casual, but the story and characters, music, artstyle - everything is great. It's game from the era when Ubisoft were actually putting some hearts into their games.

    Ну это классно. Ненапряжный и интересный геймплей под очаровательное музыкальное сопровождение и очень трогательная история. Хоть и тема игры про ужасы войны и трагедии, который она приносит тут умело смягчается забавным мультяшным стилем. Но разок плакнуть конечно пришлось.Ну это классно.     Müziklerini duyduğumda yada menü kapak resmini gördüğümde duygulanmama sebep olan nadide oyundur kendisi. Bulmacıları, aksiyonlarda çalan müzikleri ile her şeyi çok güzeldi. Dünya savaşı hikayeleri seviyorsanız mutlaka almanız gereken bir oyun.

It could be slow at times, but as one who likes logic puzzles - they were actually pretty nice and with difficulty which is just right: there were some challenging bits here and there, but mostly it flows and you'd figure it out soon enough before you're getting too tired of trial and error..    … Expand

    Though the game was published years ago, i can now own it it play it. The first game i played that not only helped me relaxed also made me emotionally. I can understand more about the truth of the World War through the game and have sympathy towards the lost in war. What a great and a beautiful game that Ubisoft can create.     I don't remember anything going wrong in this game. It has a really nice presentation, amazing story, many puzzles that are not the same over and over again and shows the player many things about WWI. For me is a must play!

    The story of the game is incredibly captivating and engaging, the soundtrack is great, the setting and art are perfect for the context, and it's not too long or too short. The characters are memorable, everything is very good. Some puzzles are well random and difficult just because you don't know what to do, but that's the only flaw in this    Valiant Hearts - {highly recommend}

    Jogo maravilhoso. Terminei ele e o sentimento foi o mesmo de quando joguei Life is Strange. Os últimos minutos do 4º capitulo são avassaladores, retrata a guerra da forma mais real possível; no final, apenas resta refletir sobre a guerra e o terror que ela traz. Recomendo a todos, vale cada centavo e tempo.

    Didn't like it that much. It's a puzzle game and there was this one puzzle where some scientist asked me to forge a detail that looked like a square turned to 45 degrees. I had already forged a detail that looked just like a normal square and I thought, well it's the same **** figure anyway, you just have to turn it slightly, so I gave it to him. But the scientists annoyingly said that no,Didn't like it that much.     I have an issue with how the game looks as well. I wouldn't say that the artstyle is not aesthetically pleasing but it looks cheap as hell, as if two people made it and not some big studio. Not to mention that this artstyle doesn't really seem appropriate for the subject matter. Throughout the game it grew on me a little but I'd still prefer if the game looked differently.    … Expand

    This game is all about what war does to people, families, cities, women, men, father, daughter, animals, everything. The story is THE masterpiece, and even with no dialogue, the game passes so much emotion everywhere, the music is superb, the graphics, i found them to be perfect: showing how War can turn something so pretty and artistic into death; the characters are    Almost a masterpiece!

    Collectables in the game are memorabilia of the Great War and why they were used, how were they invented, and so much more. That makes you want to find them and know a little more about the War.

    A beautifully made game, from the hand drawn art style, to the music and script. It's a very simple game filled with puzzles that you have to complete to tell the story. There's a ton of history facts to read and collect and I found them very interesting, it really helped me understand just how awful those times were.

    I did have some instances where the puzzles bugged out so I had to close the game as there wasn't a reset option, losing progress is never fun but at least there are regular checkpoints so you never have to backtrack too much.     Obra de arte hecha juego. A pesar de su jugabilidad sencilla (juego tipo puzzle) narra a la perfección los horrores de la primera guerra mundial. La música es increíble y el final si no lloras, es que no eres humano. 10/10

    This bad habit Ubisoft have of putting arcade scenes in their adventure games cost them once more. We wouldn't buy a game if we knew that 1 passage makes it impossible to finish for the slow sighted.

    Nonetheless, it is a wonderful game, charming and engaging. Very French in spirit, so maybe it will speak more to a player from the old world than from the new one.     As an adventure game, the game relies heavily on “puzzles”, but in reality, the puzzles are almost all of the variety of “find item A and bring it to spot B”. There are very few real puzzles, and the few “true” puzzles you find over the course of the game feel out of place in the world of World War I – who would write hints to a safe code on a window that points to letters on a German battle flag? It just doesn’t make sense.

    As a result, the game isn’t really much of a “game” at all – rather, it is more of an interactive work of historical fiction with various puzzles thrown in to… make it feel more gamey, I guess? There are a few more traditionally video-game-like sequences, such as navigating through artillery barrages and dodging tanks and barriers in a racing car, as well as the healing minigame which is just “press the right buttons in sequence” (AKA a quick-time event of sorts), but while these sequences are at times fun, at other times they feel somewhat tedious – while the taxi sequences were reasonably challenging, the “dodge the artillery barrage and machine gun fire” sequences, when done too much in one level, began to feel fairly samey. While they did create some tension, it wasn’t really fun gameplay, as it was mostly just waiting for stuff to open up so you could progress, and “stay out of the bad”. Likewise, the collection minigame – which opened up bits of lore for you to read about – was mostly just tedious and “spot the object lying on the ground” (or, more often, just press A everywhere as you move around to make sure you don’t accidentally run past something).

    The game does do its job reasonably well – you do want everyone to live and get back to their families (other than the American, who I never really connected with emotionally, and whose story felt kind of disconnected from the rest of the game), but it is fairly transparent in its tugging of the heartstrings. The flavor of the world is pretty good, though, and the animation throughout the game is decent enough in its simplistic nature, making you feel sorry for a few characters who have unique models only to kill several of them off.

    Unfortunately, when the game isn’t at its best, it can be kind of confusing. An aviator named George is introduced for a single part of a single mission, calling in artillery shots, and he seemed to have no real relevance to the rest of the game – why is he named George? What is his significance? It stuck out to me as being very random. Likewise, Baron Von Dorf, the villain that the American spends most of the game pursuing, feels cartoonishly out of place – while his boss battles are okay gameplay wise, they feel very strange in the context of an otherwise realistic game about the horrors of World War I.

    Consequently, the game is far from perfect. As a game, it isn’t that great, and as a story, while it can be strong, it can also have sections that just feel kind of there. Overall, the experience was decent enough, and the game isn’t overly long, but there’s not a whole lot of substance – World War I sucked, everyone knows it sucked, and I’m not sure that this game really had a whole lot to add to that message. There is emotional resonance, though, and you do feel sorry for the family torn apart by the war, so it isn’t a total failure in terms of impact – but in the end, I feel like I would have rather watched a movie about the same subject matter.    … Expand

    Along with Child of Light, Valiant Hearts is the only reason you ever have to use Uplay. It's that good.

    Who knew that a platformer could be this good... The story plot is incredible, the puzzles are awesome, the simple graphics are great and the finale... It's enough to make a grown man cry (I did...). Great job Ubisoft!

On the other hand the story tells an unengaging tale set in a new period of history but it just totally fails to captivate you until the end.     Its a Puzzle Adventure with amazing graphics and an absolutely riveting story line. It tells the story of 4 people and a Dog. The journey you take with these people is just fantastic.

    History takes a front seat in the game as it takes you through some of the bloodiest battles in World War 1 and human history. Its Puzzles aren't hard. But it quickly makes up for it in one of the best story lines i've ever had the honor of playing through.

    Id like to take a moment to say that this game took the history that most people don't know. The Sacrifice of Canada in World War 1. Being Canadian I, of course, took a liking to the love my countries history got in this game. Its a small victory of a huge part of my heritage. One Level even took a character and dropped him into the Battle of Vimy Ridge. One of the bloodiest battles of the war and one that was orchestrated by one hundred thousand Canadians.

    Although set in WWI, VH:TGW is not about going guns blazing on enemies. Rather, it's a personal story of Emile and his family and friends. Mostly through Emile's prospective, you will witness loss, love, friendship, and tragedy of the WWI. Although not as emotional as To the moon or Telltale's Walking dead, this game will make you speechless by the end of the game.

    Sure, Valient Hearts has its moments. Being in the trenches and speeding away in a car but the game is mostly derived of simple puzzles that usually require getting an item to a certain spot, which can feel repetitive quite often.
    If the visuals had more graphic detail i know this story would have had a bigger impact on me. Im still moved by the ending but i cant cry over something i never felt truly scared of. Its taken a bit too light-hearted maybe.    … Expand

    Each character has their different motivations, and it is through their camaraderie that they can act upon them. Each story is compelling, and you'll definitely be whole-heartedly immersed.

    The art direction and animation style is probably what you'll find the most striking. The 2D comic-style art doesn't attempt to hide the gruesome and brutal truths from the Great War, which is very important. These are incredibly sombre themes they were trying to tackle, and the fact they didn't skirt around or trivialise the horrors, is admirable. Its not all horrible, however. There is some great humour in parts, which eases up the tension.

    When travelling through each area, which is usually a famous setting or turning-point in the war, you can bring up war facts about the area, the conditions the soldiers lived in, etc. In addition, each level has collectables to find, which sheds further light in retelling what life was like at those times. This experience wasn't only immersive, but also educational. I learned far more here than I probably would in a lecture environment. Maybe, in future, games like these can be used for more formal educational purposes.

    The orchestral soundtrack was perfectly fitting to each scenario. Haunting when trudging past piles of corpses, yet delightful when in a car chases (to the music of the can-can, to name one!).

    The puzzles themselves have a perfect difficulty curve as you progress. In no point did I get truly frustrated, yet you feel pretty clever when you get it right. The tasks range from going on scavenger hunts, trading with several people until you get what you need, to digging your way around trenches, to safe-cracking. Plenty of variety.

    Overall, this small-scale human perspective of the war is an excellent way of not only retelling an important time in history, but also producing a heartfelt story that resonates with you for a long time after completion.    … Expand

    Definitely not the best puzzle game we ever played in terms of gameplay, but that was not the purpose of this game. Ubisoft made a tribute to the victims of the Great War. They made a video game trying to educate us and touch our hearts. Their effort was a total success. Nothing less than a 10!

    Great story, based on true letters sent home from the front lines. Story that shows war has no sense and brings suffer to common people only. Great comic style graphics makes this game fun to play. The only critics i have is the puzzles are to easy to solve. From the other side i wanted to solve them asap to push the game story forward and see what happens next.

    Wonderful little adventure game that is completely story driven but still has some enjoyable puzzles (although they are on the easy side). This game does give you a very good insight into the Great War (World War 1) and also shows why war is pretty much bad and meaningless. Also very much enjoyed the musical score and sound.

    I am not a game developer or a critic of any kind, which i think are those that rate this game lower. Any score below 8 seems ridiculous to me, the game is well done, good story, good additional information, well driven...it's one of the nieces games I've played lately.

Also, if you take into account that point and click adventures are not the most profitable game genre, why not take some risks and try to make something different?

    The more you base in a pre-established formula, the weaker is the original idea. Inspiration comes from the heart and is important to maintain it. Does brainstorming ring a bell?     For the game play elements, puzzle solving parts are acceptable. However, the frequent QTEs and the buggy checkpoint systems are the only ones to be blamed.

    Anyway, the game has a good story, voice acting and soundtracks. In spite of its weakness in game play, it is still a great game in case you are interested about the historical facts of world war and the feeling of people involved.    … Expand

    Valiant Hearts is a game you can't miss, not because of it's gameplay (yes, sometimes it's kinda boring with all these puzzles, not for me, but I can understand people here), but because of it's soul. You know, this is an emotional experience with a whole war not to be forgotten, yes, people today don't remember (and even don't know) much about the First World War, bit this touchingValiant Hearts is a game you can't miss, not because of it's gameplay (yes, sometimes it's kinda boring with all these puzzles, not for me, but I can understand people here), but because of it's soul.     In conclusion, I can highlight great graphics, ideal atmospheric music (Anna's race on her taxi with Monti's Csárdás as a soundtrack, you know, it's awesome) and pure emotions. Just play this little game, read about this great war and never forget.

    This is the great game to tell the life and suffering of the ww1 peoples with beautifully crafted animation,level design and puzzles,and ubisoft never stops giving peoples historical knowledge this game offers so much knowledge such as the Battle of the Marne or the Battle of the Somme and emotionally strong game

    A amazing game! Very well written and the character construction is amazing to, they can transfer the feeling of what should be being in a world war. And for me, this game sometimes worked as an interactive history book, improving my knowledge about the First World War.

    Its a very good game which really evolves emotions. Well i guess everything else is already mentioned by other users except maybe one thing. In my opinion the game could have been a little more challenging. Most of the time it was really easy to solve puzzles. But the story is capturing and about time a WWI tale is told. Не малую роль в этом всём играет стилистика игры. Несмотря на то, что история захватывает сразу несколько героев, она нисколько не запутанная, а наоборот: судьба каждого героя складывается в общую картину войны и описание судьб людей разных народов.
    Во время каждого вашего действия звучит потрясающая музыка, которая, к сожалению, преследует ту же цель, что и всё остальное, а именно показать ужас бессмысленной, жестокой и затяжной Первой Мировой войны. Вы услышите оркестровую музыку и немного измененные шедевры маэстров классической музыки.
    Как я уже сказал, героев несколько и каждому соответствует свой тип геймплея: медик лечит, солдат воюет и тому подобные плюшки. Конечно не обошлось без такого гейплейного решения как нахождение вещей, что впрочем не удивительно для 2D платформера. Будьте внимательны, ведь каждая вещица раскроет вам свою историю. Не могу упомянуть про исторические факты, которые делают историю более полной и действительно интересной, и записи дневников наших героев, которые дают действительно полное погружение в дух того времени.
    Как и в любом платформере здесь есть загадки, но если вам не хватит ваших извилин, игра предложит вам подсказку, которая обычно бывает в помощь, но бываю случаи: "ОК, это я уже сделал..." (если только вы не играете на сложности Ветеран (И, ДА - тут есть сложности)).
    Но что самое главное и довольно редко встречаемое в играх - она чувствует игрока. Вы сами знаете, что делать и когда делать...
    Итак, эта игра определенно стоит своих денег и вызывает у вас огромное количество эмоций, она не скучна и не банальна. Отличная атмосфера, интересная история, забавный геймплей, потрясающие герои, хорошая музыка, уникальный артстиль. В общем минусов у игры особых я не нашёл за исключением того, что она коротковата, хотя что бы тогда делало её такой маленькой, приятной и с большой концентрацией интереса?    … Expand

    As game Valiant Hearts consists of only boring commonplaces. You keep on to see the story, but some parts are so unnecessarily hard, you grow to hate the repetition after a while. By the time of the last doctoring (not giving away anything), I was so full of QTEs, that I deleted the game and watched the ending on youtube. Lot of creativity on the design side and absolutely zero on the game design side. As an animated movie it could have been a 9, as a game it is a 1, so I gave the in-between.    … Expand

    the only problem with the game is the villan, which felt bland an boring, and wasnt developed well like the other characters.

    While the appeal of a story-driven sidescroller is clearly uncomfortable for some, a vocal minority full of zeros, it is heartening to see a new generation of fans enjoying the Ken & Roberta Williams style of play for the first time. Between Valiant Hearts and Star Citizen, the legacy of Sierra is standing tall again for the first time in two decades. Welcome back, narrative, we missed you.

    That isn't to say the game is perfectly executed. Many of the historical aspects could be better integrated into the game itself, whereas they sort of stand alone in the current adaptation. The story itself is compelling, but the puzzles are basic. The actual game play mechanics are better suited to an iPad than to a PC or console. Even the Sierra games of the early 90s had fairly complex puzzles that required the intelligent use of items picked up hours earlier. I understand the simplicity though. If they made the experience both unfamiliar *and* overly challenging, the title would have gone down like - well like a flaming zeppelin. All in all, this is a wonderful story that is told in an interesting way, full of emotion, utilizing a style we haven't seen much of in a very long time. Based on the critical reception, I hope to see a further revival of the adventure game genre complete with game play mechanics that hang together between chapters as well as the story does.

    Eventhough a biologist, I enjoy reading history so I found this game fascinating including the small facts that were given in intervals and the talismans you needed to collect which gave more information too. The gameplay was simple, the music spectacular and the puzzling intriging enough to keep my interest.     Another mediocre game brought to you by Ubisoft. It is just like Child of Light, which is advertised as a special genre, but just ends up boring, repetitive and bring nothing new to the table. After the epic failure of Watch Dog, you can now understand games with nothing special are kept on published by the same company again and again, just for one simple purpose.

    What a wonderful game! Developers spent a lot of soul and blood on this game. Oh, the tragedy! Controls are as simple as expected, the puzzles aren't really hard (but still entertaining), the graphics are drawn/ animated pretty well. Nothing more to say, it's an interactive comic novel- but a very nice one.

    Sounds cliche but it's doing a great job of bringing remberence to the play station generation and that can only be a good thing IMO

    The game mechanics are easy to use, simple but rewarding puzzles but ultimately quite similar as you progress. Being halfway through I'm hoping for something new as I get further.

    The characters become quite personal to you and you really want the best for them ( I love the old French guy and the dog).

    The graphics style works well. It has a good balance of showing some quite horrific scenes but being a cartoon style it doesn't become disturbing.

    It's the first game in a long while that I'm struggling to put down. I really want to see how the story progresses.

    This game isn't about obnoxiously shoot people in the neck or miraculously screaming at the microphone. Instead, it's about four protagonist, Karl, Anna, Emile and Freddie and their journey through the Great War, or best known as World War I. The game has a phenomenal story-telling, simple puzzle and combat mechanics and all these is what makes it a jaw-dropping experience. Also, $15 only.

    I placed a chunk of coal on a table after taking a glass cup. Broodily awesome war game UBI. The graphics look SOOO much like the walking dead and in fact they both look similar(not exactly the same) by on screen layout.

    The hints are most helpful too.

    Wow. This game is a true masterpiece. The intriguing storyline keeps you in suspense from start till final credits. Wonderful art. Only few games made me cry, and this masterwork is one of those. Ubisoft, thank you.

    It would have been nice if the developers could decide what game they want to make. On one hand, we have a failed attempt to tell an engaging story. On the other hand, series of puzzles would benefit from a higher difficulty level. Valiant Hearts is disappointing, but still not bad. [Sept 2014, p.56]

    Touching, exciting and all-round beautiful adventure somewhat tarred by its monotonous gameplay and the ludicrous image of the Big Bad Enemy. And it is almost a perfect way to explain the concept of war to your kids.
